[SOLVED - but still have a question] HELP!!! ESN Swap needs to be finished!! - Mogul, XV6800 General

I recently purchased a used Sprint Mogul on eBay... the seller didn't write much about the phone other than it works and it's missing the charger... i had a charger for PPC's from my Excalibur so it was no big deal...
I got the phone, it turns on and functions, and the ESN is clean!! (YAY! ) Also, it's already been flashed to Windows Mobile 6.1 (YAY!!! )
I called Sprint to have the ESN swap done and a number port from T-Mobile to Sprint... they initiated the ESN Swap and the number port at the same time. The port actually took place almost immediately. My T-Mobile "Dash"'s SIM card no longer registers on their network.
The problem is that the member care person told me to put in a code ( ##443235# ) and then select "Edit" and then "Ok" ... and from what I've read, the LAST pound isn't supposed to show up, it's supposed to redirect to a menu screen with 3 choices. This doesn't occur!! it types it in like a phone number!!
Now I have 2 phones, and neither one works. Somebody PLEASE help me, I know I can't possibly be the only person on the internet having this issue, but it sure seems like it because Google is vast and "#" isn't a search engine-friendly character
HELP!!

nevermind, i found the "EPST" file in the windows directory... can somebody explain to me what "EPST" is, and what ##778# does exactly on the Sprint network??

WoW, didn't know you could get a sim card with two providers on it. My friend got this knockoff iPhone a while ago. Was a really bad knockoff. So bad that the warning label on the back of the phone (where it stated that only apple can use THIS apple logo) was mispelt (lol) waring. Anways back to the original point, the cheap knockoff allowed you to put in two sim cards at once. I can't wait for someone to implement this feature into a windows phone so you can use 'em both at one time. Very useful for us canadians who don't want to shell out a thick wad of cash to use the internet, and would like to use a second sim card for a data connection.
hey
dont mean to thread jack, but can do the reverse? get 2 sim cards with the same info? i love my wing, but for work i need a regular phone. one that is simple, and able to make calls asap.. instead of unlocking, entering a pw and pressing the grn button and than fumbling with the touch screen.. for work i need to be able to flip the phone open with one hand and call emergency numbers as fast as possible, so for work i take my sim card out and put it in a reg tmo phone.. would love to be able to use both phone with 2 diff sims.
any 1 know if its possible?
i know its possible in the netherlands (also t mobile) here its called something like "sim duo" better ask your provider

Should be able to do it with no legal issues, I would think (if you're in the US).
Back in the day (12 - 15 years ago), phones were easily purchased with dual-nams (I had one from Motorola), which is how multiple phone numbers were assigned to a single device before the advent of SIM cards, device locking, long term contracts, etc.
You can get a dual-sim adapter from a couple of companies, but here's a link to one that has several types and lists their compatibility with various phones:
http://www.simore.ch/en/
I used a dual sim adapter briefly in a QTEK. It sucked.
If memory serves network locking is about to become illegal here in UK so I imagine dual sim kit will really take off here shortly.

NOOB - T-Mobile UK HD2 unlocked - no O2 connection..

