http://stores.ebay.es/newasiabol_HTC_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ202759019QQftidZ2QQtZkm
know my question is the following:
To take out the case (front), i need to take out the screws in the back? I see in the that they take in the guide of xda but is to take everything(lcd screen).
I only want to change the digitalizaer
I think i have to do only the folllowiing steps:
-open front case (carefully)
-take out the cable
- proceed to take the digitalizer of the case
-change it
- turn on the cable
- lock and goooooooo
Qustion: Is need to do something in software or only change and go?

Replacing Screen + frame

Hi,
Broke my screen a couple of days ago. I have a lot of information and programs installed on my universal and dont want to install everything again.
I have therefore bought a used universal and I wonder If I will be able to replace the screen + frame without hardresetting the unit. I have downloaded the service manual but I couldnt find any info regarding that. If any one have any useful tips on replacing screen + frame plaese let me know. Do I have to take the phone apart or is it possible to replace screen and frame only by loosing the screen by the hinge?
Is this a difficult task, (looks easy in the manual)?
Thanks in advance,
Miki
Just need the right tools. Not too difficult and you need an antistatic arm band. Goodluck! How bout selling me your extra mainboard?
first post here but i just found the site.
I broke the screen on my o2xda exec and took it too my local Carphone Warehouse. I am not one of their customers anymore but they looked the repiar up on their system and it showed that the repair cost was going to be £40. I authorised repair and got a written copy of the cost and confirmed the cost about 10 times as i didnt belive him. The phone went off to HTC's repair centre and came back three weeks later with a new screen and a complete upgraded rom. I paid £40 job done.
Might be worth a try if you have one near you.
No prob.
All parts will be for sale as soon as Im ready.
Is it possible to switch screen with frame without hardreseting?
And is it possible to switch screen without taking the phone apart?
/Miki
There is a way to just open up the just screen part of the clamshell but you risk breaking your flex cable but it can be done if you are really careful. I dont recommend doing it this way though.
I suggest you follow the instructions as per manual by opening up the keyboard part first and then clamshell then replacing the screen. It's not too difficult. Don't forget the anti-static thing so you don't mess up the mainboard.
Also, you don't have to hardreset to replace your screen..dont forget the anti-static thing!
Please reserve the mainboard for me...Thanks!
I wouldnt mind the flex cable!
Its easiest to leave this in the plastic housing, thus most of the actual shell (top lid, hinge, bottom keyboard housing part etc.
Let me know if you have this spare as my touchscreen doesnt work now and im desperate!
I'd be interested in the camera flash (flashlight)
IF/when you're ready to part out the remainder of your device, I'm in desperate need of a replacement camera flash (flashlight).
-Kevin.
Please let us know how your replacement went. Still would like to purchase that MB from you.

How to disasseble your Trinity

Dear friends,
My offer to the forum, a step by step guide on how to safely disassemble your precious Trinity. You might ask of course, why should I do that on a very expensive electronics device? Well I personally had to do it in order to remount the phone in a white casing because my black had peeled off after two months of ownership and I did not want to send the phone to HTC. Also because it was really fun.
My best regards to you all.

What a great tutorial !!!
Thx a lot, it is the best one.
GREAT!
Thank you very much for this very helpfull guide!
Good !
Hi !
Thanks for this great guide !
Very good work !
Concerning the tutorial that I have written any questions are welcome !
Regards !
Great
Thanks for the tutorial
Great tutorial! Thanks! I actually just had my Infrared window pop into the phone on me today (half way at least). I want to try to get it back to normal again w/o sending my phone to HTC. Apparently they have a swap program, so who knows what kind of condition the phone you receive will be in.
Where did you get the original white housing? I might be interested in switching that also since it will be half-way apart already.
Dimanto,
what a super guide. The photos and layout are really good.
Now available in [pdf]
Dear friends,
I have converted the "How to disassemble Trinity" guide in [pdf] and is now posted in xda-developers. I think that this format is more proper because the file size has reduced a lot. You can find the rapidshare link or the attachment in the first message of this post.

Thanks again !
Make it sticky!
Great "how to", thank you very much
@mods:
I think this post should be stycky
Hello, great guide, only one question, when detaching the cable from the motherboard for the LCD screen you commented it was a little more difficult and to pull up the black lever. Can you elaborate on this part and also advise how easy it is to replace and close once the cable is reinstalled. I have a crack in my LCD screen, so probably wont have to go as far as you. Have accidently broken this type of clip prior and want to be careful. Thanks
LCD Panel and Digitiser
Hello dimanto, any thoughts on how the LCD panel and the digitiser fit together prior to me starting on this project. Thanks.

Hello my friend. Actually it is not so difficult to pull up the black lever so you can then easily take out the screen cable. This is rather easy, also to clip it back on. What you have to be careful of is when you unclip the LCD screen cable from the the M/B, then when you pulll out the LCD screen from its postition, do it very carefully because it is very easy to accidentally cut the LCD screen (ribbon). So don't worry about the clip.

Well I do but if you are buying a new LCD screen don't bother about it because the digitizer is already on the new screen. If my reply is not helpfull just tell me what part you are changing exactly. Basically the digitizer is a small glass attached on the LCD screen connected to her via a small ribbon cable. If you need something more just ask.
Regards!
thanks dimanto
but can you please choose tools which you used from this page
http://cnn.cn/shop/tools-c-71.html
because there are different sizes and types of tools

This is exactly what happened to me. I broke this little black clip and now my phone is useless. Where did you get another one? I just cannot fix the flat LCD cable anymore to get a proper picture on LCD (now it's either inverted or screwed up or totally missing).
PLEASE HELP! I can't live without my Trinity

Softbank X01HT broken mobile - fell on the ground!

