BEWARE!!!!! that link leads to the touch HD page but with a touch diamond already added to the cart. are you hoping people will blindly check out and have a free touch diamond shipped to you? or do you just want to get a kick out of people spending extra money on a phone they didn't intend to buy???

I logged onto the site and when I went to the checkout, it was the HTC HD unit!
Not sure why you got a HTC Diamond ????
But always good to check first !
Cheers

No - that is when they asserted copyright. I can vouch for inkino (having visited their stores and purchased from them several times). They offer great and reliable service.
Others think so too -eg:

Can I just add that I have bought my QTEK S200, Trinity and Touch Pro from INKINO. You may not get the very best price (you are generally talking only a few tens of pounds on a £500 product), but the service and assistance I have had from the guys who work there is second to none.
I went in yesterday with a problem on my Touch Pro and it was sorted straight away with no quibbles whatsoever. All the people who work there know their stuff when it comes to HTC and will be very straight with you. They are an HTC Authorised Ultimate Partner. They do not hard sell or push something they know is not what you want or need. A BIG contrast to some of the other stores in that area!
There are in fact two INKINO stores. The one at 48 Tottenham Court Road is within another shop and can get busy, the other is a little down the road at 9 Great Russell Street, bigger and generally more staff but no less quality of service.
(A big thanks to Alan, if you're listening, for yesterday - its working fine)
PS I don't work for them either.

Release Date

I've just been on the phone to Expansys uk and they tell me this device will be available through them on the 30th September,as I previously know with Expansys this could more likely mean 30th January 2006!Anybody have any release dates from other companies and when they expect to be shipping them to customers?
Also I've been reading into the facy the cpu is 200 mhz instead of the Jams current 415mhz.Is there some reason for this?Does it really mean it's a slower unit or is the device and cpu mapped differntly somehow so it will perform the same as the jam,or perhaps faster? It looks a great device and i cab't beleive they would put a much slower processor in unless there were some valid reason for it,and i don't want to "upgrade" to a slower device!Any thoughts?
I read somewhere that it would be using TI OMAPs 195mhz some say it will be slower but some say that it would make no or lil diff as the OMAPs sort of act as 'dual' processors... one for phone part the other pda part (thus no slow down and saves power). we can never be sure unless we play with it and load it with all our fav apps though... i'd wait for a hands on review since the previews floating about are of pre-prod units or engineering samples, better to read an actual full review of a shipping product. I'm really excited about the wizard!!! hope it rocks... so far it's the only ppc coming out that i am really eyeing the universal seems too big.
Cant see it been slower really - wont do their sales much good.
Terran
Unfortunately, it will be considerably slower. While the OMAP does combine seperate processors for phone and PDA functionality, at the end of the day it is just a 195MHz ARM processor (as found in PDAs from years ago) - it's not even Xscale.
The fact that its a "dual processor" doesn't help unless you are trying to use a programme like Skype (which apparently DOES work on the Wizard!).

device on smartdevicesdirect
There's this supplier in the Uk
www.smartdevicesdirect.com
that says that the wizard is going to be available in 1st october...
Does anyone have any feedback on this site ? are they reliable for purchase ?
Their price is suspiciously low -- I've preordered with www.expansys.co.uk, I tried doing a pricematch but they said
Pls be advised that we are unable to price match something that has not been released.

So I guess £449 is the price I'll be paying (unless the price drops when the product is released).
When you're spending so much money, it's best to go with a company that has built up trust. I was reading the "returns" agreement with smartdevicesdirect.co.uk and you can only return if there is a fault; Expansys give you a 21 day grace period (like Argos' 16 day money-back guarantee). From experience, companies that explicitly state they can only accept returns for faulty items usually give much more problems/ resistance when trying to get an RMA --- even if the product is faulty (they have razor-thin profit margins and such).

( Intresting that there is no sign of the Universal.... )
Well that decides that one. Cancelled my order from Expansys and went with Smartdevicesdirect.com. Just hope I haven't made a mistake!
Well... you probably did! This device is not even leaving the factory before the second week of october. All this pre-order stuff you're reading is all (xcuse my english) CRAP
Dutch, excuse my ignorance, but how can you be so sure.
I have heard from 2 reputable online stores that they are arriving next week. Do you know something we dont ?
Yes, I do
OK then dutch, why don't you offer it up for all.
I just pre-ordered a Wizard from MadMonkeyBoy.
Actually, better than that, I just noticed in your sig, that you already own a Qtek 9100 (sorry I didn't see that before).
While I'm waiting for mine (which might take until October), can you give your impressions of the Qtek 9100. I'd love to hear how it's working for you on a daily basis. How is Windows Mobile 2005. What are the pros and cons of this device? Can you contrast it to the S110 which you also own?
Also, can you run some benchmarks for us on that processor? If your could run the SPB benchmarks (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/benchmark/?en) I'm sure everyone would greatly appreciate it. How is full screen video playing, and what is the battery life of the device with, and witout Wifi?

