[APP] Vista & Buuf Program Folders - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

I have been learning a lot about iconizing everything these last days, and I created some custom folders Vista style. So anyone ho wants to order his or here applications, here are some folders to put them in. They are VGA (tested) and should also be QVGA.
I named the folder 1 to 18, so everybody can decide for themselves which folder to to use for what purpose.
Since I use quickcab to create my cabs, which doesn't allow me put in the folder files, it's been split in two. A Vista Folders.zip which contains the Vista Icons.dll. Install this one in \Windows. The other one is a zip file which contains the Folder folder, with inside (who would have guessed...) the folders. Just copy them to your device (although I don't think copying them to the storage card works) and voila some more folders to up our devices. So, screenshots:
I hope you like them, and no I have not got any other folders (these are all vista offers)
Edit: I managed to create a .cab file that installs these into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs. For those that don't have a English/WWE ROM I'll make another one that installs the folders into \Folder folder.
Edit 2: I updated the Vista folders, as Skizzo pointed out I left some files in the .dll files that made it unnecessarily big.
There is one icon set that is very dear to me, which is the Buuf icon set by Manhattan. Of this set I have selected a couple of folder icons most likely to be used in a ppc environment. This guy (or girl) created over 1500 icons in this style which you can find on DeviantArt. These are my default folder icons, so I thought I'd share. Screen shots!:
Download the 12aon Vista Folders.cab here
Download the 12aon Buuf Folders.cab here

Hi,
well done! thanks for sharing! could you tell me how to show up the new icon.
i have installed the DLL file on Windows and also the other one. now?
thanks
ciao

I managed to create a .cab file, which installs the folders to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs, I will make another cab later that install the "Folder folder" into the root of the device, cheers 12

brilliant app
nice work

installed cab and ow i have folders in programs but how to make one of that folder for default?
so how to let say make that mypictures allways show as vista(mypictures) folder?
thx

Can you upload the Buuf folder icons here?
I can't download them from Rapidshare. (download limit reached)
Never mind, can download it now.

12aon
thanks you for your work
can you make a step by step how you do that ?
something with notepad or worldpad i think !

@intel, You have see hidden items enabled on your computer (I don't think you can from your device). In each folder you will find a icon.lnk file, just copy this one into the desired folder and you should be fine. An ohter way would be just to copy the folder created by me and put it in the desired place, rename and copy your files (you'll find these in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs)
@Aqrab: I don't really need to someone a little smarter than me explained this with much detail here. Do note that if you want to create these yourself you must be able to create .dll icon files. I hope this helps

is there any chance of making more vista folders icons ?

4 MB ?? it is too big!!... have you included only 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64 icons??? (only those size is needed)
BTW, i HAVE others program icons, all made by me..

No need to get cranky, I'm not trying to cross you just trying to contribute. I found the vista .dll file and thought I'd help out. Great news mine are also different fom yours so the people have got some extra choice as which of them to use. I'll resize it the .dll file file.
@ Aqrab: As for other folder, as mentioned Skizzo has created some others. But these are all the vista folders windows offers. I could however create some ore icons like WMP, and My Computer. Just give me a list of icons you need and I will create a cab file, cheers 12aon
Edit: updated to Vista Folders 1.1

Menu Icons 4 all ROMS

Hi guys.. i am very bored of the standard custom icons shown into Start-> Programs... so tonight i have done a cab which installs a "minimum.dll" file, which is an icon library, and who make follow dirs into the menu:
Applications
Games
Internet
Multimedia
Phone
System
Utility
Mobile Office
Network
In every dir there is an icon. file which has a string inside:
#\Windows\minimum.dll,-4
By changing the number, you can assign a different icon to the folder you're in.
If some rom cooker wants its custom set of icons.. pm me.. HERE is a good archive of icons
Attached the CAB, no need to reboot, & image of avaiable icons in Minimum icon set and its relative code.
SEE ALSO POST n°5
Nice work dear. Applause for it..
I think I will try to Cook my own rom using this. Thank will let you know how it works.
For Italian friends who asked for... tonight i'll post 3 Icons pack in cab format, note that the one posted is in english (..just rename folders' name in "programmi" directory
be patient
Ok guys, i have no time to make the cabs because i'm very busy at this time, however it's VERY SIMPLE.
All is explained in the first post (concerning the icon.lnk file inside the folder to skin).
In each zip there is the dll, to copy in \windows, and an image which describes the icon number.
If someone provide me some good icons, i'll pack them into a dll file.
To see the name of iconpack's image, wait with the mouse over and erad the filename.jpg
Thanks a lot mate
Youre the man!
I tried..
God job, thanks for information & sharing
hi there. Very good job but i can't understand how to install them
Lovely
I like this a lot!!
It is VGA icons? Or QVGA?
both resolutions
Great, Thanks a lot.
How do I create my own .dll? I have a lot of icons but no instruction to create a .dll of them.
If there a chance to pimp the folder background from white to some other colour or picture?

