Most of the wm6 ROM´s have included the WIFI router or a similar aplication, so it´s very easy to set up

Surfing Inernet using PC Connection?

Hi all,
I live in a country where GPRS is very expensive to live with, however I have a DSL connection at home, and I would like to have a program that enables my wizard to connect to the internet via my PC DSL connection, that is, the wizard connects through BT to my PC, and I will browse the internet (in my wizard) using the DSL connection on my PC.
this will allow me to be around the house while surfing the intenet via a DSL connection.
could you tell me please if there is a program to do so? does Wireless modem utility enable this? I strongly prefer freeware cause I dont have a credit card (I dont have money also!! )
Regards
It does it out of the box. Plug in your USB cable and it will start ActiveSync and your Wizard will share the PC's net connection. You can also do it via Wi-Fi. I have a wireless router at home, and I can sit in the living room and browse the net at broadband speeds on my phone - neat!
Andre
If you are connected PPC to PC you always have possibility to have internet connection on PPC by wired connection USB, by Bluetooth or WiFi( with some tricks or new AS 4.2)
Your PPC will show the connection to your PC's DSL connection in the network status window if you tap on the signal strength indicator.
My MDA II shows it like this for example:
Thank you all,
You are very neat and helpful guys

I don't think you can ActiveSync over wi-fi. You can browse the net via your wi-fi router though.

Using the WIFI connection on my Wizard for my laptop?

Is there a way to use the WIFI connection on the Wizard on my laptop via USB cable? Maybe some sort of dhcp server or proxy server for WM5 ?

just install the modem driver on your pc (its on the cd)
disable active sync
connect the phone vis usb
run the modem link app on your phone (its already installed) in programs
and away you go ??

Exactly
Isn't it easier and faster to just get a WiFi card and plug it into your laptop?
Did it not come with one already?

Unfortunatelly, the best way for this kind of conneciton - is JUST TO BUY a $20 WIFI CARD for your laptop.
I have an older laptop too, and would like to use my QTEK9000 as an USB external WIFI card using th einternet connection sharing on the device - but no luck so far.
you may try this approach: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=453&more=1
but is is a painfull way and still doesnt help much (only HTTP).
So, the PCMCA WIFI $20 expence is stil the best solution.

using 8525 as a USB WiFi card

I know that using Wmodem I can use the 8525 to connect my laptop to the internet through the Cingular data network.
But I have an old laptop that doesn't have an in-built wireless card.
Can I use the 8525 to connect my laptop to my home WiFi network ?
I guess no, there is no way to connect wifi card in tytn (TIACXWLN1) to PC, and also driver should be problem... maybe is a way to route internet throught NAT or somethink like that to USB port and Active sync with speciall program written for WM5/6, but I never heard about that.

Using the Hermes as a wireless network card?

I accidently broke my wireless network card [laptop-XP] and was wondering if it is possible to connect my hermes via USB to the laptop and use the connection from my router.
Router > Hermes > Laptop
Thankyou
Hermes is running WM6 T-Mmobile
If the hermes can use my wireless network can it not just share it with my PC via USB?

OK..I was about to start a new thread with the same question but luckily found this question. I have the same question, the only difference being that I am using HD2 now. So is it possible to use my HD2 as a Network Card rather than using the one in my laptop cause it is Atheros based..and it sucks !!!
No, Internet Sharing only gives option for using the existing Data plan for sharing. I do NOT want to use that....I want to use my existing Wireless Network in my house.

HD2 WLAN connection for Desk over ActiveSync

I'm searching like crazy but can't find a thing.
When I connect my HD2, I get to choose 3 modes. The last is to give free my internet connection the the connected PC. But then I can just choose my 3G connection and not the WLAN.
Is there a way to add WLAN as well? It means I would use my HD2 as a WLAN stick.
thx tomylee
go to startmenu->tools->wifi router
thx, but there i can choose only from cell connection or COM1
Am I right in thinking that you want to connect your phone to a Wireless network, and then use it as a modem for your PC?
If I am then I'm sorry, but this can't (currently) be done.
Best option? Get a Wifi dongle off eBay. They're dirt cheap - I saw one for less than £5!!
OK THX
strange that they block this
This is possible if you use WMWifirouer. http://global.wmwifirouter.com/features/

You cannot use your phone as a wireless adapter (connect it to your PC and pick up a wireless signal)
You can connect your phone to your PC and use the 3G on your phone for a PC Internet connection (i use this on my laptop sometimes when i need proper access to Outlook)(this is 1 reason i don't have an iPhone)
You can set up your phone as a router (other PC/devices find it and use the phones 3G connection)
You can connect your phone to the PC, and get the phone to use your DSL (broadband) connection by default and NOT your phones 3G.

I think it can be done with WMWifiRouter, or their Feature description is false.

but unfortunately WMWifiRouter is not free, and as said before, there are some really cheap Wifi dongles on the Internet, much cheaper than WMWifiRouter and your HD2 together.
I tried WmWifiRouter before and it was able to do the wanted feature.
Just give it a try.
