Better integration of Touch 3D interface for X1 - XPERIA X1 General

I know it might be asked a bit much, but...
...on the one hand I like the Touch 3D, but what I really hate is that is blocks all of my today screen. Where do I put phoneAlarm for example? This application is just essential!
Would it be possible to extract the single parts of the Touch 3D application (e. g. contacts, email, program launcher, etc.) and convert these into separate panels for the X1?
Alternatively, would it be possible to get rid of the home screen of Touch 3D, only leaving the slide bar and the other screens? That way we could use the today plug-ins we like and keep the slide bar on the bottom to easily access weather, contacts, etc.
I am not a programmer and have no clue about how much or little effort that would be or if it is possible at all.

Here in that section you can find how to transform the entire Touch 3D HD into a single panel...check the main posts!

This might be helpful:

Thanks you two for your reply.
I already read through the posts and tried Touch 3D as Panel and as application only.
Having it run as a panel is just not convenient as most of the time I tend to use my windows today screen anyhow.
And to run it as an applications kills of my own today screen.
Actually all I want is:
Resize the home screen of Touch 3D so that at least one other application fits on the today screen?
(Ideally remove everything from the home screen of Touch 3D apart from the slide bar)

I use a program called secondtoday to switch between touchflo and other plugins. It works very well. search for it to find the details

Customization Help: Activate Touch Left to Right and Right to Left

Hey folks,
I have been browsing this forum this past week since I got my Sprint Touch/Elf/Vogue. I am looking for something very simple, because I do not want to disable the functionality of the preinstalled cube or Sprint.
I am looking to basically be able to slide my today screen from left to right and have a "quick launch" page with icons. Basically turning my today page into a second "cube".
Would touch commander do this without messing up the current cube settings? I have read posts about UltimateLauncher, but do not need the tabs, ect.. Just the functionality of swiping left to right to get to another "blank" launcher screen.
What do you recommend?
The ultimateLauncher seems to best fit your requirements.
And about the tabs - you can disable them (just set their height to 0).
You could also try throttleLauncher - it's not a cube, but still can make good use of your screen space by giving you ability to scroll trough app icons..
Thank you Mr Deimos,
I installed UltimateLauncher and am working on setting it up to fit my needs. this program is awesome..
Any suggestions for a .tga to .ico converter?
Gimp (freeware) can do it quite well. You can grab its normal windows install version at:
http://www.gimp.org/windows/
Or get a portable version here:
http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/gimp_portable
The portable version can run from a USB memory (pendrive, memory card reader etc).

TF3d specifics on HD

ok, stupid question, but seeing as i still have an old trinity i dont know any better- with TF3D, when typing an email/sms etc and i flip the phone to landscape to type better on the keyboard, does the screen flip around automatically as well? i remember reading that it did for some functions but not all..... is this true?
reason i ask is that if it does i will get the HD instead of the touch pro/xperia, as the screen is plenty big enough for a decent keyboard, without adding thickness that comes with a keyboard phone....
Hi
in the vidoe it flips the screen in serveral funktions. If the HD has that sensor I guess it will work with e-mail and so on. Where did you read that it does not flip in all functions?

If your asking if it has a G- sensor ... I havn't seen or heard anything about it from the specs. But I guess check the videos and see if it the screen flips when you physically flip the device.
it does have the acceleratormeter aka g-sensor and only works for certain programs ie.. pictures/opera. but like the gsen progam for the diamond, it can and will probably made compatible for the TOUCH HD. search you tube for gsen program for the diamond that allows the screen to rotate when it's turn.
I thought so I mean how could it not. lol

Edit TouchFLO 3D possible ???

