Start menu pops up a lot. NEED HELP - Wing, P4350 General

Ok first off. Nice Site here. There is a LOT of informative stuff here, and it's really great. You guys know yourr stuff. Unfortuantely it wasn't enough...for what I needed.
I tried fishing through this site to see if anyone has had the same problem that I have had, and no luck.
This is my girlfriend's OLD phone, so before it officially becomes a worthless paperweight, I'll try and fix it and sell it while some value is still attained to it.
What is does in a nutshell is the buttons seem to not work a lot. And randomly brings up the Start menu up with any button you press. If you let the page sit there it seems to get a little better and doesn't bring it up AS MUCH. But mainly the buttons seem to be messed up or something.
I tried installing a new ROM from this site, and I COULDN'T DO A HARD RESET. I tried over and over and even had a helper. It just seemed to not work. I would get stuck at the Tmobile page forever, and be forced to put back the OEM ROM. Then it would work again.
But sometime it would be fine for a while. The thing is, it's unreliable. You never know when it's going to NOT work, and start messing up again.
I'm at a total loss.

Ok. THe absolutley WILL NOT HARD Reset in any sort of way. Just tried it out again. It just does a soft reset everytime

T-mobile Wing issue

So I been searching on the forum for a while now, still haven't found the solution. Well I was deleting the status bar on the bottom of the screen from the registry. Then I did a soft reset, but it kept repeating itself on the boot. T-mobo screen, the Window mobile screen, turns black, then back to t-mobo screen and so on. So the solution to that problem was to take out the memory card and reboot it. But thats kind of annoying since I have soft rest once in a while and I don't want to keep taking it in and out. Does anyone have a solution for this issue?
Thanks in advance.
don't want to bash the n00b here but you could try posting this in the correct section. the t-mobile wing is not the same thing as a HTC wizard. you should try posting this over in the HTC herald section.
oh I'm sorry. I been looking through this forum and been dling things from it here. So I thought it would fit here. Thanks tho.
Sorry, but... along the way I did something that had the same effect, multiple reboots after a soft reset.
The only thing that worked was to hard reset and to rebuild my set-up (including removing the T-mo tray). Works fine now.

Quite a few threads on this.

Search soft reset loop, or boot loop and you'll find what you're looking for.
yea thanks for the reply. I couldn't take it anymore, so I did a hard reset.

Some Help... Phone blank screening to a degree

Thanks for reading.
I'm currently using WM6.1 on the phone, and loving everything about it.
Since day 1, I've used a phone lock code, along with PIN1 code.
When unlocking the phone for after say an hours inactivity, the keypad will show, then the screen will go blank only showing the top bar of the phone.
Any press of buttons and screen will just make a beeping sound, and so far nothing I've done will restore the keypad to unlock the phone.
Is there anything wrong with the ROM i have, and is there anyone who can suggest how to correct this?
Please remember, the top bar still shows, and a reset allows the phone to work as normal (once logging back into it of course).
Thank you,
Hi guys,
Sorry to bring this back up, but this problem is still going on.
Not sure how to resolve it, so hoping someone would know how to solve this.
Thanks,
Posted twice for some reason.
Maybe is a sw failure,(50%) try to reflash with this fw: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3625023_6275_1540700_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe
if your hermes its from att/cingular. after flash open and close the tap of hermes, if the blank screen continues or return this, the failure is hw (the flex component broken, bus, pcb) in this case you need to buy the spare part or send to sat.
good luck
other possible solution

Hi there,
Its not white screening, or anything else, I think the next time it does this, I'm going to have to take a picture, to make sure it can be understood clearly.
Basically, when bringing the phone out of standby (from pressing off/on button) and attempting to enter my pin into the phone the phone will allow me usually to press at least one number of my pin, and then it'll black screen, where the start bar still displays, but no response.
The handset isn't problematic when being opened for use, or anything else, its just annoying to have to reset to load the phone back up again.
I hope this helps?
Further to the above, here is what i've been talking about...
Happened last night, typically as I was bored, and had to wait till morning to take the photo...
Still no movement on this post...
Would it be suggestable to upgrade the install of WM?
If it is, how easy (will read guides beforehand) is it to do (reasonably, hard etc).
Just this is now my only phone, so don't fancy my chances bricking it.
Thanks!
Sorry to be posting yet again, but this has now happened 3 times a in row since last night. I wouldn't mind knowing if a rom fix would sort this, and if so whats the best rom to go for...
Just keen to get this sorted now...
Thanks.
If it helps, I've nothing running when this happens. The exception of last night, where I was using Audio Manager when walking home, and had to soft reset once in the door.
Hi
I am almost certain you have a software fault here and need to reload a new ROM - take your pick - my preference is schnaps - it isnt that hard to do and should solve your problem
Just go to the Windows upgrading section on here and follow the process - you will be happy

