Few Issues - Can you help me? - XPERIA X1 General

Hi all,
I have noticed a few problems/issue, just wondering if anyone else has noticed them:
1. Poor streaming from youtube - it becomes very pixelated and I can hardly see or hear a thing.
2. When you have the security set on the phone (PIN) and the phone is locked, when you receive a call you cannot see who is calling you!! Even once I have typed in my PIN and unlocked the phone I still cannot see who is calling me!! Very annoying cos i love the PIN feature.
3. Phone lags heavily once I have sent a text message. I mean about 10 or 11 seconds it freezes and doesn't respond to any input.
4. How do you pan in and out (zoom in and out) using the GUI? I can do it with the volume rocker but in the guide it says to "to pan a page, touch and hold the screen, then move your finger" which doesn't do anything for me but scroll..
5. Activesync keeps appearing in my running programs. I haven't set it up and have not used activesync yet so i'm not sure why it keep appearing in my running programs - I have to stop it roughly 8 or 9 times a day! Not sure how to disable it.
6. Panels - anyone have any idea when we might see some new panels? I've looked at the Sony Ericsson "fun" site and tried a couple of those but just wondering if anyone has any info on when we might see some new ones?? and where??
7. The RAM. This doesn't seem as though its pushing that extra RAM that we were promised. It states that it's running 256mb RAM but i'm sure SE told the world that we would see 400mb RAM? Apparently the extra RAM is locked to the CPU (so i've read) but how can we be sure?? Anyone know more about this?
Can't think of anymore issues I got but they are the main ones. On the whole its a great phone, i love it.. I've been waiting for a very long time for this and its really lived up to expectations.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Setup a fake server connection with any data in ActiveSync. Set it to manual update. After that, delete it again and it should stop appearing. Have done so on other WM phones, but haven't tried it on this one.

Thanks for the replies,
I tried the Activesync thing and i'll let you know how it goes.
Tried the double tap for the "pan" and it still didnt do anythin (tried it whilst using IE, Opera, and viewing images) Does the "pan" mean to zoom in or is it to scroll? I'm confused lol..
Anyone experience any of the other things?

double tap is for zoom and if you move your finger it moves the page

oh ok.. I have tried double clicking on nearly everything that I can zoom in on (IE, Opera, images etc) but it doesn't seem to respond..
Is there a setting or anything that I need to select?

In Opera it should work without any problems. So if you double tap nothing at all happens? did you try it with the stylus?

Mine does this unless im in a 3G/H area then its perfect

Hi,
I got the zoom working with the double tap in opera..
My youtube always seems to be messed up even if im in 3G/H area
Activesync still seems to be playing up - it just appears in my running programs now n again and i have to stop it. ive even synced up to my pc and changed all settings to manual and tried to disable and other connections
Sorted number 2 and 3 by turning the phone off and taking out the battery and putting it back in and turning it on hehe

This is what I did to disable the auto ActiveSync, seems to work fine for me:
1. Open ActiveSync.
2. Hit 'Menu' --> 'Configure Sever'.
3. For Email Address, type "[email protected]" (or whatever you like) and uncheck the box.
4. 'Next', server address, type "[email protected]" (or whatever) the box underneath stays checked.
5. 'Next', User name, PW, and Domain: Type "Blah" for all of them and check the box.
6. 'Next', uncheck all the data it wants to Sync and hit 'Finish'.
7. Back in the ActiveSync home hit 'Menu' and 'Schedule', Make sure 'Sync during' is Manually for both options and uncheck 'Send/Recieve when I click'. Hit 'Ok'.
After that I didn't have any issues with ActiveSync connecting on it's own and Task manager stays unburdened.

for youtube try the standalone player and panel it works better.

Hint: after sending sms hit OK on the keypad or the screen.
It freezes when you hit "dismiss".
"Pan" maybe means enabling smooth scrolling? It works everywhere: contacts, menus, email.....

Aha, the RAM: X1 has 256MB for user,
PLUS 128MB for graphics.
Total: 384MB.