Hi SkizZO, How do I create my own .dll?
Thank you.
You have to pack 16x16,32x32, 64x64 images to an .ico file, or edit an .ico file deleting unwanted resolutions...
Then group all icons, numbered & ordered in an "Icon library"
I've used ArtIcons Pro to do this. The icon library has the .icl extension.
Now you have to compile it into a dll (I have used GConvert)
Remember that WM supports 256 colors icons, so if you use more colors, is wasted space.
PS: Post your icons here!!!
any chance i could use some folders with the same style as the ones already on my phone? ie the yellow games folder etc...

new welcomehead
Here is a welcomehead.96 (bootscreen) for those, who have no prophet. Look at your own welcomehead´s name in windows, and give this file the same name (welcomehead-96.png or welcomehead96.png....), make a backup of your file and replace it with the new.
After some questions:
Pocket CM Theme is not for version 0.16, only 0.15
Thx for so many downloads until today. Don´t forget, that you need to download all files for the installation. I couldn´t put them all in one folder.

There are some steps to do:
First use total commander and search for *.png- and *.brn-files in windows on your ppc. Mark them all and unmark in the properties "Read only". It takes a little while, then the write protection of your files is removed. Look at the name of our own welcomehead in windows and give the welcomehead from spiderman-theme-folder the same name. Sometimes they have different names like welcomehead96 or welcomehead.96 and so on. Copy all your downloaded *.png, *.brn and *.tsk-files files into windows. The ring must be taken to Windows/Ring. If you have a touch-like dialer, you can also use the dialer files. The usual wm6 dialer cannot be styled with these files, i heard from another user. The best is, to make a copy of your old files, if you want to replace them sometimes. Make a soft-reset and look, if your cube looks in the new style. If not, go into registry: HKLM/Software/HTC and look into your folder "Biotouch"/"Biotouch", what´s the path for the files there. It must be \Windows\A01.brn... not \Ext_Rom\A01.brn... I integrated a Biotouch.reg into the download folders. Compare the entries with your biotouch.reg. If you have the same entries, you can replace it with my file. Otherwise you must rename your paths manually from Ext-Rom to Windows. So your pocket pc read the windows files. The today theme can be selected in Start/Settings/ Today.
If you have pocket cm until version 0.15, you can take the cmt-file into your folder Program files/ Pocket CM and choose this theme in the program. Poicket CM 0.16 is not supported.
It´s a little work, but if you have done it once, you can use other themes in the same way.

Make themes

Hello everyone...
I just looked for hours...
But can't find a program to make my own theme's for diamond.
I've tried using google, youtube and this forum... iam sure iam missing something,,,,
I understand i shall use Manila editor??? or???
But when iam opening it ... I can't se any pic's i can change...
I really hope someone can help me.. maybe its just in front off my eyes... But then iam totaly Blind.....
-Best regards Dennis
The easiest way is this, and do note themes do not work on any theme with a disattached Manila (for example, TLR ROMs seem to have problems with theming):
Preparations:
- Make a folder on your computers desktop called "Theme", and in it a folder called "My Theme" or the name of your personal theme.
- Connect your Diamond to your computer and copy ALL manila files (files ending in _manila) in the Windows subdirectory of your Diamond to the "Theme" folder on your desktop.
- Download Manila Editor and extract the files to a place where you can easily find it.
- In Manila Editor, press "Select Path" and select the "Theme" directory on your desktop. The program will "parse" the files and you'll see a loading bar in the bottom left.
Modifying:
- The files are now loaded. Browse through the files, and notice they're ordered by category. Also note the "Friendly name" is somewhat of a description as to what each image is. Finally, do note some files do NOT have a description and can be found in the "Unknown" category.
- Select the files you want to modify, and use Export -> Selected -> BMP/JPG/PNG (whichever you prefer). Choose a location to extract the files to.
- Use The Gimp, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or your image editing program of choice to edit the files as desired. Use the old file as indicator for placement and size. Save the files under the same name for practicality, or give them a name that lets you easily figure out what each image is.
- When done, go back to Manila Editor and select the items you modified one by one. Each time, click the item, then click "Replace". Select your new image, and click OK. Repeat this as many times as necessary.
- If all files are correctly changed, click Zip -> Zip All. I've found that Zip All gives the least problems on most ROMs. This will create a .zip file, which you can name and save anywhere you wish.
Installing: (Sushilange has confirmed that later versions of Manila Editor will have a "Create Theme" function).
- Rename the .zip file to .theme and copy it to a subdirectory on your Diamond.
- Download, Install and Run Diamond TF3D Config 0.6.7 or higher. Go to the appearance tab and select the "Path..." button. Select the DIRECTORY in which your .theme file is and click OK. Then, from the dropdown list, select the name of your theme (the name of the zip-file).
- Select "Apply'. Take into account you need AT LEAST 20MB of free space on your device, as indicated by the program.
- Select start, wait until it finishes (don't worry if it says something about deleting files), click Finish and let the program restart your Diamond.
Thank you very much...
Perfect explination...'
Thank you . Glad it helps.
Instead of renaming the exported manila files from .zip to .theme, you can also use QuickCab to make a cab file of the exported manila files. Then you don't have to use the Diamond TF3D Config 0.6.7 program.
Advantage is that you can run the cab file and you can easily uninstall your theme. Uninstalling your own theme means that the original manila files wil be restored again. Furthermore it's much more easier and faster to install a theme.

