Treo 800w - email button no longer works - Palm Treo Pro

Sorry, but I don't see a Treo 800w area. anyways, my email button all of a sudden does not open the email client. This happened before where googlemaps icon did not open gmaps. works fine then all of a sudden stops working.
How can I fix this?

Did you check to see if the email button is still mapped to messaging in the "Buttons" control panel in settings?

yes. 1st thing I checked. button is set to "email". Email and messaging are different, as far as I know. Messaging is for text messaging/sms appl.

It must be a different between the 800w and the Pro because on my Pro it's set to "Messaging." Does the button work for a different application if you assign it? If so, it sounds like inbox link is broken. Otherwise the button could be physically not working which is unlikely. You could try to do a file name search to look for the 'email' application that button's trying to call and see if you can verify it works separate from the button

Have you tried a hard reset? Back up your device before you do it though.

Winger13 - Have you tried a soft reset already? If that does not help, then the hard reset seems to be the option to try.

My sms gone mad!

Hello all,
I have my Qtek S100 for about two weeks and now some friends have allerted me that they were receiving twice each sms i sent. I have now compared with the gsm-operator bill that came today and they are charging me twice for each sms.
How can i fix this, sending only one sms and not two??
Regards,
Antonio
Basically, don't close your messaging app before you get confirmation that the SMS is sent. I guess that you use SPB Plus and that you actually close the app instead of minimize it? Try to exclude it from the apps that SPB Plus closes by adding it to the list under the options for the close button.
do you have the habit to turn off the pda (power off) after you send an sms?
The reason being, if the sms is not sent, i.e. you don't see the "message sent" bubble, and you turn off, the next time when you turn on again, it'll resend again.
I think you are using SPB pocketplus aren't you ?
Open pocketplus, select close button. hit feature options. Add exeptions, search in the windows folder for TMAIL.EXE and add that.
Your problem will be solved !
problem solved, i think
thanks guys

remap 'mail' hardware button

Hi,
does anyone know how to change the registry on remapping the 'mail' hardware button? I would like it to open Flexmail instead.
Thanks!
Theresa
I figured it out. there's an option in flexmail to make app default. this option also remaps the mail button automatically to flexmail.
What is flexmail?

REMAP buttons on HTC HOME plugin

Is it possible to remap the buttons on the htc home plugin (meaning the sms and email buttons located below the clock)?
I would like to be able to open PocketCM Contacts when I press on the sms button.
Would this be possible?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
htctoucher
Have you tried to search??
yeah i have tried, just I could not find anything..
I searched "remap htc touch home buttons" and every variant of these words I could think of on XDA and Google.. couldn't find any answers
have any ideas?
or did I miss a thread?
thanks
Martinhdk, I'd say at least answer the question for him. Simple Answer: you can't.

As in it's impossible to get the buttons to map to different things, or it is not really feasible (as in, it would take an enormous amount of work and programming skill)?
I was just wondering about this the other day. I have HTC Touch and I noticed that when I click on the mail button it brings me to my MMS inbox, however I would like it to bring me to my exchange inbox. Is this something which just isn't supported by HTC Touch, or is it something that no one (to your knowledge) has managed to code yet?

Hell, nothing is impossible. Look at what Slither has done with the cube! However, the HOME plugin is hardcoded to link to the things it does. There aren't any registry settings to mess with unfortunately.

Callius:
When you click on the mail button, you should have a menu button on the bottom. Click on it and goto tools then options.
This screen allows you to navigate to the box you wish. There is also a box at the bottom that you can check which says : "display account picker when opening message" this lets you choose from all your accounts.
If you want it to only go to the exchange account, you have to make sure that asterick * is next to that account if not you need to change in the settings and then when you click on mail it will go to that box!
Hope this helps!

Just de-select the box for display account picker.
Then while on the same screen, touch the account you want to have come up when you press the email icon and that should do the trick!
I can't get it to pick up my email account automatically it just keeps constantly going into SMS instead of email when I hit the email button on the HTC Home. Very annoying! Any ideas?

Mail Tab bug - please help to confirm

I notice a bug in the HTC Sense Mail tab, but I like someone to confirm.
ASsuming you have configure your mail a/c, go to the mail tab, and tap on the email message (i.e. the screen that shows the email content, not the left or right softkey).
it should bring out the mail client, but for me it doesn't. Can anybody confirm this?
I have that problem too sometimes. seems to come and go but I dont find it a big deal since the inbox is accessible so easily anyway
btw Im from sg as well
This is a known problem in the 1.48.XXX ROM.
To make it work again, try to go to the Start Menu and Lock your screen manually.
Somehow if you do this, tapping on the mail icon works again.

Mail problem after installing SMS hotfix!

After I installed SMS hotfix from HTC, I cannot open my mails directly from mail tab on Sense UI. I tap on the mail, nothing happens. I have to go to inbox and open them from there!? I removed the hotfix but it's still there. It's really annoying! Does anynone have the same problem?
Did you try a soft reset or switch the phone off and then back on?

Me too .. sometimes
This is a known issue (and has nothing to do with the above-mentioned hotfix) and seriously, you would have found it had you searched.
Go to start and then lock (bottom-left softkey). After that it will work.

I would highly recommend that you disable HTC Messaging.
Please refer to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
and
install NET framework 3.5
The SMS now works very fast and flawlessly
