Hard Reset - Mogul, XV6800 General

Hello everyone, I recently got a Titan, and was installing programs on it, and one of the Programs I installed deleted everything, and somehow deleted my password, so now I can't use my titan at all. I've searched the forum on how to Hard Reset it, but haven't had any luck.
How do I hard reset my Titan?

hold down the two soft keys (Claendar & Contacts) and then reset.
Keep holding the solf keys down until the reset screen appears.
Then just follow the on screen instructions.

More important, what program did you install so we can all avoid it?

The program was GSlide - http://freewareppc.com/utilities/gslide.shtml.
are there any keys in particular? I've tried resetting it and holding a variety of pairs of buttons with no luck, or will it take several minutes for the Screen to appear?
[EDIT]
It just hit me that all the paper manuals are from my service provider, that's why they're all useless, and the actual manual was electronic. I just looked up Hard Reset, and it said very specifically for a hard reset you hold the left and right Softkeys (The two with only a single dot on them)
Problem fixed Thanks

Regarding GSlide
Hi
Sorry to hear about your problems.
I am the author of GSlide. I just want to point out that GSlide should risk free as it actually does not install on your phone. The odds that your device hangs permanently because of GSlide is very unlikely.
The standard implementation of GSlide is a file explorer and as such it is of course sensitive to user actions.
thanks
Lars

hold the 2 buttons with dots under the screen, then with the stylus poke the small hole on the bottom of the phone to reset it, hold the 2 buttons till the screen comes on.

Can't get my K-Jam to hard reset

Hi everybody,
I just can't seem to reset my K-Jam. I tried it a dozen times but it still is a soft reset. Ok before everybody get's angry: I know how to hard reset (hold the two side top buttons and press the reset button). I tried it in different timings like first holding down the two side top buttons then pressing the resetbutton and holding it for almost a minute. Or first pressing and holding the reset button and then the two buttons but it is always a soft reset.
I guess it is a soft reset because I don't get the calibrate screen thing.
Any tips here because I want to get rid of the slowdowns from the virusprogram....?

Hi,
I had the same problem. Theres a facility in settings called 'Clear Storage'
start>settings>system>'Clear Storage'
this actually does a hard re-set.
Thanks Webster,
I didn't think of that one! That did the trick!

Hold down the Comm Button and Voice Button continuously while tapping the reset hole.
As long as you keep holding down the two buttons, the screen will go black and soon prompt you to hit Send to hard-reset (wipe the unit), or any other key to continue with a soft-reset (reboot).
Thanks Beyondthetech,
I'll try that next time when I need it  .
Great blog you have! Has been very useful in making up my mind.
I'll install TT 5 later now I know how it can be done.

Just a small update
Just to let you guys now. I finally found out the proper way to hardreset.
The trick is not to let go of the Communications and Voice Command button until you have stopped pressing the soft reset hole. Just wait with releasing the two buttons until there is a message on the screen asking you to press the Sent key to hard reset.
Another funny thing is that you can restore a backup (made with Sunny Backup) on another K-Jam device. It still runs. This came in handy because I exchanged mine for another because of some hardware problems.

Which one is the "Sent key".
the telephone "call" key (green handset) (left side)

Please help, I can't read text msg and url after open...

Hi,
Please give me a hand...
I can read text messages' headline only, but I can't read the contents.
Whenever I touch any headline, which shows blank.
Actually it's empty (white screen without format).
And IE was happening as the same case also.
Sigh...
I recently installed a trial version software as a cleaner for release more memories.
I deleted some files and let main memory of 13% free,
but I'm feeling so bewilder that I have making a quite mistake.
I couldn't read webpages on ie and couldn't read any text messages on mailbox,
after I deleted "some lnk files", "the whole directory of GPRS MONITOR
in My Device\Program Files\" on my O2 Atom.
Could any one help me to solve my problem, please? :?
You have to try to reset your device.
Have you tried the soft-reset of your device ?
If that does not work you will have to do a HARD reset.
For soft reset, press the small recessed button at the bottom of the Atom.
For HARD reset (you will lose all your data, but at least you will get back a working Atom), with the Atom OFF, press the small recessed button at the bottom of the Atom AT THE SAME TIME press the power button at the top.
You will be prompted for hard reset press BOTH the CALL and HANGUP buttons.
Last option : Reflash yor ROM.

I've already tried soft reset it for many times before I post this message. :?
 I made the hard reset at last....
You're right, at least I can recover my Atom.