Hello,
I have a mobile from softbank, X01HT which fell on the ground and broke. The touchscreen shows nothing but white when I turn the device ON.
I know for a fact that the touch screen is broken and it needs replacement, since the device responds like nothing else is wrong (after some time the screen goes black to save power and if I touch it it goes white again, and all other lights are ON and it sounds when turned ON). I sent the mobile to softbank to replace the screen, the said it cannot be fixed!!!!
I am not sure if there are any other options to fix my mobile. Is there repair shops? any other place I can go to?
Please help me all my work is on that mobile!
Sounds like a bad problem. What happens if you receive a call?
Does it still work?
Where do you live...?
Sounds like yo may need to open it yourself to see if you can fix...
Could be you just need to replace the LCD screen. As aquasesh said, try to call and see if it works - make sure you talk a little to someone...
You should be able to buy a COMPLETE LCD (not just the touchscreen) from ebay for about $100AUD.
Heres the link to the service guide so you can take apart - http://michael-channon.spaces.live.com/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c02_owner=1
You will need a size 6 torque key, a small flatblade screwdriver and a small Phillips head screwdriver. Its not too hard but take it step by step and don't rush ahead. Your Hermes is fairly robust and not too easy to break, just be patient and careful.... And when putting back together, remember to keep an eye out for the camera resolution handle and make sure the battery catch goes in the right way...
Cheers...

you should try to hard reset or flash with other rom.. if it doesn't work i think you should sell it.. coz if the one broken is the lcd, it will cost quite expensive..
I had the same problem. Some parts of screen did not work. I had to send it to the repair service. And they have replaced a new screen.
Probably you need to do the same.
thanks
don't another way ?

Maybe dust inside your LCD... Like my, the tech guy says too much dust in my LCD...
First of all, the LCD has nothing to do with the touch screen.
It is a separate thin layer on to of the LCD called the digitizer.
It should not be as expansive to replace, but before you send it to the lab, try the following:
1) If you have a screen protector of any kind remove it.
2) See if you can get to Start->Settings->System->Screen->Calibrate
(maybe using hardware keys or some kind of remote control app)
Try to recalibrate the screen.
3) Try to hard reset your device (make sure you backup all data first!) by holding camera and comm manager buttons (on the left side) and pressing reset.
If non of that works you definitely have a hardware problem (possibly a loose connection) and should send the device to a repair shop.
Changing ROM is unlikely to solve this problem and will only void the warranty if you still have any.

Just fixed my Digitizer

I have just got my replacement digitizer in the mail 2day from Hong Kong and installed it just now, all is working perfectly as new again. I did a hard reset when the touch screen was first playing up, so I have lost all my themes, settings etc but luckily my office docs etc are still intact.
Anyhow, I made a video on how to replace the touch screen, its only quick as I did not go from the disasembly part, as there is already videos and tutorials on this, so I just documented on the actual digitizer replacement, which is actually basic 2-5mins work, but I thought a vid would be good for any noobs needing it in the future.
Once I edit it all up I will post the video here.
If anyone needs help on replacing the digitizer just ask. DON'T be tricked into buying the LCD + Digitizer if you only need the touch screen, as it is very easy to do without the lcd, though some ppl disagree.
Thanks for reading, thread will be updatd with Vid asap.
Hi X86
I have a crack on the upper plastic case, thats prob. why I have dirt showing on screen. In your opinion where is it located and can I clean it ?
It seems as if (if the crack is on the actual original housing, not just a add-on case) that dirt/dust has fallen down inbetween the digitizer and the LCD, so you can see it through the touchscreen right?
This is fairly simple to fix, you will either need to patch up the crack with silicone or something (best from the inside so it does'nt look messy) OR buy yourself a whole nw housing which cost about US15-$20.
Then just pull your elf/in apart and use cotton tips and wipes to thoroughly clean the LCD and insides.
If you need any help, just let me know via PM or here.
?Good Luck!
Thanks
That was my feeling, now I just need courage to take apart the casing (either repair or replace )
Thanks for bringing up this issue in the forum and extending your hand to others.
I appreciate it alot.
Hi x86
I have read the sticky for disassembling the elf. Can you tell me if it's necessary to unscrew anything and remove the rear speaker in order to remove the front panel ?
Edit: I think I found the answer in the next pics, the 4 screws attach to the front panel, right ?
Hi, i've just entered the world of winmo. i've recently wrecked my Elfin. But i can't seem to figured it out whether it's the LCD or the digitizer is broken...
1) my Elfin's screen turns to white with a few red and black stripes on the lower left corner, it doesn't react to any touch gesture.
2) i can still activesync the device and seems that my SD card is still working, i could copy out my PIMcontacts...thank goodness
3) the alarm still rings the next morning, i assume my device is still operating, of course now i've taken out the battery.
4) i've ask the phone shop for repair enquiries and they said that the replacement parts are not for retail selling in my country, Malaysia... so it needs to send back my Elfin to OEM and takes about 3 weeks time and cost around USD $ 130 bucks....
5) my friends told me it wasn't worth it, thus i was thinking of looking for help online and finally i found this thread...
6) can anyone offer few pieces of info? i thank you 1st.

That sounds like both a Digitizer and LCD issue.
Red and white strips is caused by the screen, while the phone not sensing your fingers is caused by digitizer.
But you still managed to use something like mymobiler to rescue your stuff right?
Yeah, you're in Malaysia right? In Singapore, to get this items, we have to get it off ebay or dealextreme.com.
But be careful with this, it void warrenty.
If you send it to HTC service centre, it may cost $160> Singapore dollars.
Cheers,
Jeremy