Leo won't boot anymore

Hi everybody!
Just got my Leo two days ago and I was bombed. Had a 4350 before and you can imagine what big a difference that is. But now this occured and I really don't know what the heck is going on here. Without any reason the Leo froze after not using it for two hours, just an active sync connec. So I grabbed it and it was frozen. Thus i did a soft reset. When it rebooted, for some reason it seemed like the first time I started the device, asked me for the time and google settings etc. Very confused. But then I came to the Homescreen, which was blank, just like after a hard reset. Ok, I thought. This is nasty but all my stuff was backed up, so what. I tried to switch to the settings panel and found it ultra super slow and the settings panel wouldn't even appear on the screen, just the title on top. I thought, this is wrong, very wrong and decieded for another soft reset. And now it won't boot at all. It stands still in the screen where it shows this pink circle and the RUU and whatnot version.
I am speechless. It just doesn't start, tried it like 4 times now. I didn't update RUU or anything since this thing is T-Mobile branded and it wouldn't let me. I tried it this morning but just got the error in windows that my device won't allow... After that I took it for a 3 hour ride outside and used it for like 10 more hours. And now this!
Has this ever occured to anyone else around here?
Any suggestions? I'm quiet angry right now, think I gonna return it tomorrow. Hopefully they don't say I tried to flash it or whatever since I did not. Cannot explain this to me.
Regards,
Zoimt
hi sounds like bad news have you tried a hard reset
Do a hard reset, press the up and down volume then at the same time press the power button. Keep all three pressed for about three seconds and a hard reset will start. If it happens again you have a faulty device.
I thought a hard reset is only possible in windows. Since I never come so far in booting process, I just tried it once but nothing happend. Not sure if I tried it for 3 seconds I assume I did

Take the battery out then put it back in. Once it's in press all three buttons at once until you see the hard reset begin. It will ask you to confirm by pressing the up volume button.
Oh boy! It started again! I thought I tried to hard reset it with the key combo you also adviced me and nothing happened but this time it worked. Thus I assumed it only works at a later point in the boot process. But thanks for showing me the opposite!
Man, this takes a load off my mind, thanks! Just hope this was a one time thingy and doesn't occur every 28 hours again.

Argh! The screen is no longer responsive. What to do?

Just as i said - Argh! The screen is no longer responsive. What to do? I can no longer slide the lock across the screen. i have tried to flash the ROM with the 1.66 official but i cannot because it tells me to unlock the phone. I cant! argh! I've pushed the little red button by the battery a couple of times as well as removed the battery. Any suggestions? The hard buttons allow me to answer a call but that's it. i recently turned on the lock for the phone (today in fact) but I've unlocked it several times since doing so before this happened.
Sounds familiar...
Sounds like it is the same problem I had, as well as a few others on this forum. Even after a hard reset, it still didn't work. According to other people here, the solution is to have the screen swopped out for a new one. I've actually just sent mine in today to get it sorted out.
Just curious - I've got a suspicion that environmental conditions may have a role to play in causing the failure. What is the weather in your area like?
Very nice here today. Sunny, mid 50s(f).
I bought this off of ebay. Do i just send it in to HTC?
Try a hard reset, and if it doesn't help then make sure you have an official ROM and send it to HTC.
a hard reset is the little red button next to the battery, correct? ive done that.
and i cant very well change the ROMs at this point now, can i?

I would really like to wipe it before i sent it in. i dont want all my info, etc going into someones hands i dont know. anyway to do that?
No, that's a soft reset. Hard reset is pressing the red button while holding both volume keys until you get the "Restore factory settings?" prompt (when the device is on), then following the onsceeen instructions. This is what you're looking for to erase everything, including any possible software bug that could have caused the issue.
If the touchscreen still doesn't work then, send it in.

No! A hard reset is:
- Turn phone off
- Press vol up and down at the same time and then press power button (hold vol)
- follow the instructions on the screen
Be aware, that all you data on the phone will get lost. I recommend taking out the SD for that as well. After that u r done. By what you say i assume, that you didnt flash a custom ROM yet, right ?
Thanks! that didnt work either though.
I just want my money back now honestly. This thing, as pretty as it is, is just too much trouble.
Sorry double post...
A faulty device can happen to anybody, just bad luck... can't count how many times it has happened to me as well in the past.
I heard that there is a batch of phones that have a faulty screen, other problems are that without pressing anything the phone still registers clicks, phone doesn't always detect the correct place of where you pressed and the screen not responding.
I have got this on my phone and have arranged a pick up from HTC to pick up my phone for repair, hopefully in a week or two it will come back with a brand new screen that works
Ive had it a couple of months now. Im not sure if i can deal with the lack of apps that my iPhone has, pandora and the like, and the fact that teh HD2 would every so often change time and even date and i cant get weather in places my iPhone can.
In short, i love the HD2 for its specs but i no longer trust it at all.

[Q] Unsure of possible Bricking

WARNING: This might be redundantly long. But at least it's clear. I believe it to be a matter of wp7 and android. So it'd be inappropriate to paste it in either one of those. Enjoy reading!
I've scrolled around the forums for a possible answer, but I couldn't find any threads with exactly my problem. I'll organize the situation:
Problem: HD2 Won't turn on.
(That's about as helpful as saying 'I put gas in my car, put a key in it, and it won't turn on. Help?' right?)
What happened: I was following the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11097380 (Not slandering them, just using it as a reference to help the trouble shooting of what's going on.) And I followed it as it went. I tried flashing the radio leo rom 2.15.50.14. And it completed. But then my phone turned off, and hasn't come back on yet. It makes the "ba-dum" noise when I plug it into my PC though. Although, there is no faint vibration like I've read with other's problems.
Background info: I've stumbled through about 3 or 4 flashings of wp7 roms and such. As I've broken them all. This one managed to survive since July. And I wanted to try an android os, it's been a while since I've touched any android phones. Anyways, I had wp7 and all the appropriate downloadings/flashings onto it. I thought maybe I should start over, and just follow the guide's steps. Although! There's the problem that I can't use .xaps to my phone. I can sync with my zune library, but I can't xap anything to it. Essentially I'm saying it works, but it doesn't.
And finally, the reason why I did this: The screen progressively became unresponsive. It started as what seemed as if I had oil on my fingers, and it fixed itself within a few seconds. As the days went on, it became minutes, then it finally stopped working. I'd go on to take out the battery, then have to restart it. Also, like a past hd2 of mine, it's moved onto restarting itself at random times. Sometimes one boot up after the next, or just randomly. It was perfectly fine. Perfect.
P.S. Sorry for the length, I wanted to be completely clear to prevent questions like, "Need more info. What's exactly wrong?".
Thanks for anyone helping me! I really do appreciate it. I don't want to have to get ANOTHER one.
P.S.S I'm really terrified of it being bricked. Although, it didn't work at the moment anyways. But I was hoping to attempt to fix it. OH, and I called t-mobile about the screen being unresponsive. (Don't worry, they don't know what I've flashed to it ) They told me to hard reset it with vol up/down + red button. I tried that. The screen worked again. For a short while. And every now, and a thousand random reboots, the screen will proceed to work. But it doesn't show a history of texts during the duration it works. And it usually freezes, then boots down. Boots up, and stops working.
sorry to be the bearer but it sounds as though you're yet another victim of the digitizer hardware issue. its one of those things that simply cant be helped and seemingly comes out of nowhere!
you might, however, go back to basics. start by flashing a stock winmo 6.x rom. if that cures your screen troubles you will have a fresh base to start over (and more carefully) ... if it doesnt fix screen troubles and it stays unresponsive you will have it already ready to be shipped off to be replaced ( this way tmo or wherever you're sending it to wont be able to say YOU caused the screen issue)
in any case i wish you luck!
