Midomi - song detection for diamond? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Hi, my friend just got his Samsung Omnia few days ago, and he was showing me a program called Midomi, he put the software on, put his phone next to the radio and after few seconds there was text on the screen - the artist and the song! I didn't even know that sound detection is so advanced that the software can recognize a song from few seconds of hearing it.
i tried to search the web for a install file but couldn't find one, so i was thinking is there anyway to get it work on diamond, since omnia uses wm too and i think that the software doesn't need any superhardware to recognize the music, just a regular cellphone's mic.
im sorry if i put this message to a wrong place, and thanks in advance for any info you might have.

there was a program on here the other day that did the
same thing.dont remember the name but its here if you search.

damn i can't find it... please, anyone... im so lonely, help me

here you go mate!

hi!
i'm very interested in music recognition, too. untill now, i've been using musicid, which is quite good. but the only problem is you need an internet conection (wifi, gprs, 3g...) to get a recognition. what i'm dreaming of is a music recognition software, which can record the song to identify, and then LATER identifiy it.
example: you're driving in your car and you're listening to your favorite radio station. you don't have a data plan, so you're not online.
now they're playing a cool song. you just might start the music recognition software, record a few seconds. later, when you're home again, you connect your phone to wifi and let the software identify the recorded song over internet.
musicid can't do this. what about midomi? or do you know another software capable of this?
thanks and have a nice day

Why not just use the built in recorder then play it back when you get access to the net

hmm, sounds a bit uncomfortable, but i'll give it a try when i'm at home.

Hi Mr Pink, I can confirm that Midomi works brilliantly on my HTC Touch Diamond (HTC WWE 2.03 rom) using Wi-Fi internet access.

Try my version on my signature.
No need to modify the registry for HSPA/3G/GPRS.
You can install on Device/Storage Card/Internal Storage/RAMdisk as your choice.

Are you happy with the PPCPE dailer?

Having had my XDA 2 now for a few weeks, and having finally worked out most of the kinks of the really inadequate bluetooth stack (by installing the widcomm stack) I am now moved to address my other annoyances: the very feature poor phone software.
I expected a very configurable phone, but was very disappointed with the microsoft dailer. The short list of features I find missing are:
No separate ring tones can be assigned to each contact. This could be very usefully, as you would know who is phoning without checking the screen.
No software to keep track of your calls or GPRS allowance. Even my old nokia from 3 years ago could do that.
No way to transfer a call from the handset to a headset. I know you can do it the other way around, why not this way too?
Very little status information on the dailer screen. Why is this, when most cell phone screens look like the status display on a jet?
Anyways, there is alot more, and people may want to add their annoyances. Im really wondering if there is any software that can replace the microsoft Dailer (like Pocketinformant replaces the pocket outlook).
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Took me a minute to know what you're talking about.
No, I hate the built-in dialer on the Pocket PC.
The author of mobidial (http://www.mobidial.com) told me there will be an XDA II version.. hopefully soon.
-arebelspy
hey,
just a few comments....
re: No separate ring tones can be assigned to each contact
- i beleive the o2 xda site has free software for download; one of which is called powercontacts. i believe it allows you to assign a ringtone to each contact. i tried it when i still had the xda1...never got it to work. so, i downloaded a trial version of ringtonex; it works like a charm and i'm able to assign individual ringtones to any contact i want. i immediately bought the software, i think it was for around 9usd. now that i'm using the xda2; the software still works great. for ringtones what i did was record the voice of my friends, officemates, my wife, and used those wav files for ringtones corresponding to their contacts. it also works in tandem with the photocontacts app in the xda2
re: No way to transfer a call from the handset to a headset
-the xda2 has bluetooth and i use it together with the bt200 headset. incoming and outgoing calls are automatically transferred to the headset.
2 cents worth.
cheers mate
robson
Transferring from phone to headset is a headset dependent thing. My HBH-65 allows me to transfer to phone and back to headset, but my Jabra wouldn't have.
Thx for the great pointers. I am definitely getting the RingtoneX app, and mobidail or something similar, when it comes out.
I just wish that developers would design more for handed use, not using a stylus, especially as bluetooth voicedailing does not work.
About transferring to a headset, I mean after you pick up a call with the XDA, transferring the call to a headset should be possible, but has not worked for me yet.
Another minor peeve, why is the sms option not on the dialler, but on the menu bar, and why is speaker phone also not on the front, but you have to press a key for it. There still needs to be alot of improvement. Hopefully independent programmers will kick in and fix all these deficiencies. It does make you wonder if the developers actually use their own devices or not...