Hi all
I am wondering if it is possible to edit TouchFlo 3D. I dont mean just changing colours and graphics, I mean change its contents. I would like to be able to edit the items that appear on it and add my own shortcuts to programs. Is this possible ?
Many thanks
That's really the whole point of the programs tab. You can add or remove existing tabs within the settings too.
I seriously doubt custom app tabs would be possible as this would require TF3D to render the app within itself.
Would be cool though if you could install custom tabs or build your own though... Not something I've looked into, anyone know if this is possible?
Tasks
Hi everyone,
Touch HD = my 1st WinMo Device. Coming from an N95 slightly dissapointed with camera and lack of group SMS but love everything else.
Is there a way to display tasks on the today screen in Touch Flo 3d?

Group SMS, you can almost certainly install a program for this! I've never used one myself but just a google search turns up a few...
First few results from google:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-group-sms.html
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/SMS/Group-SMS-56808.shtml
http://group-sms.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile
As I said never used it, not tried any of these but there will most certainly be people on this forum who can advise you better.
You might want to check out SecondToday for today screen tasks, they are not displayed directly on the TF3D today screen but are just 1 button away.

Am I the only one that I like the window today screen??

To be honest, I tried the touch flo 3d, the home 2, but the only thing I like is the normal, clean windows mobile today screen i like it, its neat , organized, and the xperia wallpaper gives it an elegant look. I alos modified the left menu key to initiate a new sms
what do u think?
I like it's neat clean look, but I prefer using the SE Today Panel.

Same here, a big fan of Winmo Today screen. When I jumped ship from Palm OS to Winmo, the Today screen really makes me forget I ever had a Palm OS device... Although the fond memories of rock hard stability creeps out now and then.
Currently Using itje's incredible Touch-IT v4.5 ROM. The Touchflo is nice, but more of a gimmick then anything else... Give me plain old Today screen anytime.
It just seems easier on the Today screen, that's why I have a lite rom installed, along with TF3d and panels.
I tend to always end up back at the default today screen. Something just nice about it.
Yeah I use it all the time now as it seems to be the most customisable without being fiddley and does all I want it too... I would like a today that is a combination of several of the panels but so far have found nothing that I like more than the normal today...
i use the today screen as my default screen when at work as i like to be in control of how many appointments are displayed, reminders, etc. it's nice to be able to switch to another panel for the weekends though ...
i'm a bit concerned about some of the screenshots for wm 6.5. does the today screen still exist ?
The standard Today just works. Give you access to what a PDA is for, PIM. There is a plugin called TodayAgenda which makes it perfect though.
glad you guys think the same way
btw, any idea how to make a shortcut for the start button? I downloaded a program, H button, that enables me to long press a key and a program comes up... but i want to access the start menu that way

Are you trying to assign a hardware key to Start Menu? If so, go to Start>Settings>Buttons
All this talk is making me want to use the Today panel more! I just tweaked it a little bit and I'm going to give it a try next week.
Does anybody know of a way to get more programs on it? Skype is on the list, and I think TomTom is, but I'd like a couple others.
I need to use the today screen to see the G-Alarm plugin, how much Internet traffic I had this month (SPB Wireless). Also I find it very convenient to use Elecont Dialer (a scrollable row of contacts to call or sms) and Elecont Launcher (a scrollable row of apps).
So I usually end up using it, even if SPB Shell is more touch-friendly. It just doesn't display all the information I need in one screen.
I always seem to go back to the spb panel as my default. its simple and looks clean i think compared with tf3d and point ui. im hopeing that when the new 3.0 shell comes out that it wont replace the spb x1 panel (although i know it will).
I've tried all the panels, shells etc. You name them, I've tried them. As said before, the Touch-IT v4.5 ROM is nice, but gimmicky. I admit I've installed it, but only to get GPS tagging of photos. I untick it in Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items immediately after it's installed.
I appreciate all the work that's gone into developing it, but its way too busy for me
My preferred interface is iFonz 2. The interface can be as simple or as 'busy' as you like. I prefer to have just a few icons of the programs I use regularly on screen as well as icons for the frequently called contacts. Also its very finger friendly.
For the programs that I use infrequently, it's no hassle to find them in Start -> Programs, and contacts are easy to find in iContacts