List of bugs / Problem in Hermes devices

I am running the iMate JasJam 1.31 ROM (which came with the Australian Telstra branded device)
The most common problems so far:
-Sound stops working, will only vibrate. This happen if you switch to silent mode, when you get back to normal sound mode, it stays in silence mode until you reboot. this doesn't always happen. can't reproduce it consistently
-BT turns off by itself once in a while, you have to turn BT on in comm manager
-The most annoying: If you have a data session active (not transfering any data) and a BT connection active (like headset, GPS), then you can't receive a call. The person calling you won't even get to voicemail. it just hangs up on them. if you disconnect the data session or turn off BT then you can receive calls again
-Switching username in MSN will often make messenger crash, you have to kill the process and start it again
-Sometimes will hang for no reason: you need to press the reset button
Then you have the GUI weirdness which make you think: what did they drink the day they designed this software?
Like if you receive a SMS, it will show you an extract of it at the bottom of the screen, you'll get off the following choice:
-Reply on the left soft menu
-More on the right soft menu with the option (delete, call sender, Save as Read, dismiss)
What if I just want to read the full content in the Messaging application? you can't.
If you select Mark as Read immediately it doesn't mark the SMS as read in the messaging application and you still get the notification in the top screen. You have to do "Mark as Read" twice.
Something I miss from my symbian phone, if you have a bluetooth headset paired with a unit (or your car kit) when you answer a call using the BT headset button, the call goes to the BT headset, but if you answer using the device itself, it doesn't go on the BT. This is great if you want to take a personal call in a car for example, and don't want your passenger to hear what's going on.
On WM5, you can't control that. it aways goes to BT if the headset/handsfree is set.
When the keyboard is open, if you tap on a text field, the screen keyboard will show up (and text half of the screen). Why show a software keyboard all the time when you have a full qwerty keyboard available !? Sometimes the keyboard doesn't show up, but I'm yet to understand the logic behind it. it's not consistent
And then of course you have some inconsistencies here and there, like the device will stop working as it did 2 minutes prior. You try it again: bank it works.
I wonder if Microsoft or HTC have any QA !
What other issues have you guys noticed? Or could this be that those problems are unique to thie version of the ROM...
Jean-Yves
I agree, there are quite a lot of interface issues, although I think most of these lie with wm5 as opposed to the unit itself.
here are some of my thoughts:
1) the sms bubble relly annoys me too. why can't I tap the bubble to open the message in full?! often the message is too long to fit in the notification. i'm pretty sure this is a wm5 design fault.
2) the software keyboard bugged me senseless until I realised that if you just keep typing on the 'proper' keyboard it disappears. I used to continually spend the time closing it!
3) the alarms in wm5 are pretty lame. if your phone is on silent they won't sound. you only get a warning if you set an alarm whilst the phone is in vibrate mode. the alarm should simply override the sound settings.
4) contacts - I think searching for contacts is poorly handled which makes one handed operation pretty difficult. it takes too many clicks to select a category to filter by and the display when someone is calling you is a farse! you get a tiny notification with tiny writing! I bought photo contacts pro to help with this and whilt it has its flaws I reckon it is worth it.
having said this, i'm loving my tytn. it is way better than my previous smartphone (nokia 6680). the symbian s60 based phones seem to just be half-assed to me.
cheers
Just to comment on the SMS notification.
I am on MDA Vario II from T-Mobile, and when I get an SMS my left button says read! so If I choose that he whole message is displayed. So I guess it is not the OS but the Operator or manufacturer who screwed up on this one.
I add that in some case the tytn wirless modem function dont work.
So you can use the tytn like modem.

Exactly. Some units work as modem and others not (mine not)
Mine works, but since Vista RC2, I couldn't get the OS to install the drivers.
It worked well in Beta2 and RC1

Thanks for that one too. Perhaps we need a thread for non-obvious key combinations or single presses. Perhaps what seems to be statin' the bleedin' obvious to some folks are just things that others have never thought of or tried. Often I discover things through pure chance. Another useful one I used to need a lot was the D-Pad and messaging key combo to go straight to screen alignment.
Mike
What about a new wiki page for all key combinations of the Hermes?

