Verizon - Mogel on Verizon-How to get EVDO to work? - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have a Mogel (PPC6800) that I made work on Verizon (thanks to many fine posters here).
I convinced the techs to add my ESN but they say the data won't ever work. I know that someone here, that is smarter than I am, will be able to prove them wrong. I have copied everything that is editable from my XV6700 into the EX-Mogel now XV6800 but it still doesn't work yet.
Please someone with some smarts guide me to what needs to be done. It looks like the following items MAY be what is keeping me from being able to access it:
* The NAI is blank on the M.IP Customer Profile 1 screen.
*I don't know what to put in the HDR AN AUTH Password Location (the contents are scrambled)
*On M.IP Default Profile, the DUN NAI info is blank.
* On M.IP Default Profile, the HA Shared secret is :Secret and the AAA shared Secret is: scrambled text.
*On all the other screens, the HA shared Secret and the AAA shared secret is blank.
Other than these unknowns (unknown because I don't know if any of these are important) Everything looks the same as my XV6700.
hopefully, someone will know these answers and can help all of us move the cheaper Mogels to Verizon. I say cheaper because Mogels are $150 - $225 less than XV6800s on Ebay.
Other post shows exactly how to move the voice portion of the phone over with relative ease but the DATA?????
Thanks

Atom Exec in the USA - Please Help Me

I live in the US and have just bought an o2 Atom Exec. I have T-Mobile as my carrier but my Atom can not keep the signal for more than a few minutes at a time. The configuration Wizard can't help because it doesn't show the US as an option. I try to select T-Mobile but even when I am connected it won't show the name of the network. I am very upset - I spent alot of money on this phone but I can't use it. Can someone please help me configure it to connect to the T-Mobile Network?
I also have T-Mobile (USA) and have used these settings on a I-Mate Jam and now an Atom Life. It took me a while to gather this information, but now everything is working perfect. Here are all the network settings:
Connections: My ISP (Start->Settings->Connections)
Add new modem conection-> name->T-Zones
Cellular line (GPRS)
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User, Pass., Domain: leave blank
Advanced: no change
Connections: My ISP (Start->Settings->Connections)
Add new modem conection-> name->PictureMessaging
Cellular line (GPRS)
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User, Pass., Domain: leave blank
Advanced: no change
Connections: My Work Network
Set up my Proxy Server: Check both boxes
Proxy Server: 216.155.165.50
Advanced:
HTTP: 216.155.165.50:8080
WAP: 216.155.165.50:9201
Socks: 216.155.165.50:1080
Connections: My Work Network
Add new modem conection-> name->T-Mobile WAP
Cellular line (GPRS)
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User, Pass., Domain: leave blank
Advanced: no change
This will give you Internet browsing, access to T-Zones (in Internet Explorer the address you need to type is: wsp://wap.myvoicestream.com) and MMS capabilities
For MMS, you also need to set the following:
In Messaging, choose options, then MMS
In the Servers tab, create a new configuration called PictureMessaging
with the following settings:
Gateway: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Server: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: My ISP
This should work for any WM device and T-Mobile USA.
Have fun!
You are so cool, frenchygeek. I am very grateful for your reply and all your help. I made all the changes you recommended, except that I can not figure out how to add MMS because in Messaging options MMS is not listed. I can't add it because it requires an email address to add an account. Can you walk me through that?
I also found somewhere in this forum instructions to make a registry entry to change the default network to my local network. Now it no longer comes up trying to run the Wizard (with my default as Austraila with every soft reset. Do you need that information? (I am in my office but once I am home I can send it if you like.)
Anyway, I made some of these changes earlier today and the ones above just 5 minutes ago ... so now I'll see what happens. Thank you SOOOO much.