Hey friends, I'm with you. I think the today screen is one of the best inventions of Microsoft and is really underrated. It just makes sense to have active plugins share the most precious place on a mobile - the information screen after switching the device on. I think the iPhone is ridiculous in this regardö - just showing icons of the programs that can be launched is lame. Also, there are really powerful plugins available for Windows Mobile. I'm personally using the built in date/time and messages plugin together with PocketBreeze for all the organizer stuff and PocketPlus for system status (battery, memory), finger friendly app launcher and additional plugins as tab (spb weather actuall). Then I use the system tray as quicklaunch and for showing the currently selected phone profile from PhoneWeaver and my softkeys start Contacts and WM5NewMenu, with which I can very quickly place a new appointment, SMS, Email, Note and so on. With this setup, I can really use the device, not only play. Everything is just one or two clicks/actions away and I always have a good overview of what's going on.
I really don't understand why so many people want a better iPhone instead of a good Windows Mobile device. Windows Mobile has drawbacks but also strong points, of which the today screen is one of the strongest I think.
I am also a big fan of the Windows today page. I think it's the only one that can be entirely adapted to everyone's need, all other software are nice graphically, but not as effective as a well prepared today page.

[REQ] 6.5 Home Screen Suggestions/Ideas

Hey guys,
XDA developers obviously has some of the best mobile phone developers, so I thought I'd give suggestions for any bored coders on ideas I have for panels on the new 6.5 interface.
The WMP panel is pretty useful apart from the fact it only applies to WMP, there's a S2P alternative which I think is a good move but wouldn't it be better to create a program that lets you pick the player of your choice (e.g. S2P) from a list and then it will display the information and controls for that player. This means would mean less single players panels and a more all-in-one solution.
To this day I do NOT understand why tasks are such a pain in WinMo, on my old N95 tasks it displayed tasks on the today screen or atleast the amount I had stored. I think there's already something of this nature on the forum so ignore this one.
A quick lauch would be great considering the old 6.1 start menu was like that, but I'm not too sure if many people will want this feature back.
That's all of the ones I can think of, but if I get more I'll update this thread. Please state any thoughts or opinions you have .
150+ views and not one opinion! Geez.
I don't know if anyone has used the i8910 HD but the today screen work/looks really good and the fact there's a lock button on the today screen I think is a good move, maybe a lock panel on 6.5 would be a good step forward.

There are already QuickLaunch plugins for Titanium.
The music plugin would be a great idea, but unfortunately, I think it would take up too much space and too much developing time. I think we should develop the ones we have first.
There's one thing I wish Microsoft added to 6.5, unfortunately, I don't think there's much we can do about it on XDA. I think if we added the ability to hide the Titanium panel and easily open it again. Maybe if they took like the Hide/Show Desktop button from Windows 7 (the rectangular one) and added it to the left side of the home screen. So you hold it and slide it out, and the Titanium Menu unfolds... I'll have to work on mock ups of the idea in Photoshop.
I think an RSS plugin would be awesome

about showhide desktop button
if you have used manila 2d there was 1 such app(manila control) for which would hide manila and return to normal today screen and vice versa
maybe someone can do it with titanium
or maybe second today(the name of app is "second today") will work
Good to hear people's ideas.
The launcher does it use MortScript I was looking for something more stand alone.
For what it's worth, i would really like to see an Overclocking utility plug in for wm6.5 I use homescreen but i hate not to be able to see the cpu speeds and temperature in the plug in, i cant even tell if homescreen is working when its unchecked and the default titanium plug in is enabled.

CLauncher uses Mortscript to set up but can be changed and be set up directly in the registry.
GLauncher from gullum does use an own Editor and supports more pages, moreover you can set one program to start from the panel, displayed on the left icon (pictures in the registry) and another set on the left softkey and displayed on the icon top right (icon in the registry).