Im on T-Mobile too, and for me it depends on the length of the message ive received. If its a message that doesnt entirely fit in the "preview" popup box at the bottom it will give me a "View" option which will open the full message up in Messaging, otherwise it gives a "Reply" option as i have read the whole message anyway...
More to the list
While waiting to get my new phone (used to have PDA2k, and Jamin that I just sold after using for 3 months due to my disatisfactionof performance, sound quality, etc...) I had some chances to play the JasJam (Arabic ROM). First I noted that the call button is very badley placed at the verry bottom of the front as I felt the phone will fall out of my hand (unlike the HTC where the green botton is separatly on the very left side, as I see it in photos).
Second, if pull the out memory card for any reason and push it bacj in, the phone never recognizes the card again unless you soft rest it.
I hope that this issue will be resloved in the next ROM update by imate

Yes, I too only discover the mail button could make you cycle between accounts. And this is not in the manual...
Another thing bugging me (I will pass on all the bugs and how to lock the device: there're just too many ways)...
There are 3 OK buttons, all doing the exact same thing. And the scroll wheel just just the same thing as the direction keypad.
If you want to read an email this is extremely annoying as you can't easily read it without tapping the screen to jump to the next screen page ; as up/down or the wheel will jump from embedded number to number.
It would be great if you could differentiate the wheel from the up/down, and if the OK buttons could be assigned another function. Right now there are a few buttons you can't assign.
Ok, this should be a rule to post here: list/describe one bug ...
With activesync program running, try changing the name of the PDA. Will make the device unresponsive for a few minutes.
My experience thus far..
Been using my T-mobile Vario 2 (ROM 1.21.110.3) for a couple of weeks now and have had a couple of problems:
1) The buttons don't work all the time. I've noted this when trying to pick up a call or dismiss a notification of something. I had thought I might have left the device locked but this isn't the case. It's a bit annoying that this only happens sometimes though.
2) About 50% of the time when I call comeone they can't hear me although I can hear them fine.
That's all I've discovered so far, but it's handy to note the comments about the pressing of the envelope button.
Given the problems I've experienced so far are generally located in the lower part of the phone, I'm beginning to suspect the phone has some sort of hardware fault so I've called the shop up and am going to swap it for a new one. Has anyone else experienced these issues?

You are absolutely right there. Noticed it today. long message you get a view and if it fits the popup then you get a reply. This is actually quite clever.

My first Pocket PC, and its a touch Dual :-D Lotsa questions

Some questions for the Gurus
1.) Is it possible to add a "New Message" shortcut on the desktop of the touch dual? It has the built in home screen and I can add shortcuts there, but when I do, it just gives a list of aps to add. or maybe instead of the "notification" shortcut on the lower left corner of the home screen, I can change that to "new message"
2.) When syncing with the PC using active sync. do you always have to configure it to update either way? (eg: if conflict is found, update Phone or update PC)
- What if I change something on the PC, and I also updated something on the phone? It would be such a hassle to keep on changing the settings and trying to remember where I updated last.
3.) When I am connected to the PC via USB, it syncs right? But if I leave it connected cause I am still installing aps or doing something else, or charging the unit, it keeps on repeating the sync process over and over again. This gets troublesome when I am installing an ap, and when I continue installing on the phone, it lags terribly because its still synchronizing.
4.) My date format is currently Day/Month/Year, somehow I cant find how to change it Month/Day/Year
5.) Is their an indicator thats its fully charge? like a pop up message (aside from going through power settings)
6.) Is it possible to make categories on notes or folders or is the only way to organized them is via actual file folders only?
7.) I have MP3s on internal and external mem. When I choose an alarm, I cannot see the Mp3s that are inside the phone, I can only see the ones on the external mem.
8.) Have you guys tried 8gig High Speed Memory Sticks on your phone? Planning to get one. Speed is ok? or Will 4gig do? I will store some music, but only a few, since I have an Ipod, a few pics, most of the mem will be for applications.
9.) On the Home screen of the Touch Dual, there is a weather ap, this also updates automatically using 3g/gprs/edge, I cant find the settings to cut if off or set it to manual update cause its expensive to have it always update every time you click on it :-(
10.) How much mem should I leave internally for it not to cause problems. Ive been installing tons of aps already hehehe. But I still have a little less than half available.
11.) Will any USB cable work with this device? It seems to be a pretty standard looking USB cable. I already a PSP cable and my portable hard drive cable, they should all be compatible right? it would be neat if I could just share the Cable.
12.) When I slide out the keypad, the default text type is always XT9, is there a ways to make it just standard text input "ABC"? I usually text with a mix of English and our local dialect.
13.) On program settings, there is a button mapping ap. it says this: Button 1- Camera, Button 2 - Voice Commander, Button 3 - Record. On the touch dual there are only a few buttons, which one is button 2 and button 3? I tried all buttons, nothing seems to launch voice commander and record lolz smiley Only the Camer obviously works. I know this should be in the manual, havent had time to read it pa hehehe.
Whew, hope you dont mind the questions :-D Sorry if they have already been asked before.

