I'm looking for a Sandisk 8GB MicroSDHC Class4. Any Idea where? - Touch Pro, Fuze Accessories

At the moment I'm using a Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC Class 4 and let me tell you; IT SUCKS.
The speed it horrible comparing to my Sandisk 2GB Class 2.
Therefore I would like to get a Sandisk instead. They are pretty cheap these days online. Amazon is selling a Sandisk 8GB class4 for only $16 + shipping. However I'm from Canada, shipping is a monster. On Ebay, most of them are fake and not even Class 4. So do you guys have any suggestion for me on where to buy a "Real" Sandisk 8GB class 4? (well, no need to be Real, as long as it's fast)

I'm not sure about the sandisk class 4 I would try perhaps Amazon.com on that. But as for Micro SDHC cards go this is by far the best card for the price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208453 Just in case you are wondering it is a class 6 and I have this card personally and can verify that it operates at the class 6 specs.
Edit: Here is a link for sandisk 8gb cards http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_g...s&field-keywords=8gb+micro+sd+sandisk&x=0&y=0

Amazon.com and newegg.com doesn't ship microsd card to Canada.
As stupid as it sounds, newegg.ca doesn't have any 8GB microSD other than from A-Data... and I had really bad experience with that company.

That's strange that they won't ship them to Canada, but anyways I have used A-DATA for many years now and I have never had a bad experience possibly you just happend to get a bad product which unfortunately happens sometimes. I suggest A-DATA to lots of people and trust them myself so it might not hurt to try them again. Just my thoughts (man I feel like an A-DATA spokesperson LOL)
Edit: Just checked newegg.ca and found http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208453 which is the exact card I recommended.

Have you ever use Transcend card?
it's the first time I heard of it... are they good?

Yes I as previously stated I have that exact card and have been very happy with it. I also have 4GB of their ram in the very computer I am typing this with. For more info on them check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcend and make note of the quote "On September 2008, IDC India reported that Transcend ranked number 1 in sales of flash memory products, including USB flash drives and flash cards, in 2007, beating Kingston and SanDisk[2]."

Hey, if you have the same card, can you do me a favor and time how fast can a Class card transfer 1gb file?
This is insane... their shipping rate is $13 and Handling $3

I get about 6MBs write and between 9-10MBs read I just wrote a 1GB dummy file to it and about 3.5-4 mins. But that was with a card reader that support class 6 cards so results may vary on that expect them to be lower in the phone through usb. The test was performed with Roadkil.net Unstoppable Copier http://roadkil.net/program.php?ProgramID=29

My Kingston 8Gb Class 4 take about 4min to transfer 1GB as well. I find it slow. When I did a benchmark using PocketMechanics, the write speed is only 2MBs. That's why i'm returning it. Now that you're telling me it take you 3.5-4mins, I think my card is not that bad, then.
When you said 6MBs write, how did you test it?

The program I tested it with is listed there and I just took the averages sometimes it is higher very rarely is it any lower.

find a friend who works at futureshop or bestbuy and get them to buy you one. their employee's discount is sick.
Or, if you're in vancouver, check http://www.ncix.com. they sometimes have good deals. best of all, staples are sometimes willing to pricematch/beat them

Rank in sales means nothing if you're looking for quality. 90% or more of the time the top name in sales is NOT the best quality, just the best value. Sandisk is definitely better quality.

I beleive those were SANDISK, not Samsung. And again, I don't think they are avail yet. Should be before Xmas.

I contacted memorybits.co.uk in the UK and they said hopefully by 2nd November it will be in stock. Not a bad price at £55.
And still no answer to this question:
Re: C4 or C6, does the Kaiser even take advantage of the C6 speed? i.e. I know it can read it, but can it read/write that fast to it to see the difference between C2, C4, and C6? I've asked this and no one has answered it.
I mean, why wait or pay extra for a C6 if the TyTN II reader can't even sustain that speed?
IMHO, it doesn't really matter. If you want to xfer a large amount of data onto or off the card, the extra bandwidth will be useful.
Plus, I *always* try and buy the best quality part I can. For example, I own SD card camcorders too, and it is always best to put as fast a card as possible in those.

