X1 vs HTC Touch Pro - XPERIA X1 General

I wanted to write this up as i am sure some people dont know which one to get yet.
So, first i wanted to get a HTC Touch Pro but after getting into all the X1 stuff its a clear winner for me. Heres why
PRO X1
- 3 inch screen with same resolution as HTC Touch HD
- Much better camera
- 30fps video recording (international version, US version has slower 24fps recording)
- better video playback
- standard headphone jack
- outstanding build quality
- better looking (matter of taste of course)
- no gps lag (this is not confirmed yet, just read it somewhere)
- X1 has a 1500mAh battery (TP only 1340mAh), but this might not mean much with the larger screen
- X1a/i are tri-band UMTS, TP is only dual-band
CON X1
- the panel interface sucks, Touch Flo 3D is much nicer (in my opionion)
Solution: Touch Flo 3D from the Touch HD has been modified to run on the X1 and it does a near perfect job (issues will be fixed soon i am sure)! Thats even better than Touch Flo 3d on the HTC TP because of the higher res
- no G-Sensor
Solution: none acutally cause its not build in. So you cant use some of the nice g-sensor based apps and games, but thats not a major drawback to me.
- No Youtube application like the HTC TP has and playing flash videos in opera isnt very fluent
Solution: Port the HTC Touch HDs Youtube App...i think thats a matter of days only
- the keyboard of the TP is better, still the X1 keyboard is pretty good, no major drawback
- no TV Out, well yeah, that would really be nice to have but no deal breaker either
Basically the X1 can do everything the HTC TP can (except G-Senor Apps and TV-Out) and then some. Since they are priced quite equally, the X1 is the clear winner to me.
If you need the G-Sensor and TV-Out, you should get the HTC TP.
This isnt meant to be a flame thread or whatever, i absolutly LOVE the HTC TP too, just wanted to compare it for other people that might not have gotten into all the details yet.
I also just realized there already is a TP vs X1 thread in here, well nerver mind

Having used both, thats the list I came up with. I do have an inexplicable love of teeter which nearly swung it but reason won out in the end and the Xperia is just that little bit better. I like the keypad on the Xperia because I have big fingers which would sometimes activate the wrong key on the touch pro whereas on the Xperia there is a little space around each key.
Panels is not great and has a few glitches but the SPB panel makes up for it in my mind (just setting it up now). I'll give the HTC Touchflow2/3D a try later. I have a feeling that someone will work out either a way of enhancing it, to iron out the glitches or a way of replacing it.

Not sure about the cameras, they're both 3.2MP with LED flash. I think the quality is going to vary most depending on the lighting conditions.
Some other thoughts:
- X1 has a 1500mAh battery (TP only 1340mAh), but this might not mean much with the larger screen
- X1i has a faster Qualcomm 7200A cpu
- X1a/i are tri-band UMTS, TP is only dual-band
The other thing is that I really do love the 5-row keyboard on my TP right now, but the more I think about it the more I feel the X1's 4-row is an acceptable sacrifice, especially as I'm not actually going to spend too much time typing on either device.

thanks, added your stuff...
Does the X1i really have a faster CPU than the X1a ? i thought CPU specs where the same for the X1 and the TP
glad, to live in europe

Remember TP has a activ stylus, not important but a nice feature. Especially when you release the stylus during a call it opens the note app. This is nice feature during work. (My opinion).
There is no difference in CPU speed.

I apologize, it's not the CPU speed that is different, just some of the code restriction (US patent issues) that is responsible for slower video recording. Specifically:
X1i has the Qualcomm 7200A for 30fps recording
X1a has the Qualcomm 7201A for 24fps recording
TP has the Qualcomm 7201A (but different recording limitations altogether)