Cinamon,
Go to Start->Messaging or Start->Programs->Messaging or click on the Messaging line on the "Today" screen.
When in there, you may have a selection screen with the various messaging options you may have such as Text Message, MMS, Outlook or your corporate or personal email. Click on MMS. If you don't have this screen, then go to the next step.
Click on Menu->Tools->Options
At the screen which says "Tap an account to change settings", click on MMS. You will see 4 tabs (Preferences, Blacklist, Servers, About). Go to the server tab and make the changes that I outlined in my previous post. Accept everything, close and do a soft reset.
Voila!
BTW, yes, I would be interested in the information regarding the change on the register to place T-Mobile as a default provider. I never got around to do that.
Merci beaucoup.
Hi again, FrenchyGeek,
I'm so grateful to you - I have been begging for help from the manufacturer and the distributor but you and the other forum member are the only two sources of help I've had. Seems like someone else would be desparate for this information too.
I'm still not sure about MMS - MMS does not show up in options on my phone. I finally got to the MMS settings screen by going to the messaging screen of one of my email accounts, clicking on GOTO, choosing MMS (it does appear there) and then choosing tools -> options. It is not set up as yours is - I have to fill in :
Active Profile (A dropdown but I choose NEW)
From there I have to fill in
Profile Name:
MMSC: I typed in http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Data Connection: (a drop down and I choose T Mobile)
Gateway: (a drop down with only WAP1.0 Gateway and WAP2.0 Gateway to choose from)
IP Address: (I typed in 216.155.174.84)
Port: (I typed in 8080)
Do you think that will work?
OK, default networkconfiguration:
In the HKCU/AutoConfig/Network, find XPath string n change it to your network operator number. You can see your operator number (5 digits usually - mine was 31026) when you launch autoconfig, next to the "Detected from SIM" text. You can also see the operator number from the DetectNet or NetworkID keys in HKCU/AutoConfig/Network.
I still have trouble with it dropping signal or trying to connect to Australia. I wonder if there is anyway to delete all the overseas configurations so it can't find them again. Also, I drop signal everytime I connect via USB to my PC. Do you have these issues?
Another annoyance - the battery doesn't last long for me at all - I am definitely a power user, which is why I wanted the higher processing speed which lead me to the Atom Exec in the first place. Are there any extended batteries that you're aware of?
Thanks alot!
Susan
Thanks again.
Hello Cinamon,
I am using the new O2 Atom Life and I installed the WM6 ROM upgrade. Are you still on WM5? That may explain the differences, although I'm not sure why the MMS profile doesn't show up on yours.
The screen where you can find this is the first screen that shows up when you click on "Options" in "Messaging". It says "Options" at the top, "Tap an account to change settings" below, with a square containing "New Account...", "Text Messages", "MMS", "Outlook E-Mail", and possibly other accounts if you set them up yourself. Below are two buttons: "Security..." and "Signature...". The only way to properly set up MMS is to click "MMS" on this screen and then follow the procedure in my previous posts.
I also have an "Autoconfigurator" which shows the countries that are supported (Australia, Bahrain, China, etc.) but it doesn't launch automatically. When you go through a hard reset, it asks you if you want to run it, but you have the option to say no. After that, it doesn't come back. If it's in the ROM, I don't think you can delete it.
I don't have any of the problems you outlined. My phone actually works really well, except for one major flaw. I don't get the voicemail notification icon to show up when I have a new voicemail. I only get the missed call icon (if my phone is on). I opened a separate thread on this site but got no help so far. By searching on this site and others, I can tell that some WM phones have such a problem depending on the Tel-Co, but I can't seem to find the solution. Do you have any problem with that feature?
If you Google "O2 Atom battery", you can find after market batteries that actually provide longer charge. They void the warranty, so be careful.
Thanks for the default network configuration! What software do you use to edit the registry?
Take care!
Still No Luck
Hi Frenchygeek,
I have no problem with voicemail (on the few times my phone connects).
I use SKTools for editing the registry. Sometimes I use a freeware register editor which can only be used from your PC - I can send you that if you like. I know alot of people use Commander (also Freeware) but for me these two programs are more friendly, and SKTools has lots of tweaks and other cool utilities.
My phone is the Atom Exec and there is no update at the moment for WM6 so I am stuck with WM5. I can not get my phone to stay connected for more than 5 minutes at a time. It drops the line over and over again and is really unusable (except for games and mp3s etc ... smile ....) I thought I might reset to factory settings and begin again with your instructions but I can't find the option to do a hard reset - do you know how to do that? I am very frustrated as it was expensive and it's useless to me as is. I asked the seller if I could exchange or upgrade it and I'm waiting for his answer. Maybe the Life with WM6 would do the trick. Anyway, I have had no service at all for about 6 hours although I have tried every trick in the book and then some. Are you using code 31026 or are you in a different region in the US? (I am in Virginia)
Thanks again for your help.
Susan
Hey,
To hard reset, you need to press the stylus in the reset hole at the bottom of the phone while you press on the on/off button. Keep it this way until you see a message on the screen, which asks you to confirm the hard reset by pressing the green and red button simultaneously.
I think that it will do the trick. My Atom Life works perfectly fine with T-Mobile. I'm in California and my Tel-Co number is also 31026. It shows up on the Auto Configurator screen ("Detected from SIM: 31026").
If it wasn't for the lack of voicemail notification icon, I would be happy. I'm tempted to reinstall WM5 and see if that makes a difference. But I read that WM6 is so much better than WM5, so I really don't know what to do. Support at O2 basically gave me the finger. They said their phones are intended for the Asian Market...
Anyway, the Atom Life is a more recent phone compared to the Exec. It's a little bigger, but the specs are much better. It's much more expensive though...(I paid a little over $800 for mine).
Have fun!
Hello Again FrenchyGeek,
I did a hard reset and put all the settings in that you gave me, reset the autoconfig to 31026, and things are much better. I still lose signal a few times every hour but it does usually recover quickly, although there are times when I have to manually search for the signal as the phone doesn't do the search itself.
I do need to do something about the battery, however, and will follow your suggestion. I use the phone as an MP3 player and the battery drains in a couple of hours.
It must be frustrating that no one can help you with the voice mail problem. My voicemail notification works perfectly. Wish I could help. If you can think of a way for me to search my registry for the right setting let me know and I'll give it a try.
I still don't understand why the O2 company is not more responsive to us Americans .... it's a big market for them to tap into.
Susan
Hi Cinamon,
Just got an idea for the problem you're experiencing.
Under Start->Settings->Connections, I have a program called Band Switch.
In there you can select your network type: Auto, GSM, UTMS
And you can select your Band: Any, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, UMTS 1900 and UMTS 2100.
If you have such a program, try to play around with the settings and see if it makes a difference. It's possible that you when you lose the signal temporarily the phone gets lost. If you force it to a certain band, then it might be more stable.
I don't know for sure, but it's worth a try.
Cheers
Hi Frencygeek,
I do have such a setting and I have repeatedly set it to 1900 (because that's what T-Mobile operates on) but it continually resets itself to tri-band. I wonder if anyone here can tell me how to make 1900 the default. I notice that it connects to GPRS but I have no phone service - although I can check my email and browse the web. In those cases I have to manually go into settings and tell it to connect to t-zones under my ISP. I think somehow it is defaulting to the YES OPUS settings of Australia everytime it loses signal, and I don't know how to direct it to my settings. Maybe I should try a new thread and see if anyone can help, although it does seem that support for those of us in the Western Hemisphere is sadly lacking.
As for your voice mail, I'm sure this is too obvious to suggest, but have you tried changing the notification type? Maybe a different ringtone or change to vibrate or play with that? Strange that is the one feature that works for me - but I certainly need it since no one can call me at least 50% of the time.
I do own an MDA and if I were not so hard headed I would use that ... but I'm having a hard time giving up as I do like the phone (and did spend $500 on it, although it came with extras like a miniSD card, bluetooth headset, etc.
Hello Cinamon,
Someone else in another thread suggested that I upgrade the Radio Rom to version 2.69.11 or 2.19.11. I have done some research and found that it should work with T-Mobile. The only problem is, I don't know where to find a radio rom that will work with my Atom Life and I don't know how to install it. I have read too many horrors stories about people "bricking" their phone after trying to flash their ROM. So, I'm a little hesitant, but I would do it if someone answer both my questions. Also, I don't know what version of radio rom I have. On WM6, System information looks different. My Radio version says: "AL1-KLNC-2.3.40CT-070424-2. I have no idea what that means.
Which brings me to my other suggestion for your problem. Maybe you could update your radio rom and things might just start working for you. Just a suggestion!
Hmmm .... I'm willing to try ... but how do I find an upgrade for my Radio Rom? I see there is an upgrade for the Atom Exec - in Chinise only. ;->
Any luck with voicemail?
Hi Again,
I have tried the band but still I lose signal much too often and it still takes forever to establish a connection again. Worse, it often shows the E in the top bar, which makes me think I have phone service, only to discover that I have only GPRS and have missed a bunch of calls. I contacted the person I bought it from and asked for an exchange - he does not sell the Life but I offered to pay the difference to upgrade to the Orbit, which has a quad band. I'm still awaiting his reply.
Any luck with your voice mail?
Susan
hi cin,
the o2 atom exec are only tri band gsm. i live in apac and had a similar problem over here when i bought a smartphone in the US. it was because carriers still prefer the lower frequency gsm as a default. coverage for the higher freq was spotty for me even when i forced a freq. check with t mobile
by the way, i have an atom exec and when i am in the US i am on cingular and have no issues with dropping. sorry.