Jomo, I agree that performance and quality do count.
However, with Sandisk surely they only produce one 6GB micro SD card?? If this is the case, why don't you e-mail them about it and ask for the detailed spec?
I've tried contacting them but they've not replied yet.
Not to sure about the speed, bit I received mines today, and I love it. I see no speed difference in reading and writing on the tilt. Mines is the scandisk.
Anybody seen 8GB Sandisk's in the wild? I.E. at Best Buy or Verizon or anywhere? What class are they?
I *just* got my 6GB class4 from Amazon today... but I'd pay the extra for 8 if I didn't have to wait...

I have the Sandisk 6GB card. it's Class 4. My question is, if they come out with a Class 8 one later, can the TyTN II take advantage of the speed? I.e. What's the Kaiser's max speed? I'm sure the festest cards would still be readable, but not sure if it would perform faster than a Class 4 if the Kaiser is the "bottleneck".
As for 8GB, I don't think they are generally avail yet, esp not in the US. I wouldn't expec tot see those available via US mail order til about mid Nov at least, and in stores like BB and CC? Not til next year I bet. They don't even have 6GB cards yet in places like Best Buy, Circuit City, and Fry's Elex...

What memorycard is to prefer?

Hi all!
What memorycard is to prefer?
I know it is microSD, but there's so many different microSD's out there so how will I know which one to choose? (classes, speed a.s.o.)
If we don't care about memory size (4-8-16GB) what is the very best to use?
Best memory?
Best memory/$?
What memory NOT to use?

This is a totally personal opinion. You will find that among us professional geeks, we have brand preference.
When It comes to Solid State Media, I always pay a little more the get a SanDisk item from a reputable dealer.
Every Card CF or SD or my MicroSD, has been SanDisk Manufactured and I've never been disappointed.

OK guys, thx for your input!
@JimmyMcGee: Yeah, I too has allways payed a little extra when choosing between some things, in most cases it's clearly that you get what you payed for, I mean, even if you look beyond brand names a.s.o. there often is a difference between the cheap and the more expensive ones.
But my reson for this Q was foremost to clarify the speed and class issue, is someone better then the other, so except brand, what more do I need to consider?
I bought a Scandisk 8gb. Play.com have them for £16.99 with free delivery.
I found this after i ordered the same from mobymemory which was more expensive.
I am also looking for a microSD card for my future friend Raphael.
I want the fastest 8 GB MicroSD card available that can be used in Raphael. €10 more or less, I dont care but I dont want to pay for overkilling the spec.
What MicroSD do you recommend, if not this one that I have found:
SanDisk Mobile Ultra 8GB microSDHC
http://www.i4u.com/full-review-447.html
Would it work fine in a Raphael?
Have anyone used it in an other HTC?
Simple:
Dont buy a memory that don't have "C" logo with class number in it.
If it doesn' have it, there's probably nothing to be proud of.
Currently you can get a decent-prized "class 6" memory with 4 GB or 8 GB capacity.
Class 6 is faster than Class 2 and Class 4 of course.
Cheers,
bought a sandisk 8gb microsd sdhc card .. 7700 mb free

@corsa2: this is probably the same card it is pretty fast and works fine as these are designed for mobile phones
Just buy a SanDisk. Work out how much memory you are likely to need - get a card with more than you require and MAKE SURE ITS A SANDISK! this will avoid fighting for refunds, hours trying to reformat, burnt dinners cause you are engrossed in the problem, angry women who just don’t understand why you don’t pay them any attention anymore, females who fight back when you loose you temper cause your new "good value" f'n card has failed and you refuse to accept the fact - BUY A SANDISK... I don’t work for SanDisk but they do work for me and will probably work for you…
Just bought a Touch Pro... will update my sig when I've decided which ROM to install...
Rgs,
J
SanDisk Mobile Ultra 8GB is superb!
Bought this one for my MDA Vario IV (T-Mobile branded HTC Touch Pro) for 40 euro at the Phone House (Netherlands). This class 6 micro SDHC was 10 euro more expensive than a class 4 device, but worth every cent!!
I've used several brands micro SDHC cards, but i'll stick to SanDisk now, maybe more expensive but reliable: no issues at all for about 3 years of use in my PPC's.
I don't have a Touch Pro yet (that will change in around 3-4 days though), but I do have a Sandisk 8 Gb class 4 card, which is very good but unfortunately isn't sold anymore, now there's only class 2 and 6 (which is extremely expensive).
I tested it with H2testw and got the following results:
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 11.4 MByte/s
Reading speed: 16.8 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
I was wondering if anyone with a class 6 card could do the same test?

