X1 black delayed? - XPERIA X1 General

The big swedish mobileshop katshing.se has changed the date for the black x1 to november 7th. Deliverydate for the silver x1 is as before october 9th.

I don't think SE will delay the black one in their "home country". Hopefully it's only katshing but I doubt that other shops like Phone House etc. will delay the black one. From what I've heard from Phone House and other sources the black one WILL be relesed the 10:th.

Well PCCity seems to already have it store (which I find strange cause I talked to a SonyEricsson sales person last week and he said it would not be available anywhere until 10th).

I really hope not, as I think I have decided on the black one. Any guesses as to when the store in London will get stock? Do the SE stores get before other retailers is what I mean to ask...

i ordered preordered mine! i told them i care what color, just send me one ASAP!

I think it´s just the first shipment that is sold out. Next shipment is in november.
Perhaps this is good. Now I have more time to decide if it´s going to e X1 or Touch HD...

QTek 9100 is in stock at Expansys now... still no word from SDD.
...and now SDD have confirmed they have stock!
Is SDD really charging 35 Pounds to ship to the US? That's $62 to move the box... Seems expensive when the box doesn't weigh very much.
Just ordered mine with AirMail.
I wonder how much time it will take to reach me...
Annoyingly... they received the stock on friday, so I bet we can expect to wait until Monday before any shipping takes place. Then we have to wait for the backlog of pre-orders to clear... ugh!

What do you mean by this? When I pressed "Confirm" I thought I WERE with these first pre-orders. Do you mean that in case the current batch isn't enough for everyone I'll have to wait for October 19 (or any later date) for my order to be shipped?!
The current batch is enough... but think of all the people that ordered before you! It will take a while for them to catch up with sending the parcels out!

11:48 Lodon.. just got my Qtek 9100.. it is grey black -- just opening the box now... will try to let you know later on my first impression!
mate in the office got his today. put it side to side against my k-jam earlier and it seems no different in build quality. the darker front facia is quite nice.. and the gun metal grey sides and keyboard are nicer than the black on my kjam.
out of the box software is a bit lacking.. not even a custom theme.. just the default wm2k5 one.
personally i'd still go for the kjam since imate has a uk service centre. no difference i can see other than colour and thats just a personal preference

for stuff on the qtek what i am finding.
Who cares if the service centre isnt in the UK. The Qtek has a 2 year warranty, I-Mate only has 1 year (granted, you might need the extra year as waiting time for shipping it to/from the service centre )...
Personally, I prefer absolutely minimal customisation on my device... so thats another plus for me.
My order is "processing". If they ship tomorrow I guess I will get it by Friday with the simple insured AirMail.

SuperTrader.co.uk - For anyone thinking about using them!

SupereTrader.co.uk are the only mail order outfit in the UK that I know of that claim to have stock of the Experia. Expansys & Clove have sold out.
I phoned supertrader on Friday to ensure that they had stock - was informed that they had plenty; I agreed with the bloke that if I bought there and then, and paid their £15.99 Saturday delivery charge (Royal Mail Special Delivery), they would ship it Friday for delivery today.
Anyway, they never bothered to post it. My suspicion is that they never did actually have the device in stock. They have taken the money from my account (including the £15.99) Saturday delivery charge.
I've emailed them to cancel the order - as far as I am concerned they failed to uphold their side of the bargain.
So... for others thinking about buying an Experia, avoid this crowd - its unlikely that they actually have stock.
I checked out their ratings on the price comparison sites - and they appeared to be reasonable... not from my experience. If they could not ship it for Saturday delivery, they should have told me, and I would not have bothered ordering.

Let me tell you one thing superetrader is the best and I got my xperia 2 weeks ago from them and they delivered all the time mine was next day delivery and they delivered I always bought all my fones from them, and they never ever let me down it is the best supplier in the uk or world wise, be patient you cancelled to soon they have the black ones in stock, they just emailed saying they had the black ones but i am happy with my silver one from them,

I suspect my story is the same as csw43's. Maybe it will arrive today, then I just have to get the excess £8 out of them for not sending it Saturday delivery as agreed, and wait until next weekend before I can get to the PO and collect it. They wont get my cancelation request until this morning so if they already posted it, I guess I will (eventually) recieve it.
We shall see.

