ActiveSync Error
I had the same battery problem (fully charged battery, no data or phone calls, quickly drained battery). I discovered that I had a calendar item that would not sync, so ActiveSync just kept trying to sync it over and over, which is what drained the battery. To check, open ActiveSync, select MENU>STATUS and check for any error. If so, delete the bad item (contact, calendar entry, notes, or whatever it is).

u can use the hibernating software

HP 614c battery problem

Hi i have a 614c , it's brand new but the battery is really weak. I didn't format it first when i started using it , might this be the cause ?
Anyway, it lasts just for a day with a little browsing and wi-fi . Brightness is set to middle .The rom installed is WM 6.1 with Manilla 2D. What can i do to make it last longer, underclock the CPU , put another rom what do you recommend ?
Are you using 3g or 2g?
I find 3g chews up a lot of battery life.
I have a data plan at Orange and when it connects it says " Connecting to GPRS,3G" so it means i have it activated . How can i disable it ? Is there a program that can enable/disable it quickly ?

Hi,
After using my iPaq 614c for two months the battery depleted around 10 percent per hour without using WiFi, bluetooth or even the phone. First I thought it was the battery, but after replacing the battery the problem still existed. HP changed my model for a new one which is working 'as expected' (around 2 days on one charge).
I think that the charge part on the 614c was defective.
Have you tried another battery or measured how long your battery lasts when turning everything off ?
charlieMOGUL
I did a test today , left it on at 100 % charge without the sim inserted and when i got back from work it was off with dead battery . Is it possible for the GPS module to be activated without my knowledge ?? It 's the only thing that can eat that much battery

Hi,
No, it isn't possible. GPS only kicks in when asked by some app.But almost for certain, it'll be your activeSync that always try to sync, wether connected or not. Search for the Server-source-trick to disactivate this behaviour.
Dirk
Hmm,
My guess would still be defective hardware (as well). It seems almost impossible that the ActiveSync process can put thatload on the battery.

Well, Its normal to get hot when taking a long call.. (10 min or more), but while in standby, it should NEVER get even WARM (mine stays cold as ice ) !!!
The power drain maybe is cuz your phone is heating.. The heat expands circuits and increase the power drain.

About using the MP3 player for 1 hour and drop 20%, its normal.
But, 14% then sunddely goes to 4% ? Thats not freaking normal...
Just take it back to warranty ok!

I wouldn't rush to send it back. It all sounds normal to me.
You must remember that the batteries will take a few weeks to attain full capacity operation.
Keep them on charge as much as you can (mains or car/plane etc), don't switch off at night, don't cycle them and don't drain them excessively.
If that does not give an improvement THEN take them back.
When I first got my TD2 I was appalled at the battery life and bought a spare battery. I have never used it.
And when they get warm it shows that they are happily being used or recharged and is no cause for concern.
Hi Cairo,
First of all, sorry for my english.
In my case, I bought my TD2 this summer, & I had some of these problems with the battery.
I'll tell you my steps, perhaps it could help you, if not, you must talk with HTC support.
First, use modaco's nodata to disable HSDPA/3G, use only GSM, it's much better to save battery. the link :http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility-nodata/
Second: Active Sync.
You need a task manager to see notifications.
you must find one of the repllog event.
Use this http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm.
In notifications tab find "repllog AppRunAfterTimeChange" and disable it.
In my case I have disabled two events more, PushInternetScheduleTimeChanged and PushInternetScheduleTimeChanged1 and everything works fine.
After that, in process tab, if repllog appears, kill it, and in notifications tab find again the event "repllog.exe /remote /h",disable too, and use a reg editor (dot's taskmgr has one) and search in hkcu\software\microsoft\ActiveSync, find "KeepAlive" and you must change 1 to 0.
In this case, activesync will never start again, till you connect td2 to laptop or pc with activesync (it changes the value from 0 to 1).
I hope you could understand me and the info is ok for your td2.
Regards

Huge battery drain !!!