Wouldn't uninstalling the theme through Diamond TF3D Config also restore the original theme? That's what happens here, in any case.

No, no! Don't do this! Wait until I added a "Create Theme"-function in Manila Editor. A *.theme-File is not just a Zip-File. You can't use a custom zip as a theme-file.

I know that it is possible, that it works But the problem is, if it is not working in some reasons, the noobs are crying and i can't give support ;-)
When I add the feature officially, I can give support
I'd daresay screw them. It's not supported by your application yet, so you have no obligation to make it work for them until making *.theme files is actually supported by the program.
Great program, by the way.
I don't know whether I am asking too much. I want to know if it's possible to turn the big digital clock on the 3D theme to transparent (instead of white opaque color). I wanted to change the background to a photo and the clock occupies half of the screen and always blocks the person's face in the photo.

Get your device. ActiveSync it. Explore it. Find file 18c460d8_manila in Windows folder. Copy it to your PC. Save it to a folder somewhere.
Download Manila Editor. Select Path in Manila Editor > Point it to the folder you just saved the 18c460d8_manila file. You'll see a blank image listed in manila editor.
Export it and open it with your favourite gfx editing program. Edit it to a semi transparent colour. If I remember rightly it's a 2pixel wide (128 high) image that 'spans' across the screen.
Use manila editor to replace the file with your newly edited image. Then copy the 18c460d8_manila file back to your device in \Windows.
Wallah! All done. You can find everything you need via Searching and reading!

Making a theme?

So I'm new to all of this. I bought a touch diamond with Sprint just last week and stumbled upon this site for themes and apps. It seems to be a very cool site for customization, but i've been wondering where should i start if i want to make my own themes? I got CFC and Manila editor. Are there tutorials or manuals on using those programs? And is there a way to extract the preinstalled theme that came with my phone so i can modify it? Thanks for any help.

To extract your phone's TF3D files
To extract your phone's TF3D theme, connect it to your computer using Activesync (XP) or WMDC (Vista) and click on "Explore Files". While exploring your devices files, navigate to the Windows folder of your cell phone then sort the files by type. Look for a collection of files that end in "manila" (there should be ALOT). Copy EVERY file that ends with .manila from your device to a folder on your computer (give it a couple minute as there are many files to copy).
To copy manila files to a manila editor
Using either Manila Editor of CFC GUI (i personally think CFC GUI is much easier to use because it gives me less errors), click on "File" and "Select Folder" to navigate to the folder where you copied the manila files on your computer. Select the folder and the files will be loaded into the program
To make your own theme
Once you have copied the manila files and loaded them into either Manila Editor or CFC GUI, the next step is to replace some of the icons with the ones you want for your theme. In CFC GUI (I havent used Manila Editor and dont remember the buttons for this so I cant instruct how to use it), click on any of the files and you will get a preview of it. If you would like to SAVE that icon in a png format to edit (with Photoshop/Gimp etc.) click on "SAVE AS" and choose the directory in which you would like to save it. To replace a manila file with your own, click on the file then select "REPLACE WITH" and choose your file (NOTE: The file you choose absolutely MUST be the same size as the original. If the original file is 128x128, the file you replace it with must also be 128x128).
Thanks jrodi. Im thinkin of making one myself too. But I wasnt sure if the icon size has to be the same as original.

There are multiple ways to install a theme to your device but ill go through the easiest and quickest method using Total Commander
1) Copy the manila files that you changed to a new folder on your phone (Give this folder the name of your theme). Turn off the TF3D plugin (Settings/Today/Items/ Uncheck Tf3d). Then use Total Commander to find the new folder and copy all of the files in the folder to the Windows directoty of your device. If you get a prompt, select "Overwrite All" and give it a minute to replace the files. Soft reset your device and youre done
I was just looking through the windows folder of my diamond but there are no files ending in manila, is it because its the sprint version or something?
