Inbox headset - Touch Pro, Fuze Accessories

Hi! I wonder about the headset (or what's it called) that came with the box.
Was does the button do? I have noticed that when pressed it calls a number (latest perhaps). Is it suppose to do that and why?
Can't you use it as a volumecontroll?
I would really like a headset where you could kontroll the player. (adjust the volume, start/stop/pause, maybe even skip a song.
Nothing like this exists, does it? Would be great.
Then you could have the phone in your pocket and doesn't have to pick it up all the time. A mpe-player you can have hanging around your neck, but this one is kinda heavy.

look at some of the stero bluetooth headsets around. That way you can leave your phone in your pocket and only have the controls for the music player near your head.
no cables to phone
sony and plantronics make them as do other brands.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
But how do the headset that came in box work?

i think its adapter?
that sucks ATT never give good hedaset
i remember i bought a htc touch diamond the GSM one when it wasn't released yet and only released imported.
it came with a nice quality built HTC headphones -_-

How do you mean that it is an adapter?
Really quite amazing that no one seems to know what the headset that came with the box is used for.
Doesn't anybody use it? Can't even find info in the manual.
It seems to open my last call when I tested but what is the use of that?
This is a phone where people have learned every detail down to what hardware it uses, still no one knows how to use the headset????
Sure you can buy an adapter and use another headset but someone must have tried it? Maybe you can program what the button do.

Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 and Wizard friends or foes?

Hi
I´m thinking of buying the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 bluethooth headset for my qtek9100 (Wizard) and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this headset.
The things I want from it is:
1. play music of course, I use Mortplayer or PocketMusic for my music now but i can change if none of those work.
2. Change tracks and see the song playing in the dispaly
3. Recive calls and see who is calling in the display.
4. Watch video and get auido in headset, use TCMP here but again I can change if neccesary.
I know that the headset supports both A2DP and AVRCP but I would like to know if anyone tested this with the wizard. The headset is pretty pricey (about 900 SEK or 94 euro here in Sweden) so I want to make sure its all it says it is and that it works.
My other option is the RClip35 from itech which seems pretty sweet aswell, anyone tried that one?
Thanks

I've got one, using it with my Qtek 9100 with the "Mr Clean" ROM and it works great. Sound quality is excellent, the ear buds appear to be the same as Sony's high end ones (which I'm using with my iPod) and the head set build quality is high.
I can definitely recommend it for the 9100.

Ugh, forgot to say that it does not have caller ID. The remote control function works with WMP but not with TCPMP. Those are the only media players I've tested.

Is that so? I just checked at a reseller and saw this (translated from swedish)
Bluetooth Stereo Headset with display that has support for Caller ID and also see what song is played.
Bluetooth version 2.O with A2DP protokoll (Stream sound in Stereo) and Digital Signal Protokoll) which means improved sound quality.
So I´m pussled..true or false?
Also, looking at pictures of this one, from what I can see it has many wires, only difference to the one that comes in the package with the Qtek9100 is the wire to the phone of corse, don´t you find this a bit annoying?
Thinking of buying one myself and I have today a HBH-610 that can´t do A2DP sadly BUT it´s just one thingy on the ear and that´s it...oh well guess I have to scarifice that if I wan´t A2DP which I do...

Argh. It DOES do Caller ID. The display is so tiny that I guess I assumed it would not display the caller ID.
Makes this headset even better!

Thanks for the replys guys, I think now I will go ahead and buy one when I get enough cash.
One additional question: Does it have a ring speaker och vibrate function?
I'm thinking of a scenario when you have the phone in a pocket or bag and have the clip on your shirt but the earbuds not in your ears and the phone rings, is it possible to hear it or do you have to have the buds pluged in?
Here's a link to the headset and the lowest prices (for Sweden)

It does not vibrate but it plays the ring tone - and it's audible when just hanging around the neck unless the environment is really noisy.
The phone rings too, of course.
I´ll buy this one also soon, thx for the recommendations/explanations.

