the bitmap gfx in the ui is only 320x240,
but the text is clear 640x480.
the map is 640x480 ultra sharp, too.
i rode that 640x480 bitmap gfx will not released by the manufacturer in the next time.
but a gfx kiddy (theme freak) can skin the grafix located in the data.zip, and save it to
data.zip/ui_igo8/480_640
(i hope. it is the logical result of the infrastructure of the data.zip)
but its a o lot of pixeling ))

Yep. Maps ar clear as hell. a lot sharper than tomtom7

Yep.. Looks a lot sharper.
Personally, I removed the VGA=1 string. This makes the display buildup a little too slow to my liking.. Otherwise, Nice!

sdcardpath="\Internal Storage" is right not INTERAL

igo8 doesn't work on my diamond. installed an copied the "new" sys.txt for sharp solution but igo doesn't start.

Are you using the newest version 41xxx? The older ones don't work on the Diamond.

i don't know what version i have. where can i get the new version? on the homepage i haven't found anything

Where did you remove the vga string?? is it in the reg? also not in my sys file. i just cant find it

iGO8 runs nicely on my Diamond - but it refuses to find any GPS satellites. Used autodetection to locate phone's internal GPS and that worked fine, but either the GPS is not working or iGO8 doesn't really talk to it, despite claiming otherwise. Spent some 15 minutes on the yard just now, waiting for the phone to find some satellites, but no luck.

Doesn't matter what GPS software you use in Diamond...the problem will be always the same: Lagging!
And I still haven't sorted out if it's because of GPS driver or because of VGA driver...or both...
But navigation with Diamond is becoming a head-ache...
HastaSSSS

Can anybody post some screenshots of IGO8 with these settings?

is there a way to apply this VGA resolution on a portrait look of IGO...
i use my Diamond in a CarHolder in Portrait mode...
so...?anyone?!
i tried editing Landscape to Portrait, but that was just to eazy...

These settings are AMAZING!!!
Unbelievable difference, Igo8 owe you big time!
As for lagging, I do not notice it much, I am using rom 360v2, a cleaned out stock rom.

by putting the [interface]
vga=1
string in the sys.txt u make the igo to display the map in vga mode
0=disable 1= enable

Are these text files supposed to be adjusted through the phone? Or when the phone is plugged into the computer - then you edit it with notepad?

Change your Rom radio ! try .14bs or .16 or if you are affraid of flashing, try .05

Installing Tom Tom 7 took me more than one hour, so thats fine for now, i'm not downloading iGO8

anybody?

The Menu Icon are now OK but the PIOs one still too small
TomTom 7 Build 9028 = normal icons
Build 9030 = small icons.
At least, that was my experience.

Could you please write your version? THX
P.S. Mine is 7.450 (9028) and everything is smaller than it was on the Trinity...
I experienced the same thing - moved from 9028 to 9030 and the icons shrunk.
Actually I got so pissed off with TomTom customer services that I am now trying out iGO8 and probably wont go back to TomTom. They are soooo greedy.
I have now bought 3 different maps for my Diamond and only one works (and its not the one I wanted in the first place!) I also paid the traffic subscription and it wont work with any of the maps I have. Now Tomtom are refusing to refund me on the other maps or even do some kind of exchange. Not the kind of customer service I expect and certainly not what is needed to retain custom!!!
I vote with my feet!!!

I've got the 7.450 (9028)
All is OK exepted the POI icon which still very (too) small
Got no problem what so ever with the 7.450 build 9028.
Everything works great and the icons are just normal.
I thing we can change the Icon size in a config file .... I will have a look...
Why not contact TomTom about this? I have seen a working VGA version of TT7 Build 9030. But I can't tell if there is a legal version of it.
The icons are not small, there are actually the same size as you have on your Trinity, or any other qVGA device for that matter. They look smaller because the Diamond has a VGA resolution.
So if you have a qVGA version on your device you should contact TT that you bought an incompatible verision. Some Diamonds are even shipped with TT7 (Build 9028 if I'm correct.) There are enough links to legal CAB's floating around on XDA
I have 9028 build and this is suposed VGA version.
All is OK with the "VGA Version" except the POI Icons....
I am running build 9028 and icons ARE small.
Even map is smaller than the navigator 6 on my Touch Cruise.
Any solution?
I noticed that some of the menus (e.g. choose what to show on the "homescreen") is normal size and the next menu is small.
Wierd....
what about some sceenshots instead of talking of "small" and "normal"?
I had a problem with custom cursors being small on TT7(9028). I just resized the bitmap and it worked.

