Club, Discount card Barcode Duplicator - Touch GSM General

OK I've searched the word barcode in this forum, & no results found! Also I can't find what I'm looking for on google!
Dilemna:
Instead of carrying around several different discount store cards, in my already stuffed wallet (not with money unfortunately ), has anyone seen a program that can generate or hold an image of a bardcode that can be scanned by the cashier at the store.
The other thing is, do you think that the store's scanner could pick up the barcode from my touch display screen?
This is a neat barcode generator, but to be printed. Check this out. Looking for an electronic version of this "Just One Club Card"
Thanks!

I remember seeing this done on Lifehacker a while ago.
EDIT:
here is that article:

How about taking a picture of your barcode ?
Or scanning the card and keeping the image in your Touch ?

scanning would certainly produce a better quality image, at least in the case of the Touch camera.

I'm not sure how to go about "scanning" it into my phone . What method do you use?

Camera woe...

Hi folks
Has anyone had any issues with the camera crashing? This is what I get quite often trying to use the camera.... :
Press camera button on side of TyTN
turn camera on side and use screen to line up the shot.
Press camera button to take the shot... (or the centre joystick)
Camera pauses for a while then goes directly to the Today screen.
I press the camera button again and I get a message like " unable to start camera app. Camera already in use ".
the picture wasn't taken.
I can't remember the exact message... today it's working so I can't see it!
other info:
I am using a 1Gb storage card and the camera saves straight to it.
if I soft reset the device, I can go into the camera function again, but then it is likely to do the same thing.
It seems to happen at extremes of temperature - possibly hardware fault?
incidentally, I have tried this with no other apps etc. running
many thanks for any thoughts
best regards
I'm afraid this is a known fault with some handsets. You could set the quality to fine instead of superfine (I know, what's the point of having the superfine option if all it does is crash the app?!).
I now use Arktek's coolcamera app without the same problems.
Give it a try.
Thanks for your reply.
Hmm... a known fault. If this is a known fault - is this a S/W or H/W fault? I'm going to try your camera app - thanks for that !
Cheers
Rich
I just tried the coolcamera software.... that is superb. I guess I'll soon find out if this is HW or SW.. thanks AGAIN for that - brilliant app heheh
I used to have a cam problem. Usually after the i take the pics, the preview shows black screen. I have to soft-reset. Then later i found out it was the RSS reader, prss reader, that was doing this. I uninstalled and now it all fine.
My camera does not crash, but after I take a picture (the preview shows a fine picture) I go to the directory where the photo should be saved (storage card/my documents/ my pictures) but the picture does not apear!! in fact now that directory seems to be empty...
If I choose to save the picture to main memory this does not happend, just when I save to sd card...
Does anyone have an idea about what could be happening??
I'm afraid i've lost all mi pictures from SD card because even usinf file explorer o activesync the my picture folder is empty
thanks for the coments...
Im using XDA Live ROM but camera used to work fine with this rom
edit: If I rename the My documents folder in order to force camera to create a new My Documents folder, then the pics are saved to this new folder an they apear in... the same happens if I only rename the My pictures folder... the weird thing is that after picture is saved in the new folder, if I make changes to go back to save them to the old folder pictures are not saved again...
hi have this problem too.
but somitimes with my pda, before exiting to today where i make a photo, it make it , but completly black.....
other times , it exit to the today directy ...
there's not difference between memory card or internal storage, but I notice the problem is the resolution and the subject: if i shot with 640 or 1mp there isn't the problem ... and if i shot a mountain landscape the problem is more present.
maybe there's a software bug to manage "big" photo.
now i'm trying coolcamera.
Hi,
I had this problem last week while I was taking some photos with the 2M setiing for the quality. I save the photos on the microSD card. When the problem has repeated itself after one SR, I have thought that the problem could come from the SD card. I have verified the card using the FlashFormat maintenance program and since then I have not met again this "Camera software is already launched" problem, even using the 2M quality. Maybe this could also help you.
Regards,
Murat
Wow - it seems that this is a common one. There are several issues regarding the standard camera app, it seems:
1) The camera takes a black (or dark grey) picture and saves it in the correct place as a black (or dark grey) image.
2) The camera takes a picture, then crashes... like I described in the initial post
3) Image files being stored anywhere other than in the correct place.
I have experienced the first two issues, but not the last one.
The only thing I can really say about this is that the coolcamera application has been working fine since I installed it the other day. I have been using the camera quite frequently in different environments (for work, honest) ans it has yet to crash.
I notice that with Coolcamera, when you exit it, you exit it... so it's not left running in the background somewhere. this isn't the case with the standard camera app.
I'm going to try it out for a week and see if I get any of the above issues.
About cool camera...
I'm not quite sure but 2 other people has confirmed that they had the same issue that I post ... and both of them star having this problem after instaling coolcam (like me) ...
Really I don't know if this problem was caused by installing and uninstalling coolcam ...it seems this app has been working very good for other people here.
What the other 2 guys did was a hard resent then a restore from all the programs and they said it solve everything...I just haven't do it yet; just change the directory to which pictures are saved...
I have a problem with mine as well, but it's a bit different. My camera works, but it acts like it is stuck in 16 color mode. Very strange looking. After going through all the soft-reset, hard-reset, take the battery out and hard-reset steps of support, they decided it is a hardware problem and they are sending me a new phone (it's only 2 weeks old). I have yet to hear anyone else with this problem anywhere.