I bought one of these last week and agree that the sound quality is excellent. I expected some background Bluetooth-style hiss but I can't hear any.
£70 may be a bit steep, but I think they are worth it.
For me, I always dock my Wizard in a cradle at work, which blocks the phono jack. So these fix that problem. Now I can also carry my Wizard wherever on my person I choose and not have to worry about wires.
And the real benefit is, when docked, I use Raspberry Software's True Connect, so I can control my Wizard with my mouse (excellent software), so even without A2DRP (something like that) I can still change my music at my desk.
The actual bluetooth part is really light and you don't knotice it round your next, most people probably think it's just an MP3 player, albeit a small one.
Highly recommended by me.
Hi Guys,
got this tiny little toy too, sound is good, but some questions are still unanswered:
Songs aren´t display in the sceen of the Sony remote control, any chance to get this thing to work?
I would love it to use an other Player than this f*cking MediaPlayer, but with other Player the Buttons won´t work.....
Any idea?
What about the range?
Hi all,
What are your experiences with respect to the range of this headset, when used in combination with the Wizard? I'm fairly disappointed in that area: As soon as I move the wizard from the 'line of sight' of the headset, the audio feed breaks up. This means that I won't be able to stash my phone in my backpack for example.
regards,
dafit
@Dafit:
I only keep it in my jeans front pocket, or my Suit Jacket inner pocket, so no problems there. However I have noticed it doesn't seem to cope well if it's not in line of sight. I held my Qizard behind my back and it cut out.
So that's one downside. Quite big if you want to keep it in your bag...
@Whumpscut:
Agreed with the songs suggestion, would be nice. As for other Media Players. Have heard mention that TCPMP might allow control via the Bluetooth, but I've tried it and it wouldn't work.
There's also an update coming out sometime soon from Conduit the makers of Pocket Player that will do this. See their forum for details.
Hi Nooner,
I just got my headset this morning and been testing it for a while. I notice that music playback after a call doesn't work even though the music is still playing but just no sound is coming from the headset. Just wonder whether have you experience this problem b4. I am having a O2 wizard with the lastest rom. Thanks

I don't have that problem, as nobody ever rings me
I have heard this as a problem. But joking aside, I've only had my headphones for about 5 days and usually only listen at work or to and from work (via the tube/underground), which is when I don't really receive calls.
But I've heard this reported. Don't know if it's the headphones or a problem with A2DP.
Thanks for the reply. I will try and search the forum and see. Will report back if I found anything.
In this user review he mentions the same problem http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=7463154#post7463154 Maybe its because of the A2DP patch but I dont have the problem with a Nokia HS-12W or Itech Clip S.
Yes is exactly the same problem. But seems like no one has a solution for it so far.
Hi efjay,
Just wonder what do you think about the nokia hs12w. Do you have any problem with it at all or it just works fine with the phone. Cause I am thinking of returning the sony n get something else.
I just ordered mine. Will be here on Monday
Can't wait.

Damn it. They just called and said it's on "national backorder"
Must find one....

Have a look in this thread for opinions on the Nokia http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48290
I myself think its good, solid build, large display, clear sound and the radio is an added bonus.

For those using the Athena as a primary phone

I am not. But, in the event I want to, I just bought this, the LG Style-i bluetooth 'mini-handset"(see link below), and, it works very nicely with the Athena. It has good sound, and the dialpad works well, and is extremely convenient. As is the incoming caller ID. And it is light, thin, and clips to a pocket nicely. It pairs easily, and stayed paired even when the Athena went into hibernation mode. It's perfect for use with the Athena.
I suggest it, for the potential $50 one can find it for on E-Bay (like I did).
It really is a pretty useless device, for anything else except the Athena! For any other phone, it's, well, like getting your dog a dog.
http://reviews.cnet.com/LG_Style_i/4505-1_7-31826853.html?tag=viddet
Yes, I was very tempted to get this, but I may as well carry a second phone...
Also, its like $45 post to UK, and i refuse to pay that. Its not really that expensive. I posted a repaired Universal back to the USA once for less than $20 in its box with all accessories!
I just ordered clip style bt headset with Stereo 3.5mm headphone jack. I listen to music a lot on the Athena and the style-i is no use for that.
I may still end up getting a Style-I if i can find one for a sensible price, it looks quite cool. Recently ive been answering the Athena on speakerphone with no BT headset. If you turn the volume down you can hold it to your ear like the older HTC phones. Only real problem is the giggles you get from surrounding people.
Well, the big advantage of the Style-i is the dial pad and caller ID. Makes for use like a real phone. And, it's tiny. Only con is there's no "+". You need to use 00 or 011, depending where you are to dial internaitonally.
I like it..r u using it now...can u inform how easy is the dial function?
Also does the contact list can be accessed? If u can throw more light,it will b nice..