I also tried changing the bitmap size but TomTom 7 just reverted back to the standard blue arrow, what size did you increase it to?
I'm using tomtom 7.450 (9028) cant complain much i looks great, fantastic res on screen
everything is smaller as its a very small screen however i can see a lot of the map on screen.
i'm using the 7.20 UK maps as tomtom only sell the euro map for the htc, it eats up a large chunk of the storage.
i already owned the 7.20 UK maps (much smaller about 120MB) for a TT PNA device and works great with a few tweeks (wink, wink,).

NavNGo iGo 8 for the X1

I'm a long-time fan of NavNGo's iGo navigation solution, and since yesterday also a happy owner of an X1. However, these two are currently not on speaking terms with each other. Installation seems to work fine, but clicking the application icon results in, well, nothing.
Searching the net in general and this forum in particular has shown me that this has been a problem with a number of HTC devices. I have tried a couple of the proposed solutions for some of them, but none have worked so far. Has anyone managed to get iGo 8 (or, for that matter, 2006 - I have both) running on the X1 and, if so, how? Any help would be appreciated.
did you update to the latest version with the contentmanager? also try to disable agps on your x1 and try again, but what also can happen is that it dont likes the WVGA Resolution for that i dont have an solution.

Using latest version. I read in other forums about disabling agps, but saw other posts claiming that was not necessary with the latest version. Either way, if I'd want to try it, how do I disable agps?
I think what you have to do is find a skins that is wvga compatible for it. I've been looking all over the net to find one, but I cant. I'm sure this is the problem.

I've seen this site before, but when you look at the included resolutions in the folders they only have 400x240.
Download the skin with 400x240 resolution and modify the sys.txt to include the following lines

resolution_dir="400_240"
vga=1

well.. Did it work?
I'm also a fan of iGO8 and I'm getting my X1 tomorrow.
So I really hope it works ok.
one thing you could try is to add the sys.txt lines without using the skin. Does the original skin resize if you do that?

Oh sorry for the mix up, I've basically been preparing all my software that I was using on my omnia to use on my X1 that I will get in a few days, So I won't be able to test this yet, but I believe that the skin was the only think that would've been a problem on the x1, but now it's solved. If it doesn't work even with the skin, I have tomtom7 that I know works on the x1 (according to other owners). But I can't wait to have mine!!!

iGO8 on Xperia

This is NOT a warez question.
My last post was deleted by the moderator Gsleon3 with this reason, (see below).
I think that the question is totaly in order and Im sending the same message as I sent to Navngo.
Hi,
I recently bought my self a new phone with built in GPS, (SonyEricsson Xperia).
I have had TomTom for years on my phones before but was really disappointed by their way of handling longtime customers regarding the possibilities to upgrade maps or the program. I was told to upgrade to a price the same as buying a new licens which I think is very unthankful when I have been a customer for 5 years and upgraded two times before.
I have read a lot of good reviews on the web about your product iGO8 and would like to know if it’s possible to run it on the WVGA resolution of my new Xperia.
Please let me know because I want to buy a navigation program as soon as possible.
I have seen sites regarding changing skins for iGO, if I buy the software, would that mean that I’m not allowed to modify the look of the program?
Best regards,
Miki