Hi there,
I have the similar problem "Camera software is already launched" as well as lost video and photos. Really pity to loose vacation memories
I have 2 questions:
1. You mension FlashFormat maintenance program. Where can I get this?
2. I installed coolcamera and wonder if I can uninstall the default camera application in some way? This question is probably for all users regarding this post.

Hi Roqin,
I have bought this soft from CNETX. You can check it at :
http://www.cnetx.com/format/
If you have SKTools, it also has a function for checking the flash card. You can also check the card using a card reader connected to your PC (not very convenient if you have the problem on the road, of course ;-) ).
I hope this helps.
Murat
Thanks Murat
I will check it. Wonder if anybody has answer on my Q2?

Leo SMARTCARD reader?!

Look at \Windows\Scardtestapp.exe.
It detects a "QC Smart Card reader", which upon connection says "Card present", but it seems to be in use by another app (which one?!).
What's that supposed to be?
Absolutely no idea , could it be something like : http://www.biometricassociates.com/baimobile.php ?
yeah, but this would require a physical SC slot... unless there is one embedded in the device itself and stuffed with a unique SC on manufacture.
Attached are some pixx of the app.
First is File Explorer shot, 2nd the app mainscreen, 3rd the About window, 4th after "connect" and 5th after "Get..."(likely Get Data).
Good luck to those higher skilled than me to figuring out whazap.
Edit: Musta be related to SIM Card somehow... when in flymode, 6 is right after appstart, 7 after "connect" and 8 after "get data".
but ive never heard of sim cards as smartcards in classical sense? oO

HD2's in-built SD card encryption. Anyone used it? Are my naughty pics safe?

As my local police have kindly put up signs warning of a rise in muggings outside my local London Tube station I expect one day to lose my phone to a gang of knife wielding 13 year olds on stolen bikes as I stumble back drunken from the West End.
So as to stop naked pictures of me and my friends being taken from my SD card and posted all over the internet I am quite interested in the HD2's built in SD card encryption. Do any of you more technically minded members rate the encryption? Or is it some jokey consumer-grade pseudo encryption that can be broken with ease?
oops, wrong thread sorry
I've never used it, so I can't be sure about this, but I imagine it just means that you can't use the SD card in another device, after it's been encrypted.
If it's in the phone when you're phone is "acquired" by said hoodies, then I guess they'll have access to them anyway.
I reckon backup and delete is the only safe way to stop your risqué pics appearing on this site when there's a new member asking how to turn on their lock screen "cos it worked this morning".
How many friends? Are they all close friends or do you have pictures of naked acquaintances? Are you a naturist?
Why not just show us and let us judge whether or not they are worth encrypting?
Joking aside, as further to what Mr johncmolyneux said, the program could detect when you are trying to open a file that you have encrypted and ask you for a password? I don't have mine handy to try it.
Regardless of the effectiveness of the the built in encryption, your better off using a third-party utility to hold any "sensitive" content.
For my business docs and all, I personal use the free opensource FreeOTFEPDA program and recommend it wholeheartedly!
http://www.freeotfe.org/
just a quick warning....if you hard reset the phone the sd card will be inaccessible.

