I'm sorry that my first post in this forum is about a disaster, but i have a serious problem...
I tried to upgrade my MDA vario to wm6 using shelltool. During the process, the M$ XP hanged => one mistake led to another => i now have a very nice silver brick!
When powered, shows IPL 2.21.0001 , SPL 2.21.0lip , GSM 02.25.11 but no OS => it remains hanged...
Of course in this state it cannot connect with M$ ActiveSync, so it seems that my hands are tied....
After a hard reset (2buttons+reset), i see the screen with 4 colors (RGBW) and IPL 2.21.0001 / SPL 2.21.0lip (No GSM). If i connect the USB cable at this screen, the connect sound is heard from PC speakers, and i see the word USB on the lower left corner.
Is there any possibility that the device can be recovered?
If i go to HTC/QTEK service, can they restore the device to a working condition?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I made me some coffee, and did some reading for a few hours.
By pressing Photo Button+Power button, the phone starts in bootloader screen (RGBW). Then, i installed Wizzard Love ROM, which seems to be working fine!
I don't know who made this ROM, but he/she has my many thanks!

This could all been avoided if you hadn't used ShellTool with a HardSPL'ed phone.
It's not reasonable to have a phone in an pseudo-unlocked state that can accept any 'SPL-safe' ROM with official updater tools (RUU) and still upgrade it with a method that isn't very safe and that was created when HardSPL and SoftSPL didn't exist.
Please be careful as these equipments are sensible and expensive and a thorough reading can avoid a lot of headaches

Hey guys,
A friend told me to instal the new wm6 rom on my mda vario. I downloaded the rom but i forget to CID unlock it. When i start my mda i only see the tri-collor screen with:
above: IPL 1.06
in the right upper corner: RUU
a little above the middle: SPL 1.06
When i connect my mda with my computer my computer recognises the mda, i hear a tone and usb apears on the mda but active sync doenst show the connection
My problem now is:
I cant start the mda, i think i lost my old roms and the mda is useless now.
Please folks try to help me i realy need this mda for my work and im hopeless without it. When is start the MDA i just see the screen and i cant do anything but looking to that screen. the touch screen doesnt work and the keys neither.
Is there a solution to CID unlock my mda or to connect it with active sync so i can get in the folders or something and then install the older roms or so.

you should be in the Wizard Upgrading, etc. thread.
You could be in 1 of 2 possible situations:
1. Your phone was a G4 and you flashed G3 bootloaders into it and now it is a fully fledged brick. (hope this isn't the case, but this happens when people jump in and don't read first)
2. Your battery is probably dead. You should have read before you jumped in. Have your friend recharge your battery since they seem to know so much about what you should be doing with your phone. If your friend doesn't have the same phone and already completed these procedures then you shouldn't have been listening to them in the first place. If you can't get your battery charged this way then you will have to buy one from a store that sells the phone or on ebay.
you will need to re-flash the button rom and complete the unlock. Then make sure you DO step 17 BEFORE you flash your WM6 rom or you will still be in a world of crap.
If you don't know what I mean by step 17 then go to the forum I mentioned above and look for a thread near the top that is Tagged with [READ FIRST]
Read that and you will be good. You need to talk to your friend and make sure that the next time they "help" someone they make sure to give them ALL of the information they need before they start trying to turn their expensive toy into a plastic paperweight.

I have a dopod C800. I have tried upgrading but have run into some difficulty.
The PDA will not go past the tricolor boot loader screen. The only writing is as follows. In the Red section.

I cannot get the Active Sync to go green (connect) but I know my computer can see the device as i get a sound when i plug the USB cable in.
Can help me and advise what I can do? I think i might have tried to HArd SPL.

I went try to repair it and they say i gotta change the motherboard aka the machine. i was like ^&* since it cost $400, might as well by a new phone.
My son dropped his 8525. It is now stuck on a display of red, green, blue, and white bars. A reset and a battery removal do nothing to get it to boot. Is it toast or is there something I can do to get it to boot?