The message is contextual and will change accordingly - some providers will allow you to choose what is shown on start>settings>buttons
2.) When syncing with the PC using active sync. do you always have to configure it to update either way? (eg: if conflict is found, update Phone or update PC)

No you dont have to remember - it will sort itself out and only ask if there is a conflict where you might have changed both devices
3.) When I am connected to the PC via USB, it syncs right? But if I leave it connected cause I am still installing aps or doing something else, or charging the unit, it keeps on repeating the sync process over and over again. In activesync you can choose the option of automaitc sync or when you choose to
4.) My date format is currently Day/Month/Year, somehow I cant find how to change it Month/Day/Year
5.) Is their an indicator thats its fully charge? like a pop up message (aside from going through power settings)
The LED at the top of the device constantly glows yellow when charging and changes to green when fully charged

4 gig will give you plenty of space
9.) On the Home screen of the Touch Dual, there is a weather ap, this also updates automatically using 3g/gprs/edge, I cant find the settings to cut if off or set it to manual update cause its expensive to have it always update every time you click on it :-(
In the weather app go to select city - then menu - the choices you want are there
10.) How much mem should I leave internally for it not to cause problems. Ive been installing tons of aps already hehehe. But I still have a little less than half available.
As long as you dont run loads of apps at the same time it should be fine. If its slowing down then change the x button in settings to close apps instead of minimizing them
11.) Will any USB cable work with this device? It seems to be a pretty standard looking USB cable. I already a PSP cable and my portable hard drive cable, they should all be compatible right? it would be neat if I could just share the Cable.
Yep
12.) When I slide out the keypad, the default text type is always XT9, is there a ways to make it just standard text input "ABC"? I usually text with a mix of English and our local dialect.
Search for posts - you need to do some more advanced work

I'm sure someone will pick up the points I havent
Sweet, I'm in the same boat as the topic started.
So let me add a question:
The right LED above the screen keeps blinking every ~4 seconds. Since I'm colourblind it's kind of hard for me to tell what colour it is, but its either yellow or green.
What does it mean and how do I turn it off (I know I can change some stuff in Sounds and Notifications, would that be the solution)?
Thanks and cheers cdyat for answering alot of those questions.
**It flashes when you have signal and are connected to the network. The colour changes with the status. Its green normally but changes to yellow when you have a missed call / message / reminder etc. There is also a blue led for bluetooth connections next to it. I have never turned it off but I have read a few posts that talk about editing the registry to do this. There is no simple way with normal settings** You can always PM me if its a silly question and you dont want to post for all to see.
Thanks, I posted my question on howardforums.com too and they told me the same thing. I don't really want to mess with the registry yet, since I got my phone recently. Besides, I don't mind it at all, just wanted to know why it did that.
I dont mess too much with mine. To be honest its pretty damn good as it is!!
Exactly.
As long as you don't just install everything anywhere on the internal memory, it should stay that way.
Which brings me to another question about the microSD card slot. I posted this on howardforums too, but might aswell ask here too:
Can anyone help me by telling me exactly how I can get a microSD card out of the device?
The manual states I should press on the microSD card itself to get it to pop out, but I can't even reach the microSD card with my fingers (I'm not fat ). I had to use a tool from my garage to help me get it out and I really doubt HTC had this in mind, so there should be an easier way!
Besides, when i tried pressing the card with the tool, it didn't even budge. So I just pulled it out instead of pressing it inwards to make it pop out...
I get out the microSD with the stylus, using the black broad extreme...
Yea thats a good tip, I found it out after giving it a few other shots.
Thing is, I had to press pretty hard and before, I was afraid of breaking something, so I held back.
But yea, the stylus does come in handy after all.