3 Things about the Xperia you didn't know...

Hi,
So, according to the Pocket Now site (http://www.pocketnow.com/) and i quote;
As we start to see glimpses of the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, new details are emerging about its capabilities in comparison to other WinMo devices. Here are three things about the device that you probably didn't know:
1. It has four LED indicators (two on each side) on the perimeter of the device to indicate system status, as seen below from the left side. The lights can blink in different colors like red, blue, and green.
2. It includes Handango's InHand software, which may bring an iPhone app-store like experience to the device.
3. It can take 640x480 VGA video - most devices max out at 352x288.
--------------------------
I knew about the LED indicators as i had seen them in action in a video (and they are kinda cool considering how lame they sound at first), and neither was i interested about Handango's InHand software being on the device... But the main point is the video. 640 x 480 is pretty darn awesome!
Oh well... i don't know if this is true, but i just read somewhere: "X1a has the MSM7201a which restricts the higher quality video. The X1i uses the MSM7200 which doesn't have the restrictions. "
So, if the 640x480 resolution recording is true, it'll be on the X1i...
Some stuff from the whitepaper
There will be a US and European version of the phone. The US version has 850MHz UMTS while the Euro has the 900MHz band instead. The US version is also crippled in some features (mainly relating to video recording/playback - only records QVGA video at 24fps when Euro does it VGA at 30fps. Also doesn't decode H264) due to some issues with patents in the US.

A really good video review. Slow in switching from portrait to landscape... but overall really great. (was added on the 15th, so highly unlikely that it has the increased RAM)

Plus it also mentions that the video recording is VGA

It is a bit old - especially since we now know that Opera is included in Xperia, wheras that whitepaper says it is not...

Here is another review where the panels switch way faster, they say it's a beta-version very similar to the retail one. Have they increased the RAM to make it faster? There are rumours that the RAM will be more than 256 MB.

Yes, they've increased it, it's now 340 or 384 mb.
Don't know which version is in the review, though, but the switching is very very fast.

3. w/ the current spec, it may take VGA video, but I really doubt about how many fps it can record.

Most (or at least quite a few, especially with good cameras) non win-mo devices have more than 16 bit colour too!
How to confirm X1i
I am in the USa and don't want that crappy limitation of video recording and the lack of x264 support. How can I confirm a X1i vs. X1a if I order from one of the well known sites listed on this forum?
wtf no H264 decoding? does that mean it can still be accomplished by using third party apps?

No its a hardware limitation. The qualcomm chipset that supports VGA H264 recording infringes on broadcomm patents. Therefore the US version of the chipset has this feature removed.

Because above 16bit is kinda pointless and only really looks good on the spec sheet. It comes with a performance penalty that is not worth it. I'd rather a snappier device.
Read this:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2005/09/07/462187.aspx
Video capture is supposed to be 640x480 30fps.
It is only the display colours that are limited. Play back on tv/pc should be fine.
I'm not sure why people think WM devices SHOULD have performance issues with this. Note the N95 has 24bit display and records great video at 30fps 640x480.
24bit colour makes a huge difference with some websites. WM 16bit devices for example look awful with the my-symbian banner. On the N95 it is like it should be. Pictures and video are also obviously much more natural. It is daft WM stick to 16bit displays with tiny physical cameras that can't take quality pictures regardless of the pixel count .. the qvga video of all WM devices except the X1 is also a joke .. I can't believe the pro and HD are still qvga.
There is no excuse for the X1 not to perform well with this. I'll be really upset if it doesn't.

The camera does take 16 bit photos. The display only shows 16 bit. The US version however cannot record in VGA for the reason I mentioned above.
And its not WM that decides to put bad cameras on phones. Blame our device manufacturers for that.

384 MB RAM confirmed
SE has confirmed that the retail version of X1 will have 384 MB of RAM.

Unfortunately it will NOT have an accelerometer though.
Support for Flash Lite 3.0 will not be included initially, but since it will have Opera Mobile 9.5 that will be no problem, since Opera 9.5 includes the Flash 3.0 player - http://www.interpreting-tech.com/bemobile/?p=107

Be not so sure about that. Currently it's not sure if the Opera version for the Xperia X1 will include flash support though it's possible of course.