Hi guys.
Really sorry about this but I am at the end of my tether with this!
I run my own IT support company and one of the things I do most is Blackberry and iPhone Exchange email syncing. While both of those work brilliantly, I have had users having loads of issues getting their Windows Mobile devices working easily. Luckliy only one or 2 have these devices but more are asking....
I resorted to retiring my Bold 9000 and got a brand new sealed HD2 on the UK T-Mobile network today. First thing I did was get a sim unlock code and that went through first time (using my working o2 SIM from my BB). However, I couldn't make calls so after I spoke to o2 I got in to the Phone, Network settings and with the Network selection on auto, the preferred networks list was blank. Clicking the preferred networks button brings up the list of preferred networks, ticked o2 - UK and ok'd it. Goes back to main network screen and still blank. Clicking Find Network then brings up cannot register on selected network.
Changing automatic network selection to manual, selecting )2 - UK and ok'ing that brings up the same 'cannot register on selected network error. So, after coming here, I stuck on the HSPL 1.42, then upgraded to RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
That went on fine and after wiping to factory to make sure I sent through the set up. Same errors and still can't make receive calls.
Stuck on the 2.08 hspl for the hell of it then upgraded to RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship
Guess what? Exact same problems! I spoke to o2 support and they were pretty useless. Explained that it was sim unlocked and on a generic firmware. They said that T-Mobile do something weird with the HTC and I should try calling HTC tech support, who are now closed...... I am not sure HTC will be of any help anyway as I can't exactly go telling them I have stuck on the HSPL and a non-approved firmware for what was the originall carrier!
Help please anybody?? I have googled and googled but haven't found anyone with the same problem, I might be being blind. BTW, what I guess is the antenna icon has an exclamation next to it
Thanks,
Nick
Quick update. Housemate got back so I nicked the Vodafone UK sim from his iPhone and stuck that in the HD2. Same problem, won't register on Vodafone either. Anyone?
Got annoyed. changed the SPL back to the standard 1.42. Installed the latest T-Mobile official firmware. Same problems. Do I have the only HD2 ever to be doing this? . I don't have a T-Mobile sim to hand and the nearest store is miles away sadly.
Does your phone app not work at all ?
How do you know unlock code worked ? so far every sim you tried has failed.
Where did you get the unlocking code from ?
How did you use it ? meaning how did you input it ?
Verdict so far, if a t-mobile sim card works then unlock was a fail !
Ok referring to your network selection, for the UK, you should have it set to Automatic, it will then use the network associated with your sim.
referring to your call problem, does the phone still work with the original t-mobile sim?
if so it sounds like your unlock code didnt work.
if your phone no longer works with the original t-mobile, I should think something has gone wrong with the radio software you have installed on the phone. Try going back to the stock htc/radio rom. If that doesnt work then the phone probably needs to go back to t-mobile for repair, at this point you tell them "it just stopped working"
have you tried to run the connection setup wizard?
settings - menu - all settings - connections - connection setup
if there isn't one, connectionsetup is available as a cab.
Hi guys. It was a brand neww, sealed box HD2, but from T-Mobile. No SIM with it at all or I would have been trying that too of course .
Regarding how I unlocked it. I paid an ebay seller to give me an unlock code. When I fist put on 02 SIM in the phone it wafffled on about being network locked basically and had a field to enter the unlock code. Entered the code given to me via the Ebay unlocker and never got that message again on the screen. Is that wrong somehow?
Manual network, auto network, selecting carrier etc all of them make no difference. I am off out now but have found a local store with PAYG T-Mobile sims in stock so will grab 1 later today and see what happens then.
Will update/bore you all later!
Cheers,
Nick
Right, case closed. I got the T-Mobile sim and stuck it in. Showed up with T-Mobile on the scren and a good strength signal. Tried to make a call, dropped back to the home screen almost straight away. I had full data access though. Spoke to T-Mobile who informed me that my brand new, sealed box HD2 was blacklisted and I could do nothing with it!
Vodafone and O2 just flat out don't let you register the handset on their network if is it blacklisted it would seem.
Contacted the seller and he has arranged a refund, but the refund is showing as 'pending' so I am not going to return the phone until I see it physically in my account.
I have to be honest and say that this is actually a good thing as despite HTC doing all they can to make the Win 6.5 on there look less dog-like, the overall UI is still pretty awful. Now,this phone with Android 2.1 on it might be a dfferent matter! Back on my Bold 9000 for now......
Cheers,
Nick.
I am sorry to hear about that, looks like to you got hit by some sort of scam, probably resealed a second hand or refurbished unit into an original box and sold it as new.
regarding the UI of the htc devices, I am not really sure why you think this, htc hd2 uses htc sense which is the same ui as on the android htc phones. The only windows mobile thing you should really see is the start menu which has been praised as being a very good replacement for the old start menu. even all the settings windows are run through the htc sense ui so i am really not sure what you are complaining about :S
If you dislike the top bar/bottom soft buttons, there have been a lot of modifications to these in more recent hd2 roms, maybe you should to take a look at the roms section to see some pics.

