blank screen mda vario II (hermes 300) - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have flash the new rom from t mobile.... after I flash from wm5 to wm6 which complete.... it cant boot anymore... even I have taken out the battery and out it back ..... i press power button no response.... nothing can be seen from the screen.... im afraid it is dead as good....

Take battery out and connect to power. If you see a red light where it lights up to show its charging then the hardware is OK.
Try with battery and see if it charges. NO LED means battery dead.
Need to know if the hardware is COMPLETELY dead or if the battery is the culprit.
If everything is ok and you just need to replace the battery then read this for a safety net while flashing - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
Cheers...

im able to see the red light if i did not put in battery and i have another unit battery which is workable and when i put in also no resposne.

Sounds like battery contacts may be broken or cracked. Might be unfixable. Usually happens after a drop... You could try to re solder the contacts but no guarantees.

the pda was not drop before....

Are you charging with the original charger or USB/3rd party charger?
Did you let the battery go under 10% charge?
If you are charging without the original charger or with the usb cable it may not be getting the correct voltage which may be confusing the internal charging sensor.
This may also happen if you let your battery go below the 10% mark frequently.
There are a few threads about this so I'll let you search for them. Good luck.
I don't believe it would be the internal fuse as the red LED shouldn't turn on if this was blown.
Cheers...

This happened to me too with a regular, unlocked HTC TyTN (not the MDA Vario II from T-Mobile). Fortunately, after about two days, while I thought the handset is "dead", I tried to turn it on again and it worked, just like that. Weird

Dead magician...? Red light!

Hi all,
Need som urgent help. The backcover of my device is not fitting well any longer. Guess I´ve bumped it to many times...
As a result (Iguess) I cant turn on or even charge my magician!
The only thing that is happening when I try to charge is that a red light is turned on. What does this mean?
Any solution of how to get it work again?
Is it possible to buy a new back-cover? Live in Sweden.
Thankful for some ideas!
Regards Emil
Most probably the notch on the battery cover that hits the microswitch lever has broken. You will find the microswitch on the lower-right corner of the device when facing down. Put something soft but strong enough (ie. foam) to keep the microswitch in the ON postion then mount the battery cover and temporarily fix it with tape. Be sure to keep your device plugged in via USB or charger in order not to totally discharge the backup battery. If the backup battery gets depleated, then it's like doing a hard reset.
You can buy parts from ebay but I've always bought from Brando and is very reliable dealer (shop.brando.com.hk). Delivery is quite fast too.
Hi Zerimar and thanks for your answer!
Unfortunately that didn´t do the trick. Still the same red light when trying to charge. And I can´t turn it on! I am pretty sure that the battery is flat out by now but even so I would think it would load and then after a while, I would be able to turn it on.
Am really frustrated abt this!
Any more ideas maybe?!?
Regards Emil
u'd better send it to service...

Well, that´s what I´m trying to get around... Thats why I´m hanging around here
If have have my device charged via USB or charger, the LED becomes as soon as I remove the battery cover. If I hit the microswitch lever then the LED turns green and start to boot up. If main battery is removed the LED stays red even though hitting the microswitch's lever.
It looks like it's not charging your main battery or your battery is already defective. If your device is over a year old and you're still using the same battery, then its time to change it. Bulges in a battery is a sign that it needs replacement.
Before sending your device for repair, why not look for someone you know who also has a Magician or equivalent device and quickly borrow his/her battery?
I had red LED when plugging into a main charger - and then the phone reset.
Red LED + loop booting-poweroff = dead battery
If the LED is RED when you charge your device for hours
If the device tries to boot sometimes, but powers off by itself some minutes after (it means, at least, that your device CAN boot! )
Your battery may be dead, I bought a new one for 10Euros on ebay...
Those batteries are perfectly compatible with HTC Prophet or HTC Beetles (Ipaq 6515) and maybe other devices... easy to find!

very dead exec

Having not use my exec for a bout a month I now find it will not start or take a charge (battery has 3.8v ) but it will not power up ,it is still in warranty BUT I have changed the rom ,so don’t know if o2 will repair it
If I use the wall charger a LED flashes on for about 1 second ,if I plug in to usb lead on pc (with battery removed) red led comes on any ideas appreciated

Problem indeed.... Firstly, I wish I could offer some constructive solutions, but afraid not.... it does sound like a worn battery, and maybe worth trying (or borrowing) another one to flash?
I take it as you refer to it as an 'Exec' that it is the O2 branded one? If it is, from my experience with the O2 technical support, they really don't have a clue. I would assume that they would send an exec straight to HTC for testing. It's a complete last resort, but if you were to tell them that your unit was dead and they were to take it in, they wouldn't be able to solve the problem before they sent it back to HTC. This is of course after you have clarified it's not just a dead battery cell.
Best of luck with the thread and hoping someone a bit more experienced can help.
So, let me get this straight, your universal does not turn on (and by turn on I mean that you see the familiar wm5 screen with your apps, etc.), no matter what have you done, and the only way to have the charging led on is by connecting it to USB port with the battery removed?
If this is the case, you might have a dead internal battery charging/power supply circuit, i have repaired some old Ipaqs with this failure, most of them failed due to a defective battery, easily recognized by overheating when the unit was placed in charge, usually the overheating increased slowly in time (months usually).
I don't want to be misunderstood, but all these devices have a way of turning of the LCD backlight, a long pressure on the on button does this, it can restores with the same long pressure, see if this is not your case.
If you have some electrical problem with your PDA you might take it to repair or you could try to do it yourself -if you're able to do it obviously-.
Anyway, try to get yourself another battery (you might ask for it to someone else with a uni), put it on and see.
I'm also assuming that you have tried to hard reset your device.
good luck

