[REQ] GPRS/DATA auto disconnect program? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Hi all, on my previous P3600 I was used to use a small application that was able to disconnect GPRS/data connection after a few (settable) minutes of inactitvity (gprs autodisconnect from Ervius). Unluckly this program doesn't work on my new Diamond. Is there any working application or tweaking for Diamond?
Thanks in advance,
Ciao, Andrea

I would also like to second this request. It's useful for those times when we are interrupted and forget to disconnect our data connection.

Advanced Config and DiamondTweak does it.

Andrea,
Did you try phoneweaver from SBSH ?
It is a profile manager where you can set up (inside the profile) to change nothing except connect and disconnect data connections.
Every profile can be activated on a time basis (e.g. every day @ 7.00) , on a event basis (e.g every time you run Activesync) and manually with a predefined duration (e.g 1 hour)
Moreover it does many other things (it is a realy complete profile manager) ... and works great on my Diamond.

Hi Dave, I just downloaded and installed phoneweaver trial version, for my needing is too much, I spent a few minutes to study various options, but I wasn't able to find the specific option I'm looking for (disconnect after x inactivity minutes)
Thank for your suggestion.
Ciao, Andrea

I found that using Advanced Config it disconnects after x minutes (mines set to 1) but it disconnects faster exiting opera but doesn't disconnect at all after checking hotmail.

Solution here:

Hi, I need to disconnect the GPRS after a minute and I have installed this cab file on my device. I have checked in the registries and the values are the correct (SuspendResume = GPRS_bye_if_device_off and CacheTime = 60 ), but my device still stay connected one minute after I have stoped to transfer data. Could anyone told me why this trick does not work on my device. It is HTC Touch with Windows Mobile 6 ?
2. Miroslav Georgiev - September 2, 2008
I forgot to ask something… the value of the registry is “GPRS_bye_if_device_off” is this means that the device should disconnects only if I turn off the device from power button ?

Seems not work, perhaps they are the same reg value of advanced config.
Download NoData

NoData disables your data connections, it doesn't disconnect automatically after a set period.

Thank you for the link, i investigated a bit and discovered that in my registry is already set as per your suggestion, also I discovered that if the phone is NOT in sleep mode, so the display is ON, the auto disconnection works fine, but if the display is OFF the auto disconnection doesn't work at all, so, I think, seems something related to the sleep mode.
Could someone do the same test?
Thanks, Andrea

Wi-Fi Shortcut on Today Screen

Hi All
Does anybody know or has utility to create shortcut to turn on/off Wi-fi on Today screen? I really need it 'coz it can save my time when I want to control it.
Thanks

You can use VJVolubilis if you have software that allows you to put links to programs on your today screen, or else put the wifi toggle command in your list of permenant start programs. The registry hack doesn't seem to do anything other that show the status of the bluetooth and WIFI connections on my universal. You can get VJVolubilis from http://www.vijay555.com/

I've tested this software alreay. But, it didn't work on my PPC.
(Dopod 818 Pro with WM5). Anyway, thanks so much for your info.
@Theerayuth
There was some mentione here, that VJVolubilis actually does work on the prophet, after you have at least once manually turned on/off the Wifi in the Com Manager.
Now I wondering, if we do use the wifi toggle at startup, will this enable VJVolubilis to work afterwards without the need for one turning on/off in Com Manager?
Any thoughts?

gprs automatic disconnection after mail checking

good morning everybody,
quite a newbie here. Please be patient.
I have noticed that my qtek 9000 does not disconnect automatically after a gprs connection. Per example after mail checking . It did it until somedays ago. I did not change anything in the applications installed.
Could somebody explain mewhy this can happen ? Is there a solution?
Many thanks for your kind replies
Tony
I need it, too
I know there are some third parts programs that cheks idle connections.
But i hope there's a registry hack 'cos i don't want a program in background that eats ram and/or CPU.
Is that possible?
:!:
I need this too !
Ok got it . The hack is GB - soft gprs & tweak
http://www.gb-soft.cz/xdaii/product_gprs_tweak_en.htm (for free download)
Settings (qtek 9000) to get immediate disconnection after mail connection are as follows...
Hope that a wise guy will bring things to normality on next rom release...
Cheers

I went through HR and tried it again without ANY application...same problem.
At this stage I browsed around and grabbed this hack..
To be followed thus...

install Resco Registry editor, then look in your registry for AlwaysOn string (there is a distinct entry for each connection setting you have created), then change from 1 to 0 or viceversa (if you want to be always connected: on packet data transmission you pay only for traffic, not for the time of connection, and your line is always free)

Even if You kill activesync after disconnect (I'm using quickmenu to do this) after some minutes activesync starts again.
Anyone has a solution for this?

Crash - Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1749695&postcount=12
AppSentry
AppSentry was made just for this reason. It can kill activesync and other apps on a regular basis. The link is in my signature.
It doesn't require you to run it, it runs itself. And it does not run in background so takes no memeory when it is not running.
solution?
ASyncKiller
This application allows to kill the ActiveSync process when it's in idle state but it just hold in memory...

Disable GPRS/Data and Have WiFi on Demand ONLY [With Solution]

Hi All,
I know we have many tools to achive this like: "NoData" and "TD2 Tools". But I do not want to use these Tools.
They are good tools. NoData will disable Data/GPRS, but Can't make WiFi on demand. When the TD2 Tool can do both (or can give me what I want), but I do not want use this ONLY for this purpose (I am not using other services of this tool).
So This is how I want:
I disable the data connection by Settings -> Connections -> Advanced and select "My Work Network" instead of GPRS/Internet connection. So this prevents me to use the GPRS Connection.
Now Can one of you suggest how should I edit the settings of the "My Work Network" to use WiFi when demand? Or is there any Registry edit that will make WiFi on Demand instead of Connect when phone is used
Edit: For Solution Goto POST#15 in this thread or Here.
Thanks.

If GPRS is disabled, wouldn't it automatically roll over to WiFi?
Set both to Internet and disable GPRS from registry.

Disable/Enable GPRS from registry is tricky than Connection Settings Change. So I will prefer the connection change option.
And reg. Set both to internet.. What does this mean? How can set WiFi to OnDemand? I think on the Stock 6.5.3 Ondemand wifi option is not there like it used to be in 6.5 stock roms. (Like WiFi will be on only if you use it, but in 6.5.3 if you get device to ON mode from standby it activate/connect)

I think if you delete your current modem settings and create a new one w/o any server info, that will permanently disable GPRS and make WiFi your default.
TD2 Tools could set your WiFi on during standby.
Thanks again for reply. I am good with NOT using GPRS. So no worry on that side.
I only need assitance to set/configure WiFi so that it will be used/connected on demand (I dont want this to be connected any time I use my phone).
Note: I dont want WiFi to connect/start when I get my phone from standby to ON state, it should connect to WiFi ONLY When any application connect to Internet.
I hope my question is clear now
Thanks.
Any pointers???
In TD2 Tools 3 there is an option called "WiFi On Demand Service" which should turn on WiFi (if available) instead of GPRS when needed. Unfortunately this feature is disabled with the ROM I'm running, so I don't know if it works..did you try it?