My hd2 is losing almost 10 % per hour. If i use wifi to update weather etc in sence it may lose 5% in under 5 minutes~!!
I am sure that is coming from a bad app i am using, causing battery drain!!
Please help, any ideas which it may be??
I have installed both free apps and apps i had bought for my hd as well.
Resco explorer
Fingerkeyboard 2.1
gfreek F_Brians tskbar v5.a (many say that taskbar cause also bat troubles..)\
Pim backup
Resco contact manager
Lockscreen fix v4 by heartofwolf
16 shortcuts for sense
Resco audio recorder
sms report eraser jgui
core player
mosko mobi fim
marketplace
skyfire
wvd
midomi
million dollar pocker
PPC visuals Dusk showcase1.0.1b (because hd2 dont have task manager where i want it to be!)
Thats all!! All installed into main memory..(and of course most of them not active as task never! - only apps that running like taskbar, task manager, resco etc..)
ANY IDEAS WHAT TO TRY??
What I would do in your situation it would be to do a hard-reset and check if the situation keeps the same. If not, I would start to install apps one by one and check which one is doing that.
If i cant find any other solution, yes ill do that. But i want to go the other way round, and simply by unistalling find the problem.
The truth is though that the first 24 hours that i had my hd as stock (no apps, not even my contacts) and only the sence configured the battery was still draining fast..And with little usage i lost 40% in about 5 hours..Still far away from the battery tests from our friend xmoo here in xda..
Other users experience???? Please post here so we can check!
I too am experiencing fast battery drain. Only used for about1 hour and already 77% left.
I am wondering.... if anyone who is experiencing fast drain did not charge their phone for a good few hours upon receipt or if it was used while charging for first time.
in the modaco hands-on review, Paul said his battery improved after a few depletion/charging cycles
Hi all ! How should we do it corectly? Is there a plan? 3 charges of 12 h after complete discharge or something like that?
Thank you in advance !
i don't have the answer but can confirm great battery life. I plugged mine in immediately when i got it and left it plugged i over night. To my surprise, i am getting the best battery live of any htc product ive owned (and that's a lot lol) with pretty substantial use. Now the difference between you and me may be 3g. I live in the states and don't get 3g, also i set mine to gsm only. Maybe try gsm only for a few hours?
I've also turned off auto brightness and have it on the lowest setting most of the time, as it's enough for me and helps get the most out of the battery.
the correct way to get the battery in best possible shape
before first use...charge over night
..then use untill battery is completely empty...
...then load over night again (that means about 10 hours)
you do that 10 times in a raw and your battery will be in the best possible shape. From there, you don't have to do the extremes every time but at the beginning it takes about 10 full charging circles for the battery to use its full potential.

thats complete bull**** on litium ion batteries.
Li-ion doesn't need to do the full charging cicles and deplete the 100% of the battery will damage the battery.
My experience with the HD2 battery is great: I get two to three days with one chargecycle. I have set the networktype on GSM and not on Auto.. I think this helps.

this is the only way I can ever get my handsets to go more than one day! Fine for emails / calendar sync, not so handy for browsing/maps though!
What I do with my mobiles is:
When I open it, I use it till the battery is completly over;
Charge the mobile during 10/12 h;
Then use the mobile normally and charge it whenever I want;
After 1 month, I let the battery get completly drained and then do another full charge.
Altough is LI-ON battery and it has no memory, it's necessary to do a "full" recharge from time to time to "calibrate". Don't know if it's really like that, but it's what I've been doing and it works great for me.
I HAVE 3G ENABLED ALL THE TIME,AND WHEN I GOT THE PHONE I BEGAN USING IT ASAP WITG THE CHARGER ON, TILL 100 percent! Writing from thd phone noe as it... charges!51 percent with almost no usage the last 7 hours! Maybe i ll try the full drain thing! Just to check!
ps. also the typing expirience sucks for me.does the aling screen option works in this kind of screen!?
How's the reception in your area? I had a phone that during night, with only GSM network, drained 30% in my home. But in other areas, 1/2% only.