The fun is great. You have to realized that whatever is missing will be develop in the next couple of months. Now grading android system -> The best phone I've ever had by far, and I have been to lots and lots of Smarts phones....
Addressing some of the cons
Video Player: Available on market, but very, very limited (i miss tcpmp)
Setting Wallpaper: While ur on the Home screen, press the Menu button, wallpaper will be a selectable option
Editing Bookmarks: Open your browser, then press the Menu button, select Bookmarks, on the bookmarks screen, press and hold on the bookmark u want to edit until a screen pops up. Edit bookmark is there.
Clock on Home screen: to move it, just press and hold on the clock until it 'detaches' from the home screen.
to delete it, press and hold until it detaches from the screen then move it to your tab bar which you'll notice changed from an arrow to a trash bin.
to add one, while on the home screen, press the Menu button, select Add, Widget, Clock. then just place it wherever u want.
Something i had an issue with that i posted elsewhere was an rss reader. Google has one on its homepage, ur looking for Reader. Just sign-in and setup your links. Hopefully this'll help some people.
I've got the same pro's and con's as everyone else. I really like this phone much more then my TYTN II. I might have had a bunk TYTN though.
I'm missing the software keyboard, sim contact manager, and file explorer from WM phones though.
Otherwise I'm happy that I drove a long way to get this phone.
Hello fellow G1 users.
Ever since the news about OS came a while back I have been sold on android (well it’s potential).
There is obviously a software shortage… however, the community and google will fill the gaps with time, I think.
One big issue I have the battery capacity.
I would like to hear from you guys/girls:
What have you done to make the battery last longer?
Here are some of the things I have done (currently testing this configuration)
1. Stopped sync on all items….. I only kept calendar (sharing it with my wife)
2. Stopped using the gmail app. Instead I setup all of my email accounts via second email app with all POP (not IMAP <- drains battery like crazy) where I can control frequency with which the app checks mail (10-15 min apart for me).
3. turned off location service from GPS and network towers because I think one these are invoked, they do not turn off
4. Last: the usual…. Screen time out to shortest timeout and screen brightness to lowest comfortable level for me.

Pros: pretty good v1 Android OS, nice touch screen, fast (almost no lag), decent 3G speed, pretty good marketplace, room for growth
Cons: no virtual keyboard, need full BT profiles, no desktop sync, no task manager, no file manager, no 3.5mm headphone jack, no video recording
now that i seen everyone elses views time for me
ok i love this phone but i still carry around m dash as a picture/video recorder

Thanks for the tip on bookmarks! Afraid to delete clock, what is the replacement like? Any better?
I've heard everyone complaining about the battery life and while its not the greatest I don't think its as horrible as everyone makes it out to be. Batt lasted me 12 hours yesterday with heavy internet use!

Its a wee bit buggy innit!? Shall we start a list?

Hello fellow guinea pigs !
I've been waiting ages for thgis phone and i'm preparred to work through the issues rather than send it back. I've noticed it has a few more bugs than my garden shed. Maybe we can list them and togerther suss out if we can overcome them.
1. Won't update/seach or tweet via the twitter app, autocollect email or load facebook pages via 3G. Works fine via wifi though. Updates weather and internet browing is fine on both though.
UPDATE works fine with a T-Mobile sim. Must be a Vodafone issue.
2. Can only update lockscreen background from YOURE pictures, not the HTC background folder. Despite the default being from the HTC File.
there was another, forgot, i'll come back. i've got a few bugs too!
What version of android are you running?
Mine has none of thos bugs all the problem you said are working fine for me.
I don't know if this is correct but my software version is: 1.0.0.A6288 (if that makes sense)
1. No IMAP folder prefix option in mail - well none that I can find!
2. All the custom bookmarks I save are saved with a zoomed in screenshot so they all look stupid on the thumbnail view.
How's everyone's "people" facebook integration?
It has the potential to be so amazing and yet at the moment it seems to be a bit on and off. Just had a scare after sync 100+ contacts doing the "link facebook profile" as all the pictures disappeared.
When you click update I not really sure what it does but it takes forever!
Hopefully fixed by software updates :S?

