snapvue work normal

Have you tried erasing hard disk?
With all that programs you might have run out of space..

thanks for reply but am sure am not out of space there is alot of
space and how can i delete the hard if i cant open the vista
even the screen with htc mark does not show only black
i start feeling that shift is not good device in use i think its
tooooo sensitive
or maybe only my device
what about you guys ?

If you are not even getting the HTC boot screen on Vista side it sounds as if you have a serious hardware problem.
Have you done any hardware modifications?
If not then I urge you to return the device under Warranty.

Why not using Fn + F3 at boot time to reinstall vista?

how can i do that if the boot time does not come
only black screen
and thanks guy for reply
by the way does the shift made in china ?

You don't even see the bios messages?

I will try to imagine this can be a stupid situation. Just try this:
Push the power button for 10 seconds and see if something happens.
After that, try again to push the power button.
If it works and you see the bios, press FN+F3 and don't install too much thinks on your device.

Then RMA it.

sorry pof but what you mean ? RMA?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_Merchandise_Authorization

but it start some time

If it was your car and it only run sometimes, wouldn't you return it then? Why should you act differently with a computer?? Of course you should RMA it.

And in the first post says the shift is only 3 days old, so he could claim DOA (Dead On Arrival) and get a new device.

ok
thanks pof and other guy who reply

without cd

I have the same problem but with white screento bleck screen

OMG OMG .. I THINK I RUINED IT ... HELP 1ST DAY plzzzzz

ok I just got my mda out of the new box it was working fine.
I tried to update the rom, everything went well until 88% when the pc outta nowhere shut off. I dont know why it did this , my pc never turns off.
now its stuck in the RUU red green blue screen
some one plz heeeeeeeeeeelp
sometimes you can begin the update process all over again, and the rom flash will recover and complete.
Don't fret dude, all is not lost, I take it you didn't make a backup of your device to SD? Well no worries go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386&highlight=awizard try to read up as much as you can there to make sure your not doing anything wrong, it's better to take an extra 15min reading then spending 1 hr worried about your machine. Question 2 I think applies to you:
"Q2 : What to do if the device hold at splash screen after upgrade?
A2:
- connect the device with usb cable
- hold the "voice dial" and shortly press the reset button by stylus
- release the reset button and wait for the USB color screen
- download and run the shipped ROM upgrade program (with .exe file extension) e.g. ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/HTC_Wizard/Roms/
- you device will be bootable again.
- then start aWizard and run through the 'e', 'u', 'w' one by one. Of coz you have to connect your phone to ActiveSync before running the 'e' option. "
I hope your able to fix your problem bro, good luck!
Jesus, your title makes me want to hit you in the nose. Learn to spell
As for the update, I've never had a problem fixing it by doing what the poster above said. Mine was totally dead at one stage.

What method of hard resetting did you try?
If hard reset does not work get to the bootloader screen (multicolored) by holding down camera button and preset reset button.
You can then reflash your rom - does not have to be activesynced to do this - as long as you have a small 'usb' on bottom left of bootloader screen when connected to pc it should work.
I guess this is the rom thats already on your device ftp://[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/o2/Xda_Minis_Upgrade_v2.21.4.101.exe
whats the boot loader screen, all the phone loads upto is the bit before windows mobile shows when you first turn it on
comes up with 02 logo, jsut tried tgettin bootloader up does fone have 2 b off or on

Turn phone off - then press camera button and hold - press power on button whilst still holding camera button. Bootloader screen should come up (multicolored)

Just download the rom mentioned above - connect device to computer (does not have to activesynced) and run the rom intaller and the rom will install.

The rom install usually takes 10 mins or so - dont worry it usually stalls a while around the 70-80% mark a while - just wait and be patient until its 100%. It will return to factory condition so all your data will be lost i am afraid. If you have synced with outlook before your pim info can be restored from there.
i was only jsut settin it back up anyway and it didnt work just now the update but it dont the error revoery adn its working again done 75 so far
Just tried to upgrade my XDA mini to this new ROM (v2.21.4.101). Everything seemed to be going swimmingly - I installed the ROM and the thing booted up ok. I then did a soft reset before all the o2 stuff installed. I then went to do a restore (having previously backed up using spb backup) and it almost completed but then the mini s rebooted itself again.
Ever since, it will only get as far as a page which has most of the bar at the top of the screen (the signal strength icon, battery strength and GPRS indicator are all there), but not the start button. Underneath that is just a blue screen with the Windows Mobile logo. The backlight will come on if I press any of the buttons but otherwise it is not responding.
I've tried holding down the camera button and pressing the on/off button and also camera button and the reset button, but neither of them seem to do anything.
I've tried reinstalling the rom from the PC but it says it can't find my device.
Rather bizarrely, if I call myself from another phone, the device rings and says incoming call, so the thing obviously isn't totally dead.
What can I do to sort this out?
Cheers!