Hey All,
Just an update to let you know that the HTC Advantage X7500 is in stock at Inkino Ltd at 243 Tottenham Court Road www.inkino.co.uk. They sold two whilst I was still there drooling. Also picked up a cool car mount by Herbert Richter. They also had the 4in1 Cable (VGA and TV out and USB host etc) and a spare battery. This truly is the most impressive stockist of HTC stuff that I have come across and the guys know their stuff. I won't mention prices as I cut a wicked deal with the elderly gentleman. I cannot guess how long stocks will last as I overheard Inkino staff mentioning that they have customers who paid up months ago and a lot are shipping abroad.
Hang loose!
^Please tell us about the build quality of HTC X7500?
tanX for your info
how much is the prise in these shops?
please say it in $
in that site i write it was 1100$ !!!!
The build quality is very good and feels like a nice pice of kit. The keyboard attaches by strong magnets and it also doubles up as a lid/screen protector. There is a clear area that lets you see the screen for status icons for connectivity and calls etc. Trying out osVGA a the moment. Nice. Although I would fully expect some incompatibilities. There is a gyrothingi feature in this unit meaning that when this is enabled you can scroll the web page, say, by tilting the unit. With practice this works quite well. Next test is to see how the navigation and phone performs and maybe try out the HSDPA connectivity. Will report back. I promised that I would go back to Inkino to give them feedback, although I have a feeling I will pick up tips from the Dutch sounding Russian there.
Hang Tough!
^nice to hear that I will be having my X7500 next week....
BTW in middle east it will be available with the price tag of $1,340.

Hello,
ebay has quite a few Ameo's for sale. I picked one up for £440... however, you need to have a T-Mobile contract, or be willing to sign-up for one, so it is a bit limiting. I pay £25/month, with WebnWalk, which I think is good value.
I paid 400 euros with a 2 year contract with web 'n walk for €35/month. I was already a customer with T-Mobile.

I'd reply and tell them that the standard Shift does not make phone calls, and ask them what has been changed on this one to allow it.
Edit - I've just seen they are offering them for US$ 415, that alone should tell you not to go near it.
i already did, and am waiting for the reply, see i have seen iphones made in china that looks exactly like the original but with cheaper branding quality, otherwise functionalty is similar with motion sensore and everything, by replacing the battery cover which has the bad quality branding no one would know ots chines except when u go to the games and find a game called sushi and its all in chines , my point is those people are more than capable

I know this Iphone clone you are talking about. Its called HIPhone. I totally disagree here, its a piece of junk.
As pantaloonie said, dont go near Chinese stuff...
Btw...the hiphone is very limited, doesnt feature 3G and the motion sensor doesnt work. Internet is not supported either...you can buy them here in Japan for 200 bucks...if this Shift is a clone (which i hope its not), then I hope they call it S*H*I*T
anyone brave enough to order one from that site? =D
forget that, the guy disappeared after i asked about more details but what about a solution of gsm modem than can dial, wouldn't that solve the problem temporarly, i mean u will then have to use vista side all the time but i have seen gprs modem that can dial
Dont buy chinese phones for actual, buy it for novelty. I bought a "hiphone" and it sux. its 20% of what the iphone is. The icons does not respond as well as the iphone, no 3g support, not much functionality. All it is, is a working toy phone. Its cheap.. I bought the mini hiphone for $75, BUT STILL NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Plus the 1 year warranty does not work, they will have you pay for shipping round trip and if their post office lose your plackage, they wont pay for it. I sent one back and I had to complain to the Chinese government for this fraudulant trade practice.
hehe, funny stuff. There're no fake shifts in China. The demand for the real ones isn't great enough to warrant a fake one. I will however state that Chinese business is very much "tell you what you want to hear" and then let you complain about it after the sale is made. So, if you ask if something is exactly the same, they'll tell you it is, because to them it's what they call "cha bu duo" which means "pretty much". But of course, what's pretty much to the seller is far from for the buyer.
I hope that gives any future buyers a realistic picture of how things work in China. I live in China, and I know that if something sounds too good to be true, it's because it IS too good to be true. You get what you pay for in China, just like you do in another country.
Now memory cards on the other hand... well, get those in China, they're cheap, and they REALLY are what they seem to be.
Caid.