When it comes to Xperia Vs. Omnia, it's Xperia that is a winner in my books. The real challenge is: Xperia Vs. Touch Pro and Omnia Vs. Touch HD.
I.e. If you want a mobile with a hard keyboard, go for Xperia or Touch Pro... else Omnia or Touch HD.

even tytn II is better then omnia imho.omnia is polished phone by samsung as usual.i wont give you too much reason for xperia.metal case and hardware keyboard are enough i think.cheers.
Well, i tried both adn i chose the xperia. Why? Because the Omnia feels more like a smartphone than a pocket pc. That's my honest opinion.
Hello,
i had an omnia for 2 months sold it for an xperia.
hardware keyboard is better than software (was emailling a lot and thesof keyboard was not that good)
xperia better screen resolution and better screen sensitivity
xperia got a true audio jack
divx playback was better on omnia but imaga quality not that good because of the screen resolution.
camera is better on my opinion on xperia even with 2mp less.
no dpad on omnia so not esay for gaming.
battery life is better on xperia
omnia is lighter but feel more plastic.
omnia screen under the sun was awfull unreadable.
i am very pleased with my x1. even if the screen is smaller and x& is heavier.
I owned the Omnia for also about 2 mths before switching to X1, and I share the same sentiments as Tylwith!
If you type a lot, the keyboard on X1 is better than Omnia's touchscreen keyboard.
i used the T*omnia and the xperia and each are better at certain things
t*omnia
-better size and waight
-bigger finger friendly 3.3" lcd wvga
-accelerometer
-noticably faster 806mhz cpu
-tv tuner
xperia
-more buttons makes the device more practicle
-keyboard
-extra memory
-slightly better camera
-xda support
overall i like the xperia better
performancewise omnia and xperia use different processor seems that the xperia is more powerfull from the benchmark i have seen
the t-omnia is a omnia with a better screen resoltion same as xperia but
you can find it only in loea and japan if i remember well
another thing omnia doesn't have 3d card
What I've heard, Omnia is a real crap,
very unreliable device...
one gd thing abt omnia is the divx and xvid video support so no need to install coreplayer...
but for me theres no way i can type a message faster on an on-screen keyboard than on a hardware keyboard.
plus the X1's got a higher screen resolution and just looks cooler.
you have to install coreplayer or tcpmp because the playbacl with default software is awfull....
Used to owned one for 2 months

ive had my omnia for 3 months now its never crashed yet and i have about 50 apps installed and constantly 7 or 8 at a time

Does Xperia have the same performance/driver issues as Touch Pro/Diamond/HD?

Just wondering. I have a Touch Pro, and have been pretty dissapointed by it's overall graphics performance. I'm not talking about 3d graphics either, I'm talking about watching videos, and other apps that have animated 2d graphics like games, web browsing, etc.
The 2d rendering of the TP is pretty pathetic given the cost and specs of the device. Especially in landscape mode... I don't know why, but performance drops extremely when rotating the display into Landscape. On apps that allow me to measure framerate, I see something like a 30% decrease in frames drawn in landscape.
Now, I haven't seen any such complaints on the X1, and I see them going on ebay for ~$600, and have seen used Touch Pro's get bid up to roughly $400, so I figure, if I can pay $200 for a nicer device with the kind of graphics performance that this generation of devices should be capable of, this might be something worth considering.
So what's the word... does the Xperia suffer from the same bad performance?
i feel it suffers from the same problem as touch pro, like the rest of the msm7xxx devices
the 3d acceleration is there, and video playback is quite smooth when converted using the program from the sticky
opera zooming and scrolling is somewhat faster than touch pro, and gps is definitely way better, but when it comes to gaming there is still a bit of lag comparing to some older models sadly (bejeweled 2 and quartz 2, you feel the jerkiness is there, but not enough to be lagging, emulation is just pathetic)
the panel selection is slow as heck, but i dont use it anyways, so i remapped the button to screen rotation
i dont see much slowdown when touch pro is in landscape mode from before, and right now not from x1 either, so cant help you there
coming from touch pro, im definitely happier with x1, but not quite as happy as with my old and busted dell axim x51...
Dell Axim X51v is definitely a very nice device. Friend of mine ordered one after I recommended it to him, and man it is nice. There are still NEW ones for sale on Ebay!! I have considered more than once, going back to a 'dumb phone', and getting one of those for my WinMo addiction, but that just seems so backwards when I think about it.
As far as the Touch Pro and the landscape issues... for anyone who 'doesn't see it', try running any app that lets you display frame rate, or any app that will benchmark 2d graphics drawing in both portrait and landscape.
Perfect example, use SK Tools benchmark, run the bitmap drawing portion, in portrait first, then in landscape. I have found that in landscape the phone scores consistently about 30% lower (less bitmaps drawn), and also, while it draws smoothly in portrait, in landscape you can see visible diagonal tearing (like Vsync has stopped working) as it draws the bitmaps.
I see this in browsing (tearing in opera mobile, much jerkier scrolling), in videos (visible tearing on anything resembling a moving scene), gaming (tearing and jerky frame rate), whereas in portrait these apps are more or less butter smooth.
I am frankly shocked that so many people claim that 'mine doesn't have this issue' when it's been on several Touch Pro's I have seen with my own eyes running various roms, and once I tell people where to look, they all come back and post how they see it.
If the Xperia doesn't have this issue, I will buy one in heartbeat while I can still get a decent price for the Pro!
I don't have issues with video playback.