I cannot reset Vista...please help

Hi, I would like to reset Vista but I simply cannot!
I tried pressing F3 button on boot, I see the screen that says to press "Y" to confirm but when I press Y, it reboots by itselft without starting the process.
I have also tried from Vista Control Center, in Advanced Option, I click on the button to reset Windows (not SnapVue), the Shift reboot and Vista boots again...
Am I so stupid?!
Yes, I am so stupid that I have not red carefully what the Shift say:
"Do you want to TERMINATE the process?"
Obviously if I press Yes it exits!
Sorry for the silly post!
It is not so silly, I have this before. I took it to htc care center to fix!

I still get into this situation. That one is really catchy. I pressed Y instead of N few times even on the other day where I was messing around the system to break BT, SD Locks. I was unsuccessful in breaking the BT and SD locks though.
Thanks

unable to boot shift

Help needed.
I have been leaving my Shift in the drawers for sometime. Today, I took it out and charged the battery.
It boot up sucessfully after a full charge but went into sleep mode when I was loggin in. The it refused to boot up from then on.
The green light on both the "start" and "battery" light is on but that is all about it. No activity on the screen or the harddisk.
I tried the "F3" button as well but nothing happens.
I need help please! Was thinking of upgrading it to Windows 7.
Thanks.

Disconnect any external power.
Shutdown windows.
Take the battery out.
Wait a minute or two.
Put the battery back in.
Power on.
I tried that as well but nothing happens. Only the Wm side is still working but the Vista side is totally silent.
After the battery has been removed, the WM side is off until the power switch is moved to turn the PC side on.
So something is happening on the PC side when you turn the power on for the first time following battery removal.
Do you get the option for BIOS? Pres Del at power up so see if you can get some diagnostics. It might tell you if some hardware is not working.
If you have an external monitor you could try connecting that to see if there is anything to see on the PC side.
I'm afraid I'm no expert on this.
Thanks Flanimal. Tried all that but still nothing.
I suspect the BIOS is corruptted. Is there anyway i can get my BIOS back?
You can download a bios update from HTC website (or at least I could sometime ago) but you will need to be able to boot first to update BIOS as far as I can remember.
So, let's recap, when you boot the Shift, you don't get anything on screen at all on the XP/Vista side? Not even booting options, like, press F2 to do this of F8 to do that? Nothing at all? I am at work right now and don't have my Shift with me to be able to be more clear about options.
internal battery?
Out of curiosity, I just did a google search to try to find out if the Shift has one of those 'penny' internal batteries inside, that might need replacing over time.
I coudn't find anything to confirm or deny this, but it did leave me wondering:
A. Is there a penny battery inside the Shift that will eventually die and need the Shift to be opened up for replacement?
and
B. What would be the behaviour of the Shift on the absense of the aforementioned possible battery?

Looking at the dismantling guide (HTC Shift Dismanting Guide by facedemol PDF) published in this site it does not seem to have one.

I've been mulling this one over and it occurred to me that the Shift maintains the time and date even when the main bettery has been taken out.
I wonder how it might do this without a power source. Maybe there is a battery hidden in there somewhere...

[Q] Lock scren button

HI I am new to android and HTC and last night i have put Android NAND using MGLDR. was working fine but for some reason when i want to lock the screen and i press the power button it shows more option menu instead to lock the screen. Before when i press once the pwer button it locks but if i hold the button it shows more options menu. Now i have to press twice the button to lock screen and when i wqant to unlock it will do the same it will show up the menu. I tryed to reinstal it again from my SD card using ClockWOrk, MGLDR, puting him back to factory setting but still soemtimes it does that. Now waht i want to do is to do task29 and to again everything. I have found on this site an exe by doloop for task29 but i get error cant connect to phone check USB connection. Run as admin on my win7 64bit and disabled driver signature but stillsame error. How to fix the unction of this button?
Android isntaled:
TyphooN_CM7_v3.6.8-MAGLDR.zip
I'm pretty sure that's an issue with your END button, rather than with Android.
Has your screen been unresponsive sometimes?

Are you sure? I'm 99% sure it isn't anything to do with the ROM, it sounds like your end key is getting stuck when you press it. I used TyphooN for ages (in fact, if I'm not mistaken up to that very version) and it never failed me, so I don't see how it wouldn't work for you. Try flashing back to WinMo and seeing if the same applies there.
I believe you're having the famous issue of HD2 with the 'end' button. Try another rom first to be sure, if that's the case, start using "Button Savior" or similar app...

Is it dificult to open it at home and see if is there something in it?Is there some maybe guide how to open it or maybe i take to some servis shop and hope for the best?