WM5 Password Forgotten

Hi, a helpfull friend has set the WM5 password to strong alphanumeric and has forgotten it,or just wont tell me what it is. Can anyone tell me, how can I get around this to get MDA Vario working again?
Many thanks
I think a hard reset may fix.
But I am not to sure.
I have tried that, device is still coming up with password request.
All I can think of is flashing it with a new ROM but if it goes bad it could kill the device and I am not sure it would remove it but in theory it should. Other members may have some hacks to fix it.
A hard reset will definitely remove the password, maybe you are just soft resetting the device.
I have tried as says in manual many times, it comes back up with the password screen every time.
I can only try it with MDA:
Turned off
Turned on with password screen illuminated
Manual says:
88 Managing Your MDA Vario
To perform a hard reset
1. Press and hold the Comm Manager button and Voice Command button on
the device.
2. Keep the two buttons pressed, and at the same time, use the stylus to lightly
press and hold the RESET button.
RESET button
Voice Command button
Comm Manager button
I have tried it with MDA:
turned off
turned on showing password screen
Sounds like you are doing the reset wrong....
Hard resets are awkward - hold in the two top side buttons, press the reset and keep holding the top two buttons after you have removed the stylus from the reset hole. About four seconds should do it.
Hope that helps.
you'll know if you got it because you'll get a black screen with white lettering that says "press send to format" or the like
otherwise its just a soft reset. On an older ipaq I had, if I had a password it would ask on teh PC everytime I synched. This was with PPC 2003. I'm not sure if you'll still have a problem when you try to sync your data though.
Good luck.
Bilbo_28 & others - You were right, I was not doing a hard reset properly and getting only the soft reset.
It seems after doing it a few times, that the hard reset instructions in the manual should read something like:
hold in the two top side buttons, both the send and receive buttons leds should come on and stay lit.
Insert the stylus in the reset hole and observe both send and receive buttons extinguish
remove the stylus from the reset hole and keep holding the two top side buttons until:
The screen goes black and the following message appears:
Press send to restore
factory default,
Other keys to quit
Release the top two side buttons
Then press SEND to restore factory default
or press any other key to abort hard reset
I think an e-mail to T-Mobile telling them to update the manual would not go amiss !!
Many thanks for your assistance.
Thankz man
hey thankz man really got a great relief
Wow. I was doing the hard reset wrong. I had the same password problem. But now its stuck on the "align screen" menu wth? It moves the cursor around the screen and yet it comes back to the menu. I've run through it at least 10 times now

Is there any way to do a soft reset without removing the battery cover?

I asked this in another thread but then thought it should have its own as it is relevant to more than one problem. Apologies if this has been asked, I couldn't find it.
So as the title says, is there any way to soft reset without removing the battery cover, such as some button combination presses a la the iphone (in which you hold the power button and home button down).
The reason I ask is that on my old HD2 the battery cover was loose on one corner and was never flush and was in a constantly 'popped out' position which really really annoyed me and made the phone creak when in my hands. I don't want to keep putting the cover on and off so a button combination would be very useful.
If there is no button combination, would the AE button mapping program ( http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php) work if you assigned for example a reset with a triple press of the back key? Although if the phone has crashed then I doubt any programs would respond, but worth a shot if it happens to anyone to try it
Thanks for your help!
If the device is freezed, any attempt to softreset with a button will be vain, no program will run and softreset the device; Open the cover and remove the battery (it's way easyer than find something to soft-reset, damn htc, once I've removed the back cover, it's all useless!)
If you want to soft-reset when the device is still running fine (or semi-fine) you can use any program you like, such as XDA Shutdown, or keep pressed the end jey to shut down
Yes, if the device hasn't frozen altogether, you just press long on the 'off' button and select 'power off'. When you switch on again, the device will soft reset.
I use PHM Reset. It does just what it says: soft reset! Of course, you can use only if the phone is not completely frozen but it's very helpful when your phone is becoming sluggish or other crappy behaviour we are familiar with...

Screen went black, for good

Been a while since I have been on here. I miss my Wing so I decided to reach out to you guys and maybe you guys have a solution. Last year while I was still using this phone, my screen would flicker white once in a while, then that progressed into only turning on when I slid open the LCD screen slightly. Meaning that when it was closed, it was black, couldn't use the touch screen, I would have to slide it open to use it or I would have to slide it partially to use it while it's semi-closed. Then finally one day the screen just went black and doesn't work anymore. I know the phone still works fine because I see the keys light up and I feel the phone vibrating. I took it apart thinking maybe the band of the screen was loose or cut, but it was perfectly fine, I even took off the band and put it back on to see if it would make a difference, still no difference. What do you think it can be?
try a hard reset:
press both soft keys and while press the soft keys press the soft reset key by ur stylus for about 3-5 seconds and then release the soft reset key still pressing the soft keys. when u release the soft reset key some instructions will appear to format the phone mem. remember to make a backup of all important data before proceeding.
if this doesnt work then try updating ur ROM ... i find flashing my herald with flashcenter to be the easiest way. you can find the HOW TO here on xda forum
