Must say that using the origami 2.0 and the Origami HOME screen is a real
nice feat for this device.
You can alter the home screen to display "widgets" you want.
Of course, install pocket Reperion , free GPS Tracking software for PDA's, as soon as we have bluetooth access. ( www.reperion.com )
And.. how about the www.mp3car.com software that was built for 800x480 touch screens ? Dunno if they already have a vista version.

How do you do that?
The basis for this thread is pretty simple.
Let’s create a list of ideas that could possibly be turned into xperia panels.
I figured that since the xda forums are pretty much the first place you would go for to get info it would also be a good starting point to initialise ideas for panels.

The YouTube panel for example could be the "YouTube DeskTop Version software" integrated into a xml panel with an ability to choose other popular streams.
My suggestion would be a panel that allows you to remotely control winamp or wmp through bluetooh. There are tons of applications out there that do the job already but it would be awesome to have an acctual dedicated panel for it with maybe 4 big buttons and some track information.
I used to use a program called ControlFreak on my symbian that pretty much turned my phone into a remote control.. I wouldn’t mind having the same type of feel for winmo.
Maybe there will be coders out there who might be interested in turning the top suggestions from this topic into actual panels.
So fire away with your suggestions guys!!! ))
1 A ps3 bluetooth remote panel.
2 A blank panel similar to G-desk on uiq where u can make your own desktop as you wish with as many pages, shortcuts etc as you want.
3 A panel similar to fish panel but more colourful with different creatures.
As has been mentioned on other forums a BBC iPlayer for us UK users would be cool - given that Apple iPhone has one I can't believe they still haven't got a streaming client for WinMo yet....
A panel which has a nicer interface for email (as opposed to the rather drab version under WinMo)....

Ah - for those interested in such things (and I am not) social networking panels i.e. Facebook etc. would actually really push on the phone in terms of popularity and thus attract more developers to the Panels concept....

Yeah, i miss my old G-Desk after leaving UIQ for Xperia.
I also miss a way to reinstall the original panels. I have lost some of them, today panel and media panel, after trying out sbp mobile shell. You can not download them and i dont want to do a reset.
What about a coreplayer panel? Just as a shortcut of the prog, like the media panel, but for the coreplayer.. Or just an DivX panel dunno, but I think a more detailed multimedia panel would be useful.. But I think hard work tough:s greez, cad^^

I think there is a way, look in windows folder, there is some cab's there that could be something, worth trying...
A youtube/online video panel and a facebook panel would be GREAT!
And I really liked Rontysee idea about a blank one where u can do whatever u like =)

Good idea, but there are no cab for MediaExperiencePanel or SonyEricssonPanel.
I had to restore them by restore the registry. Lucky for me that i had a backup.
It is a bit strange that you can not get the original panels from SonyEricsson download.
from what i've been able to see from looking at the sonyE sdk
then it should not be too much trouble porting any pure win32 c++
program into a panel
with .net one may have to make a c++ win32 stub which launch the .net
program in a frame
So who is going to be the first one to make a customized panel thats not official? I bet its going to be one from Xda =)

Developer competition for X1
Hi all, I was pointed to this forum at inxperia.com because of this conversation about panels.
Thought you might like advance warning of a competition for windows mobile developers to build panels for the X1. Winner gets an X1 and their panels installed on the next batch of X1's.

i wish as a panel, the TASKMANAGER DYNAMO. (the xperia panels are not comparable to a taskmanager with screenshot function.like dynomo... *G)
dynamo looks like xperia panels, but it takes actual screenshots of all opened applications, every time you switch the app.
it will integrate perfect to sony`s/htc`s (*G) UI design and will enhance it extremly.
thats, what in xperia`s panels is missing.

AVC = Advanced Video Coding, which is h.264, which is the successor to ASP = Advanced Simple Profile, which is DivX/XviD/... Read the bible
Thus AVC movies are MP4 movies with AVC video content and HE-AAC audio content. Size of a movie is around 250-350mb with excellent quality on the X1's display I'll most likely open a thread somewhen and posting my findings on which settings work best with the X1. Already put hours into that...
G-Alarm is an application with G-Sensor support, it works without the sensor as well, it's not a necessity. The interface is "streched" though, the autor has to make it fit the WVGA screen first.

