YouTube performance - question - Touch HD General

I've noticed when I am playing YouTube video's over WiFI (settings on high quality) that the first, let's say 30-45 seconds, the frame rate occasionally drops, but after that the rest of the video runs smooth.
Anyone any ideas what could be the problem ? Seems to me like some buffering issue.

Is this via the YouTube app or via Opera?
Petrov.

It's via the YouTube proggie...I haven't tested through Opera yet. I didn't even know that would work(?)

Yeah, I don't think it does...
Mine also stutters a bit through the early part of a track using the Opera app, I think it just takes a bit of time to properly buffer the video?

mine used to - until I applied the cache tweaks.
And now it doesn't

Can you let us know which ones please? I've been reluctant to trying anything "performance" related because most of the tweaks I've read about were for the Diamond or the Touch Pro and not optimised for the HD.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Check out the Blackstone wiki sticky at the top of the forum page - you'll see one of the tweaks is an SD card tune up cab which is apparently a must-do. Secondly, you'll see some cache settings in the wiki which you can implement through the windows mobile registry. To do this, you'll need a registry editor (I use Schap's registry editor 0.9b).
Good luck!
Petrov.

I went through the settings in this thread-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448707
make sure you read it all though!
(it's a speed vs stability issue - personally I've had no stability issues with the suggested settings, but...)

it's more to do with playing videos which you have stored on your SD card than with YouTube - but you're likely to need it anyway
Link to the cab is on page 1, but you need to read the whole thread to understand how to get the very best performance when playing a (stored) video.
Very good read, most worthwhile

For example: 7 mins of X-men 3

I only applied the SD tweak which worked great with playing videos on my card. It didn't have an impact on YouTube video's however.
But my YouTube video's look splendid as they are already, I compared it a few times to videoplaying on the iPhone, both normal movies on the card and youtube videos, but the HD wins out massively at the video aspect.

Hey,
Ist there any solution to fix this Problem?
I have it myself (Rom: Dutty v2.0)
Only when the video has loaded completly it plays very smooth....

TCPMP problems on Ameo

Well, my Ameo arrived this morning, and I've been busy installing all my usual software. Loving it so far...
I've installed TCPMP 0.72RC1, but i'm getting very jerky playback with avi files which play ok on my Universal. The sound is ok, but i'm getting about 1 frame per second, and going fullscreen makes it give up completely.
Also, with TCPMP running, but no file loaded, I get flickering streaks across the centre of the screen.
Anyone know what's going on here, and how I can solve it?
Thanks in advance.
Edit - problem now solved - see other thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1178850#post1178850

I've attached the cab file which I found in my Activsync folder, but it seems I didn't save the whole installer.
See if it works, but you'll still need to find the plugins for it if you want to use the aac codec.
Turn off Smooth Zoom and Acceleration under video optons.
I had same thing on X7500, under video, switch to direct framebuffer, thats all...

FPSECE working on X1

I have manadget to have working FPSECE on X1. For everyone who have "cd-rom initialization failed" while runing iso files you have to add this in to the registry:
1. Go to string HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Loader\LoadModuleLow
2. add "LIBZ.DLL"=dword:00000001
Or simple way just import attatched reg file to registry.
How does it run on your unit? I havent tried it out just yet but may do so sometime this week.

About the same as on other devices i have run only GTA iso and it was about 20-25fps while playig with frameskip option set to 2 and screen set to landscape right, LFB driver chosen. It is playable but could be better, waiting for new version which support hardware acceleration. Also there is no problem with configuration of hardware keyboard as you wish, and it's not bad while playing on it.

What does mean? It can't just crash any device, it's just a litle tweak which enable to play iso files in emulator.
I put the program on my xperia x1 and i put the tweak in and the phone froze. I did this twice and has the same result. I seriously doubt that its the tweak its probably just the emulator.
runs like crap!

i had the same error. You have to copy the bios-file ("scph1001.bin" search it @google) in the Bios-folder. and choose it from options->bios. and than copy your iso file to iso-folder. and try to start the iso-file.
i had it but there is another error "Cd-Rom initialization failed"
i hope that helps you to find a solution

I did every fix mentioned in these posts and getting no errors, but also just a blackscreen (with 70fps~ ^^)

Screen shot/capture Functionality?