There are a number of dependable cards out there. Amazon has user feedback on each of their cards which can be useful to help you decide which card is best for you. Which ever card you chose, make sure you format it before you use it. Put the card into a card reader and format it FAT32 on your computer at least once. The ROM should not be a factor in you device reading your card, FORMAT the card...David.
Ok thx for the information

Hi, I just wanted to ask a question regarding microSDHC cards:
Does the class of the card make that much of a difference (in terms of smoothness of video playback) ?
I'm not too bothered about write spead.
The reason I ask, is because I can't really find anywhere (I don't use ebay) in the uk (online) that's selling reputable 16gb class 6 microSDHC cards (that are in stock). Will class 2 really be a step down ?

Class does matter in speeds. So I would say yes, but you won't notice it.

No, absolutely no difference at all.
The only time the class will make a significant difference is if you take the card out of the phone and connect it to your PC's USB port using an adaptor. A high-speed card connected like that can be written to a lot faster than it can while it's in the phone. But otherwise you're limited to the speed the phone can access the card at - which is a lot slower.
It's also worth saying that a class 2 card made by one of the better manufacturers (Sandisk, for example) may well be faster than a generic class 4 or even class 6 card - class 2 means it's guaranteed that you can write to it at 2MB/s or faster, but the ratings of cards from good manufacturers tend to be very conservative.
As for video, the bit-rate of a video file is not that high. My Touch Pro 2 maxes out at about 750 kilobits per second on an .mp4. The read-speed of even the worst class 2 card will be at least 2 megabytes per second - which is more than 20 times as fast. The Leo will probably be able to cope with higher bit-rates than the TP2, but certainly not 20 times as high.
That's just what I was hoping to hear
Thanks!

Unfortunately, it looks like they won't be getting these in stock for at least 3 weeks

Don't HTC have an online store in UK? Here they have Transcend 16GB Class 6 cards in stock, although they usually charge more than anyone else for what they sell.
I personally prefer to have the fastest cards available simply because it pays off when you transfrer large amounts of data (music, video) via a card reader. Also, my older cards go to my digital camera where it is important.

Maybe they are, but not at that link. That's a full-size SD card.

That seems to be their online store, and they only seem to go up to 2gb cards.
I've had good luck with these guys:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0019O351C/ref=ox_ya_oh_product
Note that these are expensive class 6 devices - good for high speed transfers when plugged straight into a card reader, but makes no difference at all when actually in the phone.
Bargain...
Chec out this deal from an affiliate of Amzon.co.uk:

I had a look at them a couple of days ago, but some of the comments left as negative feedback put me off them (in terms of customer support and refunds).

My mistake. Here is the correct link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-1...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256744907&sr=1-1
And the correct price is also 50 Euros.

Best 32 GB MicroSD Card?

What is the best brand/type of 32 GB MicroSD card to buy? Should I get "high speed?" Also, can you recommend a good place to buy one?
Thanks!!

I got a wintec 32GB class 10 today and its really fast.
Bought it on newegg and got it in 1 day and
did a test
no errors.
it writes 15.2 MB/Sec pretty fast.
Its about $75 tho.
$75 + 16gb TF is still cheaper than the 32gb TF, plus you get an extra 16gb of storage!
I read some reviews about the Wintec and other class 10 32gb cards that they don't hold up too long with Android and other smarth phone devices.
Are you looking for the best price or the best product no matter the price ?
It's one of those few things that you don't buy from ebay
Stick to Amazon or something.

I was referring to cards on Newegg, not eBay.
If you read the reviews, people say they aren't made for smartphones/tablets and in some cases say that when they contacted the company about their issues that the company also verified they may not work well with smartphones/tablets.
got a 16gb class 10 from play uk...15 quid..
will buy a 32gb when its price comes down a bit
For the money I have always stuck with Sandisk. I have a 32gb in my Evo (got it when Verizon was practically giving them away) and I will likely get one for the TF. Unfortunately they only make a class 2 card that uploads relatively slow but I can deal with that, it reads plenty fast enough to play back HD video.
What is the minimum card speed you would buy? And why?
Please delete, dupe
I wouldn't get too caught up in the whole speed thing. Different vendors have different rules for how they rate their cards and none of them really seem to be terribly consistent. In real world usage, the class rating doesn't often reflect real world usage speed. I've bought class 10 cards that were slower then class 2's and cheap cards that worked better than more expensive ones. The single best advice is if you can forget about the specs just buy a genuine Sandisk card and life will be good.
Working with the NookColor a lot before the Transformer lots of people wanted to dual boot their NC off the SD card and so we all went out and bought class 10's and we all complained that our devices would not boot or were painfully slow. Meanwhile, the guys with the class 2-4 Sandisks were running without a problem because those cards are just designed really well. So if you just want a bucket of cheap storage pickup anything that's reviewed well on Newegg and you should be fine. If you want the best built card for the money Sandisk is really the only way to go.
Findmike speaketh the truth.
I have had problems with SanDisk over the years. No matter what card you get, your mileage may vary.
Personally, I have had the best luck with Transcend brand and Lexar class 6 microSD 16GB cards in many different devices and scenarios. I have read about more problems from 32GB cards than the 16GB ones. Some of the cases seem to be device and operating specific and other cases seem to memory card failure itself. I am going to try the Lexar brand class 10 32GB microSD and give it a shot. I am a glutton for punishment sometimes. Transcend would be my other choice.