i think it's because that most cell phones screens is their version of the today screen
i most surdenly would not wish such a confusing cluttet messy interface on my worst enemy
(yeah of cause not all cellphones are all that bad some many are)
I dont know. At least they should have the battery status on the screen, and the network logo would not be ammis either (currently its difficult to know when you have no reception, or just no reception)
Alot of the stuff thats currently in the task bar could also be bigger icons on the dailer, and it would also make it look less plain and just incomplete, as if its been thrown together at the last minute.
Surur
well not sure if it's much help but if you install some bar like advanced wisbar on your pda you'll have batt status in the bar both in today and the dialer
suppose this is a pre customised vs. free 3. party customising
some people like to set up their device with personal customising and some people want the place they buy it to handle that
in that way i suppose xda and other such devices are more like computers then std phones are
of cause if one get a xda with all the stuff in the preloaded provider rom they get more of that stuff you want
of cause thats not saying that they get enough
Ive been a user of Icbar for a long time, but as notifications is so important on a PPCPE device, and its not supported, I am not able to use it anymore. This is unfortuanate, as I enjoyed knowing what my battary status is all the time.

If you want to use your finger to dial contacts try Fingerclix by imaginet software. I used it on my Samsung I700 and now my I-Mate and it works just fine.

This is brilliant. It would be even better if it could use the phone key insteadof loosing my contacts button. Any idea how to do htis.

First Official Video Ringtone App for PPC

VRINGO(FULL FEATURED AND STABLE RELEASE)(just 2mb installation)
hello friends, while browsing internet,i came through this software which i suppose is the 1st ever video ringtone application for pocket pc.The most important thing in it is that its totally free.
STEPS TO INSTALL VRINGO
1)JUST REGISTER ON http://www.vringo.com by providing your own mobile number with country code.
2)DOWNLOAD APPLICATION(well the cab is already attached below) from http://mobile.vringo.com.
3)INSTALL it to your desired location, either on storage card or on device memory, but storing on device memory allows faster operation
4)LOGIN once using your account details, then from the third menu(FIND VRINGOS) select any one of the online provided videos to set as your videotone.
5)BUDDIE-LIST-you can also set different video ringtones for different callers by creating a buddie-list and adding your personal contacts.
6)NOW if anyone wants to have their own made videos to be set as videotone, then convert the whole video(max 30 secs) to .3gp format, rename it to pre_vringo & copy it to My device/Application Data/Vringverwrite the previous file & restart the application.
7)REMEMBER-you need to have a working internet connection in order to login to this software, however after logging once,it dont requires it afterwards....try it & enjoy
I guess somebody try this out. Sometimes my phone lags enough as it is if I get a call while streaming music over BT. I probably dont have enough memory for this one a Titan.

Thanx for this app. I've been looking for this app for a long time now! Hey, but I have a doubt. Do I have to have a Internet connection on my mobile for this software to work? Can't I just download the cab file provided here & install it? Do I have to register at vringo.com & login for this to work? Please reply anyone.
thanks
Thanks for the app. I've been looking for someting like this on my phone for a while.

This is what I use for 3gp (I just couldn't get a working 3gp from SuperC)
Just tried it on my i900 and it works for the existing videos but when I attempt to use of my own that I have edited to 30seconds or less (tried 30 and 18) it doesn't pick up the file at all?
I then went to upload file, wondering if I can upload it then download it (just out of curiosity) it was saying file size to large.
Not sure if or where I am going wrong, any advice?
Hi,
At Vringo.com I found a great selection of video ringtones from TV shows, movies, and bands.. It's also a great mobile video sharing site which allows to find and create video ringtones and then share them with our friends.