You cannot access ocntacts, but, you can do voice dial.

Which headset have you gone for. I'm thinking of ordering something similar for convenience. I'd appreciate hearing how you get on with yours.
I'm using the Jabra BT8010 and it has really made my Ameo work like a real phone in that I can leave it in my bag/briefcase and just have the headset in my pocket which vibrates and tells me who's calling. I know loads of headsets do this, but it also has an extra earphone so you can listen to music as well. Genius!

Mee too using Jabra BT8010. Overall it's a good headset, the best perhaps. Only one minor thing is that it can't show contacts from my Dopod U1000. Just very annoying about that.

The good thing about Jabra BT8010 is it has external screen and also you listen to music with it. My suggestion is if you only want one headset to do all this and don't really mind the sound quality, then Jabra is your best choose.
For other people who care about sound quality and want to use their own headset to listen music, then iTech clip D is not a bad choice too, I am using it at the moment, it also has external LCD screen and it display contact name correctly, so when someone call, you actually see their name on the screen.
No doubt these are the two best option out there for Athena.
But,none of these others have a dial pad, for making a call, correct?

The way I figured it was: Start price on most seems to be $34. BIN is $60-something.
$-£ is so good right now, I'll swallow the $45 shipping if I get it for the start price.
And that's exactly what happened, because so many are listed people think the same way.
So - £40. Shipped.
Find me a Bluetooth headset in the UK for £40 delivered to your door that does what the Style-i appears to do (I don't have mine yet, probably next week I'll get it or later this week!).
I have one to!
I have one of the Style i handsets, it is a good little device. Makes whipping your phone out of your pocket a thing of the past!
Ive found that 99% of the time it pairs instantly. Also the voice commands work well too, for the lazy people out there!
The Style i works really well as a phone, you can either dial using the handset, or call a contact via the phone and it diverts through the handset.
I would say that the only annoying thing is remembering to take it everywhere along with my phone! (left it in my jacket pocket which i dont wear for work!) Oh well, not a major issue, just another piece of hardware to take with me.
Overall i'd say its a very good alternative for people wanting to use the phone side of the Ameo.
Got mine today! So - bought 4th May from the US, arrived 8th May signed-for delivery. That's pretty impressive. According to the receipt their actual postage costs are $24.80 for that service, so $20 - £10 - for eBay fees, time to pick and post the item (US Postal Service, if they use post offices then these usually involve a drive out and a wait, during business hours, even if they are using online payment/postage label printing facilities from eBay).
I don't think their postage charges are entirely unreasonable.
The device itself seems great - does exactly what I hoped it would do. Admittedly it's Yet Another Gadget to keep charged and try not to lose (I lost my original HBH-35 headset, and I was annoyed because it was really comfortable and reliable). I'll still use my BSH-100 headphones (or get better ones) for music and so forth, but this makes the Ameo totally useful as a phone - and given the rates T-Mobile give you for minutes, NOT using the Ameo as a phone is a bit of a waste!
Well, I really would get the Style-I £40 isnt so bad, but I want stereo. I dont want to have two headsets. (style-I + stereo headset)
I ordered the iTech R35 clip headset. It has Media controls for volume/track skip/play pause as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. This means I can use standard headphones as well as still get all the BT calling benefits. Im looking for a nice pair of minidisk headphones now (they have extra short leads) to use with it. Ill let you know how I get on with it when it arrives.
I have the Plantronics Pulsar 590A headset, this is amazing. It has to be the best headset solution ive come across so far. The sound is great and it works for calls so well. Swapping between calls and music is easy and the buttons work without having to fiddle for ages. I would be using this every day if it wasnt for the fact that the charger socket has broken and I cant get them to charge The addition of a Bluetooth transmitter for my iPod makes it so usefull. I can even plug the transmitter into my PSP/DS etc and game while still able to take calls.
I bought a cheap I-Wing stereo headset from Maplin UK for £30. This works well, is very compact and apart from reasonably poor bass (not unexpected) its an ok solution. Easily pocketable and not too obtrusive when left around the neck.
I rate the Plantronics as the best ive used, but not entirely practicle for all day at work due to the size and the fact you look like a DJ with them round your neck.

it all depends on how much degree of music listening you want to go, personally, i care very much for the music listening experience, anything wireless sounds bad in my ear, and yes i can notice the different easily. This all depends on different people.

i has this in 60€ to sell.
sound quality is great, best ive tried.
only problem is after a phone call it will not go back to music and instead will drop the bluetooth link. fairly easy to reconnect by pressing the play/pause button on the headset when this happens but annoying all the same.