DAMN YOU LOGIC!!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!
Had to say it. LOL!!!!
Im using the 32GB Class 4 SanDisk Micro Sd I got from my HTC Thunderbolt on the TF and I gotta say it works Very Cooooo
PNY were releasing 32GB class10 microSD cards for Tablet devices this week for $70 ($56 from newegg)
I'm using a 32GB SanDisk class 2 on my MT4G and a 32GB Transcend class 4 in my Asus Transformer and both cards download/upload pretty fast, the Transcend is a little bit faster.
The testing was done on the same phone and then again on the tablet. I used the Micro SD Card Tester app ($2) for all tests and performed them right after each other.
As other posters have said, my first choice would be the SanDisk and second would be the Transcend...based on pricing and availability of course.
Good luck on your quest...

Need SD card suggestion

What is the largest, fastest and most budget-minded SD card I can get for this device, preferably off of NewEgg...
I can't remember if the largest "recommended" size is 16gig or 32, but get a class 10. Also, don't go to New Egg, go to Meritline.com, much cheaper on the micro SD cards, and problably even cheaper elsewhere.

So always get class 10 for mobile devices? I'm not looking for a recommended size, I want the maximum size.
Also, NewEgg has class 10's for way cheaper than the site you mentioned.
I could be wrong, but I just thought the class indicated the speed of data transfer, so I've always gone for class 10. And yeah, I never noticed the price gap being so marginal on class 10 cards between New Egg and Merit Line. I've always used Merit Line for any media related purchases. Monoprice for anything cable related (I will slap anyone in the throat I meet face to face who spends $60 on a 6 foot "Monster" HDMI cable at Best Buy), and then NewEgg for everything else.

Gotcha. What brands should I stay away from? What ones should I strongly consider?
Will a 32GB card work on this device?
I used a 16gb, but I cannot remember what the manual said would be supported. However, I thin microSD only goes to 32, I'd wait for someone else to chime in to see if they use a 32gb without issue. I've never paid attention to brand, and it's worked out for me.

Is PNY any good? Kingston and SanDisk are great in my experience.
I know PNY makes good RAM, but have never used their sd cards.

I use the "ADATA 32GB Micro SDHC Flash Card, with Adapter Model AUSDH32GCL10-RA1". It's a Class 10 device and I've had no problems with it and the A500. It currently is $63.99 at Newegg and $72.95 at Meritline (sorry fermunkey!).

How long have you used this card?
I'm using a Duracell 16GB Class 6 and it works wonders. Only cost me $25 from a brick and mortar store too, which isn't too bad. You won't notice a significant difference between class 6 and class 10 on any Android device, so personally I wouldn't bother with the added cost of a class 10 card.

I've been using it since the end of July. I've got multiple backups on it as well as movies, music, etc.
Jeff.
I am using:
WINTEC FileMate 16GB Mobile Professional Class 10 microSDHC Card with SDHC Adapter
available at Newegg only 19.99...get a couple!!
@jlary - +1 on the AData 32gb micro sd card. Bought my A500 in May and same day ordered sd card from the Egg. Has worked flawlessly ever since including all my attempts to brick my A500 lol. Got all my movies and music and pictures on it plus backups and roms.
I'm using a 32 GB in mine. I'm not sure of the brand, but it is Class 10 and it works well. (I keep my movie files on it and play them from there.)
I also have a adata micro SD card I got from newegg stressed to full and it did not fail been working for three to four months
Sent from my ICONIA
+1 for ADATA. I use a 16GB class 10 and I am pretty pleased with the performance.