Um... dude... yes, you do. I saw several pauses/stutters in the video playback on the Xperia, to the point that the videos on the two devices became more and more out of sync the longer you watch the vid. They were almost spot on at the beginning. Also, even in the relatively low quality Youtube vid, you can see some tearing here or there on quick moving scenes. Overall it's not bad and probably 90% of people wouldn't care or notice.
I will say that your vid played better than what I currently get watching vids on TCPMP on my touch pro though.

For those who don't know, HTC has opted to not pay for the accelerated drivers for the X1. The same can be said for the Touch Pro and the Touch HD. HTC has a long history of doing this at least as far back as the Kaiser which. Even the president of the company acknowledged the issue and promised to make the drivers available. To this date, the drivers are still not available and HTC has been either non-responsive on the issue or customers have been advised to either live with it or upgrade to a newer, more expensive device which STILL does not have the proper drivers. Unless HTC gets its house in order as pertaining to these video drivers, this is the last product of theirs I will be purchasing. By the way, there have been a number of threads concerning this issue in both the X1 forums and forums for the other devices I've mentioned. Anyone who does not see the issue is either not looking hard enough or the standards are so low as pertaining to video quality that they truly don't care, but at this price premium it's really hard to justify.
Call me crazy but I was hoping that since the x1 was commissioned by Sony, that maybe they opted to pay for the drivers that htc does not. I understand that htc made the device.