I have the HBH-DS970 and it works very well - great sound. I don't know what the difference is with the 980 - I don't see the 980 listed on the USA accessories list. My guess is that it would work well for you.
I'm so done with wired headphones. Having to spend hours detangling wires is tiresome. I've now opted to only using bluetooth stereo headphones, like the sony one I'm using, which is lightweight and doesn't have a bluetooth unit to carry around!
The only other wired headphones I'm opend to are the 'mini bud' headphones which have retractable wiring:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/minibuds/index.htm
just got the headphones a few days ago, i think thursday. the quality is great, my sister said that the phone quality was good, she heard me just fine. pretty good bass response, the only thing i've had problems with is using the contacts menu on the headphone and getting into my phone. i think it might be more of a problem w/ the kaiser bluetooth setup though. anybody know if there's any kind of updates for bluetooth drivers for the kaiser...i'm going to check to see if theres anything for the headphones on sonys site too

Galaxy S and Monster beats

I just got my Galaxy S and tried to use my Monster Beats headset with it (as I used it with my iPhone)
The button for answering calls / change song doesn't seem to work. Anyone have used the Monster headset in combination with a android handset before?
Probably a matter of polarity difference. You would get same results if you attempted to use Samsung headset shipped with the Galaxy S on the iPhone.
Galaxy S and Monster Studio
The call volume is really low on the Studios - media seems to work fine. Anyone else with a similar issue?
probably a proprietary connection for the 4 pole 3.5mm jack.
yes, the iphone and SGS headset is not interchangeable.. indeed a difference how they were implemented.
Just like how the data cable for mobile phones are.. they are not standard mini USB jacks.. if only all of them uses mini USB.. would be easier to manage cables.

Actually the SGS use standard micro-usb as par with the OMTP cell phone charge standard:

i am using my westone um1 with sgs. music listening is perfect. but i can't answer call with it. by that i mean i can't hear voice with the headphone i have to unplug it to talk. with all my old phone i just use the headphone for listening and talk on the mic on the phone. somehow it doesn't work for the sgs,
I got problems with my 'Monster Diddy Beats w/control talk'
Did you find a fix? Are you able to play music with them? I'm not
The answer call button doesn't work, but I'm not even able to play music. The sound is totally twisted and it's allmost impossible to hear the vocal. The headset work on every other device I've tried, and regular headphones works on the Galaxy S (like noname earplugs, monster lady gaga, and iphone plugs).
When I connect threw and 3,5mm 1->2 output adapter it works. Seems like the plug doesn't fit into my phone.
The plug has 3 rubber (?) rings around it. Other plugs I've tried have to. Might that be the problem and is there any solution? All the plugs got the same length..

Same thing here. Somebody who knows a way to fix this? Does it work with custom rooms?
i think the mic and ground are reversed with samsung.
with the iphone 4pole, t/r/r/s(tip,ring,ring,sleeve) is left, right ground, mic
with samsung i think it is t/r/r/s left, right mic, ground, alhough im not so sure as i have yet to receive my phone from the local carrier
one thing to test is to listen to music with the iphone compatible headset, there should be some problem with the sound. then press the mic button. If the sound cleared up like there is a perfect closed circuit, then the mic and ground terminals are reversed. you can diy an adaptor for your headset with the proper termination
Thanks.