1) let it charge overnight (8hr+), phone off, straight from socket not through pc usb
2) fully drain the battery then fully recharge. repeat for 2-3 times
3) try flight mode (if there is one), let it idle for 1 hour or more. any drain?
4) go through settings and switch off periodic updates (activesync, weather, email). any drain?
5) remove questionable program(s) and see if it helps
6) worst case scenario, hard reset and check if battery usage is back to normal. then install one program at a time

that's the best way to destroy battery. it is a li-ion: first time it's importante to have fast charge.
wot i do is:
-fast charge and never let the battery die.
in this way, alla my phone have an eccellent battery as the first day.
There must be something corrupted with your device.
I had min in use from Friday noon to Sunday late afternoon (forgot my charger at home):
about 1 hour of phone usage, push mail activated, weather sync (syncs all hours), took 5 pictures (2 footprint and 3 normal in hires) and alarm at Saturday and Sunday morning
battery dropped from 100% to 21% in this timeframe with the above usage. I think this is not too bad

probably you aren't very knowledgable regarding batteries...I am.
altho Lithium-Ion batteries have no memory, they still need to be charged correctly at the beginning to free up the potential.
but whatever...do whatever makes you sleep at night
Can you tell us exactly what is the best charging routine for our phone please. When new and when its been used for a while. Thanks.

Battery thread = sudden death at weekend

It's similar to other battery thread, but not exactly.
I use my HD2 from 5 weeks, and till now, even on the beginning I have very good opinion about battery, I wasn't understand Yours posts about battery weakness.
Till now...
Form a week I use data connections via GPRS ( before that I was on delegation ( roaming ) Whole week was OK, 2, sometimes 3 days on one charging.
Today ( Saturday ) I disconnect charger about 11:00 and now - 23:30 I have only 11% - for me is a total break down.
What's change since yesterday day , and day before yesterday ?
Today I use my HD2 less. I don't use wifi, or gps, I talk 3 times, and send 1 sms - that's it - I also connect 3 times for data update ( weather, mail, rss ) but I did almost the same in last 4 days - even frequently.
Rom that i use its not so important because it wasn't changed it since 2 weeks, and before today it was ok.
Only change is that I was out of gsm network reach ( my parents-in-law live in tiny village - ( I was out 4 or 5h ) and
I know that most of battery goes to network search, but not that amount.
I also had a lot of opened apps in back ground
What could happened ?
I have all battery-tweaks running.
This time, at morning I use official charger, normally I charge using usb active synch cable.
Any ideas ?
Did you do a simple soft reset? It happens that some program sometimes screws up and prevents the phone from entering standby.
My thoughts :
1. Backgroung runnigg apps drain battery - maybe there is some type of app that not closed cause battery drain - processor usage.
2. official charger - to rapid ( to big current ) - charging to quick can give false 100% state flag - in real it's charger for example to half of capacity.
3. out of network - maybe trying to connect for data synch without network cause some kind of 'try loop' that drain battery
4. Most of connection start when I turn screen on - it cannot be coincident to use phone in the time of automatic update almost every time.
Maybe there's some bad routine to check is screen on to start synch. - that drain batt.
I had 1 freez caused by rss hub - and I manage to unfroze it in combination of still working 'start' and 'standby' ( end call ) button.
You can be right wit simple soft reset. I just do it and we will see tomorrow.
I have noticed that the charge frop pc via usb that shows 100% runs out in a much faster time than when phone is turned off and pluged in to mains charger. have also had much better battery life since i flashed radio to 2.07.51.22.2 hope thats of some use to you.
I have the similar situation , again !
It's funny because my battery life is very short when I'm NOT using phone at all.
Yesterday I check my phone only twice , and i sow that batt level change from 47% to 9% in just 5 h ! ( loss of 38% ) - but from 100% at Saturday evening to Monday morning - 47% ( loss of 53 % ) it takes 40h.
I think that's all about some application, probably htc email data update. it's working hard when phone is in stand by , or it prevent processor to goes to stand_by mode.
You indeed have a program preventing standby, this matches what you can see here.
I'd recommend installing a program that can show current consumption (like battclock), making a soft reset, anc checking standby current regularly inbetween opening programs etc to try and find out the culprit.

serious battery problem..

battery is ending 9 or 10 hours later after fully charged. there is no background application working, no incoming or outgoing calls, no sms, no wireless even I never touch the phone after charge but battery is not working even half day. how can I solve this problem?
Could be a faulty battery, could be the rom you're using, a bit more detail please?
I closed 3g connection and phone is now in edge mode and battery seems like ok for now.
get the NoData.cab from somewhere here on XDA(use search) and disable the connections if u want ... others keep the WiFi shutdown when not used and that's all new phone with new battery should last for 24 hours ATLEAST with moderate usage !
