watch tv anywhere :) - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

hi people
i just searched for this to see if anyone has done this
i have been watching my satelite on my xda stellar fo a few months now thought i would share how easy it is
all you need is firstly a good upload speed mine is 1.6 meg but 400-500kbs
would work
a tv card with compisite in ( signal from satelite )
audio in (audio from satelite ) rca phono lead to 3.5 jack plug earphones socket
windows media encoder if you have not got it its here
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx
if anyone is intrested i would gladly tell you the rest of it but really this is all you need
for copyright reasons i cant show you my satelite but if you want to check out my fish pond type in this url mms://www.d4rea.co.uk:2976
or on your phone its the same address but as with all of these streams to a phone you must type a /* on the end of the url
so it would be mms://www.d4rea.co.uk:2976/* and it starts streaming on your phone
ENJOY

I can't. it doesn 't like my onboard TV tuner.

Seems like a great idea.
But my Upload speed is limited and slow, and my Mobile Internet too.
So...I can't do this.
Though I'm interested knowing the rest of your story

I have tried orb long long time ago, had and used a slingbox but that is why i thought i`m doing this myself
my satalite has its own web interface on so i log in to my ip anywhere to switch channels over but it then still streams through wm encoder at a much reduced bandwith i have o2 20 meg broadband home and at work so i encode wm encoder to upload 1.3mb ps and watch whatever on work pc and 300kbs upload goes to my xda stellar

Streaming video

Is it possible to stream video via an XDA Mini S?
I want to link up my video camera to my xda and stream video from a moving vehicle to the web (about 20 minutes). Am I just fantasising or is it feasible ? I can link the xda and the camera by some sort of usb cable, but I also have bluetooth on the camera (not very likely for video though).
TIA, DBo.
this might be possable via WiFi but i doubt GPRS or Edge would support speeds that would give u any decent results. that is if u can figure out how to input the vid stream into the wizzard. and would love to know if u find out how!
Over a super slow GPRS uplink? I doubt it some how!
Even if it was posible, which it may techically well be, the quality would have to be so amazingly low quality it would be pointless.

Try Orb, quite ok results

Thanks for the input. I don't think I've got any chance of a 'truly' mobile solution (although it would be great). I think I'd end up with a wireless sender from the camera in the car to a trackside server with a wifi uplink. Oh well, it was a nice idea. maybe if I had a 3G phone ? I could strap it on to the rollbar and start a video call. Hmmm...

Stream music from computer to phone

Is there a program that I can use to stream music from my computer to my 8125 using GPRS and WiFi? I would like to listen to it everywhere without buying 15 cards.
http://www.orb.com/
i have even successfully streamed audio using Orb over gprs! lucky i have free gprs!
another vote for Orb.
It makes it simple to stream music and videos to your phone.
Mercora M has performed better for me. It costs, but if you go to Microsoft.com you can get a 6 month free trial. It includes internet radio too.
I'm going to try Mercora M because Orb wasn't letting me stream over GPRS for some reason.
I get the "session not valid" message.
I'ma try Mercora M and get back to ya.
I would totally say go with Orb. If your GPRS is not letting you connect, I would suggest trying with a different Mobile Browser (for example, Opera worked for me where Pocket IE did not).
Just a thought
i love orb... dont us GPRS b/c its not free for me.. but i use wifi and I even stream TV from my ati 550 pcie tuner cards in my media server..
i love watching baseball on my 8125
I could never get Orb to go over GPRS. I'm sure it works great on Wifi. I also had trouble getting it to fidn my removable hard drive (all my music is on that). I gave up, downloaded Mecora M and it works great. It's sad that it costs money but I'm hoping someone out there will help me with that...
For wi-fi i use resco explorer to stream music and video. All i do is share my folders and network map my drives in resco. Install tcmp and it will even play divx! Music is not a problem either works a dream. Next i will look into streaming over GPRS but not sure my t-mobile connection is reliable enough.