Do you guys know if there is a screen shot/capture feature on this phone. Im certain there is because I have accidently taken screen shots of web pages when I have been surfing using opera. Havent been able to work out how I did it though.
look up shakeandsave
or - if you're connected to a pc - just use mymobiler
BsB Tweaks also offer this functionality!
Isnt there built in functionality for that? There must be since I somehow managed to do it by accident.
Not that I'm aware of.
I have however stumbled upon a couple of screenshots, mostly used for thumbnails though. Dunno if that's the case?

do you use a custom-rom? maybe the romcooker added this functionality by himself?
BSB Tweaks has this functionality built in and it works flawlessly (even captures video screenshots).

No sir. Just the standard ROM.
Im 99% certain that its possible. 1% doubt as it only tends to capture the opera browser. Still, it proves that the functionality is definitely available.

Tips for speeding up mobile shell 3.5 on the Touch Pro 2?

I have searched the forum, but haven't found an awnser.
I haven't been using mobile shell 3.5 much because of the lag when switching screens. I've read many people with the TP2 use it, so I guess the user experience seems to differ.
Can someone give me tips on how to speed up mobile shell 3.5?
The 3d carousel works perfectly, while that should be more demanding on my phone. I have installed and tried several ROMS. I'm now running a very light one.
Any tips, tweaks or graphics drivers?
Thanks in advance.

I was actually able to run SBP MS on my old wizard (197Mhz proc!) and the carousel was completely lag-free even on that hardware, but I did have a slight lag on screen changes though.
I have only seen one set of "upgraded" video drivers for the TP2, in the thread below. Note- despite the title, they're actually OpenGL drivers, not D3D. I don't know if they'll improve MS 3.5 for you, but it's worth taking a look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546522&highlight=at0mang+driver
Tried it. Thanks. Sadly no improvements on WM shell.

Are you referring to when you use your finger to move left / right / up down? Or do you mean when selecting the Contact button? Or is is slow everywhere?
One thing you should do is change the file system settings to increase performance. Also change the glyph settings & Etc. I think BsB Tweaks will change these.

It's mainly using your finger to scroll. But also a bit the icon loads. I'll try BsB tweaks. Not sure what settings you mean, but I try something.
If anyone can make this more clear, it's apreciated.
Only settings I found was ther glyph setting. That one I did. It actually became a little faster. So if the other tweaks work just as good, I'd like to know where to find them.

Actually, they are in the Advanced Configuration tool, under "Performances". Change the system cache to the advised settings.

The Advanced Config Tool works wonders speeding up many things. Fixed some network lag problems I was having since I had to flash back to the stock at&t rom while traveling. Only thing that has caused any problem for me was a camera setting I didn't need (naturally when I really needed the camera) the one that encodes rotated images as portrait. Other than that it has really helped out. (I now store the .net compact framework cab on my sd card so I don't need a computer to deal with it on the train...) Still looking for better video playback with standard encoded .avi's though (OpenGL drivers worked but I didn't notice an improvement...)

Opera 9.7

I'm not sure if this has been already. covered... but i don't know exactly what to call it... but when i browse using opera.. and use eitherpinch to zoom or the double tap... the page on the screen starts shaking and moving.... like it jumps from one part of the page to another... has there been any fixes or tweaks to at least reduce it? and also do you guys even know what I'm talking about... thanks
hmm... can someone at least tell me the proper name for what i am experiencing so that i can research it myself?
let me answer your question. this problem is caused by text reflow. Period. thats it. that is the answer. you try to zoom on something, you get there, but then the screen jumps all the way to the left for some reason/ yeah. that is reflow at work. and it sucks.
i tried to find a way to disable it for many many days. re-bumping my thread again and again.
there is a way to disable reflow, but it comes at the cost of ugly webpages. usually text are aligned in a way that is not natural.
Search my threads. I am still trying to find a way, but I hoped i answered your question.
let me know if you find something better. =)
You need to download the newest build of Opera 9.7 from this forum. I have build 3600, and it is very smooth. Pinch-to-zoom works properly, text reflow doesnt cause the web page to jump all over the place either.
The update is just an exe file that you overwrite in the Windows directory.
try this. Worked wonders for me
I'm using the 3600 build as well, it's still not perfect in regards to the jumping but it is massively improved.

I have this installed as well. Its is a conbination of registry hacks to improve the smoothness of Opera. But the main tweak is to change the virtual screen size to 1024 pixels wide. Although you would need to change it to 1020 pixels to ensure that double-tap continues to work in portrait view.
The cab previously posted comes from this thread and page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627441&page=6
Here is another link for Opera Smooth tweaks, which I also installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626157
Maybe a combination of the above and build 3600 will change your opinion...