Mogul ESN HELP!

I just bought an Sprint Htc mogul off of ebay. It was a good $30 bucks cheaper than a Verizon Mogul. WORST regret of my life. I thought I could just buy it, unlock it (which I did), and write the ESN (I have been spending hours on end trying to do this). I REALLY need help changing the esn to another phone, because Im going on vacation in about a week, and I dont have time to purchase another phone off of Ebay. My goal is to get this phone working on the Verizon Network. I have tried using CDMA workshop to change the esn, no luck, even after entering the correct SPC. I have tried to use CDMA workshop on another computer to and it still doesnt work. Other things ive tried to do: use QXDM to try to change the esn in the NV browser but it wont let me because its read only, I have tried to use EFS explorer to also get into the NVM folder and change the ESN, AND i've probabley tried to do something else I cant remember. PLEASE help if you can ,I need this working by next week. I know esn changing is usually illegal, but not in this case as I own the smartphone I want to clone, and I do not plan to do anything bad with this. Thank You
-Dany
NVM, got it working. Previously cdma workshop gave me an annoying Failed To change Esn error. But I supercid'ed it using mtty and WINDOWS XP - NOT vista, and after that using cdmaworkshop I succesfully changed the esn.
Move to general as not rom development
bought cdma workshop nov. 2011, free upgrade until nov. 2012. interested in transfering the license to you please leave a private message

[Q] HELP !!!

Im having a big issue (maybe small for you techs out there)... I found a nexus 4, it was all beat up and cracked... i did contact the owner, but he said that it was too much money to fix it... I paid 200 bucks to fix it and now it looks like new... the person that had it had service with t-mobile (as i do), ... but the phone wont work with them on their network. I even replaced the sim card thinking it was mine that was bad. The phone says emergency calls only (making me think maybe it was blocked)... I paid for a code which i have not been able to input because i can even get it to go to the screen to put it... i tried to do a hard reset and nothing, tried this three methods send by the company i bought the code from
Method #1 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press 2945#*model number#. For example, if you have an LG Prada P940 you enter 2945#*940# or if you have an LG Optimus L3 E400 you enter 2945#*400#
Method #2 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: 2945#*71001# Once prompt for the code enter the unlocking code you received from us.
Method #3 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: *#865625#
and nothing has worked so far. I called TMobile again and they told me the phone was blocked by them, and supposedly since it was a prepaid line they requested it for the IMEI to be taken off their blocked list, and that it was going to be from 24-48 hours before the phone would work...
now for the weird part, just to try something out i put my daughter's ATT sim card in it, and voila, the phone works perfectly fine without even unlocking it... makes calls, access internet, etc...
can someone tell me what the heck is wrong with the phone??
The phone is factory unlocked.. Not sure why you bought an unlock code. Or why someone sold one.
Sent from my Nexus 4
It's still blocked on T-Mobile. Call them again.
QUOTE=myturbo1;39907855]The phone is factory unlocked.. Not sure why you bought an unlock code. Or why someone sold one.

Thats what i thought too , but for some reason it does not work for Tmobile and it works for att
nothings wrong with the phone, its doing just what its supposed to. its your research about it thats a little off. someone blocked the phones imei with tmobile, so you dont get service. also, the phone is a pentaband, so itll work with most, if not all, gsm carriers. att being one of them. since the imei was blocked at tmobile, not att, it still works with att radio band.
im actually calling tmobile again as i type... i dont understand why a blocked was put on this IMEI... when i talked to the previous owner of the phone he told me he never report it damage or lost because it was a prepaid plan, and that he anyways had decided to get an iphone (suckss)