You're probably right. Can't really understand why though
When I press and hold the 'answer call button' on the diddy beats the music sounds like it's supposed to. The Diddy Beats are brand new and I love them. If I'm not able to fix this I have to sell either them or the phone (they are in my opinion the best highend earplugs on the market)
Is there any DIY guides I could use or even better a kind of adapter or so I could buy?
Still think it's quite weird that the sound goes through the phone speaker instead of earplugs while making calls. Should be a way change this.

well, firstly, i have the triplefi10vi which i used on my iphone, and they trump the beats by a mile sq-wise. and then i sent them to china to get remolded into custom monitors with an additional mid-range driver, making 4 in total driver count per ear, 1 up from 3 drivers per ear. they are now comparable to high-end musicians stage in ear monitors, if not better
about diy adaptor, just get one o those generic after market 4pole headphone adaptors, open them up and switch the mic and ground connectors on the plug side so they have the correct polarity when they terminate into the galaxy s but still have the same polarity on the socket side where you plug your headphones into.
about why the call goes to the speaker, maybe because the phone doesnt recognize the headphones as a proper earphone/mic set due to the reversed polarity of the mic/ground
hope that helps
I'll give the diy solution a try, hope for the best.
Anybody tried the service menu advice from this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709535&highlight=headphones&page=2
Tried but didn't understand what to do ;p Maybe it's possible to have phonecalls audio go through ordinary headphones..
Sent an email to Monster support. I'll post it here when I get an answer.
No phonecalls with ordinary headphones
I use a couple of high end headphones with my galaxy s and suffer from the stupid inability to send the phonecall audio through the phones. What about older samsung cell phones with 3.5 jacks. Can they do it? Will samsung ever fix this desigh flaw, or should I get rid of the phone...
galaxy s -> moster beats...
Hi
Anyone knows already how to fixe this?
I just spent 200$ on a monster beat...
sound is great but want to use it normally
including mic etc...
Anyone??

i've been listening to Stereo MP3 via Bluetooth since Palm Treo times, that was more than 7 years ago
what brand do you have?
is the sennheiser better nokia?
The problem with the music is that i think the wiring iphone/ bb uses is opposite to that of basically the rest of the world.
From what i can tell the ControlTalk Universal Apadtor should work but i havent tested it... can anyone confirm that it will fix the music problem?
I'm fed up with the galaxy based on these issues... maybe i'm selling my galaxy for a htc desire or buy a htc desire hd if my 250 euro headset collection is working again god dammit f*cking stupid samsung f*kkers

Music via micro usb?

Hello,
I'm considering to buy the new Desire HD, its the perfect HTC. Most of the time l'll be using it to listen to music. However there is a big problem. There is no joystick to operate easily the volume, next, previous... (my current phone is Tytn 2). That will be ok, if it was possible to operate the music form the headset. But as far as l know the 3.5mm jack cannot do that. So l'm asking, if is it possible to use the micro-usb to listen?
I'm using "special" 3.5mm headphones, l cannot (don't want to) replace them. But they don't have volume slider. I don't want every time to pull out the phone out of my pocket, out of the case and to operate it two handed just to switch the song, pause it or adjust the volume.
I don't want to use any other mp3 player. This is a habit of mine (using phone for music) since 5-6 years.
Thank You, l'm sorry for the dumb question and for my English.
The RC E160 should be compatible although I can't find any reference on HTC.com. Probably because the DHD is so new. The booklet I got within my DHD box does state the RC E160. But with bluetooth virtually everything is possible, eg. the Jabra BT3030.

Just checked the box again and found out that the included 3.5mm headset has a wired remote ;-) And oh yeah, they suck. Better go buy some cheap but real 'phones like Sony's EP-630, found them at bol.com for 23 euros. Just use the DHD screen, I'm sure you'll want to ;-)
(Would have posted links, but can't since not enough posts..)
Yes, l know about this headset, but l'm sure it sucks. l have nice Philips headphones, which are amazing. But in my every day l switch more than 200 songs, pause them et cetera. Its not practical and comfortable to use the screen every time, while hurrying.
You should consider one of those Bluetooth wathces.
Look at this thread for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554551
Thats quite genious! It's really good!
But why HTC and other companies made it worse?! Is it too hard to leave the joy pad?! Just to copy the bloody "fashion" design of the i-phone
And yet l have to invest more money just to listen to music....
Not always simple is better!
Thanks anyway!
However my question was, is it possible to use the usb port to listen music? Is it hardware or software thing?
The headphones are of very good quality, the sound is marvelous... it even can control next/previous/pause... can't control volume though
