Help... Problem with receiving calls on elf

Hey. I'm a new user
Bought an elf bout a month back, but the phone has big problem. Randomly, it doesn't ring when someone calls! Shows no missed calls either. Messages don't come as well.
And all this is very random. Some calls do come through. some don't.
Googled and found that a lot of peeps have the same problem. Supposedly, the phone doesn't ring when it is in sleep mode.
But i've had the problem even when i've had the phone constantly on and just locked.
I've tried soft reset but it doesn't work...
Should i get the phone replaced or repaired
Or is there any other solution.
I tried searching this forum but couldn't find any threads related to this problem. There was no information in the wiki either. Can someone help me???
I have htc home customiser, slide to unlock and a picture viewer installed. Original rom

Try hard reset, but remember to backup all your data before. Contacts, appointments, files etc. And better remove SD and SIM before doing it.

Well. Tried hard reset.
Unfortunately did it before i read your reply and did it with the card and the sim in it
I did back up all my data and contacts though
But the problem still persists
I guess i have to make a visit to the sevice centre after all...

hey evn i ve d same prob got it replaced from d servic centre bt it exists evn now..wid d new piece lol...its a prob wid d radio rom version...cant help it dey r helpless bear wid it..don hard reset no use mate... !!!

Problem after Upgrade
Hey I have a similar problem...
I upgraded my ROM and since then I cannot turn off my Phone cus if I do when i turn it on the Radio (as in Network) WON'T WORK! Even after I insert pin # it just says there are no networks available although every other phone in the house has network... I've tried rolling back to my old ROM (Blue Elves) but the problem persists...
Do you think maybe another Radio version would help?
The new ROM I installed had the latest Radio version and still, same problem... I'm stuck with a phone that has no signal...
Can anyone help?

even am having this problem of not receiving calls.....i even tried a radio ROM upgrade but still the problem exists...damn irritated....any solution for this?

Maybe CPU don not support. All functions well, but when I connect wireless, Bluetooth and GSM (long call), mine friezes. I have no solution.

Same problem for me too.
I even took my phone to my provider and they messed around with the IPL, SPL and ROM but still could not figure out what's wrong. I get txt msgs (didn't bother trying outgoing) and I can connect EDGE and GPRS but can't make or receive any phone calls.
I did notice sometimes the phone searches for a network but can't find it (even when locked to my provider).
This has to be a common problem. All other functions on the phone works fine.
Please if any of you find a solution, share it with the rest.

Onix Light Version Rom Cooked by myself.
FOR ELF/ELFIN
This version cooked by myself solve the problem of unexpected shut down on 50% and 30% of the battery. A ONYX JR. 4.1.4 (Lighter) was cooked with the last radio IPL & SPL.
I have tested about 20 different Roms and I found some stability in a HTC Touch ELF with this cooked ROM. Similar problems occurred with various IPL & SPL and radio versions.
I supposed the hard code for this OMAP850 with speed of 201MHZ is too heavy for all the functions working at the same time. With some rom versions the battery goes down like 20% in 10 minutes with All radio functions (wi-fi, BT, GSM). I supposed it´s solved.
Mine is working for 3 days without reset.

HD Sound problem during the Call

I Bought My Touch HD last month from QATAR, after two days I discovered that while making a call and after a while ( 2 to 5 minutes) the other party will start to complain that he cant hear my voice while I still can hear him clearly, and then after a while the sound will return to normal and he will be able to hear me clearly again !!!! this is repeated every 2 to 5 minutes during the call !!!!
I went to the dealer and exchanged the device with a new one, what surprised me is I encountered the same problem again after one week and I dont know what to do !!!!! I am currently visiting the family in the states and still have the same problem on T Mobile using a local SIM Card !!!
PLease help, does anybody have the same problem ? please advice

I bought mine from Qatar, now I updated to ROM 1.19 Black Pearl by Pinosha and still testing as the problem sometimes dissapear and then comes back after few days and lasts for a long time !!! but I have noticed that no body is interested in this problem !!! maybe we are the only people that have it !!!

when i got my new phone i got a new simcard that better supported the 3G functions than my 5year old one.

I had a couple of times people couldn't hear me..
I thought it was caused by the way I was holding the device. The Mic is on the bottom end the phone.. I sometimes put my finger on the mic.
Next time when it occurs again.. check you're not blocking the mic with you finger..

try setting the cellular network on GSM only on the phone, when the reception is bad and 3G doesnt work, i think you have these kind of problems when you are in a call...

In most cases it is due to people closing the mic with their finger when talking..the mic hole is placed in a bad position...

Same problem for me but i think i have the reason why. I think the change to 3G or EDGE when in call is the problem. I have this problem everytime when i get a new mail. Is that possible? And how to fix it? :confused
Same when i load the wether while in call....

Maybe this is the problem, but my device sometimes connect via Edge and I dont know why and when i disconnect it, it will connect again !!! I dont know how to stop the data connection and prevent the device from auto connection !! I want to disable all data connection and keep the MMS working only !!!

I live in the US and use my HD on Tmobile and dont have 3G, only Edge is working !

HP Ipaq hw6940/6945 freezing? How to install another OS ?

I own HP Ipaq hw6940/6945 Mobile Messenger, without SIM card phone works just fine, but when I put the SIM card in, in a few minutes system start to freeze, programs won’t open, calling or even entering the messages menu isn’t possible. I also did a soft and hard reset, but no effect. The only thing I can do when freezing is a soft reset, and when it reboots, it freeze again, then I do reset again, and so on. How to fix this problem?? Or at least does anyone know how to install another operating system (Windows Mobile 5 is idle) ??