hi...just an input....if u wanna buy from www.made-in-china.com ,
make sure you are buying from a platinum/gold seller. i have bought stuff from there in bulk.. i must say that if they say its original it is... for the first shipment. second /third shipments will have some problem sets. alot of major companies either make sets there or does trading there as as certain parts of china are sort of like trade hubs.
this is my honest comment on them.
but i feel that they have made a big step forward in the sense that they are improving in the way they do business..(if you compare 5-7yrs back and now).
be it the merchandise quality and trustworthiness... NOT ALL but some
btw i am not from china nor i work for www.made-in-china.com
i am not even chinese
cheers!

i have got a shift on July. it can make phone call by speaker.
but regretfully, it can not make a video call. i tried to install 3G videoTelephony, but it is not used.
And SD reader can not used in winmo yet.
The GPS can not used in win7.
i can not read the disk in winmo.

I think that you should verify the company and buy your product. Because few days ago I was buy some electronic product from Chinabuye.com supplier and has great facility and free shipping service. I have checked my all product than It was ok for me.

To Caid444 "There're no fake shifts in China." (sorry I can't manage to include quotation here).
Just now I'm playing in "chineese roulette": I have payed 103$ for a Chinese HTC Shift and I'm waiting for a delivery. I guess that for such a price there should be a cheap mobile navigator in a Shift box (photo shows the original Shift!), but I'm still mysified.
I have an original HTC Shift and I hope that there should be at least some compatible spares like screen, keyboard and battary.
If anyone is interested I'll compare the fake with the original sample and publish here the results.

I bought a new HTC Shift from a GSM Shop in the Netherlands for 100 euro's in 2009. They are not that expensive anymore as they were and all stock are leftovers that the shopowners want to dump.
Now I expect it to be even cheaper because of all the tablets that have arrived that are more powerfull then the Shift, have a more modern OS and enough memory to actually run software on it.
I order my products with Chinabuye, much better than with what I experienced with made in china. they have on time delivery and easy payment via Paypal.
no no @ say no to made in China
Made in china isnt reliable site when you are going to buy something big in price and size @ i mean scams and worse shipping service !

well, you get all kinds of suppliers at made-in-chine. i guess it beats alibaba.com anyway, 'cause when you google the page name you get nothing but scam warnings and stories about people who 'bought' the new iPad for 19.95$ manufactured in China... and got a set of toothpicks instead.
but I would recommend using business searchers like momoway.com who offer the same services but seam to be more reliable.

Where's the promotion, HTC?

Okay, by rights this should be in the HD2 forum, but, well, this forum's my home!
Where is the promotion for the HD2? I walked past six phone-shops today, including two Phones4U and two CarphoneWarehouses, and there is not a single HD2 display - no posters, no display models, and the two salespeople I asked had no clue what phone I was on about.
This is a fantastic phone - the cutting-edge of WinMob, and something that can outclass Androids and the iPhone in most areas (not all, but most).
And yet it's unheard of. It's frustrating; I've become a phone geek since getting my Blackstone, but I would never have heard of it myself without this site and PocketNow.com. And hence the phone will fall by the wayside because it has NO CHANCE of hitting the mainstream.
If it was an inferior product I'd assume HTC were embarrased by their product, but they can't be, so why are the sales/marketing team making no effort?
It gets a little worse: I'm a Science/Tech reporter for a national UK newspaper / international website, and I approached their marketing team twice for a demo model. If they'd got back in touch with me they'd have received a glowing (slightly biased) review in front of 25million+ eyeballs. Instead, they never returned my calls/email, and as such the review went unwritten.
I just don't get the point. Okay, perhaps it's a business model, perhaps its on the premium side, but why would they not bother to promote it? Has anyone seen it advertised anywhere except through previews/reviews on the web? Heck, if they need a PR guy, just send me a message, but I just want to know their reasons for hiding the product, and if there isn't one, to rant at their marketing team!!
Any thoughts, anyone?

ok, well I've seen adds for HD2 in Ireland (both north & south) and also scotland. Not sure why HTC wouldn't advertise HD2 elsewhere in the UK if already doing so in both N.Ireland & Scotland
Cool, I am glad it's being advertised in places, but I've yet to see a TV-spot or billboard in England, or as I said been able to walk into a mainstream phone-shop and buy it, but I'm glad other places are gettig coverage.
I've seen a lot of HTC Hero adverts etc etc.
HD2 is on the elctrenoic billboards at Oxford Circus tube station. This is a Vodafone add that shows the rather ordinary and boring Windows Start Screen but not HTC Sense? Crazy.

