What color are your G1's call, home, back, & end buttons? - G1 General

When I have received my (black) G1, I figured it looked better than in commercials and photos online, but at first I couldn't understand why. And the it hit me: call, home, back, & end were all white instead of red and green.

Rather than this:
Is this the difference between the US and th UK versions? Can you please state what country you're in and if your buttons are colored or single-color.

I'm in the US and I have a G1 from a Tmo store the day of release and I have the green and red buttons.

I wonder why did they decide to manufacture two different sets of keys. Shouldn't that be more expensive? Though we also have a pound sign, so I guess couple buttons here or there don't change much.

I've seen a few videos of the UK G1 and it seems it also has a glossy finish for the keyboard while the U.S. version has the same finish as the exterior of the phone. Can anyone confirm this is true?

Yep, UK version has glossy finish.

maybe the white keys is for testing and comercial phone, for user almost phone have green and red

Is the difference Black vs. Bronze? The one picture with the red/green buttons is Bronze. I also have Bronze and red/green buttons.

Interesting as UK users didn't even have an option for bronze. Only black or white.

US T-Mobile users only black or bronze.
Mine is US, Bronze and keys are red, white and green.

It is quite normal for this practice... although I don't understand why as the devices are exactly the same if I am not mistaken. Usually you see differences so people can tell that one is using a different band.

I have a UK G1.
My start and end call buttons are white and my keyboard background is piano black along with the menu key and the border that seperates the front and the back of the phone.

Wizard Color ???

I always see picture of Qtek 9100 has black color top cover and silver bottom while K-JAM and O2 mini s are totaly silver, but after I read some review, i found that every time I saw a Wizard in the review, it is totaly silver,
Are there really a verson with a black color top cover?

this look more pro and cool
I too would prefer the unit in a black finish.
On SmartDevices.com the unit is Black. But elsewhere the 9100 seems to be totally silver.
Anyone have any idea why?
Lewis
I think that all of the designs we've seen aren't final. Some guy said that his Qtek 9100 has a silver keyboard while all the web photos show a black keyboard. We'll have to wait to see.
I wrote and asked about the Qtek 9100 brand of the Wizard.
Reply I got from smartdevicesdirect.com:

Looks like won't be able to get it in a black finish :-(
Lewis
Having said that every picture i can find of the Qtek 9100, including the picture on Qteks own site shows it having a black finish.
I wonder if the test devices theyve been sending out are generic ones. I notice none of the pictures of a silver Qtek actually have the word Qtek on them. Whereas the black ones do.

Dear Lewis, do you know if the test device with word "Qtek" on it ?
I don't know no. But I wrote back to ask if he was sure and he said he was 99% certian.

WM6 true black glossy theme?

Hi all, I accidentally spaced out and posted in the universal forum cause I seen Kyphurs links, but Im thinkin a few here might be interested due to the use of the zombienexus dialpads on the wm6 rom, plus it just looks good.
Im trying to find a true black theme that is glossy, either they look more gray and are glossy, or are black and flat, but I have noticed when I go to settings/today, and like switch from the gossy gray to the flat black, there is a split second where the true black is glossy, so if the setting could be found I imagine it can't be too much to fix it.
I don't have much stuff handy to mess with it, I did open a couple .tsk files with winrar on my remote pc, and got the images, but the config is unreadable to me, if someone knows a bit more I'd appreciate it them looking into it, in the meantime I'll try to get it figured out.
I also noticed though when going from an old wm5 theme, like the flat black ones to the actual wm6 themes that there is a lot that isn't added to the registry like in wm5.
Example if you go to
HKLM/software/microsoft/color
with a wm5 theme installed, then switch to a wm6 theme and refresh, you'll see the difference or atleast I did with the black wm6 and solo black themes found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295173
(also where my post is)
If you look at kyphurs page here
http://wm6.kyphur.org/Today Themes.asp
You can see the difference between the true black, and gloss gray.
If I have missed a true black glossy theme somewhere I apologize for the bother, I already had my post deleted once when I tried to add an attachment, so please excuse any misspelled words or babble, as it is getting late.
Here is a pic to show the buttons I am trying to match, I did go into HKLM/software/microsoft/color and change the "BaseHue" to 000, and the pic is as dark as it went..I could possibly be missin something, the changes were instantanious, and playin around I found quite a few neat colors..but no true black.

Set basehue to 160 and that will give you black baby.
Use ThemeGen if you want to build it into a theme, it's free.

LED colors

So this trackball LED is supposed to be able to show 3 different colors, right? So far mine only blinks white. What makes it turn other colors?
if its connected to bluetooth headsets or handsfree it will be blue.
That sounds kinda boring ._.
I heard it has an RGB led under there similar to how the G1 had the RBG next to the speaker.

Yeah, I was really hoping that different apps could set it to different colors like the G1 can. I used to have one color for IMs, one for texts, etc. I forget how I set that up but I don't see any options for it now. But I'm sure I remember seeing apps where it asked you what color you wanted the LED to be. I think AK Notepad has that option...
Im agitated by this feature missing.
Handcent ,Missed reminder do not activate these LEDs.
Very dissapointed.
I was assuming the same thing, I loved that feature on the G1. It helped me know what I got, before having to view it myself. Even the Sidekick LX has more colors than the N1, that is, if it only has 3 o_o the option is completely removed it seems? How disappointing..
On the G1, we used Missed Call to set colors.
give it some time the phone has only been out for 2 days
Has anyone confirmed that this is NOT a multicolor capable LED under the trackball?
My guess is that there aren't any apps, yet, to address this capability on the N1, yet. I, too, would be disappointed to lose my colors and the missed call app.
http://www.google.com/support/android/bin/answer.py?answer=168442&query=trackball&type=
Short version:
Flashing White: Incoming call
Flashing Blue: Incoming call while a bluetooth headset is attached
Pulsing White: new notification

I was thinking this exact same thought, I figured since the mlevin said it was capable of going only 3 colors, I assumed it could do that. I once also thought that the LED on the G1 could only go; Red, Green, and Orange, but that has also changed.
EDIT: So there is also a "status light" embedded at the top of the device, hidden behind the black tracing around the screen? Why has this not been mentioned anywhere o_0

slight error with the ZAGG invisible shield screen protectors

just got mine in -
hadn't thought about it - but the ZAGGs are cut for the asian/european versions of the i9000 with the trackpad thingee at the bottom of the phone
and the Vibrant doesn't have that trackpad
not a biggee but i'd have preferred it correct
just thought i'd pass on so at least others are aware BEFORE they order
not sure what you mean...
both the UK/World version and North America / Canadian version looks the same to me
Galaxy S GT-I9000
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/.../GT-I9000HKDXEU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
Galaxy S Vibrant GT-9000 (missing the "I" for international, replaced by "Vibrant" as in localized versions different software, etc)
http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/...ABMC/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&returnurl=
China/Asia (wow i'm amazed i figured out which buttons to click to get that page )
http://www.samsung.com/hk/consumer/.../GT-I9000HKATGY/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
according to their localized version of their PDF manual GT-I9000_UM_HongKong_Eng_Rev1.0_100611.pdf it is also the same I9000 model as Europe/UK
Regardless, it's good that you mention it, because i'm also planing to put on a ZAGG when my I9000 arrives (it's still on the snail mail system)
so if you have having fitment problem, i'm some what concerned at getting one for my phone.
you're 3rd link http://www.samsung.com/hk/consumer/m...ype=prd_detail
has the trackpad or square button at the bottom (it may not be a trackpad)
and when i went and viewed the video of the samsung demo at whatever show they announced it at, there was a triangular button at the bottom
first it starts off showing the rectangular button the, at approx 0:26 in the video you see one with the triangular button
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kCdF6wrNYk
i took a fast & dirty shot of it

and in fact now that i look at it again, there are cutouts for the FFC camera - but not sure i like the way they executed the cutouts
i'll post another shot in a second
and the top end of the protector
That's correct. The T-Mobile Vibrant doesn't have the central button and replaces it with four capacitive buttons instead of the 2 capacitive + 1 center button as seen on the I9000.
In short, the Zagg shield was designed for the I9000 and not the US Variants (Vibrant/Fascinate) even though they may share the same "body" style.
Give them a few days/weeks and you'll see a proper shield for those versions

[Q] not sure if this is the digitizer or my screens are faulty

hi there im a new user of this lg G2 (D802) have used it for 6 days, i've noticed some weird vertical lines on my screen, but its not like the others describe about the digitizer with the dotted thingy like that..
the digitizer image G2 left N5 right

To get an idea what it looks like, it looks similar to the Steam icon background
but its vertical on my g2.. while the digitizer thing is dotted and rectangle and the dotted thing in the digitizer is a bit spacy while my vertical lines is not that spacy like the digitizer one. its like in this digitizer picture in the rectangle thing,, in the mid of the rectangle thing add a new vertical lines, it looks really like the steam background image but its vertical. sorry its hard to describe it, english is not my 1st language and dont have a good camera to the pict
update::
it really look like this
but vertical and the color is greyish black , a bit visible (indoor) while screen showing white, grey, light blue , light yellow color. visible when i use the phone outdoor + bright sun + tilting the phone
update:::
a pic in attachment.
what i mean by vertical line on my g2 is it looks like the pic in the attachment (the pic is xperia sp screen)
anyone?
Don't all IPS displays have those?
That is perfectly normal. My G2 is exactly like that
Really? this is normal?.. I see these fine translucent black lines everywhere on my g2 and the whole screen looks somewhat like cross-section paper, when im looking at bright colours, especially white.. and especially when I'm in a dark room. Sometimes i think it's a photoshop effect, but then i realize it's just my screen.. i don't understand how everyone says that this screen is sharp and clear, when clearly its not? my old 4s and nexus 4 and 5 of friends didn't have this at all! Actually i have never seen this on any smartphone yet.
Ok, so i returned my G2 and got a new one, which doesn't has this anymore! (at least it's hardly visible and you'd have to stare at it for some time) I'm happy with it (the false model was a 311K, the new one is 402K, if anyone wants to know..)