Xperia Recalled?

I just read on hofo that the Xperia has been recalled. Can anyone confirm?
it's for cracks near stylus hole on some stocks, already deployed on the market and in stores, don't worry. At least if you don't have crack near stylus (check sticky)
is this why shops such as expansys has the black version in stock but no silver ones?
if i step on X1 screen, there will a cracked screen. will Sony recalls it due to cracked screen? haha

Anyone care to tell me how this works because I live in the States and I bought an X1i from the UK. Can I just call SE and send it to one of their service center here in the U.S? I have a crack near the stylus also.

I doubt that! You might have to contact SE in the UK but at least it is worth a try - call SE US or write them an email ... see what they tell ya!
I just spoke to the Sony Style store in San Francisco. They did get in a shipment of approximately 12 phones last week, but were instructed to return them all. The rep said they received the correct phones (not the X1i, as some were speculating), and that they needed a firmware upgrade. They should get them back in stock later this week, early next (see 12/8 ship date at sonystyle.com). I guess we get to wait a little longer.

That bodes well for all of the users at the moment. New firmware!
I have spoken to 4 different sony style stores and have been told, their shipment of X1 where recalled due to firmware issues. But to my knowledge some sony style stores did not report this, frys electronics, and J&R have no idea about this "firmware recall."
There is no mention of this in an official sony or ericsson site and when I called the dedicated X1 support number on sonyericsson's site, the lady said they have not recalled any phones to her knowledge.
So the question is ... is the right hand and left absolutely clueless about what is going on? Should I just buy it from fry's and hope this "recall" only applies to the shipments to some sony style stores? I assume there is no firmware update available yet for the X1 and some people saying it has bricked their phone.
I don't want to wait any longer for this phone since I can buy it from frys now and it is just painful. But I don't want a brick either T_T. The tough gagdet choices in life.
I'm scared about hardware issues. Firmware/rom issues doesn't care as xda exists

Cracked again

As briefly as possible.
My X1 (silver, 08W44) had two cracks since last month: near the stylus and near the battery housing. Got repaired for free (warranty) after one week. I get the phone back on monday 9th march. In the morning of 10th march I notice a small crack in the middle chrome plastic band; I get *angry* but I decide I can live with it. In the morning of 11th march (today) I notice another, very thin crack near the stylus (exactly in the same place as the first time).
I get *very angry* and decide i can NOT live with this second crack (I know it will get bigger), and write the following mail to SE.

After less than an hour I get a phone call by SE (how did they get my mobile number?); the person asked me to explain the case, wanted to know the IMEI of the phone and asked me when and where I was going to take it for repair. Also asked me if the problem was a varnish peel-off or a plastic crack.
I got very surprised (and pleased) of such care, and asked if SE was aware of the problem with the X1s in whole Europe (world?), and the guy told me that they would have started to get informed.
Will keep you updated.

It would be a lot of easier to get the phone repaired if SE officially acknowledges the problem.

From Italy Dadaism, and my phone is not branded.
By the way (despite the content of the e.mail) with the SE guy I didn't mention any kind of discount in the phone upgrade, neither asked about an official position from SE. They only said that they will start investigating.
Anyway, seems hard for me to believe that SE (italians, at least) didn't know nothing about the issue until my email. Also consider that the first time, my phone was repaired in about a week without any kind of problems.
Lets see what happens.

Availability in (physical) stores

Does anybody know if there is a shop at Frankfurt Airport where One could become available on the 15th?
My wife also went to a shop at Glasgow, but they told her that preorders will be handled first and if there are leftovers, then she could grab one from the store.

there is an o2 shop near where you might have luck. I don't think there will be any other shop or provider in germany that has the phone before mid april. But that's just my conclusion on the statements on availability I heard and read thus far.
Same story
I went to the carphone warehouse yesterday to check I have been affected by the delays. The sales woman said that my order is still due for arrival on the 15th of March. It might be to do with the fact that I am an upgrade with orange or simply because I ordered early when the stock was still available.
Let's pray that it arrives as soon as possible.
Has anybody checked some P4U or 3 stores? Anything there?