Have you tried the HP ROM update?
I don't think you will find another OS for the 64X5 here... Search the forum and you'll see that... You can try to burn the official ROM update. Below is the link for the English language, but you have others available too...

if u r looking 4 rom update of the 6900 please first read "no gsm" posts regarding this device
why do u think update will help?
have u checked different sim? (also 1 form different cellular company )
have u tried cleaning your sim?
have u checked the sim location if it is ok?
have u tried HR?
(testing with no apps)
your device is sim free?
have u tried different regional settings ?
are u using 3g sim?

Hi there,
When I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T, I suddenly got a terrible noise in my 6945's phone calls, and the caller volume is much lower (too quiet now )
Would a 3G SIM cause this problem? I didn't have a 3G SIM card before this. AT&T doesn't offer 2G SIM cards, but I could check on eBay or something if you think this may be the problem.
H-fox: Have you tried a different battery, or running on a charger to see if the battery might be the problem?

backup your device then HR and check if it is ok
im usingsim from israel 2g and 3g with no issues but i know on some sim there are issues so cannot say...

I've hard reset it 3 times since switching to AT&T, no change.
Also could it be from using an after-market battery? I had no problems on T-Mobile with the battery though. I no longer have the original battery.

i know there are issues on the 6900 when using unorig battery but what i have seen was radio issues like wifi or device "sleeps" (need sr 2 wake up)
have u tried 2 set volume 2 max during a call?
make a phone call and during that call setting the volume?
do u use profile app? (have u tried after the hr or first u installed things)
can u try different region setting like from english us 2 uk (not setting the time )

I haven't reinstalled anything yet. It doesn't seem to matter if there's software installed or not though. Actually, I have reinstalled Flexmail, but that's all.
I've turned the in-call volume up all the way, but it's a combination of static in the phone (sometimes I hear it, sometimes the other end hears it, sometimes we both do), and weak volume level.
It really makes me hate my phone now, and I really don't like calling people, because of the embarrassing noise, and because I have to ask them to repeat themselves often.
I will try to find a 2G SIM card locally or on eBay or something, to see if that helps. This is really terrible though. The phone was perfect on T-Mobile (well aside from the annoying things HP won't admit it that it does), but as soon as I switched over to AT&T, it became terrible.

I tried to run all 3. The GSM and DST fixes installed without problems.
The ROM update gave me the error that it's not compatible with my IPAQ.

The letters are all the same, the difference is the capitalization and the position of the # and - characters.
I don't know if it matters that I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with Sync Center. I have a Win XP laptop I could setup a partnership on if you think that makes a difference?

this update is GSM Radio Firmware Update (Radio- phone,wifi,bt on some devices also gps )
use only xp os!!!
(no 1 told hp there are os like vista and win7 , lots of updates gone bad due 2...)
FA743A or FA754A are not fa745a
check with hp support may be they have one 4 your device id
u can also try this one but as i told u use only XP&AS

I had a similar problem, it was my SIM Card.
Try also flash a standard rom from htc, then flash other that you want.

Do a Task 29 (see guide in sticky), then restore default rom & SPL. Once you've done this follow Dummies Guide (see guide in sticky) and flash your desired rom
This should hopefully help your signal/reception. If not, then it's a faulty sim

I assume you get good signal on a different handset? As this could confirm (or not) the SIM card being at fault as advised by MJRL.
I had problems with signal on Orange many years ago, I went into the Orange shop, they tested the SIM and they just gave me a new SIM - all worked fine then.

I was on a cal and suddenly it ended up.then i saw tat thr was no network.dono y all of a sudden my network went down.thn restarted the phone many times and stil the status shows as 'Phone Off'......after tat i had hard resetted the phone.stil my phone does not recognize the network signals..i dono wat to do.is it any hardware problem in my phone or i hav to do anything with internal softwares....

perhaps somebody can help me, too. I've similar the same problem like Sridhar Rajan. My network signal lost the most time.
I bought my I8000 (second hand) by the net a few month ago. First time I think everything is o.k. till I recognized that nobody call me. The look on the phone, let me see that I have no network signal most time at different places outside and inside.
So I take a e-mail to the Samsung-Support. They communicate me that I take a Full reset with the *2767*3855# Code. So I do so, but nothing happens. At the second time I give it to the Service-Center in my town. After 2 month it came back to me, not repaired with the notice that the phone comes from Malaysia and Samsung give no garanty in such a fall. I take another try an send it to another Service of Samsung. 2 weeks later it comes back with the notice, not repaired because the phone is not for the european market.
I read a lot of threads in many foren, but the right answer for my problem i didn't found. I read that somebody change the mainboard and everything was o.k. Somebody use the wrong hole on the phone for reset and damaged the antenna. Perhaps the old owner do so, but now I have change the antenna to a new one and it's not better.
I flash the Software/Firmware from WM 6.5 (so I bought it) to WM 6.1, to Android Froyo an at this time to WM 6.5.3.
The first Software was I8000NXXIJ9 (WM 6.5), than I8000NXXJJ1 (WM 6.5) (latest for the european market), than I8000XXIH5 (WM 6.1) and today the I8000NXXJE1 (WM 6.5.3).
At this time I didn't now, what I can do also.
What is the different for a phone which ist for the european market and which not. I think it is a Quad-Band-Phone which worked at the most places in the world.
