Volume step - Touch HD General

I find the fact, that there is only 5 steps of volume level available, very very annoying
Is there any way to increase the number of steps?
Thanks

Good question! i'd be interested in this also!

Would also like to remove the soft start of ringtones on Samsung.

you also can press directly on the screen if the amount of volume you would to keep, if it's not on the few steps possible
that's what i usually do, more precise

What is also annoying when you push volume up/down it changes your ring volume and NOT the system volume by default. Pain in the a$$

I think it depends on the last tab you were on; system vs ring volume.
But yes you can use your finger as a slider to make fine adjustments.

Nope mine definitely defaults at ring volume all the time.
I sometimes want to alter the volume in the pocket but the jumps are too big.

There was/is a diamond tweak program (maybe from schaps) that allows you to limit the max volume. In doing so the steps become smaller.
Someone told me so .... i didnĀ“t tested it.

is that site in english as well somewhere as I cant figure out how to use the cab, other than installing it.

Google offers translation servives... try this link...
http://translate.google.com/transla...=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7ADBF

Thanks I've installed the cab and soft reset the phone to take effect.
Now it defaults to system volume rather than ring volume.
Sadly still jumps 3 levels though.

yep, changing the volume by 10% or maybe 5% steps with the buttons would be fantastic. maybe someone can write a tools for it...

I second this request! It would be a nice little tweak to the Touch HD if the volume steps were reduced a bit. As it is now, I sometimes find myself in situations where the volume is either a little bit too loud or a little bit too quiet. Hitting that sweet spot in between would be a big improvement!

You can have more steps using touch screen, but it works only in System tab. Ring tab still have big steps.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! It does solve my problem, since it was the system volume I wanted to fine-tune (e.g. for music). It still would be nice if these smaller volume steps could be mapped to the hardware volume button as well, since I sometimes need to adjust the sound on the go. That would be easier if I didn't have to do it via the touch screen.

Same problem for me. Steps with the side button are too big.

Anyone knows if there is a tweak to increase the number of steps for the sound bars? This is immensily frustrating. I CANT listen to music with the HD since it's either too soft (6%) or too loud (13%)...
This is really pathetic...

Keyboard "click" sound volume. Independent Control?

Hi folks,
Hope you can help.
I've switched off haptic feedback on the keyboard and find it a lot more usable without it. I've activated the "clicky" sound on the keys as this suits me best, however, the volume of the click driving the wife and my co-workers mental. I even got some dirty looks this morning on the train from others as I furiously (not really) typed out some emails.
Problem is, the keyboard sound volume seems to be tied in directly with the system sounds volume!
I need the system sounds high for text message alerts etc, but then, the keyboard is super loud; bring it down to an acceptable level and I can't hear texts coming in etc. To be honest even on low setting its excessively loud..
Is there any way around this? A reg tweak, substituting the wav file with a lower volume one? I don't even know where to start to be honest and appreciate any help you guys can give.
Thanks in advance!!!

Sorry guys, just saw this thread. Didn't come up earlier for some reason:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=588179&highlight=Keyboard+Volume
I tried the CAB there and it didn't lower the volume noticably. Is there a way to lower if further?
I've made a quieter version (attached). It's probably too quiet now
It's probably best if you uninstall the last version first, a soft reset is required after installation
Thanks soooo much!!
Installed and its better already!
Thanks again.

Cab to lower the incall volume?

Would anybody please try to make a cab that would somehow lower the incall volume?
I know there are many of us that "hate" our Leo for damaging our ears! Please help us fix that!
Don't point us to HTC support! Have been trying that for about 7 weeks now, with no real result but pathetic fixes.

GG
First off I will be moving this thread to general when I have finished responding.
Secondly, can you explain your problem a little better please. If you really mean turn the in-call volume down, ie NOT when the phone is in speakerphone mode, you can do this now by simply holding the down volume key while in the call to make it happen.
If this is not what you mean then have another go at explaining yourself.
Cheers

unless i've read this wrong i think you win the worst question of the year award...lol
as above, just turn down the volume.
sorry to but in here and sorry if its a noob question but i've had the same problem...
when i answer a call the volume is so loud everyone around me can hear the call!
now i've tried clicking the side key to lower the volume but it goes to the black screen with the bar and silent and vibrate on there and its only on 6%
I'd want to say (another noob comment) that i have sometimes found the sound is irregular, sometimes its low but normally very loud... isnt there meant to be a function where you place the phone next to you're ear and it lowers the volume so its not damaging you're ears?
I think that question is valid. You can only turn it down so much. All sounds on HD2 are too loud; be it call, music, speakerphone, ringing. You can hear speaker breaking at 50%, and your ears bleeding at more. Distortion is present even at low values.
So, I'm with OP, but I want to expand request: how to lower ALL volume on HD2? In other words, instead 10-100%, I want 1-10%.
maybe i just havent noticed due to being pretty much death
the question should be: how to reduce the default incall vol, is that right?
The earpiece and handsfree produce a lot of noise, I agree. there are a few threads already about volume too high and poor sound quality i.e. distorted audio. with earpiece calls try raising the volume first to just above minimum, then keep lowering the volume even when level indicator has reached minimum to reduce call volume further.
Don't be quick to judfe please!