That's the name of one of our party games.
If you're using Microsoft's MyPhone service, if your phone ever gets stolen you can go on their website and use a couple of their neat features:
Lock your phone
Lock your phone so that it cannot be used by anyone else. You can also enter a message to display on your phone's screen to tell the finder how to contact you.
Erase your phone
Erase your phone and storage card to ensure that your data is safe. Your phone will be restored to the factory default settings.

It'd help if it ever gets stolen... as long as you remember to get on the website in quick time

Camera Saving to Card

So I have searched the forums multiple times and didn't find a solution to this problem. Whenever I take a picture with the camera and have it set save to card it saves it to card then 2 seconds later the picture cannot be found on the card at all. Everything else on the card can be found on the card like music, ect. I have used the SD fix but am still having this issue. Please help. Thanks.
What card are you using? The original or one bought on ie. ebay?
I am using a new 8gb one and everytime a take a picture the photo only stays on the card for a moment then dissapears.

Apply sdcard fix.
Small tips
Use the filemanager and delete the DCIM folder. The camera recreates the folder and you'll be able to save photos to card again.

[Q] Any real application or way to hide the files?

Okay. I have some important PDF files that I need to carry in my phone and I really want to keep them private. I have searched in the market for the application to hide the files, but it turns out that all those applications only provides us the way to hide only Pictures and Videos, which is obviously more demanding and so called private data.
My concern is, no matter how I store these documents, Adobe Reader always and always finds them and displays them. I don't know what's wrong with Adobe and why it is searching for all PDF documents in the SD card and displaying it to public.
I have made the following file/folder structures to make the files not to appear in the Adobe Reader, but failed every time. Adobe just find them somehow.
.folder/file.pdf
.folder/.folder1/file.pdf
.file.pdf
.folder/.file.pdf
.folder/.folder1/.file.pdf
I also have tried all above combinations by applying hidden and system attributes to the PDF files and those folders. But as its Linux, I failed.
So I did some research and though I'll just disallow adobe from accessing things, but when I went to security thing, it told me Adobe don't need anything.
Then why it is searching for my PDF files.
There is a way and only way to hide those files from Adobe is to change their extension to XPS ( ), but it isn't feasible and not something I'm looking for.
Kindly assist me. Thanks.
Couldn't you just password protect them?
Although not as convenient you could use a separate micro sd? Or you could use a cloud system like dropbox.
you can use an application like app protector to password protect the adobe reader. though ur files will be displayed in adobe reader but adobe reader itself would require a password\pattern to open.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Thanks a lot guys

The files are already secured and there's no way to edit them without knowing the password of those secured documents. And applying password protection to every single file isn't a feasible solution. Though it's a good answer, it's not a solution. Life would have been easier if Adobe would just have allowed users to browse directories and open files instead of listing thousands of PDF files in the system.

Yes, separate micro SD card is not the convenient way as I bough the 16GB card just to have everything in single place. I even dumped my iPod Touch, because I'm considering my Wildfire to all in device. And about dropbox, correct me if I'm wrong, but it needs Internet connection every time you want to see the file, exception of cached file. May be I'm expecting too much, but my provider don't support the 3G in my area, so GPRS internet isn't something I can rely on.

Now that's a solution. I've tried the application just now and it looks promising. Thanks a lot for providing the solution, it's easier to get rid of Adobe instead of hiding files.
after applying the command, like writing . in renaming u have to restart ur cell , nd then ur reader will not find that. without restart it holds the path already so it able to find even u hide them. or dnt want to restart then install e.s security. thats gud

Even after restart, Adobe Reader just finds the files somehow and shows all of them. I'm using the App Protector now and its working fine. But few hours ago found E S Security in the market and installed it on my phone. I still needs to have a look at it. Thanks for the note mate, will be helpful for other applications.
Why Security-Through-Obscurity Won't Work
I'd rather try encrypting the files and/or not use FAT16/32 filesystem as it provides no security whatsoever
Maybe repartition your card to use a ext3/ext4 partition with user rights and encryption if those data are important to you.