I know it has a few problems right now, but give the phone a chance, HTC are working on a lot of the initial bugs and I'm sure they'll provide a software update to resolve these issues.
biggest prob ive found is when on a call the screen goes black
now wot button do you press to wake the phone up ? oh the ------- yep you got it no more phone call so how do you wake up the screen while on a call ?
Yeah the disappearing Facebook pictures is really annoying, they disappear in batches though... Each picture persists for about 24 hours before disappearing... Very weird behaviour. You can then re-add them by editing the contact and reapplying their picture "from facebook".
I will be REALLY peeved if they don't fix this in an update... (and soon!!) -- can we just try and determine exactly how many people are experiencing this issue (i.e. is it everyone?) -- and is it just me or does the People list scroll really poorly...? Very jerky, not at all smooth like some of the other lists.
And to add to your bugs -- I have found the "manage applications" to take AGES to load (much of the time) i.e. longest is in excess of 30 seconds, quickest is 3-4 seconds, not quite sure why, as my brother has a Magic and it loads in ~2 secs every time...

Seen one or two glitches, but nothing I can pin down yet!
I LOVE this phone.
One annoyance: When looking through facebook photos via "Albums" you can do anything other than share a link via email, having a save as or set as button would be awesome!
Pressing and holding the home button to bring up the list of running programs removes the home button association to the senseUI. When you next press the home button it asks whether you want touchflo3d or standard android home.

This doesn't happen on mine. None of the methods anyone has mentioned like this seem to work on my hero. (orange version)

I've had my Hero for 36 hours now, and this is one of the more noticable bugs I've come across so far - highly irritating, as I'm used to using the Home button long-press a lot...

same here.
Found another problem with the HTC mail app...
1. Regardless of what username I put in the smtp setup screen, after it validates the settings it changes the username to my pop username and password so I can't send email - baring in mind I get no sort of error messages very poor!
My word does the mail app need some more time in the oven, considering its just based of the standard Google e-mail app which has none of these setup problems. All they seem to have done is make - let's face it - an already poor app worse!

yer me neither. I didn't know you could hold down home to view that though. Is a good addition! and can always keep Taskiller running so easy to properly quit apps.
hopefully the first firmware update will solve all these issues .
Anyone have the issue where on the homescreen, with the HTC music and calender widget, whenever i paused on a particular screen with them on, the white text would be there for about 2 seconds, then disappear...?
Very odd. Although a soft reset seemed to solve it.
O one more thing, I LOVE the capacitive screen, the keyboard has really been worked on. (would be nice to have a proper " ? ") button though always find myself holding down k to get that which slows down typing time.
Weirdly I can't seem to set the screen brightness! Its greyed out in the display options. When I hook it up to adb on my PC I see lots of "ERROR/HardwareService(60): GetPreferredValue (settings.display.brightness, 102) failed!" messages.
EDIT: I have an unlocked white one BTW

Have you ticked the box directly above it called 'Disable auto backlight'?
once this is ticked, you should be able to manually set the brightness.
And i can't get the home bug to occur either. brown sim free running 1.76.405.6

List of bugs found in Froyo, please add them here

Please put all the bugs you have found in Froyo in this thread and eventually this can be forwarded to HTC.
Edit: the push functionality seems to be working to some capacity.
- Crash/force close -
Internet Browser
*Issue: When selecting accept all plugins in the settings for the stock browser it will force close on execution
**Work around/solution: Select to clear all data in the application settings for the browser
- Loss of functionality -
Email App/Widget
*Issue: Push email not working as before. The email will sometimes fail to sync (when other mail clients can sync) and push communications is sometimes only one way (phone to webmail)
- Non-verified bugs/issues -
Google Earth
*Issue: Google Earth App not available on market
I am expiriencing a very bad performance of SenseUI after upgrading to froyo. Everything is slower than it was before?
very bad performance if I use live wallpapers.
thats all for now^^
The browser has a few issues - when a page is still loading, there is a refresh button instead of a stop button, and copy and paste is very buggy.

