I have tried to search and find what to do to install a theme that has icons, and cannot figure it out. Do I need some program that everyone is using? Also on dialer skins how are those installed?
Do skins kill battery life or use alot of system resources?

What theme? If its HTC home, you install the .cab file from the phone or sync the phone to pc and double click .exe.
If its a .tsk file, Put the file in the windows directory of the phone then go to today screen and select from there.
Skins dont use a lot of system resources UNLESS they are actively doing something( S2U2 for example if you install a moving gif as your wallpaper) as they are just being used instead of the originals.. Cheers...
yea, u need to be a wee bit more clear as to what you want, you're probably new and dont know the right terms, so maybe if you posted some pics we could understand a bit better what u are trying to achieve.

I think that I will need a plug in to show the icons. I installed a tsk theme but it only changed the color of the top and bottom bars, but did not show the large clock or icons like that one. I saved it to the memory card, not within a folder and I was able to browse find and install it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

that big clock is the htc home plugin, which you can download all over this forum, or at www.pocketemu.com which incidentally also has another program called htc home customizer, which would be the easiest way to customize the home icons. It may not have that exact theme you are looking for, so the best way to get that theme is to ask the person who posted that screenshot

the home plugin is downloadable through the plugin, and as the title says it is fully customizable. You'll probably find that font/style here.

The HTC Home Customizer must be installed onto your device first. once installed, you will have the option of changing your HTC Home screen's theme/appearance, icons, clocks, even weather icons, but you must install first. Only through the HTC home customizer, you will be able to download that appearance.

i imported the iphone icons into the spb pocket plus icon folder but i cant use the icons..what am i doing wrong?
Those iphone icons were made for Pocket Plus 3. The PP4 format is a .dat file with separate files for the icons and masks. It won't work.
Also, the Vista icons posted here are not for VGA devices.

For the vista icons, I was under the impression that the device used was qvga because VGA wasn't mentioned. .

Aboinger, I am also interested in exploring Ultimate Launcher. Your Athena Ultimate Launcher Interface looks so nice. How did you do that? Can you explain step by step. Cos I also installed Ultimate Launcher, but Ultimate Launcher can only slide from right to left or vice versa, functions like the "easy shortcut". But Ultimate Launcher cannot move up and down.
Landscape is supported and works perfectly fine...
my ultimate launcher is also limited from side to side / fade animations
when you are in the tabs option and hit create new it should give you an option to add in plugins / shortcuts
what exactly did u need help with id be more than happy to help

I know this is a thread to demo the UL (which I just got put on two days ago....awesome software). But boinger, I notice that you have flames on your S2U2. One: where did you get that animated background for it? Second: your S2U2 looks as if it was designed for VGA....mine looks like a stretched QVGA screen. How can i get mine crisp like yours?

and about S2U2 i changed the graphics for vga.. you can do that simply by editing the .png's
i just changed the clock files to be honest.
and in real vga mode the slider doesnt work. so i enabled dpad support cause the screen mapping is off.
i can send you the flames gif... i got it off another member and edited it for vga.
You said editing the png's. Does that mean you changed the icons themselves, or you adjusted the values of the png to fit VGA? Just a little confused on that. Or all together, did you edit the pngs in a software such as Adobe Photoshop? If that is the case I might have to ask are you willing to share....thats a little over my head.

What sort of icon format does ultimatelaunch accept. Is it only ico? What about png format?

you can use 32bit xp icons though.. so they look just as nice... only dillema is you have to convert most icons from .png

I'm struggling a little with the "not activated" signs in the corner. I have registered this app, and entered the code twice. Soft-reset. After a couple of minutes and some navigation, they reappear.
I searched for some answers, and it seems there isnt a fixed from what I was able to find.
Anybody else having this annoyance!!

I think I have the wrong version of S2U2. I just took the WM5 version that I used for my x51v. I say this because, I cant use gif. as a wallpaper for it. I'm assuming that I might not have the most current version.
Lastly, I have been trying to incorporate your icons, but for some reason UL will not show them when I select them. I can only use the default icons that come with them.
Any ideas!!!
I don't seem to be able to enter text for the application icon, although I can see that the config icon has a description.
What is the trick to enter this text?
I'm also unable to choose tab icon. Does tab icon got to meet certain criteria for them to work?

For this you have to click the with text button (next to the xp32 icon)

set the icon size to 72 x 72 that should work..
UL wont show icons unless they are the proper size...

Simple question here, although i'm not so sure anyone will have all this. I'm basically looking for a collection of icons (more than just a few) so i can pick and choose which I like and which I wanna use on my wing. I am using HTC Home and I figured I was able to change the icons on my today screen by just replacing the ones currently in my phone. I know there's tons of roms and themes so what i'm wondering is if someone has icons from a bunch of different ones. Basically any icons in general would be good. For instance, the icons on the Shadow. iPhone icons. HTC Home icons. Glass icons. Stuff like that. I know there's a bunch out there.

you can just put whatever you want into the HTC Home folder on your phone with the appropriate name. i'll try and upload the customizer again in my thread

There are many All encompassing apps that totally take over your today screen. I like to pick and choose little apps.
One I'm missing is a sliding program launcher. One that allows me to pick the programs that are on it.

dont kno if this will work with touchflow but sounds like what you want... its a grate today plugin, you can add any file on your device and Every file on your device if you choose, its called elecont launcher.. you can pick one line or many:

Why don't you use ThrottleLauncher? . It can take as much today screen as you want . If you wanna give it a try I can make a theme that just contain a single row of program icons... (It can even scroll horizontally).
Edit: done . To install just install ThrottleLaucher (see my signature). No need to install any theme, just the ThrottleLauncher cab. Then create a setups file inside the ThrottleLauncher folder and unzip the file inside that folder.
The structure will be:
ProgramFiles\ThrottleLauncher\Setups\LauncherRow
Select that theme in ThrottleConfig and you should be ready to go .

It's using the standar icons from the system, so their size is 32x32 (or 64x64 in VGA)... You can though change the icons asociated to the applications by using the ThrottleConfig 3rd tab and then the icons will "grow" .
but in config, "today" only 2 tabs appear: "info" and General
General only asks how many rows I want

It IS possible, but I'll let one of the more experienced people here tell you exactly how (I'm not well-versed on the process.....yet).
But, in the meantime, would you be willing to zip up your icon collection and sharing it? I'm always looking for new icons to use...I can already replace them on the slider bar, next thing to learn is the program ones

536 icons in total (although there are a few duplicates - I mean 2 different icons for the same program).

The question of how easy it is depends on which OS you're running... if it's 6.5 I recommend using JWMD's Icon Changer, but many recommend Showaco's reSTART. The 'how to' instructions for each app can be found in that thread I just linked.
If it's 6.1 it's more cumbersome as you have to edit the link. I don't bother with it and instead customize whatever shell I'm using at the time.