Being as this is an issue only on CRACKED & HACKED versions of NavNGo IGo8, your thread has been removed. We do NOT tolertate warez or piracy here at XDA-Developers. Warez or Piracy related posts are grounds for review & usually result in a one week or greater ban, even for first offenses.
This is a warning. Do NOT discuss warez related versions, hacks, fixes, etc... on XDA. Go elsewhere for that. You are probably asking your question here because the site you got your warez version from is shut down. Well guess what? It is shut down thanks to NavNgo & Igo8.
Where is the problem. Shure, you can run IGO8 on Xperia. You have a Card Slot and you can run IGO8 with the original skin. If you not like it, you find many skins in the web. Good luck for buy.
Well the problem is, that according to Navngos site, they dont support WVGA and they havnt listed Xperia as a supported model. This doesnt have to mean that it wont work. But I dont want to buy a program that doesnt work.
I have read about people making it possible to use 800x480 skins.
The only thing I want to know is, does it work with 800x480 and Navngos standard skin.
When you write, "sure, you can run iGo8 on the xperia", does that mean that you have done so or are your only saying so because the xperia has a card slot?
/Miki
You can run IGO8 on PC to, why not run on Xperia. I told you, that you have many skins for this sulution, but I have no Xperia, that you can trust me to 100%.
Im sorry Neo130, but why do you even bother to write anything here when you clearly dont own a Xperia. I get the impression that your experiance with WM devices are very poor when you compare the xperia with a regular PC. I also thought I made it clear that my question was if it was possible to use the standard skin. Im not intrested in other skins. The only reason to look at other skins would be to modify the 640x480 skin to be a 800x480 skin if the Navngo dont have a 800x480 skin.
If you have information regarding a WVGA skin that looks like the standard then please let me know.
I havent got any answer from Navngo yet. I havent got any answer from this forum that the standard skin works. So right now it looks like I will have to look for another Nav program. I wont be buying a software where I will have to make a skin by my self and then hassle with getting it to work. If I know there is a WVGA skin just like the original and that it aint hard to make it work, then maybe Ill buy the program but for now Ill wait.
If any one out there has another nav.program that you like and that works on the Xperia, (not TomTom), please let me know.
/Miki

hi,
Yesterday was an post wich was deleted becaus of moderathor thoth that it was discusion abaut hacked programs.
the thtead abaut tomtom survived. install tomtom and download free map to test the programm.that is tomtom option.
igo8 has also trial .and skins are free. just download , rename data.zip and place in igo folder.
I think the thred was delated because there was link for skin for igo to page where YOu can download also cracked progs.
anyway Ill try to get igo working on x1 sense it was reported to work.
and let YOu know whot is whot.
and for information I personaly dont like Igo8. I have miomap c520 and I think miomap 3.3 has better interface.I dont need hauses on map, like igo 8 has.
buy igo 8 and find in google skin with 400_240
then rename it to data.zip place in igo 8 directory.
then edit sys in program folder. not sdcard.so it stands like this
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
minzoom2D=40
show_exit=1
skin="ui_igo8"
resolution_dir="400_240"
vga=1
[rawdisplay]
class="landscape"
highres=1
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
that`s all
Thank You Arnisv.
I totaly missed Mio, it does look nice. I dont care about the 3d buildings, probably the first thing to turn off.
What Im after is a good looking GUI, a fast program, fast calculating routes and fast when updating the screen. Its also a must that it should be possible to enter a streets name befor the city. You cant do that with tomtom and in stockholm thats a real pain. Tomtom wont find an address if you only write Stockholm and the street name. You have to be more specific and enter that areas name intstead of Stockholm. Even if I live in Stockholm and have been around everywhere I still dont know all the area names or exact where their boundarys start and stop, and many times due to that Tomtom couldnt find the street.
Didnt find a downloadable trial version of iGO8. I would be very grateful if you could try if it works on the Xperia.
Thanks,
Miki
igo8 has the same search like miomap.
@mikiqtek, sorry for my poor english, but I write that you can run IGO8 on a PC to. That means, a lot of skinner are working for IGO8. And I see skins for your Xperia. You never write from a standart skin IGO. You write, can IGO8 run on Experia - And I say YES, because I read the skinnerforums. And my experience from PPC is about 8 years. I hope you find your answer.

