anyone with any ideas why my wifi isnt working? i know there is wifi here at work and home also but my phone cant find them. please help
My wife had the same problem. Were using PPC6800 through Alltel. I have found nothing on this issue. So we finally sent it in since it was still under warranty. Alltel has had it for over a month, good thing they sent us a loner...
i found some stuff on it. I think it has to do with my upgrade to the MR1 verizon rom though. did you upgrade to windows mobile 6.1 too?

I believe this has been asked all over the place for the last several months or so. It's somewhat of a fluke that it's been allowed. Tmobile has been "upgrading" their networks and rolling changes. In the interim, they've kind of left the doors open for anyone with access to their voice networks to have free access (for the most part) to their data networks.
So, I can only say that you've been lucky to this point to get free internet from them. I've read that for some it's popped back on from time to time, but I who knows.
Maybe you'll get lucky again, maybe you won't.
is anyone else's working or not working? let me know.

I downloaded the wi-fi router and try to use it and it says no connection found. I have tried everything I can think of. I then tried to just go through my usb, it shows it's trying to connect at the bottom of my comp screen but it never fully connects and the icon for it just disappears. I searched but couldn't find any other info or anyone else that has had this happen. Can anyone help me get it working?
What exactly are you trying to do ? Are you sure you setup your data plan correctly inside which ever wifi router app your using ?? Some more info would be nice.
I am using wi-fi router from xda. I had used it a while back but I have went through several HD2's lately and when I installed the cab I went in and made sure it was connecting to my t-mobile connection like before. Maybe I'm forgetting something but I don't think so, I even tried to rename the connection but it still won't connect fully. I have my pc right because I haven't changed anything on it. I also can't connect with usb for some reason. I just don't have any idea. Like I said earlier I've had terrible problems with the HD2 recently. I have gone through 5 now and t-mobile has told me I can either trade for a clique xt or I'm on my own they won't do anything else. This is another refurbed model and I'm having probs with it already. So I wasn't sure if anyone else had problems and maybe this was something that maybe an update would fix or something like that. I don't feel comfortable with flashing, I can't risk bricking this one, it at least makes calls for me.
Wow, seems that you have terrible luck with phones. What version of the program are you using? Make sure it's the latest one.
yes I have had bad problems with this phone and they expect me to either take the clique, which is nowhere near the HD2 in power or size (they charged me $200 for it), or I have to deal with it myself. After the second phone going bad I asked about paying the extra for insurance and I was told by T-mobile "With as much problems as you are having I would recommend it. With the insurance we will be able to exchange your phone if you have problems even after the manufacturers warranty ends". That's an outright lie, after 5 problems you have to exchange for a lesser phone I guess or make due. I called HTC they said it was still under warranty but I have to pay to send it and have it sent back and I will be without a phone for 4-6 weeks and this is my only phone. When I asked T-mobile about the ROM and Radio they said it was the newest version. ROM 2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE, Radio 2.10.50.26, OS 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89). I'm livid over this whole thing.

I am using AmeriCanAndroid AOSPHD2GB232CM7RC1|bkup2sdext234[KERNEL:AmCanAndroid r2.21] and just about everything works perfectly.
The only issue I seem to have is in Android, I cannot use the mobile phone to get internet. The Phone sends and receives call perfectly, but if I want to use Market or the browser, I get the error:
A NETWORK ERROR HAS OCCURED. rETRY OR cANCEL AND RETURN TO PREVIOUS SCREEN.
I think I have tried every combination of settings in the wireless section. Is anyone else having this issue?

the only known temp(!) fix is to restart ur phone , given ur settings are correct it should work for a while .... have you been switching data on/off a few times? thats when it happens to me ....
be sure to report this problem to rom cooker so it gets fixed faster ...
When you say restart, do you mean restart android? I don't think I have ever been connected, unless there was WIFI in the area.
I use this ROM without these problems.
Try to check the apn and the DNS. Have a look at the faq.

Yes I also has the same problem. Please let me know if you find a solution. Wifi works fine on my HD2 after flashing to Anroid 2.2 Bur no data connection through phone connection.

I am have the same problem on my phone also. Have the T-Mobile phone using the ATT system. Have tried several different roms and still cannot get a Data connection. A lot of us need some help please. If anyone can shed light on this, please let us know.

i called t-mobile and told them, i could only connect to the internet via wifi. i pay for data and i cant connect unless its through wifi. DO NOT mention that you flashed your phone, put a different ROM or Android.
After doing this my internet started to work again

I read in an older post that you may have to switch from smartphone data plan to android data plan to connect to the internet, does anyone have any idea about this??

I've searched around on the threads and found some related items for HTC TP2 and HD7, but nothing that gets tethering working for HTC Trophy on Verizon in the US. Has anyone gotten this working? If so, how?
I would take it one farther and say I can't find anything that even shows tethering working on any version of the Trophy.
When I plug my trophy into windows 7 and start the DF Router program I only get 1 device in device manager, and that device is the HTC diagnostics interface according to the HTC drivers, there is no HTC modem to be found. If anyone has this working please let us know.
Has anyone found anything about this?? I keep getting just the HTC Diagnostic Interface (Com5) but no modem. Any ideas?
I was considering getting this phone, and was wondering if WMWifiRouter would work on it like it does on my HTC Touch Pro 2 (after installing ICSInstall.cab). It uses WM 6.1 so I am not sure if it is compatible, BUT if you google that particular file and install it, and it makes a difference to what you are seeing in regards to your computer at least seeing the phone's modem, report back!
I have tethering working on my Trophy using "DF Router". It was working for the past few month even after NODO upgrade, however there is a recent update label "HTC update" that I think may have stopped tethering working probably for me. Not sure if it is happening to anyone else?
What steps did you use to tether? I tried following the directions for tethering to the "t" and I never got it to work. Maybe I already had the HTC update installed.
After I got DFRouter on the phone, I switched it to router mode from zune mode. It restarted the phone. Then I shut the data off and went back into DFRouter and selected HTC Modem. I plugged it into the computer and all I get is the HTC diagnostics. I really need to tether for work so it looks like I'll have to fire up my LG fathom to get internet.

Yep, hopefully there will be a hack so you won't have to pay the outrageous cost of the carriers tethering per month.

yes and i believe it is, however it's something the carriers are going to have to "unlock" w/ their customized ROM so that they can build in whatever triggers they need to turn it on/off as you purchase/cancel the feature on your plan. God forbid they give it to you for free, y'know

exactly. However given what we've already seen in the past, they apparently now have the ability to detect if you're doing it and either retroactively charge you, auto-add tethering to your plan, or threaten termination of service unless you purchase the tethering plan... sucks all ways.
A month ago I bought a NIB evo shift and got it flashed on my metro with everything working. Mostly I use wifi at work n home but I also had the crappy slow metro mobile network working somehow when I needed to use chat app, newspaper or google search. Last night I saw the 2.3 update and I thought if I update I could improve the performance of my device. I wish i didnt update!
With the update my mobile network stopped working. First I thought it was metro somehow disabled it but with a little search on the net I figured out that gingerbread is not compatible with metro mobile network. So super frustrated, I went to sprint and was ready to sign up if they could flash the phone to sprint network. The rep said they dont do it and I have to find someone to do it. In the mean time he told me to flash a phone they need to root the phone temp or perm and it is not possible with 2.3 yet.
Of course I couldnt give up and start calling flashers on craiglist. Even thought I explained that I have a metro flashed 2.3 shift they said "dont worry we can fix the internet issue if you bring the phone"
Now since i know its not possible to downgrade to froyo or root the phone, does anyone think they can fix my mobile network back to normal?
I need an expert advice before I drive 1 hour and spent some money on this issue. I will check back responses in the morning before I leave. What is my options?
1) Wait till some dev figures out rooting and try to get metro net fixed?
2) Find someone to flash back to sprint or any other network?
3) Buy a new evo shift with 2.2 and get it flashed to metro and try to sell this one ?
Any suggestions and information is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance
