Unsuccessful instalation of .Net Framework cf 3.5 - Touch HD General

Hello
I have a problem with installation .NET framework. I can t install it because the blackstone wrote the installation was unsuccessful.
Please help

I had the same error. Problem solved after a hard reset.
So if you don't have too much programs installed...

once you installed it on your pc go to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v3.5\WindowsCE
there you will find some cabs for wm!
install: NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab

are you trying to install it on your storage card ?

thanks umexed. its working.

came across the same problem a few days ago glad i helped!

To get it installed on mine I just had to run the setup on my PC, then I plugged in my HD and it updated the device on its own

Sorry, i'm a big noob - it's my first wm phone, so i think it's better to ask then to sc**w something up....
I can't start .msi file on the phone because it says the file is not associated with any prog on the phone. If I install this on my pc and copy just NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab (if i understood correct) on HD - after i click on it twice it will install?

Installations of .exe and .msi are for pc.. if you run them on the pc it'll automatically send it for installation to the ppc via activesync.
if the installation isnt successful for some reason, copy the .cab file mentionted on the previous post and run it from the ppc

Thanks, it worked!!!

I get "Installation error" aswell, but is there any other to to get around this other than doing a hard reset?

anyone have any ideas?

No luck, I am still looking.....

Same problem, it won't install.
I 1st installed the MSI, then tried to install the app via Active Sync. No errors, but it just doesn't install.
Then tried copying the CAB file to my phone and running it. It simply won't start on my mobile, again no errors...
Any help would be welcomed

Well, I got it to work. When I soft-reset my mobile, it asked if I wanted to install it, and I did, and it works. Kinda weird/stupid it doesn't initially say you need to reboot to install...

there is registry hack
this is from tutorial by geistteufel
install ".NET Compact 3.5", because by default on official first rom (I have the 1.14), it come with ".NET Compact 2.0" which is know to be slower than the "3.5" version.
So, go there : Microsoft .NET Compact 3.5
Install it on your phone (Internal of course, not Storage card)
After, install TCMD or any registry tools to change registry value
TCMD Web Site
Open it, go to "\\Registry\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFra mework"
You have 2 entry :
2.0.7045.00
and
3.5.7283.00
So edit the 2.0, change value from "1" to "0"
and edit the 3.5, change value from "0" to "1"
Ok, now .NETCompact 3.5 is the default one.
Thank geistteufel for this if it worked properly

I installed orginally by active syc
I installed by active sync method worked like a charm for me once i did the hack
if you are trying to install by cab then close tf3d and install from windows today's page and see, use task manager to close all programs it is a large cab 33 mb
pls check the registry once more to see if it has installed

thnx for ur work umexed

Certificate-issues when attempting to install on QTEK 9100

I've recieved a QTEK9100 (HTC Wizard) from my employer. The ROM-version is 2.18.7.4 NOR.
This unit seems to be application locked in some way.
Among other things, I have tried to install two different sharewhare GPS-programs on this unit (PTGMAP and OZIExplorer). When installing or running the .exe files i get error messages like:
- "Cannot open the file PTGMAP. It either lacks a signed certificate or cannot find one of the components" (my translation).
- ".. can not be installed because it does not have a digitally signed certificate" (also my translation)
- or simply "cannot be installed"
I've searched this forum and quite a few others, but I have not been able to find a solution. I've found some .cab files, but these have been for other units that the QTEK 9100/HTC Wizard. I was even able to install this one, but it seems to have made no difference:
ftp://[email protected]/Universal/Extended_ROMs/Default_Signed_DisableSecurity.CAB
(I do realise this is for another unit)
I've also tried SignCode - It's says that the executable is certified, but I still get the same error message when I try to run the programe.
Finally, because my ROM has been configured (by an external supplier) with Pylon Anywhere for syncronization, I guess I can't install another ROM, as I will lose this software which I need.
Can anyone help me here? --- Please!?! ---
Try this reg tweak
Disable the security warning when installing non-certified application
To disable the security warning when installing a non-certfied application, set:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\0000101a = 1 (DWORD decimal)
To restore the warnings:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\0000101a = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Registry editor
but... I've tried to install the registry wizard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725&highlight=registrywizard
But I get the same error-message "cannot install RegistryWizard_PPC_ARMV4.cab"..
Any ideas?
Copy this exe to your device via activesync and click on file through file explorer. It is a registry editor and go to those keys i described.
Still doesn't work
I've tried this in every possible way now:
- I've copied the file to my "mobile unit" in windows explorer with ActiveSync running.
- I've put the file in the file-sync and synced.
- I've copied the file to my storage-card using a card-reader.
... Everytime I try to run the file, I still get the message "Cannot open regedit_463. It is either not signed with a signed certificate and so on..."
I am considering a ROm-update, but if I install a new ROM, I'll lose all the syncronization software from my employer, right?
Any futher help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try the above file in main memory - take your storage card out and soft reset. Then click on the file again - sometimes it is a corrupt storage card that causes that error. Otherwise its some software thats caused this security error and you will need to hard reset or update rom. Yes you would have to reinstall all your software.