Look maybe this will give you some hope. Yesterday I took my Htc Typhon (smartphone) after a long time, the battery was die. I tried to charge via usb, and nothings happened, then I tried to use a usb charger and nothing happened neither. Finally I charged the battery alone on an universal battery charger and after 30 minutes my phone was alive again.
Hope it will help you!

hi thanks for the reply i have had the same on a m600 ,would not charge from usb or car kit but did start with mains charger
i have tryed hard reset but it will not do that either
battery is stuck at 3.7v even after trying to discharge it with a small bulb
thanks
John...
This is something I've had happen in the past.
Try taking the battery out, and put it into a ziplock back, and place it in the freezer for a few hours. I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous. But sometimes, just sometimes, it will reactivate the cells, and you'll be able to charge it after that.
well done o2 uk
well as said before took my phone back to the O2 shop and sent it off to the service centre. The report came back that the main board US .not only did i get a new exec but But a new boxed one and a full set of all original parts !!
i had this problem when i first got my SPV m5000..i took it to the orange shop...(the people where nice) they kept it for few testing and said...
battary was faulty...so they gave me a new battery XD

Charmer wont turn on

this is my firends phone - tmobile cmpact 2 - its never been cooked, standard wm5 rom and no upgrades or downloads. it suddenyl today entered bootload screen - we took out the battery restarted, then it loads to the tmobile splash screen the cuts off, now it wont even turn on
tried charging it, and the charge light doesnt ocm eon, any ideas??
Thanks
anyone?..........................................
You have to enter bootloader mode (look up the wiki for how to) and then run the official rom upgrade for charmer.
my charmer is also dead
right in the middle of typing in an adress at iGO on my Charmer with WM5 it started rebooting and turned black after the T-Mobile bootscreen. And I could only turn it on by removing the battery, waiting for some minutes and then turning on again, just to see the same thing happening - black after T-Mobile screen.
Now I cannot turn it on at all, cannot reset (neither hard nor soft), cannot get into bootloader nor can I charge it (at least no LED is indicating anything).
Does anybody have an idea? vlodeck?
At the moment I am not at home, so I cann't try the original power supply (so far I used the one in the car).
Thanks in advance!
There are two possible outcomes Jared.
Either your power supply in the car is not enough to lift up Charmer.
Or your battery went totally dead, in which case you would have to buy a new battery.
Good luck.
Thanks for the fast support!
the strange thing is, that it all started with battery at about 80%...
I will check on sunday with the original power supply and a battery from another device. Then I will let you know the outcome.
I can lend you my battery, Jared!
...to see if it is really the battery.
Otherwise I can only recommend the HTC Kaiser ;-)
problem solved for now
thanks frikibaby for the offer...
but vlodeck was right. At home I pluged in the charger and it started charging and I can also turn it on again. So for some reason my car charger does not charge the charmer anymore although the indicator and the battery bar says so ...???
Thanks for the support!!

the death of a qtek 9090

Hi! i've bought an used Qtek 9090. the problem is that this Qtek don't power on! it doesn't go on bootloader mode, doesn't go on hard reset ecc... but when i charge it, the red led turns on!
what can i do? please help me
well try to charge the battery only in the cradle
if this not help try to borrow working battery from someone, if your device does not start even with working battery then you are screwed (a hardware problem of some kind)
no i think the battery is ok.
there is a way to restore the bootloader? i've read about the jtag, but i don't know anything... can you explain?
Battery is charging only when the LED is orange/amber. Red means problems with charging - that's why xplode proposed putting the baterry directly in the cradle, as it can "fix" the battery.
Well the red light means there is problem, the most comon problem is the battery, but the red light is also shown with motherboard, bootloader, kernel, and other problems
one more option is there. if the battery is not charged from a long time it needs a shock before recharging to activate the electrons. u should apply some 12v at 1 or 1.5 amp for 15-30 sec. than battery will get a little charge which is sufficient to turn on the phone once.................... but do not apply this voltage regularly or for long time.

hi! help! my hermes suddenly "died?"

hi! i have a dopod 838 pro. and it suddenly cant turn on. i was just texting then it went buggy (hanging up) then i did a soft reset then all of a sudden it didnt turn on. i was charging it at that time.
the phone never got wet, was never dropped. i installed the official wm 6.1 rom and it had been running for more than two weeks so i dont think the problem was the ROM. battery is good since i still get two days of battery.
i have tried hard resets, used the usb connector to power the phone up. havent tried another battery though. is there any way i can diagnose the problem before spending for diagnostics in the shop?
this was an observation: when i remove the battery and connect it to the charger, LED is red then it disappears when i replace the battery. no amber going. how do i test if the problem is in the battery? battery connector? power? or (please i pray not) the motherboard itself?
a little help please! more power to this forum. thanks!
gab
Would suspect the battery... Red LED WOULDN'T turn on if this was a hardware problem, broken battery connectors and such. However, if you install the battery when the red LED is visible (connected to charger without battery) & it doesn't turn amber (charging) then I'd suspect the battery has died.
Take in to a shop and ask to try a battery, easier if you know someone with the same phone.
Cheers...
i have it sent to the authorized htc center here in our area. the technician tried using another battery but still it didnt work. my phone will be left at the shop for about 4 to 5 days for diagnostics. the technician said that theres a possibility that this may be a motherboad problem like the board short circuited.
but how come? how can this happen?
can anyon confirm that this is a motherboard problem? awh! cant wait for the result of the diagnostics.
thanks!