Maybe I haven't explain myself well enough. Why do you and all the smart asses that gave all that cheap advice think that just because we're not mods or developers we're dumb.
It is a well known problem with the HD2. Even with the volume all the way down (while talking on the phone) it's still very loud!!!! Very Very Loud! And I don't mean that trough speaker phone but through the earpiece!
Does this justify my frustration and my legitimate question?
If you can't say nothing good say nothing at all!
thank you!
I know of those threads!

We do expect more of the senior members here but then again maybe we're wrong in doing so!
why do you assume I don't know how to use the volume buttons?
It's a well known fact that hd2 is very loud while incall and even with the volume all the way down is still too loud!!!
G
its loud indeed,
I and I would be personally intrested in lowering the top volume, so highest settings are more reasonable, and stepping down from that actually make it lower sensibly
I had this issue with the call volume being too loud even when turned down, and sometimes it would distort/crackle with certain words/letters. I used the following registry tweak and it's worked absolutely perfectly for me. I've used it on the old ROM and the latest.
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\inCall AND InCall2
Change the value of InitVol to "2" in both inCall and inCall2
See if that helps

I've done that too but that volume is for incall notifications only. You can verify that by having someone call you while you're engaged in a call. You will barely hear them if you turn the volume to "2".
thank for trying though!

list of issue with hd2 still unsolve

hi guys,
i still have a list of hd2 issue yet to be solve, can any kind soul reply with solutions here in sequence.
1) when i am on my wired earpiece, the volume is so max that it can be unbearable at times. i know i have the volume rocker to up and down the volume to suit my hearing but then if i lower my volume it also carried the low volume to the connected calls. is there a workaround for this?
2)when i am on a connected call, i can hear hissing sound which is so irritating and the other party on my line ask if i'm on speakermode. workaround? volume is soft as well by the way.
3)phone hangs alot and i have to remove the cover and battery, the usual standard procedure. i know it could be manila.exe accumulating resources so high that it can be disruptive. the only solution i have now is restart at periodic time to maintain phone usefulness.
4)Weather not updating.
5)Flash player on HD2 if there is.
i cant think of anymore now.. maybe later..
sometimes when i felt my phone was stable for a few days it hangs unexpectedly. but there so much tweaking that needs to be done on this phone that i have to take a risk bricking the phone. there is really endless tweaking to this phone. imagine if i were to hardreset and reinstall all tweaks and stuffs .. it will be a nightmare when i have gone so far in tweaking it.
thats WM..

Default Call Volume? Volume drops to 1/4 by itself

Hi,
For some reason my phone will automatically drop the volume to 1/4 the full volume.
Even if I just made a call (and adjusted it to full) then go to call someone else it will drop.
any ideas ?
Thanks

I had the same problem - possible fix
I had the same problem, when I answerd a call the volume was at 1/4 even after turning it up in previous calls. This (taken from forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4840214&postcount=12) fixed part of it. Now when I answer a call the volume is always at max.
Increase voiceVolume:
Registry: HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall
Key: AttenuationCategory
Default: 2
New Value: 1
Registry: HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall
Key: InitVol
Default: 3
New Value: 7
I'm using the stock ROM for Att's Pure. I still think the sound quality isn't quite up to par with my old tilt(kaiser).
I tried the other steps listed at the thread above but couldnt get them to work. When I changed the path to the new AudioPara3_ATTMax.csv file I got no sound like it was mute.
Full post here - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4840214 - ATT Tilt 2 In Call Volume. Sorry for the blue txt, I cant post links yet
Thanks for the tip Linwe.
I guess that is why I've never experienced this because one of the first things I do is replace the AudioPara file.

Thanks so much for that file! I tried the ones on the other thread and couldn't get them to work, this one works great. I used total commander to overwrite the original \Windows\AudioPara3.csv file and the in call volume is 100% better now.

Yeah, there was a set of 3 versions for Low, Mid and High w/Dist floating around but I didn't care for the distortion on high, this one works much better.
Im not sure what I am doing wrong. I copied the new file and pasted it to the windows folder and over writ the old one. Soft reset the phone and cant really tell any difference in the the volumes. Now you say this is supposed to change all volumes and not just the earpiece volume right?
"All Volume"
I'm a little skeptical here. Will "All Volume" affect the G Sensor activated auto lower ring volume when phone is pick up that is working now.

There's definitely a difference on my phone. Speaker phone and ear piece volumes increase, although I do not think it affects bluetooth.
I've attached the really loud one if you want to try it. You will most certainly hear the difference but I do not use this one because it distorts at full volume.

Volume reduction on pickup will still function (may be slightly louder than it was originally, but it will still reduce the volume.)

Volume setting was resistant to being permanently reduced, so I just kept poking and prodding at different volume settings and finally success. Good luck....

Interesting. You should have 3 dots in the upper right corner for more settings. Perhaps your country doesn't require the warning?
The high volume warning is an EU thing, annoying AF.
No 3 dots in volume settings either. Though I have seen this warning before on my a50. I am not sure if it appeared also for my s10 for first time or not but now it doesnt occur anymore. In my country, it gives that warning only for first time you try to raise the volume I guess.
Samtweak v2 worked for me
I'm using a UK Vodafone S10 Plus, ive just checked my volume. I don't get that message at all on mine. Maybe cause I use the app Volume Boost by Goodev. Only use it to increase the volume, didnt know it even had that feature, never checked til just now, or maybe it's not the app and I didnt have it in the first place. Don't want to uninstall it to find out. Never bothered me that much anyway.