because we all have different needs for applications and programs on our phones, i was curious to see what everyone has installed and uses most often on your HD2. i myself haven't done much installing, but what i DO have proves to be extremely useful. here's my list and what each program does:
palringo - multi protocol IM program, i had this when i had an HD1...love it
facebook 1.1.0.17 - a deent update to the og app, use this over touch.facebook.com now...
shazam - recognizes nearly any song playing when allowing your phone to 'listen'.
bsb tweaks - many useful tweaks
total commander - use it for registry things and as a better file explorer
gui:
co0kie's home tab - love the 4x4 quick links and the amount you can have
mini hd2 lock screen - haven't tried s2u2 yet, but this is simple and clean
that's about all i have for now. interested to see what other apps, games, and gui tweaks everyone else has. screenshots would be nice, too, if you have them.

for those of you using tcpmp or the core player..how did you guys get them to work? for some reason i tried to dl these files from the open market but they both do not seem to work at all. phone says tcpmp is not compatible or some thing like that.

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634951 to get finger friendly TCPMP, and after installing it go to options and change setting under video to GDI and under orientation change it to left handed. Tap screen for full screen landscape.

The #3 is for CDMA only.
I am looking for the thread with the cab that I used because I don't think it was the one you referred to. The certs are in the cab that I have.

Try this solution and have fun with ur X2
1-install SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.2 from here : part1 - part2
2-install SpbPanel from here
3-remove SPB Mobie Shell and SpbPanel
4-go to panels and remove (PixelCityDayPanel - PixelCityNightPanel - GrowingPanel)
5-restart ur phone

Ok, Do I need to renstall SPB 3.5.2?
Or the key is just to UNINSTALL SPB?
Because I don't need any SPB Panels...

i think youre safe with excluding the SPB dominstry.lol.
i notice it says customisation "R7A" mine says "R8A"
also i have no problem with these either so far..

i have the same version of u(MR1 R1BA023) but the different of customization version R7A - R8A is from language region because i have GENERIC_EN and u i don't know what's ur language region
all people update to MR1 have this problem but now i don't have any of this problem and of ur problems u r say

but I just wanted to be sure I don't have to reinstall SPB 3.5.2.
What I don't have to do, as it seems!
Well after that:
my phone freezed once,
after fiddling with sound settings and exiting the app.
Besides: more stable for sure. And tad faster.
I've reset my x2 to try without the patch .cab, and I don't delete the growing and city's panel.
So the bug come from the SPB Panel and mobile Shell
(sorry for bad english )

I have the backlight bug (when charging, the backlight doesn't change
until I go to settings, than it immediately reacts).
I also had one freeze already.

in tcmcp when i change video to DirectDraw my phone freezed maybe this from the tcmcp because X2 don't use the DirectDraw fine

maybe the backlight not change when u use "Auto Adjust backlight" and with me when i change from auto to manual it's not freeze (try an update and install MR1 again and try to remove the panels mentioned)

Well I have no idea what DirectDraw is and what does it have to do with freeze with system sound settings?
Also, I NEVER use Auto Adjust with backlight
and always manual, so it's not the problem here....

This crap still freezes.
Like it was before.
The solution doesn't work at all.
Freezes are maybe more rare but still occur.
I only use SE TileWave panel.
Removed Spb, Pixel City and Growing...
This is ************* piece of junk.
WMPowerusers already posted problems with X2.
I will continue spreading this info around.
I won't let it go. This is complete crap.

Ok on my device I found a first pattern when X2 freezes always!
Be on Tilewave Panel.
Turn to Landscape.
Press battery icon to go to power settings.
When in the power settings check everything.
Than press OK.
It comes back to TileWave Panel.
Repeat the thing few times.
Freeze!
EACH TIME!!!!!

well if that always happens then its definately the X2's fault, because i just tried it on the X1 with Jerpelea's X2 Port ROM and there was no freeze
Well of course.....
Contrary to previous posts,
I have a suspicion that the TileWave Panel is buggy.
Right now I'm testing the device using ONLY WM default Homescreen.
The result of using X2 only with standard WM Homescreen
is that it doesn't freeze.
But has already lost the connection with memory card once.
I will check tomorrow with another memory card..
someone mentioned "sms_lag_fix" where can i get that?? or is that just the fix where you delete the word "count"?

ok work with the standard WM homescreen like me and chose ur today items(resco today, spb weather, etc....)

But it doesn't change the fact X2 keeps loosing memory card connection.

The product is basically faulty.
