Its sad that from here on out every single phone will try to be like the iphone. Wouldnt that just make people want an iphone more? This has all been done before with this phone called Iphone® made by a company called Apple® you should check it out.... this Diamond Touch is nothing that hasnt been done before. "For peat sake" go out and buy an iphone! I am!

So the iPhone has done GPS, 3G, 3rd Party apps before has it
Yes I've played with my mates iPhone, it was nice, slick and I wont deny was a nice phone but come on your starting to sound like Steve with all those copyright logos

Lets be nice guys. All i was addressing was, how many phones came out ever since the iphone, that didnt remind you in some way of the iphone? This Diamond is nice and all. I just see a wannabee iphone. Not being mean just saying. So please, lets respect each others comments.

Lets be nice? Why come in here and make comments that you know will cause backlash if you are trying to be nice?
Actually, I think the iPhone took a lot from older HTC phones and put it in their own package.

awww get off his back
he said nothing offensive...nor did he put anyone or anything "down"....just stated his opinion...to which he is entitled....that said...I agree that the apple more or less tends to miss quite a bit of what a ppc can do....even after it goes 3g there will be much to be desired.....just my opinion

I understand what you are talking. In my opinion, Iphone also trying to be more like windows. Apple tried very hard to add Microsoft office into their phone. And they also start to open their app to 3rd party (windows had done it long time ago). I think that each phone is trying to add as much as ability they can to become the most powerful phone. It is hard to say which phone copy which phone.

i think we shouldnt start the old iphone discussion again, but:
The iphone was more innovative than any other phone. Appel was the first that realised that mobile Internet will be the future.
But i wont even buy a iphone, okay
But what the hell did htc with windows mobile, its unbelievable and great, so please hack that **** and make me cab or buy me a Diamond
oh i forgot, make some drivers for mit touchcruise too, because i cant wait 1 hour for reading a email

Holy crap! Apple invented mobile internet!!

IMO....
I don't think it wants to be an iPhone but an iPhone killer. Personally I (for the first time) skipped a generation and didn't get a Kaiser upgrade from my Hermes (AT&T branded) as it didn't seem as impressive as the upgrade from my Wizard to the Hermes... actually my Wizard from the Blue Angel was the most impressive jump, then I met Jose Faria ...
The HTC Raphael (Diamond with a keyboard) is definitely worth the wait I believe.
As for the iPhone, big deal. To me it's just an iPod that can phone home. The browser IS nice but that's about it. As a phone it sucks. Edge sucks. No DirectPush email sucks (so what that it'll be available in June or so they say) And the lack of a real keyboard.... SUCKS! Very few people I know are really happy with their iPhones, but then that's probably just the crowd I hang with...
Just my two cents ...

simply no
their have been a handful of phones that try to imitate iphone... but the majority that dont far outway the majority that do...
simply put i think users want to imitate the iphone more so than the companies

Personally I believe discussing which phone is best, without specifying your needs, is pointless because it's all due to perspective. However, as far as "comapny's and people trying to imitate." Thank god they are! That's the type of competitive marketing that brings new ideas and technology. Hell, that's why the iPhone is here. So please stop complaining "Th3yr try1ng t0 b3 li3k if0ne!" because after all, the PS3 is just trying to be like Atari!
That being said, I am more interested in the Raphael than the Diamond. I wasn't impressed with trying to use the OEM keyboard on the Touch, so unless they fix that, I'm loving my QWERTY. Although, if they fix it, it WOULD be nice to be able to type single-handedly..

Is the Mini Better suited for Women?

My girlfriend is looking for a PocketPC, in terms of ergonomics, would you say this model is better for women?
I don't think it is that simple, that certain devices are better for women or men. If you have small hands, it would be good.
But is your gf a geek? My wife is for sure not, and she is very happy with her dead tree calendar/addressbook and her simple Ericsson T65 phone (and she didn't want to inherit my old Cassipeia PDA).

Woman and computers , if you ask me, that doesn't match very well
I thought females preferred LARGER packages!
SOME of the women dont like messing with complicated **** all they want is to make calls and recieve and calendar etc. any phone will do. But if your woman is ready to mess with files and registry keys and not get irritated about hard-resets. If she's an avid PDA User then JAM is the way to go. But i have never seen a girl/lady carry one.