[Q] A few questions about the Omnia 7

I'm thinking about getting an Omnia 7 and I have a few questions about the device that I was hoping you could help me with:
(1) How is the call quality? I saw a review that made this out to be the biggest gripe with the phone.
(2) How good is the (A)GPS? I recall seeing complaints about it. It is pretty important for me that the GPS is fast and accurate. At least not worse than my current $100 nokia symbian s60v5 handset, which has in fact been very reliable.
(3) How annoying is the amoled screen? I know it looks great in terms of color, contrast and viewing angles, but I've seen some seriously angry threads elsewhere regarding the faux resolution issue with pentile matrix. 653x392 is it?
(4) Also, can you view the screen with polarized sunglasses in both portrait and landscape? I reckon it would go black at some angle, but is it a clever 45 degrees like the Iphone or 90 degrees like for instance the ipad? (youtube.com/watch?v=78GdcXCM9nk&feature=related)?
(5) I've seen a lot of 720p video recording samples and they all seem a bit jerky? From what I understand it is a CPU limitation? I also recall SonyEricsson had a similar problem with the same CPU on one of their handsets and they improved it slightly by tweaking the codec to dynamically lower recording quality? Anything like that happening on WP7 or Omnia 7? Any other fixes?
I'm thinking about getting an Omnia 7 and I have a few questions about the device that I was hoping you could help me with:
I think you should wait a little, to know when new devices will appear. (with Mango update comes new devices)
(1) How is the call quality? I saw a review that made this out to be the biggest gripe with the phone.
Phone call quality : quite good but not excellent, even with all firmware updates.
(2) How good is the (A)GPS? I recall seeing complaints about it. It is pretty important for me that the GPS is fast and accurate. At least not worse than my current $100 nokia symbian s60v5 handset, which has in fact been very reliable.
For me A-GPS is good, fast and accurate
(3) How annoying is the amoled screen? I know it looks great in terms of color, contrast and viewing angles, but I've seen some seriously angry threads elsewhere regarding the faux resolution issue with pentile matrix. 653x392 is it?
Wait for a Super AMOLED PLUS (the "plus" is the big difference : http://www.oled-info.com/super-amoled-plus-resolution-explained
I have polarized glasses : it's black about 45°.
720p is a litte laggy, new devices (with new processor like the MSM8255) will not have any problem
Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. And yes, I am waiting for the specs (and prices) of the new phones before I act. But I doubt that any of the new phones, like the Sea Ray, will be anywhere near €200 like the Omnia 7 is now on Ebay. Hence my ambivalence.
Is it still wise to get the Omnia 7? Or just wait for the Mango devices?
(1) In the UK on Three, the call quality is just fine, its better than my friends Blackberry Torch. Apparently there is a new Radio software that should improve it for everyone.
(2) The AGPS is ok I suppose, It works. GPS initially takes a minute or two (the VERY first time its used but afterwards, it gets a lock within 15 seconds) Accuracy is fine.
(3) The AMOLED screen has amazing quality but when looking at the screen VERY closely, the straight lines are very slightly jaggy. All AMOLED screens are arranged in the pentile pattern. The Super AMOLED Plus screens have the pixels arranged in a more traditional manner. However its not much of an issue for me, its probably wise to have a look at a Super AMOLED screen and judge for yourself!
(4) Not sure really, I can view the phone fine with 3D cinema glasses to pretty much most angles as without.
(5) I've shot a 720p video and it seemed fine to me! I doubt its a CPU limitation, its most likely the software which needs tweaking. Again, its probably wise to test one of these devices out to see how it performs. I think only one WP7 device has the MSM Snapdragon (which has an Adreno 205 GPU instead of our Adreno 200. Also its a die shrink which would use slightly less power)

Things I like most about HTC One are... :)

Hello!
Most of the time >on forums like XDA< people are talking about their issues and troubleshooting, making us - readers - feel like the device only has problems and forget about the good things it offers.
There are no or close to no posts about what people like about the phone. I don't blame anyone because it actualy makes no sense of opening a thread like "I like its screen. K thanx bye."
So lets make a thread and write only about the good things it offers and what you like about HTC One and why would you suggest this phone to public.
Try to keep this thread without trolling and discouraging people of buying this phone or pointing out what problems it has. I would like to ask any MOD to delete negative comments in this thread to make it clean and ON TOPIC.
Let me begin:
When I attended HTC Launch in München I fisrt held the device in my hands. The feeling was awesome, incredible, I was speechless about the design (I didn't like it at first) and it really is an awesome device.
Sound quality is outstanding. I compared front speakers to my HTC One X and I couldn't even hear my One X ..it was like speakers weren't playing on One X. I like the Music app finding lyrics for you automaticly. Everything is easy and just works.
Zoe is amazing. I thought it was something I would never use at first (I am more like point and shoot - still images) but than I looked closely - amazing.

It works like charm. No problems or whatsoever.
The screen of HTC One compared to my ONE X is like night and day. I always liked HTC One X screen but compared at full brightness really makes a difference.
https://twitter.com/miHah1/status/306137264126316544/photo/1 - a note - battery savings are set to reduce CPU only, leaving brightness at full.
So I already ordered it and can't wait the day it arrives!
What do you like about HTC One the most?
Hello,
I've went to Vodafone Romania in weekend and I could put my hands on HTC ONE. The first thing that left me speechless was the DISPLAY. The display is AMAZING, STUNNING ...no words for it. Is so crisp and everything is looking incredible. (My actually phone is iPhone 4S, which has a great display, but the one on HTC is simply brilliant).
Another thing that I really like is how you feel the phone in your hand.
thanks!
I'm so hooked on this phone, something about it just gets me more interested than any other phone has for quite a while (all the others seemed to just be standard upgrades - RAM, CPU, the works)
Then I saw the One, and the dual speakers, new camera tech and general design made me hooked immediately (Also, the IR Blaster was a nice touch)
So yeah, anxiously waiting for my phone
Re: The thing I like about HTC One the most is...
Can't wait to get the phone!!