I think it would be best if users post what ROM they're using...
But back on topic: Sometimes my sense restarts with no error report/popup whatsoever...
All my alarms were resetted... Could be just my phone, I dunno, but quite annoying if I hadn't noticed
All my alarms where reset aswell....but that's not a big problem to me. What is, is that also my entire agenda/calendar was wiped. :/
And it does seem froyo is loading stuff (like picture preview tiles, app lists, setting menus, the folder list in 'Pictures' app, etc.) a lot slower then eclair. And I'm not even running an animated wallpaper.
Let's go!
- Although Froyo is way faster for everthing, sometimes (i mean often!) my phone starts to slow down and i've unfortunately to reboot my phone..
- The music app has become resistant to task killers (at least on my phone). Probably like a bacteria to antibiotics??
Some surprises:
- Fonts are more beatiful to read, especially the text under icons (that striked me when I just updated)
-My greys are not pinkish anymore!!!
- Fonts on the SMS app are a bit bigger and it's really better (but the textfield is not as beautiful as before), and we have photos like on handcent on the conversations list.
I will not list everthing because there is a topic on the desire forums but i hadn't read that.
As I have mentioned in my thread everything works fine for me howeverwhen called or trying to call the other side does not hear my voice

same here its slower then before...also app drawer is laggy.
Try removing the live backgrounds, it works like a charm without it.
Go around the loss of push email by installing a non HTC phone's mail.apk.
I have the 2.1 Milestone and it works beautifully.

Im running the de-branded UK Vodafone Froyo ROM and honestly have to say there are no issues with speed at all. Even with live wallpapers running, all homescreens remain fast and smooth, as does the app drawer.
I did do a fresh install however with a full wipe, I then used TitaniumBackup to restore alarms, SMS messages, etc when done
Did not wipe or factory reset, just installed froyo. Everything works fine. No speed issues, my weather started working correct again, push mail works fine. And after living with sms bug for one whole day, i'm very happy to say it's gone... So suprisingly nothing to complain about yet.
New day, new bugs.
- Loss of functionality -
Wifi Connection
*Issue: An active wifi connection will stop working properly if the phone has been in sleep mode for some time. The wifi connection symbol will still be displayed (and always at the same level of reception (in my case full)) and the email clients will not warn of lack of connection and instead try to sync for ever.
**Work around/solution: Change wifi policy settings in settings - wifi - menu button - advanced from 15 minutes to something else. This might work to some extent, otherwise solution is to disable and re-enable wifi connection.
Hi, one annoying detail after updating: my 'Gmail Unread Count' widget has suddenly started to launch the Gmail app opening the most recent message, instead of opening the inbox.
When I launch Gmail directly from the apps list, it opens the inbox as it should. 'Course this issue is not related to Froyo, but I imagine I'm not the only one dependent on the 'Unread Count' widget. Anyone experiencing the same?
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I'm experiencing extreme performance degradation after the upgrade to Froyo!
I'm running an unbranded HTC Legend, stock rom, upgraded via Systems Software Updates OTA, I'm running ADW and Handscent. Other that that, it's stock. (3.15.405.3)
People are complaining that they can't hear me properly! This is the biggest concern I have so far!
Switching between Home Screens is slower, it hangs and it's less responsive. (Swipe, hangs for a second, then moves)
Using the back button to exit apps is very VERY slow. (Handscent is almost unusable)
Opening apps is slower. When pressing app, it zoom towards the screen faster, but hangs afterwards.
Scrolling in almost every app/widget is slow and lags!!!!!!
Entering the lock screen pattern is very slow
Scrolling the app drawer is very slow
It appears it's mostly a scrolling issue?
Another thing is that lock screen does not always work. The screen goes off and when I enable it again, I get right to the first home screen. Ie. no lock pattern. (FOUND IT : It now says "lock screen after 5 minutes"....so I set it to immediately.)
Also using "Gmail Unread Count" widget goes straight to first message, not the inbox. Does not matter if the message is already read.

Try going into the WiFi settings, then press the menu button and choose advanced. You will find WiFi sleep options in here. Choose the second or third option as you see fit. I've not tested it but I think it may solve your problem.

I experienced the slowness briefly, but after rebooting a couple of times it seems fine - if anything actually much faster! Not sure what exactly is causing the problem though...