Slingbox Mobile TV opinions/sugestions

This is the first time posting so bare with me. I have Slingbox Pro at home and since I purchased my new HTC Sprint Touch Diamond I have been trying Slingbox Mobile. I am still tweaking settings and testing but currently I find video streaming a bit slow but audio OK! Have not tried WI FI yet. Has anyone else been using Slingbox Mobile? Would like to know your tweaks, settings etc... on improving video quality.
Thanks
Sprint HTC Touch Diamond DIAM 500
ROM - 1.09.651.5
Radio -1.00.00F
OS - Windows Mobile 6.1
I have been using it for a while, though I am not sure I have figured out the optimum settings, it is working pretty well over wifi but a little jumpy in fullscreen.
These are my settings:
Player: Buffer setings-manual
Optimization:Enable slingstream optimizer
Enable fast start
Encoding:Enable sling stream optimization X
Video Bitrate 250
Video FPS 20
I-Frame interval 5
Video rseolution 320x240
Audio: Stereo low
advanced: no alert
no stats
reconnect
X=exit
no audio video offset
Use GDI Rendering
On the whole I am pretty pleased with it, but mainly because it turns my laptop into a TV, the mobile software does leave a lot to be desired, especially since they make you pay on top for the mobile software, that is taking the piss on an already expensive piece of kit.
Thanks for the reply post... I have been using Slingbox Pro and my son also who is in Germany has been using it and we both agree that the video and audio quality is great. I have SprintTV as well as DiamondTV which are OK but nothing like having my own DishNetwork TV programs. I am thinking of purchasing the Slingbox Mobile software. It's only $29.99... What's a few more $$$$ anyway. LOL! Again thanks....
I use Slingbox Mobile too. I paid for it because to it's worth a one-time fee of 30 bucks to be able to stream my tv to my phone with full control. I'm aware of Orb as a free alternative but it's way too bulky and resource intensive. Slingbox definitely beats it.
I have not touched any settings at all in Slingbox Mobile. Everything is default. I stream over 3G data and I think the picture looks great and the sound is great. I hope they update the Mobile app soon to have some of the functionality that the latest Desktop version has (DVR buffer, and Guide data). Overall, it's my favorite app on my Diamond.
I also am very happy with my Slingbox (Pro in my case) with my Tilt. I use it with the my recently acquired Motorola S9/S9-HD bluetooth headset and I have to say it GREAT. Highly recommend the wireless headset to go with you slingbox. The older S9's can be found on ebay for under $40, just watch out for knock offs from China.
I've been using the Slingbox Mobile software too and I've found the picture and audio to be fine most of the time. The only problem I have is that my upload speed via my broadband is terrible (thanks BT) so it sometimes struggles. When I use it at home it's fine though.

Stream Video over Wifi

Hi Guys,
Not 100% sure this is the correct forum, but feel free to move me if its not
I am currently working on a small project, which as a added extra I would like to stream video to my pc from my Winmo device. So far I have found Qik and ustream, but at best it has a 3 second delay, and these stream to their servers and then output on the webpage. Is there a way to stream the video from my touch pro to the computer, by either wifi, or bluetooth (as i am trying to reduce the delay to 1 second)
Thanks in advance,
Hellios

i need help with my wireless-please help-I gave up

Hey guys
First i want to explain the problem, which is something that really bothers me alot. I have a wireless connection at home, which is in the living room, which is about 14 meters away from my office room in the house.
Now the problem is I noticed that whenever I want to listen to a streaming radio station the stream keeps disconnecting, like maybe 5 times/minute. It really bothers me, since I like to lsiten to the radio while I work, and this issue has been since I bought the deivce. I tried all the best streaming player, itunes, vlc, real player, winamp. All the players keep disconneting after few seconds. Sometimes I notice that the wireless connection is lost on the shift only while on my other computer in the living room it is not. Sometimes the wireless is on and the streaming keeps disconnecting. I did a driver update for the wireless but still the same problem.
I checked if I take one of my dell laptops to the office room, listeing to the radio stations is fine with not interruptions at all, so why is it that the shift has the interruption problem while listening to streaming radio, while other laptops do not have this problem.
Please please help
Thanks
First ensure that you are running on High Performance (so wireless is not going in powersave mode)
Then try to increase the buffer size on your player..
Let me know
i am on high performance,
Can I ask a silly question how can I increase the buffer size of for example itunes, or vlc, or window media player
thanks so much in advance

Have you updated all VISA Drivers to latest verison from HTC Shift Support site ?
There are new drivers which are available on HTC SHIFT Website for VISTA,
Please update drivers (ALL of them, specially chipset driver and WIFI driver) and check if it resolves the issue.