How to install .net on XDA11i

Hi guys / gals
I have an XDA11i and want to add .net compact 2.0 to it so that I can run hitchhiker or wififofum etc .
How do I install the .net framework ? do I just add it to the active sync folder and let it get patched across ? or do I load it to another folder on the Pda and run it ?
Am having fun with my work network whih at the moment is stopping me down loading the file any way but I believe my It dept can get round that one for me.
Help greatfully appreciated

I am a bit unclear:
In which format is the installation you have?
Usually you download the desktop installer from MS. (I believe it is an .msi file). Then you just connect you device, double click on the file on your PC and it does everything else automatically.
If you just have the .cab file, copy it to your device, then click on it from the file explorer (on the device).
That's it.
If you need to download it you can do it here.
Easiest way: dock your Alpine.
Download and run the .msi file from the Microsoft URL mentioned above (it's the latest version of the .net compact framework). Let the installation run its course, and as it goes it'll transfer the CABs over to your device and then they'll install. I don't think (if memory serves) any user intervention is actually required.
One soft reset later: bang, you're sorted.
Thanks guys
Took your advice and all sorted , as you said it does it all its self , no intervention .
Now have hitchhiker and wififofum all up and running although a big drain on system rescources .

CAB "Installation Unsuccessful"

Hi guys,
Just got my new Touch Diamond on Thursday and so I'm trying out all the awesome software on here! Except I can't...
I've installed Advanced Config, GSen, and Diamond TF3D Config. I've tried to install:
-DiamondHologram
-TomTom 7 for Diamond (TTN_7.450.9028.cab)
I just get a notification saying "Installation of name of cab was unsuccessful".
I haven't done any ROM upgrades, unlocks. I have only installed the new Google Maps 2.2.0.19 and the .NET 3.5.
Is there any reason why I can't install these applications? It's doing me nuts because I can't install half of these wicked apps!
Thanks guys
James
Can anyone help? Please?!?
Same here... and i'm going mad. Seems this issue affects random cabs. I succesfully installed your same TomTom version, but I can't install G-sensor Calibrate, or even TotalCommander...
I tried to update to Project V3.3 but issue is still there with the same cabs.
Any ideas?
I also tried disabling security warning by using Schap's Advanced Config. Nothing changed.
random
as you said it is a random effect... same prb here.... but i saw something odd...
i downloaded a cab with opera installed on htc and selected "open" when it asks what to do with the file... download complete but instalation unsuccessfull.
i've downloaded the same file but saved it on the storage and after that i installed... and surprise it worked! maybe it is a memory prblm.... i don't know!
this method does'nt work with every cab
Weird thing! I re-downloaded two cabs, moved to diamond... installation succeded. But i still not know if it was because of corrupted cabs or a Diamond problem.
Anyway I'll try to do a simple cab corruption check (try open the cab with a compressor like 7zip wich is free) for the next cabs.
Just for ask: did you download your "cannot install" cab with a download manager?

no... just using opera from the diamond
Same problem here... I have some CABs which dont fail and some which fail... Very anoying problem
I confirm i solved my problems by downloading WITHOUT any download manager or download accelerator all cabs on my pc, then check them with 7zip, then copy to my Diamond and install.
It's a bit strange way to get cabs installed but it's a safe method.
You can also choose to use download managers or download with your pda to download cabs, but you have to check them later if they don't install and... re-download them.
I also found solution which someone could explain....
I upload all SW using active sync and not USB drive and all what was not working now works.
So what is wrong here?