Read a bit and see if it works but please understand that this really just trying out everything in a last ditch effort to get it working. There may be no hope, so no promises...
If you do manage to get it going again I'd suggest Hard SPLing your phone so it is easier to fix. Hard SPL isn't a guarantee, mind, but it does provide a safety net for when things like this happen...

hermes 100 8525 flash problem
hi, i was trying to upgrade a cingular 8525 in the process of unlock,
and it stopped at 1%, and did nothing,
now the phone just go to the 3 color screen,
and says

what can i do to restore it to normal please,
lacasapc, try to Hard Reset, hold down both soft keys and reset with stylus. If that doesn't work then try this : Flash it to you device while it in tricolour screen. Make sure that your activesync disable & use the latest RUUwrapper.
Open Activesync, select connection settings and untick "Allow USB Connections".
Run the RUUwrapper.exe file for the os you want after connecting the hermes via usb. Chose SPL 1.40 then HARD SPL and then flash the new OS. This should work.

Few days ago my Wizard died all of a sudden. When turned on it only gets to the point when it shows "HTC smart mobility" and stays there. So not even to the screen with IPL, SPL. I tried soft/hard resetting, playing with battery but it was all no go, same.
I can get to the red-green-blue bootloader screen however, shows IPL 3.08, SPL 3.08. If i connect via USB cable to computer, bootloader screen shows "USB" on bottom. The ROM on the device was TNT's (not sure which version), Windows Mobile 6.1. It worked for ages without any problems with this ROM before this.
ActiveSync does not recognise Wizard at all, I cannot establish connection and therefore downgrade/upgrade the ROM becouse upgrade programs (for exmaple with ROM got originally with the device) say they cannot contact the device.
What are my options, please help.

in my opinion , it is normal for active sync to not recognize your phone , because it's not turn on properly ,i mean it only recognize the phone when you enter windows mobile.
if i were you i would try to flash any rom i like and see if it works. i hope this helps
But ROM upgrade/downgrade program requires ActiveSync connection to run and I can't establish it...How to solve the situation, please advise?
when you are in bootloader screen and your phone is connected to the pc by usb cable just start the downgrade/upgrade program and it should work.
i did that. rom update utility complains that it cannot connect with mobile...
that was tried with:
1. official t-mobile ROM that was on the device when I got it
2. CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE ROM
my IPL and SPL versions now are 3.08

I can get to the bootloader , i can even perform a succesful hard reset.
But it doesnt get recognized by the computer in bootloader mode. is there any way to flash the rom if the computer doesnt recognize the device?

Try this look for nbd v8.1 or v8.3 .
hold the camera button and do a soft reset but keep holding the camera button until the 3 color screen comes up it should sync your phone then run the nbd rom or original cingular ship rom like this one ** RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1 ** i prefer original then other but that's me. 1. Make sure your battery up to 50%, 100% is recommended...
2. turn off u'r PPC
3. press camera,talk, and power button at the same time for a second until your display show 3 colour....
4. plug your cable data from PPC to desktopPC, and make sure your display show "USB", and try to re-flash with other ROMS.....

I have a Wizard G4 and I tried to install a WM6.5 ROM (TechTeamup Mega Wizard rom) from the default WM5. I did not put in the hard-spl (as I now read) before I tried to flash. Now when it boots, I go strait to the flash screen (tri-color) screen. I tried ot run the hard-spl-G4 and it says it cannot find a device. I have tried to re-flash back to WM5 ROMs that I have found, however it says it cannont complete "ERROR 296: UPGRADE ONLY, which makes me belive I need a G4 Wizard ROM that is a full (not upgrade). What steps should I take now to revert back to a WM5 so I can re-try the "unlock" hard-spl proceedure to make the phone WM6 compatible?
Anyone have any suggestions?

Download the original ship ROM for your phone.
Turn the phone off.
Press and hold the Camera key, now insert the USB cable, Keep holding the camera key until you get the boot loader screen.
Now run the ROM update to flash back to WM5.

I brick my wizard too... What happened was I flashed my own cook of m6r5 it say successful but on reboot, it shows htc logo then stays ay tricolor screen:
