i am needing some help to find a app to backup my pda,
i lookink for a full backup (sms,contacts,etc), so if i mess things up,i can turn it back to previus state easily.(noob)
i found the sprite backup, is it good at all ?

search for ppcim back up ... its there in the forum .
Try use SPB Backup
I am download today spb backup lasted version. I tryed full backup & i make Clear Storage. Then i restore backuped *.exe in storage card. Cracked version in http://www.pda4x.com/index.php.

Oh wise ones of the forum can you answer this question for me.
After reading through the forums many of you recomend Sprite Backup rather that using the supplied X Backup.
I have purchased Sprite backup now here's my problem.
I have done a backup using Sprite
If i have to do a hard reset will the sprite backup program be there so i can restore? like X Backup is, in the rom?
If not what do you sugest ?
heard that spirite can backup to the sd card as an exe file in which case you can just run that to restore
or if you have access to the cab file for spirite backup you can put it in the extented rom and it will auto install at hardreset time
I can confirm that Rudegar is correct; Sprite Backup allows you to create self-restoring backups. Keep one of these on your SD card and you can always resotore your device with data & programs after a hard reset.
Works very well for me.

hi friends... i have very carefully evaluated both the software and i can bet it with u all that xbackup makes a more complete and fool proof backup than sprite...
a major problem u will some times face after restoring with sprite is that ur sent msgs will no longr be showing in the sent msg folder!!!
i have had it tried it with many xda IIs owners!

no, you need to select, options,swich to advanced mode,options,backup options,general back up options,and tick the create self-restoring backup files

Flashed S100 with Imate rom ... made backup before flashing...
Flash was ok ... phone is working fine .. but.... now when i try to put backup file again in phone Active Synch always give me error it says backup file is not compatible with that kind of mobile phone???????????

Where's the problem? When you sync again you get all your contacts back. You can't restore an S100 backup to an iMate device, they may have the same base (HTC magician) but the firmware is very different. So the restore wont work. Time to reinstall the programs.

I did that in order to change language imate rom has portuguese....
so now i have to flash again to S100 and restore backup.... any other way to make backup ??? like backup everything to memory card???

just an idea.. why not reflash your old firmware back then do a restore.. then use a different backup program like sprite.. then reflash the new firmware again.. i think its worth a try if you got no other options

i want to ask guys if its possible to install xbackup on jasjar,
cuz i backed up my i-mate jam on SD card, and sold it. now i want to restore the data on the jasajr, but there's no xbackup to read the "CompactFlashBackUpPim" file
can u help me in this?
Sorry cant help you on xbackup, but try Sunnysoft Backup Manager. Earlier versions were a bit iffy but this one seams to work OK.

I'm sure that all of you that are programing have had to restore your Phone back to a workable state.. was wondering which app would work to backup/clome my phone to a file that I could restore if things go totally belly up.. any suggestions would be appreciated.. thanks

if you hardrest yocan use to get exactly what u had before
but many backup cheap or free software : try SIP backup (sticky at this forum)
this only gets your contacts, messages, email..etc
but if you hard reset you loose all installed software

Your best try is to check excellent Backup bible by Menneisyys here. Commercial apps in that field are far superior to freeware/manufacturer issued backup utilities. If you only need PIM data backup then PIM Backup will do its job very well. It is also a good idea to have a dump of your original ROM backed up in case of warranty claims.
However use of backup utilities for migrating from one ROM to another is rather problematic (only Sprite Backup is capable of this and the results vary).
SPB Backup. Great tool, well worth the money.

Because each month a new custom ROM is released, and I can't wait to test them, I use PIM Backup for contacts, messages, email.. and for useful software I want on my PPC, I just make a single CAB with WinCE Cab manager.

well, this afternoon I instaled Sprite Backup on my pc because my father wants a backup of his contacts on your HTC Touch.
Okay, the program runs fine. I made the backup, it was saved on his memory card and then I transfer this backup file for my pc, just in case...
I gave the cellphone back to my father and he taped on 'contact' buton and for his surprise, guess what? all contacts weren't there...sundenly it's all deleted.
Quickly I did the restoration using Sprite Back and that file I talked at the begining...the process runs fine again but when I try to open his contact again, the same problem, all empty...