I have the same problem when the device - an o2 XDA Diamond - is connected in "Disk Drive" mode.
Whenever I transfer files from a Windows Server 2003 system (w/o Service Pack) to the "Internal Storage" of my Diamond the files become corrupted on the device.
This happens with any file type, but only with larger files - they become corrupted when they are several megabytes in size.
This doesn't happen randomly, it happens every time.
Reading large files from the "Internal Storage" works without problems.
When I transfer the very same files from a Windows XP system then they are OK on the device.
Also when I transfer the files in "Active Sync" mode the files are OK, but the "Active Sync" transfers are randomly aborted and the sync is lost.
I knew I'm not the only one with that problem, but I never found any information.
The ROM is the newest official one, 1.93.207.2.
Of course the Windows Server 2003 system transfers large files to other flash storages - camera, card reader and other Pocket PCs - without any problems.
My only advice is to transfer the cab to your internal storage using disk drive option the disconnect your Diamond and see if that works. e.g navigate to the cab using diamond file explorer then double tap on cab should install ok then
Sorry, doesn't work for me, but I thought that it was clear. (Because I wrote all info, like Service Pack, etc.)

You dont understand this... The file is corrupted while transfering via USB Drive but OK if we use ActiveSync... We know how to install CAB files. there is not problem.
BTW, I have Win2000 so it might be same as mentioned 2003...
I will try on another system and see how it works.
I just installed Windows XP SP3 on my machine: SAME PROBLEM!!
thedino, what mainboard do you have and how old is it and what is its USB version (1.0, 1.1, 2.0)? I have a K7S5A with USB 1.1.
For now I have to assume that HTC produced crap and that I'm gonna send my Diamond back.
I bought an USB card for PCI and there is no problem when connecting the HTC Diamond to this card.
No data corruption at all.
So obviously it must be something with onboard USB chipsets, but it's definitely a problem on HTC's side,
else these onboard USB chipsets wouldn't work correctly with any other USB device.

I had the same problem (either "installation unsuccessful" or just gets stuck during installation). I was using changescreen v2.5 for handling the display rotation. Apparently this software has a conflict with the .cab installer. It was enough to disable changescreen, then run the .cab, then re-activate changescreen again.
Hope that this helps.

Temporary Fix
Try this
Rename the cab file with a different extension, eg TotalCommander.cab to TotalCommander.txt. Do this on your computer.
Select the file within Windows Explorer and do the usual "Edit -->Copy" to copy the file.
Establish ActiveSync connection with your Diamond and using "File Management" select the Internal Storage of your Diamond. Then select "Paste" to paste the file into the internal storage of your DIamond. Rename the file back to having the .cab file extension by using the explorer shell you opened through ActiveSync.
Unplug Diamond from the USB and ensure ActiveSync on your Diamond is not active. Using file explorer program on your Diamond tap on the cab to install it.
The only alternative is uninstall all extra apps you have put on one by one and try to install other cabs as some of these may conflict with the cab install OR you can update your ROM from the 1.93 series to the 2 series.
Let me know if this temporary fix works. Best of luck.

Is there a video on this or is there an easy solution? I tried updating via Zune, but it freezes my HD2 and makes me reflash. I am on version 7004. I want to be able to use the marketplace and I already activated my phone. Help???

use this to flash all the way to 8107...just execute the first .bat file. do not exit the cab sender after part 1 is complete...press any key to complete to 8107. it's the 7004 to 8107 autoinstaller you want. do not reset phone. go straight into sending sp1..see below.
http://xboxmod.sylvester20007.com/CABS/OSBUILD.CAB/
then use cab sender to flash sp1 by itself using the regular cab sender you downloaded. place the sp1 cab file in the same directory as the .bat file. hard reset phone after sp1.
cab sender grabs whatever cabs you place into its directory to send. be sure to delete the cab(s) after sending before sending another cab. you can send multiple cabs per run. again, be sure to delete cabs already sent before another run.