The difference is 3D navigation with turn by turn voice directions, GUI optimised for driving, and full map sets, vs. a 2D map that only beeps at turns, is too complicated to truly read while driving, and has to be downloaded on the fly meaning it will not work if you enter an area with no service.

i see the start up screen for about 20 seconds then it crashes.
does anyone know where the problem is?
no problems occur while using the original and official NavNGo iGo 8 software release of the program which is downloadable through their content manager application - as the s/w was updated to officially support Omnia´s screen resolution, the solution described in this thread will work with an official and legal copy of the program, I assume.

I tried both iGO2006 and iGO8 to run on my XPERIA X1 but unfortunately I did not get either one working, though both apps did work fine on my HTC P3300. I now use TomTom Navigator 7 and that runs just fine. That also uses the complete "screen real estate" resulting in fantastic map views, without stretching whatsoever. Hope this helps.

2 problems with IGO 8

I do.
Anyway, I decided to go back to low resolution. In high res I have difficulties to see the map in 2D view (and my eyes are ok...), and in 3D the res doesn't matter anyway.
The high res is nice when you want to see the "big picture", but to navigate in the car - I prefer the low res.
I still have problem with the sound, which changes by IGO to 40% every time I exit IGO.
Hi,
i got a little problem. Just bought a car holder for my TD2 with a integrated connector for the head set. now the TD2 recognizes the car holder as headset and does not use the TD2-speaker for direction advices,... Is there any possibility to force igo8 not use the headset but the built in speaker?
Anyone got a hint for me?

Igo8 is working for me on full screen when screen orientation in iGo setup is set to "system default"
There is only one problem - if you change orientation with iGo working, it doesn't recognizing it properly. Everything else is just fine.
What's working on my HD also works on HD2. So you cand read the HD forum for a solution.
Igo doesn't support 800x480 if i read their website
http://www.navngo.com/pages/global/eng/igo_8_description

Hy all My iGO8 works fine on my HD2! I've just copied it from my old HD. It doesn't have pinch and zoom but I don't miss this so much! Is there any way to find what is the resolution of wich the program works in the moment? There is nothing mentioned about resolution in my sys.txt!
My sys.txt which works perfectly(exept TMC ,but that is another story):

How'd you get yours to start? I unzipped everything in the data.zip too, but I still got the message "failed to open file "ui_240_400.bmp" or something like that.
thanks.
Using the data.zip file seems to get past the first hurdle. The program starts to run, displaying an initial screen (although the size is wrong), it them comes up with an error:
FFUIERRORarse error [</layer> expected]
I'm using this sys.txt file:
[folders]
;app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
app="\Storage Card\Igo8"
[interface]
skin="ui_igo8"
resolution_dir="800_480"
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
vga=0
[rawdisplay]
highres=0
screen_x=480
screen_y=800
class="PORTRAIT"
driver="GDI"
Not sure what to try next...
hi all i have solved all the problems with the htc hd2 and running the IGO8 app,
i have uploaded a fully working iGO8 v8.3.4.102680, you dont have to edit any files or sys.txt, its fully running @800x480 or 480x800 and includes all HIGH res skins/poi/buildings e.c.t.
if you would like a like please PM me and ill set u up
EDIT: all problems solved like large car icon in 480x800, and also an increased connection speed and app bootup speed
Thanks - Damien and all - for your valuable input - i managed to get it running in Hires with your hints!
It took me a while to get the GPS running - he was activating Bluetooth and looked for an external GPS until i realised a have to set Port and Speed to auto and to cancel the bluetooth search.
One last (?) question:
Does TMC work on the HD2 with Igo 8 - possibly with the internal radio or with an external Hardwarwe (which)?

Not working for me
igo8 is not working for me too
I tried 8.3.4.10 and the device goes into loop asking if i want to downgrade
the program again and again
I've got Igo working fine, but i find that it's pretty terrible for correct speed limits here in Northern Ireland! Constantly thinks I'm in a 30mph when I'm in a 40mph.
Also, I find it takes a while for it to "realise" that I've gone from a 40 to a 50mph zone for example. On my Navigon GPS, it's almost an instantaneous update. Just a shame that their application is crap on the HD2, otherwise I'd have bought it.
Unless there is a fix?