I saw a women using a magician in a popular TV sitcom (US). I remember saying outload to everyone in the room, " Look ..Look, OMG that women is using a phone just like mine." Then they just looked at me like soo. I guess they didn't understand my enthusiasm
Thanks for all the replies.
My original posts focused on ergonomics, but someone says it best:
"If you lke sophiticated toys (something like that) you'll like the Mini."
It is a great gear, ain't it? Too bad with all the things you can do, the original battery can't quite taking it to "be all it can be"...
My wife has accidentally dropped my MDA on the floor as soon as she has held it in the hands for the first time. My MDA has scratched now. I think this device will be killed soon if she'll be its owner.
I have to agree with georgexoasi. PDA/smartphone combos have so far been for techies who don't mind updating the ROM (or more likely wait for the next update, even if ther's nothing to fix).
The only stable smartphone platform I know of is Series 60 Symbian.
My P900 showed promise but dried up with a crap one handed interface and very little 'cool' software.
The iMate Jam has been the best one so far, but it still requires a weekly reboot and it still has sound quality issues etc.
If she want a smart looking phone get a razr, if she want's a gadget get the Jam!

A weekly reboot? Can you please elaborate?
he's probably talking about a soft-reset wherein your device reboots and cleans up a bit, releases ram etc etc. I do it everyday or when my device seems to be slowing down. takes only a few seconds, natural for ppcs.
Sorry to bump a 1 month old post, but I just gotta say that both my sister and my fiancee are looking at getting Jams of their own.
All it took for my sister was seeing "Who wants to be a Millionaire" and "Virtual Pool".
And my fiancee just loves all the skinning, themes, and Solitaire!
Plus they both wanted to get iPod minis until I showed them pPod with my 1gig card!!
Between the 2 of them I barely get to play with it!!

lmao at winmo fanboys

just had a guy at ppcgeeks tell me Android is to the mobile market what Linux is to the desktop market. talk about having your heads in the clouds. im soo glad i ditched winmo and moved to the hero. after seeing the disaster of wm7 today i made the right move.
Wow haha... that man has been misinformed obviously. MyTouch 3G? Droid? Nexus One? The only Android phone I could really say that would fit his description would be the Samsung moment (haven't heard of many people with one).

Cant and wont agree with the comment from the guy at PPG, however the 7 phone is far from a disaster and I fully believe that it will bring WinMo back from the dead...even more so than WebOS did for Palm. Its look features, and functionality beats the **** out of everything on the market except Android. Anyway, I'm with Android to stay (though maybe not Sence next time around).

Recovering the costs of new development, and gathering anticipated profits to MS (or any other large company) will have to be realized before any new stuff is released. So they will slow the industry momentum down in order to maximize the money that can make. Money is fine. Slowing everything down sucks.
Now they can slow things down by screwing up others, ie.. specifications for open systems designs and so forth.
Only when they see their customer base being reduced (-14% winmo) will they react.
Google on the other hand supplies a "cloud base" and should be impervious to change costs on platforms. That could mean the introduction of new platforms and system upgrades. Certainly a more open environment.

Justin Bieber uses the HTC HD2?

What do you think looking from the pic?
Do you know of any other celebrities that uses the powerhouse known as the HTC hd2 or have they been bribed by Apple?
Please let me know what you think...
This is not an HD2, imo. The little chrome-thingy at the side is not present at an HD2, and the part of the housing above the battery cover is too slim.
looks more like a blackberry to me with the logo at the middle on the back
great now i have to burn this phone.
actually that looks like a blackberry storm 2.
Thank god its not an HD2 I was about to throw mine as far away as I could
How does that look like an HD2 to you?
It's definitely a storm.

thank god! .... i don´t have to burn, smash and vaporize my HD2 ...
... or run against these strange "doorthings" ...
At a quick glance it does have the same black trim with an HD2 like battery cover, and the size looks convincing.... But I can say 100% it is a Blackberry. 3 things tip it off.
1. Wrong shape and size for the camera
2. The phone is branded Verizon on the bottom by his finger (the Verizon symbol is visible on a large screen HDTV and zoomed in).
3. His hands would be too small to hold an HD2... Just kidding The top symbol is the Blackberry logo.
And the answer is: a Blackberry Storm 2, and not his! He was given the phone with the pre programed number in it for the Jimmy Kimmel show. He owns an iPhone as seen many times in public and even recently. If you think about it, isn't the iPhone more of a kids phone as most apps and games are geared for a younger crowd?
Just for the record, I don't follow him or claim to like his music (although he is much better than Soulja Boy... Actualy anything is better than Soulja Boy) I just wanted to put this post to rest and hopefully get J.B. off the first page.
Thanks god it is not HD2 =) She needs iPhone as every 13year old girl.