[APP][UPDATED]audioswitch

Hello,
I have been working on a new audioswitch app to replace troca2 and audioswitch.
I have started to make a new app called audioswitch v2 but soon ran out of time... and xiexin1008 got the project and had made and new experimental app.
Today, I had some free time, and made other app with a "switchclass" that deal with all the ril stuff(based on my first class that is on the Xiexin project), so others can improve and use it even as a dll in c#(u have to build it as a dll first)
I called it "simple audioswitch".
How it works: run the program and "put it on the background"
volume "up and down" switch the audio.
volume "down and up" close the app.
if an incomming call shows up, the audio will be routed back.
I have tested it only in my p3301. so I do not know if it works or not in other phones.
Once more the license:
It is free code, free binaries, and all work derived from it.
use at your own risk and I am not responsible for nothing...
Support on the forum.
-------------------------------------------------------
about the various methods of switch the audio...
mostly uses drivers messages.
u can find very useful information about it at www.teksoftco.com, even a audio driver wrapper that spy at audio messages.
by this time it is not for me, too busy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
will open sorce of this app so others can inprove it.
Thanks to Xiexin, I will not post his work now, will wait for his email.
Thanks Dan-Marius to all the feedback.
Thanks.
Hop u like. sorry for the messy code(is an one hour work).
@MarceloFB
The ideea of listeninng RIL for incomming calls is a very good one! Congratulation, you did a great job. Yes, a really great one.
The simpleAudioSwitch.cab file is attached.
Guys, it works very fine.
Thank you Marcelo!
I tried this program and I like using hardware keys pattern to change audio. I like the most that I don't have to change the way buttons worked before. this is the best solution I saw till now.
But there's is still a problem. It seems all programs of this sort use same procedure to route audio. But when audio is routed in my phone it seems it doesn't come from internal speaker. Or maybe not exclusively from internal speaker.
Sound still can be heard from external speaker but quieter.
So I can say now that we have good user interface but routing mechanism needs to be improved.
I have HTC Touch Cruise with 3LIT3 FULL ROM

The "routing mechanism" is using RIL lib, by now thre is no other "easy avaliable" way to rout the audio.
Try changing the radio or the entire rom of your phone, I have tested in touch cruise this method and works fine, but with the stock rom.
can you please tell me which ROM, radio and protocol version have you tried it with, so I can try the same and compare with this one I have?

Great app.
Just started using it on my HTC Touch HD with Dutty ROM v3.3. It seems as though Up & Up switches the audio for me (not up and down). Down and Up exits the app.
what is the basic use of this prog...
Also, earphone is silent when the phone is on vibrate (and probably when it's on silent too although I haven't tested it).
Any way of fixing this?

can be the volume or the ril mutting the audio. If the problem is the first is easy to solve, if it is the the second it wont be... just programming...
Request
Hi,
I still use the old version with mortscript to control the program and I love it .
I have a request for this new version.
1 - Can we decide which key controls the audio switching ? ( Since I have a Fuze and I have a PTT button which I never use )
2 - also is it possible to add the bluetooth handfree to audio switch options as well ? sometime when I'm driving I love to use my voip or skype over 3G using my bluetooth handfree .
Sincerely
Thunder
Will there be a new version, which is working with Skype 3.0 mobile beta?
I am having problems trying to get this to work with my Benq e72 phone running Windows Mobile 5.
I am trying to use it at the same time as Ageet Agephone mobile 2.76.
http://www.ageet.com/us/products-agephone-mobile.htm
It seems like Agephone mobile 2.76 takes over controls of the volume up and down button. When I push the up and down volume control button it just wants to change the volume and not switch the speaker/earpiece - I can't get Audioswitch to work. [Maybe I am not doing something simple properly?] But at least it installs correctly.
So then I try AudioRoute http://www.teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1995
Unfortunately this won't install properly - it says something like:
installation file is not intended for this device

