how to change my default input method from Chinese PinYin to English - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

Recently, I have flashed the rom for my athena from English to Chinese 6.1.
whenever I try to use the 7501 magnet keyboard, it always try to use the PinYin method. I have no chance to type it normal English character.
Is there any way I can use the magnet keyboard to type in English character straightaway without flashing the English ROM back?
thx!

Just click the Left lower button of the on-screen default keyboard to change the input from Pinyin to English. This works in all devices with Chinese OS.

pls help
thanks for the respond chan, i only have A4 pinyin installed in the system.
seems that the default english input method doesn't come with the ROM.
so i don't have the default on-screen keyboard as u recommended. the only on-screen keyboard is ZTA4 keyboard. whenever i try to type on the magnet keyboard, it always come with pinyin.
is there any way i can install the default english input back via certain CAB file?
there is another possibility. maybe i have flashed a defective ROM. could u give me an indication where i can download the latest Chinese ROM?
thanks!

Arabic Keyboard

Is there a way to have my keyboard type in arabic?
I have tried to change the Local ID on the keyboard but it doesn't work. I hate using the onscreen keyboard when typing in Arabic as it's difficult.
Try changing it in the Regional Settings.
Nope, regional settings is not for that.

to travel between arabic and english writing, u should click on the (Sym) button, or E/ع try this.cause if u install the 17 cabs in sequence, you will get a full arabic interface and a working english and arabic physical keyboard. and i have it working.
Are you on windows mobile 6?
If so, Everytime i follow the instructions, install the cab files mentioned and restart, my device freezes on the windows splash screen. I always have to hard reset the device.
Can you give me a list of cabs you used to have the keyboard working? It would be appreciated! thanks.
omly instal arabizer
it will do all
you mean if i download Imaginet's arabizer (from their website) that'll work? I've tried that and did the alt+symbol button but all that pops up is the symbol menu...

Word Complete Tab isn't available for Keyboard input when using a non-english ROM

This problem has been haunting me for a while : When I flash an English ROM the Word Completion function is always available, i.e., the word complete tab shows up on the Input Option page. But if I flash a Chinese Rom, for some ROMs it's available for others it's not.
My question is : What controls the availability of this function, the keyboard input component, or the system configuration such as a registry entry? I'd like to use ENGLISH word complete function even when I flash a Chinese ROM, how can I do that?
BTW, When the Word Completion is not available, I look into the registry and see it's enabled(HKCU->ControlPanel->Sip->SuggSpell = 1, HKLM->System->IME->CompIME->SuggWordsEnable = 1) , but still its config page doesn't appear and its function isn't really enabled.
Thanks for any comments/hints/suggestions on this.
I have the same problem. who can resolve it? thanks.

Thank you,
Oved
Yea, I believe AnySoftKeyboard, which lets you install multiple-language keyboards, from the Market has a Hewbrew keyboard.
I just got my new HTC ARIA & tried installing AnySoftKeyboard.
It say it was installed successfuly but i cant see the program in my device.
Any idea someone?
make sure to enable the keyboard through setting >> language and keyboard.

Keyboards will not be found in programs , but can be seen in Settings>Applications if installed.
To activate go to Settings>Language&keyboard to activate and configure.
To set the Input Method (choose the keyboard you want to use when multiple keyboards are activated) , do a long press on any text input box (i.e. google search) and select Input Method.

Hardware keyboard custom layout

Hi,
I need two layouts. When I press fn+space, I get a list with all Scandinavian languages and English. But I need just one of them (Norwegian) and I need one additional (Russian). I tried "Russian Keyboard", but it knows nothing about "ÅØÆ" keys and it also changes software keyboard. For me it's better to remove all these layouts but Norwegian, and add custom Russian layout. I saw a topic with remapping of keys, but I didn't understand how to add layout and change mapping just for this new layout.

a layout is a set of key-mappings
you can find them in "/system/usr/keylayout"
I guess your phone didn't load the correct keyboard layout file. you can try to force your phone to load your desired layout file by deleting or renaming them
So if I put a new layout to "/system/usr/keylayout" it will be attached to the list?
BTW, I tried to root device without success. Temp-root doesn't work for me...

Keyboard Language problem 2.3.4 OrangeFR

hello, I have a problem using multiple languages on my atrix's keyboard. After I installed the ROM from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409&highlight=keyboard+language I follow:
Settings->Language & Keyboard Settings and then I can only select locale to set a default keyboard language for language settings.
-----------------------------------------------------
Language Settings
-----------------------------------------------------
Select Locale
User dictionary
-----------------------------------------------------
Keyboard Settings
-----------------------------------------------------
Input method: Swype / multi touch
Swype: swype settings
Multi touch keyboard: multi touch keyboard settings
------------------------------------------------------
External keyboard settings:
------------------------------------------------------
Keyboard Language: *****VOID BOX*****
Does external keyboard have to do with that? Another version I used had an option to multiple-select input languages for the keyboard and swiping the "space" button changed between them, which is what I am for. Is there any method to install / tweak something?
thanks in advance