Who really cares about what celebrity is using which phone? The most important people for me as far as phone issues are those great cooks and editors of this great forum. They make things happen for us and rock our devices while the celebrities only get drunk and show us their "shinny pants".

iPhone 4 camera suffers from the 'splodge'.

I thought it would be interesting to share that it seems like the iPhone 4 suffers also from a far from perfect camera, in this video it appears to have a nasty blue hue in the center of the video.
This isn't intended as an iPhone 4 bashing thread, so please don't waffle on about how you hate the iPhone, it was just an interesting observation I thought I'd share.
There's also a problem with the antenna in the new iPhone.
Let's face it: there is just no perfect phone! ;-)
I am sure that there are plenty of forums for iPhone users to discuss the faults of their phone - so I think that is where this thread should be.
I will show no schadenfreude at the iPhone's problems. As much as I don't like the total control of Apple, they did revolutionise the mobile phone interface.

This is just brilliant, Steve Jobs, I salute you!
I've been hearing about the problems with the signal for the last couple of days.
It would appear that Apple are not satisfied with just telling Developers what and how to develope apps for their phone but now they feel the need to tell the end customer how to use the phone as well lol.
A more appropriate name for the iPhone 4 would have been 'iCommunist 4' lol.
On a side note, if the drop in signal is caused by the users hand conductivity, I would suggest just coating the effected area of the phone in a clear lacquer and this should resolve the issue.

Omg, that is simply amazing! Steve even tells you how to hold the phone correctly, "Just avoid holding it in that way." ROFL!
What gets me is how review after review continue to rave how great the new iphone is without a whisker of a thought as to the negatives.
Its time that reviewers got of their high horse and thoroughly reviewed the iphone worts and all.
But wait....its steve jobs baby so any negative would see a defamation case against reviewer...
Not to bash iphone or anything but did you guys hear the crap with that photons thing on the camera technology in new iphone..
The apple fans would have been salivating big time with that hoopla from jobs...
but wait.....
Jobs now wants iphone 4 users to hold their gem in a unique aficionado way...what next?
Simplest solution of mine: DO NOT OWN IT, SO WON'T TOUCH IT AT ALL.
Now, HTC, when will you guys release the GSM version of the Evo 4G, quick!

Got an officemate who was showing off his "upgraded" 3GS with multitasking. Just told them I already had that about 10 yrs ago with my Orang Tanager Windows Mobile. He wasn't even sure if he could close the running apps or just hide it.
My gf walked past the Apple store in Milton Keynes yesterday.
They had barriers outside to cope with 70-80 people.
There was 1 person in the queue!
The shop was open and had only about 10 people inside (including staff) but like an unpopular nightclub, they were forcing people to wait outside in a failed attempt to look like they were busy
What a bargain...

after a few months now i find myself in love with this great piece of technology.

I frankly am getting sick of all the HD2 bashing on the tech mag sites. Most of what they write seems to be laden down with hearsay and hyperbole. I find myself actually registering with certain sites simply to comment back about how the HD2 really is an amazing phone as long as one learns how to use Sense and WM 6.5.
But now T-Mobile has moved on to the Galaxy as their "flagship phone". Guess they were too nervous to put their chips in with a WinMo 6.5 phone...whateva!

Like I always say, "There's huge difference between those who know how to use a computer, and those who know only how to use the programs on a computer."

well you have to remember, the phone is kinda old in the rest of the world.
we got it here so late that many other newer and better phones have been designed for the market it seems.
but regardless i'd rather have this fone than the other new stuff out.
most of it just seems...idk, i guess faceless?
if that makes sense.