[SOLVED] Total Wireless (Verizon MVNO) - New Phone / Same SIM

I am switching from my old Nexus 6 to a brand new Moto G5 Plus. I am with the carrier Total Wireless which is a Verizon MVNO. Their cellular service and pricing is excellent. Their CSRs are low functioning. What I want to know is if I can just pop out the SIM from my old phone and put it into my new one without any issues. They both take the same size SIM and they're both compatible with Verizon. I won't have to buy a new SIM card or anything like that, will I? I ask because a CSR told me that the SIM cannot be removed and is part of the phone so I would have to buy a new one. Yeah...I know. It was painful. I just left the chat. Thanks in advance for the help!

As long as sim is not locked then you should be able to put it in the g5+, log in to your total wireless account on WiFi and input your IMEI or MEID (which ever is longer) into your account for that SIM, and boom your rocking. You might not even have to do all that sometimes popping the SIM in just works.

OK, cool. Thanks! Do you have experience with this? I ask because I have not seen anywhere on the website where I can edit the existing IMEI in my account. All I see is their Compatibility Checker.
Sorry I just assumed, not helpful I know that's just how it's been for me with other. Carriers. Sorry about to bad answer. Sounds like they must lock the SIM to the phone.

According to that you can just pop in the Card though.

Well, I do appreciate the effort! That's more than I could find. When my new Moto G5 Plus comes in I'll pop my existing SIM in and go from there. I figure if it doesn't work I'll just play stupid, tell them my phone was working then all of a sudden it isn't and make them fix it. Worst comes to worst, I have to buy a new SIM for a dollar or whatever. Thanks again! I'll report back here with the conclusion
I bought a new unlocked phone for Total Wireless but it used a different SIM size. Once I put the new sim card in the new phone, I logged into my Total Wireless account online, clicked the upgrade to new device and went through the steps. Once I completed that I powered up the new device and it worked.
Hope this helps in some way.

Log into your account. It should be at the account options screen. If not, click on link to the left.
Once that comes up, click on view details. It should list your phone. Over to the right it should give you the option to upgrade the device.
If it doesn't then something is most likely wrong with the account and you'll need to get in touch with Customer Service.

Can you post a screenshot or something? Nothing you're saying is even remotely on this site. Are we talking about the same company?! Also, I just got a hold of them and now they are demanding I buy a new SIM card because apparently I can't transfer service to a new phone. That makes ZERO sense. Do you have to be UNDER a certain IQ to work for this company or what?!
So the verdict is in. With Total Wireless you CAN pop out the SIM from your old phone and put it into your new one BUT...there is an issue. The old phone's IMEI stays associated with the SIM you just put into your new phone. That will never be an issue should you just put the phone into the "old phone drawer" but it MAY become an issue if you sell or give away your phone to be used with Verizon or another Verizon MVNO. From what I gather, that IMEI will show as in use and not allow another user to register it with a new SIM. Will it matter if you go with AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc...? I'm unsure but from what I gather, I doubt it. The really dumb part about this whole thing is Total Wireless's unwillingness to just unregister the old IMEI from your current SIM and register a new one. From speaking to a Verizon representative this is totally possible but Total Wireless refuses to do it. Instead they demand you buy a new SIM card. I assume this is from complete ignorance as their CSRs are almost completely inept. It's the best "bang for your buck" company to go with when you want / need Verizon service but if you need help...may the force be with you. Put it this way...They didn't even know what an APN was and insisted it was only a single word long (not even the right word).
I have two Moto G5 Plus's that I bought from Best Buy on the same day at the same time. I checked both IMEIs about 2 months ago to see if they were compatible both where. Now that my auto for ATT Gophone got turned off in time bought the CDMA sim kit. I went online to activate. Total Wireless said one is compatible and one is not. I called customer support and talked to a supervisor still got same thing. Was told if the phone wasnt activated on VZW then it would be unable to work. I told her both have been on ATT since day one. WTF! So looks like I am staying with ATT.