UK Microsoft Lumia 950/950XL

Hi Guys,
Setting up dedicated UK thread for Lumia 950/950XL.
Mines on pre order. Just wanted to let you guys know about Amazon price being reduced from £529.99 (Price on UK Microsoft Store) to £469.99 for the 950XL and £449.99 (Price on UK Microsoft Store) to £419.99 for Lumia 950.
Shipping on UK Microsoft Store is set for 03/12 but Amazon are set to ship for 12/12. Amazon prices are the same as CarphoneWarehouse who have also reduced their prices compared to UK Microsoft Store.
There is an offer for UK purchases of the Lumia 950XL only - free display dock on purchases made from authorised sellers. Amazon and CarphoneWarehouse are included in the authorised sellers list. There is a catch though - it is only valid for purchases made between 20/11 and 31/01 whilst stocks last.
To get the free display dock, you need to have purchased within the dates above and on receipt of your phone, open the Lumia app that is on the phone as a pre installed app and sign in or create an account. The voucher code will be emailed to the registered email address where you will then be able to go to the UK Microsoft Store online and purchases the display dock. Enter the code at checkout and the price will adjust.
This forum is for pre-order discussion, discussion of any delays, discussion when the phones have been dispatched and received and discussion and general support throughout.
Please be nice to each other and don't attack anyone for something they have posted. We're all entitled to our own opinions.
Updates that are important will be added to this first post for ease of access.
Sent with my Surface Pro 3 using Tapatalk
I'd go for Carphone rather than Amazon, since their repairs/returns are easier to access.

I believe it doesn't matter where you get the device from as long as you get it in the initial period you get the free dock, going to ask in cpw again to confirm though

You will actually qualify for the dock. Short version - I spoke to MS support and they assured me this will be valid for any order before the end date and you can ignore the "start date" of the promotion.
Long version: The support representative I spoke to basically said that the Nov 20 date was only the initial date that they thought the first units might ship through partners. The "order date" will infact be counted as the shipping date since it's only a pre-order at this point and the orders haven't actually been completed.
If anyone is interested in buying direct from Microsoft they will price match the official retailers. Refund will be issued once deceive delivered. You also get 30 days return policy and support for free.
also mobilephonesdirect have it in stock for next day delivery.
Ordered mine off amazon this morning, due for delivery tomorrow. Cant wait!
Got mine from my supplier last week. The 950XL. Loving it so far.(apart from BT issues)
Also got my order in for the free Continuum Dock.
Hey guys,
Just got mine this evening. It is an amazing device. One small issue. When I go into the app store, I want to sign in, so I can start downloading a few apps. When I click on the menu button at the top left and then click sign in at the bottom of the menu, it comes up and says choose account. Problem is, it doesnt list any accounts I can choose. How do I get around this?
Edit never mind, did a wipe and everything is now 100% This is soo much better than android!

Now I have had a day or so to play around with it, it is wicked cool! would be hard pushed to go back to android. Cant wait for full Cortana integration on my Windows 10 desktop. Will be very cool to be able to send text messages from my PC.
@LenAsh BTW curious mate, what phone are you actually running!

@Stephen
I use a Lumia 930 running WX 10586.29 Preview Build - lovely device, S/W a bit flakey. My "dirt" phone is a Blu Win HD LTE - £59 from Amazon UK and running W8.1 UP2 - know what - it's amazing for the money! Really good.
My Android is an LG G2 32 Gb (the EU version with more memory than the UK version) and it has been a really great phone for over 2 years now. It looks and performs like new. Don't use it much nowadays.... but still pleases me when I do.

For info, available in the EU now...
For both phones, MS have pushed out a fairly significant OTA FIRMWARE update - don't get those often...
Details here.... Windows Central
Just got mine yesterday, coming from a G Note 3 the improvements are immense and some Apps are actually better than their Android equivalent (6tag, Outlook mail, Baconit to name a few). I'm converted back to MS, my last MS phone was the legendary HTC HD2, hopefully we can mod the 950 XL as much as we could the HD2.
Out of over 100 Apps the only real App I'm missing is my Sonos App , all my other smart home app's are just as good, Plex, Tado, Roku, Xbox. Can anyone advise a good Sonos App? currently using 'Smart Player'.
The camera is amazing for a smartphone, so is the screen quality and I really like the 'Hello' unlock just for the speed and handiness of it.
The only 'problem' I have with the device is as a IT Administrator who deals primarily with MS Networks, I'm surprised there's not many Apps compared to Android. I miss the likes of fing, JuiceSSH, Network Scanner, OpenConnect (though standard VPN does work), Spoofer, ADManager, and even some MS ones.... Thankfully the situation looks to be getting better as i've heard some Apps are in development or will be ported over. If that's too much then all we ask for is a PowerShell App MS!
I like 950xl. Anyone esle want to sell it?
Phonos is a fairly good Sonos app. Not as good as the official android one but probably the best you'll find at the moment.
