Vito Winterface 1.2 released - Palm Treo Pro

There's a new version of Winterface released (v1.2), that fixes battery drainage on my Treo Pro and adds a few nice features too.
See my review here: Vito Winterface 1.2 Review on Treo Pro

I downloaded the trial and played around with it, but it seems there is a memory leak. After 24 hours, my Pro started to be too slow to work with and I had to soft reset. I noticed that RAM usage went slowly upwards every time I had used to interface to start apps. After uninstalling and using SPB Pocket Plus again, my Treo stayed fast and responsive. Looks like Vito has some work to do before the app is usable.

There's a new version released that fixes a lot of bugs and has some great new features too.

de-install spb and find another tool to do the functions you need.
had the same thing in several program-combi's and install-order
that bad huh.. i looked around and found Spb connected issues..
thanks
I use all pda soft by spb, I find it great. the problem you mentioned used to afflict also my 9000, but it has been 99% solved after installing the last pocketplus version (should be 3.1.2) which fixes the memory leak and looks like its a lot faster than the others. on the other hand, it is slow while loading the today plugin only after a soft reset or when you modify it, since it has to cache again all the icons, tabs and so on. apart from those events in my 9000 its rare delays are fairly acceptable if compared to an absolutely stable software, which is perfect in my opinion!
My MDA pro was very slow when I had the battery indicator used on my today screen. Removing it solved my problem. Maybe yours too...???
I also use the latest versions of SPB and of course the speed of your Universal will be slightly reduced. You are running some extra programs, but I find it working relativly quick. I still have 22mb of working memory left after a soft reset with all the SPB apps opened. Only SPB diary can take some seconds to load when you haven't used it for a while.

[POLL] TF3D vs SPB mobile shell

Lately I've been looking on this software spb mobile shell (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?en). I was just wondering from you guys who has used, how does it compare to TF3D? I'm mostly intressted in how much smoother (mem consumption) and how the battery will last using this instead of TF3D.
Let me hear your thoughts!
I would still favor TF3D as it makes use of GPU. I don't think SPB MS makes use of GPU.
i use spb shell. i like being able to use tabs on my today screen
TF3D is better for day-to-day use imho
I use them together - SPB as my launcher, task manager, start menu replacement, skinned to the max. TF3d for today screen . A little high in ram usage admittedly but it's there to be used surely!
I use TF3D and find it easier to use then SPB Mobile Shell.
Wow, alolt of voiting going on but such few comments. Im guessing half of all votes on TF3D hasnt even tried SPB ms.
Can u adapt the SPB to be more fingerfriendly?

than they choose only from the appearance. TF3D wins there in IMHO.
Mobile Shell is very finger friendly IMHO. I have used it on multiple devices. I liked it a lot on my Touch for that very reason. With that said I am liking TF3D a lot. Being able to read text, preview email, play music, see the weather in my area, & click on my most used programs right from the today screen by sliding my thumb across the screen is awesome. I also see TF3D becoming much more customizable in the future over Mobile Shell. So I have to go with TF3D right now.
TF3D for me, didn't like it at first, but with so many customization around for it now, mobile shell is a no match
spb shell is nice and simple and all on the one page
I use spb for the first day and it looks good, i will decide in a few days which is better...
I've tried both and both lack customisation to the extent to which I would like, for example support for 3rd party plugins on the HOME/Now screen. Neither has the able to show tasks on these screens (there have been many requests for this on both TF3D and SPB MS).
I'm currently using TF3D, but probably only because it comes with the phone.
I still await someone to either develop the above two much further or for someone to create an entirely new interface.
I personally think the the standard Windows interface is far more customisable (but lacking the 'TouchFLO-ness'!)
TF3D for me
used shell but i brought this phone for the TF3D
what about SPB Mobile Shell V3 compared to TF3D?
TF3D is dead to me !

So about a week ago I decided to give SPB Mobile Shell V3 a try......I had tried Point UI and just using WinMo 6.1 before and neither seemed to even get close to the TF3D!
But....after ONE day with SPB Mobile Shell V3, I had already whipped out the VISA and spent $30 on the full version of SPB Mobile Shell V3!
No more hacking and Modding every little detail of TF3D, no more soft resets just to change the smallest slider.....no more lagging when I try and get around my phone....NO MORE TF3D !
I am in love....and everyone should give it a shot....It to me feels like a cross between the best of TF3D and the Gooogle Platform...
I added a couple screenshots.....
I tried MS3 for around 5 days to give it a try. Never used a shell like that before.
I've now switched back to Rhodium Manila- much more functional.
MS3 was nice for weekends and when there was nothing going on.
But when it came to checking messages, sending messages (email & sms), finding appointments- it didn't hold up as well as TF3D. The new RHodium version is even better. I'm not quite ready to give up PocketInformant, and since there is no integration with MS3 for that or PhoneWeaver I'm sticking with TF3D.
I'd reconsider MS3 if they worked on letting people customize their own widgits and made integration with other apps possible. But for now- sorry.
TF3D...
TF3D for me as well. I've tried every UI available for my Diamond, and not one of them has stopped me going back to TF3D within a couple of days.
It's all personal choice of course, but TF3D just does everything I need so completely
I've been using MS3 for a few days now and I really like it but I'm almost sure that I will go back to TF3d as soon as Rhodium Manila is bug-free and not beta any more.
TF3D is by far the BEST hands down!! Its so much more sexy looking an gets you to where you need to get to on the UI it self!! I feel like spb ms3 has to much going on an you have to tap so many different buttons to navigate around it.... I feel like sometimes less is more an htc has nailed it!! Im currently using sheps wm6.5 with TF3D V2 in the rom an its runs like a beauty, almost perfect!!!

SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 Out

Just installed this...pretty nice...
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/
I've been waiting for this! Really liked SPB 2 but was not satisfied with certain features, limitations. Was getting impatient for 3, tried PointUI Home 2 once it finally launched, and while it's really a slick and user friendly interface, it seems to be a memory-hog, gobbling up almost half of my available RAM on my XV6800. Toyed with Winterface (too limited and cludgy), even tried simple HTC Home plugin (clean and efficient, was willing to settle on that until SPB 3 came out).
Now SPB 3 is out, and first impressions are very good. Seems to combine all the best features of SPB 2, HTC Home and PointUI Home 2. So far, haven't found any significant negatives.
Spb Mobile Shell 3
Spb Mobile Shell 3 working good
i have been using it this entire weekend. So far i love this app its fast and very effective at what it does. Does not hog much memory at all. The only downfall i have is switching from portrait mode to landscape is a little slow, but other than that i love this app sooooo much. I will use this as my main home screen now probably untill i get a new phone. Then i will probably use it on that phone also lol.
I upgraded from MS2 to MS3. With MS2, after I woke the phone up, I was always returned to the Now screen. Under MS3, I don't get returned to the home screen when the phone wakes up. I get the same screen that was up when I put the phone to sleep.
Settings, Today, Items, Today Timeout is disabled, as before.
Are you getting returned to the home screen or are you returned to where you where previously? I'm trying to figure out if this got hosed in the upgrade.
Thanks!
i like 2.1.5 currently installed
but i made a fully custom "my menu" which involved extensive copying of registry entries between the two spb folders
i dont think i can sacrifice that not knowing if "my menu" could be copied back into the new folders and work
i used many of the built in menus in my custom one and i'm sure some of those numbers are going to change
bah
it looks nice...i'll probably do it

SPB Mobile Shell 3 on Elf?

Hi there,
I´ve found no thread about the SPB MS3 on an Elf, so i want to ask here now:
Is there anybody who has installed SPB Mobile Shell3 on his Elf? Is it runnig smooth?
First i wanted to flash the TOPIX Rom, but this is only WWE Version, so MS3 would be in German and also a great UI (but for sure not so good as TOPIX )...
So pleas give me a Feedback about the behaviour of SPB Mobile Shell 3 on our Elfs...
Yep, I got it running and and looks fantastic. You may get occasional 'out of memory' errors, but it will depend on what you are running, otherwise smooth and fast.
I tried it with one of the Onyx ROMs (don't ask which one, there are far too many versions of the same thing to remember after awhile) and ended up with old-ish Opal port, which I am keeping at the moment.
Thx for the quick answer, i will try MS3 on my Elf....
I felt that the SPB mobile shell 3, will drain the battery a little more.
Try to go to start, settings, and go to today and disable TouchFLO to cut power a little.
Nevertheless, the SPB Suite is very 'finger-friendly'
Spb Working perfect
Hi, I just installed Spb Ms3 on my elfin and it works really very good, I was expecting a lagged movement for every action but even the animation run pretty smooth.
It spends battery a little bit more but it's worth it.
You better install MSkip's extra widgets to have lots of extra options.

[Q] Home screen without Sense or Titanium?

I have searched. I am looking for a WM 6.5 Home/Today screen that does not use Sense or Titanium. Or widgets that I can activate through Settings/Today/Items.
Barring those, I am looking for what everyone else is looking for: the fastest Home screen option, without hang-ups. I love Cookie's Home, but I keep having BT problems, and the Quicklinks keep duplicating. I don't like WAD or SPB MS.
Any ideas?
You've been around awhile, so this is probaly known to you, maybe not. Anyway I did'nt see this in your list and it can be as simple as you'd like to configure it yet useful all the same (not perfect by no means, not a pain to work with either), throttlelauncher sometimes referred to as TL.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436445
Thanks, Dennis! I had sort of glanced at Throttle Launcher a while ago, and for some reason dismissed it, but it might actually be what I am looking for. I have loaded it and am playing around with it; I think it'll work!
i disabled tf3d and sense on mine and have only the Easy Launcher enabled for my today screen. No lag, high speed and no fancy stuff. really simple plug in and works great on my 6.5 tp2. also added QuickMenu which i really like as a an addl launcher/task manager and for the other stuff it does (disables activsync when not being used, converts the x to a real app closer, etc..)
I eventually gave up on Throttle Launcher. I found a great ROM that RAWKS for smoothness and speed; Wildchild's Illuminati ROM, found here:
http://wcxxperia-nce.com/
I also added Zuinige Rijder's TouchLockPro, a locking proggie that uses very little resources, and can lock the proximity, light, and G-sensors on my Touch Pro 2. Super-cool program.
http://touchlockpro.sourceforge.net/TouchLockProFree.html#1.4
Also, Schap's Advanced Task Manager and Tarkim's Keyboard Controller are awesome. Especially the Keyboard Controller; it has revolutionized my phone, with the ability to program any button for multiple purposes, depending on which app you are using.
have you tried wk task. It has a launcher activated by swiping. It also is a great task manager. Most peopledont seem to know about it.
Take a peek at iphonetoday. Very quick and is not a memory hog. I am running Titanium with iphonetoday and getting 124m free. Very snappy

Thanks for the suggestion; I tried it, and love it, so far! Noticeably faster. I'm running WildChild's Illuminati ROM, with iPhoneToday as a Today plugin.
I don't know how you're getting 124mb free; I've got 82mb currently free, I've gotten a max of 89mb free, and I'm stoked with anything over 80!
Thanks again!!
Edit: I'm getting around 111mb free, since I dumped a useless program!