I have tried modifying the cab file like it says here on the teksoftco forum:
I'm also a creator of WinMo apps (www.saman-cz.com), so I know that recreating cab is just a piece of cake.
But OK. To modify cabinet get WinCE Cab Manager (trial is good enough), open cab, go menu Cabinet->Properties, Operating System tab, set minimum version to 5.0 and maximum to 9.9, hit Ok, then File->Save
Just another result from my tests:
After restarting phone I tried rerouting once more and the microphone worked well. Weird but nice

Midomi - Windows Mobile (Try it out)

This application is truly AMAZING much better than MusicID - it found every song a threw at it and found it easily, ported from the Omnia here is the link:
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-ii-http-i8000-modaco-com/291182/samsung-omnia-ii-apps-cab/
Also when you first install it it only works over Wi-Fi so you have to change this reg entry to make it work over Data Conection
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Melodis\Midomi\midomiGU IDType
from 3 to 1"
Also the menu button crashes the application but i dont see what it is needed for anyway - runs very well on my xperia
It indeed works pretty good! thnx for sharing!

Finds in the internet the info about the piece of music it hears.
SE phones had it, I had it on my P1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543101
it still needs to be repackaged with the missing some files
it never finds the right music. i think my singing/huming skills are really ****
I tried 5 songs and it did find...... 0 of them.
are you using the sing aplication or the record from speaker thingy? cuz i tried the second one and i got like 8 out of 10 correctly... even from tv and radio and from my computer... even songs from soulfly and stuff!
The latter one.
I tried it and all it does is "error in recording"...
Try my version on my signature.
No need to modify the registry.
You can install on Device/Storage Card/Internal Storage/RAMdisk as your choice.
Thank you!
Only thing here is the menu does not work(on a X1) and after some seconds closes the app ....which I then found out it is a known bug...
Any solution though?
i tried it......it works great...... it even find chinese songs.... but the song name is returned in english... = ="
the one on SE's K850 can return chinese name...... but it's good enough already
thanks for sharing
Thanks for the reg solutions
Great found
Absolutley legendary app NICE FIND.
It found a lot of my dancehall tracks and even founr Kings Of Leon sex is on fire when i sang it !
Those who do not want to edit the registry manually to switch between GRPS and WLAN online mode can use this tool to simply switch between the modes:

new version in marketplace
for those that don't know, version 2.0 is in the marketplace..finally with a history tab to save all your searches
only problem is it loads IE for youtube videos and not skyfire (or other default browser) but still works the same
really nice app but can't find the exact songs that i wanted. Hmmm...maybe my singing skill really sucks haha
link? version 1.6.57 keeps giving "Error in recording" and when I press update it says "server error" so please post or send the link to version 2, maybe that will work on my Touch PRO
I was recently refunded midomi from the marketplace for somereason, and apparently it has been removed from the market place because it had to many problems??? :S
any 1 else heard this or experience similar?

It's actually pretty good! You should try it before you judge...
there is a way. use search. i'm to lazy to find it.
I have it on mine! You just have to add your stations on your PC, and when you install it you have to set your left soft key to bring up the keypad so you can enter your email and password. it works though. i Use it alot. i have the file so if you want i can email it to you

I found this, haven't tried it out yet. I get my HD2 tomorrow so I will try it out then.
The QVGA Pandora .cab works fine on my HD2 ... the screen is all jacked, but my bluetooth headset controls skip to next song if I want, etc. & I found the spots on the screen for like & dislike.
The link with the "fixes" for VGA/WVGA sound like a pain...I've switched to slacker on my phone, cuz it's there & seems to be ALMOST as good. When someone fixes Pandora cab for VGA/WVGA, I'll install & will go back & forth.
I dig the built-in channels on Slacker for various genres that I can switch to when I want a variety from my custom station(s) -> like when kiddo is in the car for some Barney & teen pop, or pipe the jazz through my home stereo when I'm cleaning house, etc.
Lol there is like 3 different post regarding Pandora radio YOU SHOULD USE THE SEARCH BUTTON instead of the the new thread button
I tried it out and I gotta say I'm not hating this Slacker radio but how do you create the custom stations? I guess you can't on the basic version the phone comes with?

Log onto slacker radio from a computer using the same log in information as your phone, create your custom stations. Log back into it on your phone and like magic your custom station will appear.