I really like my One because:
- fantastic music production, on headphones and using the speakers
- fast UI, especially the use of folders
- build quality, feels and looks expensive
- screen clarity makes me use this device moew than any other I have owned
- good value, in the UK it comes with free cases OR headphones OR media link etc
I don't have mine yet. But I'm sure the one thing I'm going to like most about it will be the updates to Sense 5. As far as hardware goes, the whole thing is a monster. Extreme internals along with a strong outer shell.
I love this phone, I haven't been so happy with a phone since my old Galaxy S2, which was actually my first android phone. The hardware is superb, with probably the best design of any phone so far. It is nicely weighted, and doesn't feel cheap, yet it doesn't feel like lead in my pockets. The screen is a nice size and the PPI is fantastic, with extremely sharp text. A way it is improved from my Nexus 4 is that while they are both 4.7", the HTC One screen is slightly taller and less wide, which means more can fit vertically on the screen. The touch buttons are responsive and the screen lacks the stupid wide bezel seen on the iPhone 5. The back is curved nicely and many people have commented on how thin the phone is due to the thinness of the sides, not realising that actually the phone is thicker than others out there at the back. The speakers on the HTC are amazingly loud and clear, and wipe the floor with any other phone I have put them against. When Beats mode is turned off, they deteriorate badly, and I think HTC has done this on purpose to advertise the Beats brand as offering superior sound. The camera seems really good to me, and easily beats my Nexus 4 in ANY situation, with especially fantastic low light performance, and the macro detail is second to none. Landscapes and buildings don't fare so well though and more detail can be found in other phones with more megapixels, which do make a difference at range.
I like how the notification LED is nestled invisibly inside the speaker grill, and it flashes fast enough to be spotted well. I have only seen it light up red and green and don't think it is multicoloured. The software on the phone is elegant and much simpler than previous versions of Sense which I have seen running on the One X. The animations are fast, which helps make the phone even quicker than it is. The shutter lag on the camera is non-existant and photos are taken as soon as the button is pressed. The music player is excellent, and automatically downloads album photos, as well as a nice visualiser with automatic stylised lyrics. I love HTC Zoe, and have entertained many people with some of its creations. Call quality is good. Battery life seems amazing for me so far, I get 0%-1% drain when I sleep at night, and currently my phone is on 90% after 6 hours off charge and 1 hour screen on time. The phone seems to get warm when the screen is on max brightness, although this doesn't affect anything and it may just be my device. Overall, I think this phone is amazing and would easily recommend it over the Galaxy S4 due to the amazing build quality (a few people actually asked me what phone I had when out and about taking photos) and useful software which doesn't seem bloated at all and actually contains features I actually use on a daily basis. I got this phone for £489.99 which I think is a fantastic price.
I like the screen and form factor, smaller than the Xperia Z, and with a better screen...
Makes me sad that I've got both the Z and the M7, I think the only thing the Z will be good for is ripping blu-rays onto it for my commute (that SD card slot is sorely missed on the M7)
Build quality. It's about time someone makes build quality better than Apple or even just on par with them..
I'm waiting for mine, so I don't have one yet, but this is what I fell for:
- The beautiful design, especially on the silvery one
- Blinkfeed (sure that I will love it)
- Sense 5 (like very much the look of it)
- The display (seems very clear)
- That it has a FM radio
- That it has good sound quality
- Zoe (it will be fun to try that)
the Thing I like most about HTC One is .... the waiting
pre-ordered on expansys on february 23 and still status says -19 days
seriously , for a phone's pathological sick like me the waiting is the best moment. even maybe HTC is extending my enjoyng a bit too much
Hi,
i like my htc one, cuz of this:
Sense 5 - fast and really nice
Sense Music Player - this lyric integration is awesome
speakers and microfon - great for music, videos and recording media
build quality and design - i've got an well made one
power - i can play every hd game i own lagfree
What I like about the HTC One:
-The Screen quality
-The PPI
-The dual front facing stereo speakers (and their sound quality)
-The design
-The premium materials used (actually looks like the phone costs)
-The UI and it's smoothness (Sense 5)
-The wide angle front facing camera
-The video recording quality
-The low light picture quality
-The in-call quality
-The dual membrane microphones (audio recording quality)
-The IR LED
-The FM Radio
-Sequence shot
-Zoe
Personally though, I'll be waiting for the Nexus 5 despite how nice the S4 and HTC One are.
The main reasons I am going for the HTC One instead of the Z/S4 are:
- It's design and build quality especially
- The front facing, dual speakers (boomsound)
- 1080p SLCD3 display
- Perfect performance (S600 chipset)
- UltraPixel camera (yes, after everything I have read/seen, I am very curious to use it myself)
It's just a very, very nice overall package. The fantastic reviews also help. I have seen websites (like pocketnow and technobuffalo) give their highest scores ever to a smartphone. After listning to some podcasts from Pocketnow I also understand why. It's just a joy too use, and since I have seen multiple websites say this, I believe them.
On the other hand, my choice to go for the One is also made simpler by the alternatives. I had the Xperia Z: it looks good, but it's a pain to use ergonomicly. The GS4 looks like my GS3, so no "wow" looks, but ergonomicly it's nice. The One brings both good looks, fantastic build quality and an ergonomic design.
Then there are the "last year" - specs for the Z (S4 Pro chipset) and the pretty washed out screen. The GS4 has the best specs, but it's only a tiny bit better then the One. And the much better looking and feeling design of the One is worth so much more.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the small reasons I'm going for the One (copy/paste from the sir above me)
-The wide angle front facing camera
-The video recording quality
-The sound quality of your recorded video
-The low light picture quality
-The in-call quality
-The IR LED
-Sequence shot
-Zoe
-Highlight reels
What i like the most
Its gonne replace my galaxy s3(wich i love also) so what i like most about the htc one:
-Great design and built quality
-great sound from the front speakers
-great sound from the delivered headphones
-The best recording mic from all the phones out there
-great low light performance
-The ir blaster(remote control)
-the best screen out there...
-Zoe
-The in-call quality
-Sequence shot
-The wide angle front facing camera
-great recording cam
-Great movie and gaming experience because of the stereo speakers upfront..
So i cant wait any longer till it arrives.....
So, mine arrives tomorrow - I bought before ever seeing one in the flesh just on the design! (currently on Nexus4) but I played with my my sisters new HTC One today.
I have a Macbook Pro and Imac that I use for business and home. The One looks STUNNING alongside these products. It fits in better with my unibody mac more than an Iphone ever would! The build, design, in your hand is AMAZING before I even turned the screen on I was sold.
Turn the screen on... Sold again. WOW clarity, colours, its amazingly sharp.
Camera - Super fast, Super good.
General performance is super snappy, I was planning on rooting and putting stock straight on, now I wont.
Speakers - Best I have ever heard on a mobile device of its size and thickness.
My Beats Mixr headphones sound even better than through my Nexus4.
HTC One = WIN - very premium
Goodnight for all. What about charging time ? It take 3 hours on my one x. Some games(real racing 3, hungry shark evo..) drains battery too fast. I'll recharge my onex to play continue my games but it takes too long. Thanks.
I like my HTC One because:
Best speakers I have ever had on a phone
In-call sound quality very good too
Reliable and quick GPS
Speed and smoothness in transition across screens and in browsing
Sharp, bright screen - unrivalled ppi ratio
Blinkfeed integrated feed - quicker to access than Flipboard and includes calendar/agenda
Build quality is very good
Battery can last a day without issue (though my z10 and note 2 do a bit more)
USING: BB Z10, HTC ONE and GALAXY NOTE 2

Pocketnow tested the charging time, because they thought the Snapdragon 600 chipset supported Quickcharge 2.0 (which would cut charging times up to 75%). They said it was an avarage 2 hours to go from 0 to 100% though. I did some research and I think only the S800 chipset will support this Quickcharge 2.0 technology.
Sadly.. it would have been great to go from 0 to 100% in 30-45 minutes
AW: Things I like most about HTC One are...
3 hours and via USB about 4h. Thats slow, but battery life is good enough.