Telus and MMS... It can be done!!... sorta

well, as the title implies, I have managed to get some of the mms features working on a telus titan phone
NOTE: as of yet I haven't been able to receive picture messages, but I can send them.
here's how I did it:
1. download then install the attached cab
2. under options -> advanced, then click the manual button and enter the following settings:
MMS Gateway: http://216.198.139.113
MMS URL: http://mmsfeplb01.int.eng.telusmobility.com:8088/mms
select which ever network profile you use for internet
and VOILA!!! half of the problem is solved... now if only someone could figure out how to receive them we'd be set, but I suspect that telus employs some means of the message being redireccted to their horrible online app to view the photos... which at present time, isn't displaying photos and they expire without me seeing them... good old telus, giving users the cutting edge while cutting out user support and features.
P.S. not too bad for my second post on these forums eh?
have you tried it using arcsoft mms and the same server settings?

haven't been able to duplicate the results on arcsoft... I'm new to this whole MMS thing, is there anyway to run a trace and see how this program is doing what is does?
Well as you said it does work for sending, the receiving portion however, I don't believe you will be able to do it since TELUS' MMSC server is programmed not to forward MMS' to phones that have a specific user profile such as the P4000, instead is supposed to send you a net alert and have the pictures forwarded to telusmobility.com/snap.
Unless you somehow get someon to modify your user profile in the MMSC provisioning, there should be no carrier settings or registry tweaks that could help you out, unlike other carriers.
However, why don't you just log into telusmobility.com/snap, go to preferences and set it to forward a copy to your e-mail address. I assume you use e-mail on your p4000 and this will achieve relatively the same thing...
While we are at it, although it is much more convenient to naturaly MMS someone with ther telephone number, you could just e-mail them a picture to their phone, thus using your data plan and not having to pay 25 cents per picture message...

this should send it straight to a regular phone's wap browser and you just need to get the corresponding email address for Rogers, Bell and Fido

I've recently discovered that the e-mail forwarding function only works when receiving MMS sent from a Telus phone. MMS sent from other networks cannot be decrypted correctly so they're not forwarded to the specified email address.
The "save to album" also doesn't do anything. I've checked my photo album at https://photoalbum.telusmobility.com/index.asp . It looks like the site is still under construction or maybe it's just plain crappy. Nothing was saved there from my photo messages.
All and all, I'm very disappointed in Telus in handling (blocking) MMS. I'm searching for a working SMS2Email (or MMS2Email) services now. This way the person sending you the MMS can send it to your email instead. If anyone knows one that works in Canada, Please let me know. I really need to receive MMS somehow, and not on the crappy Telus Snap site (seriously, are they kidding?!?!?!).
Sorry to bump an old thread
This worked great for sending, but has anybody figured out a way to recieve yet?
I just installed it, used the telus server settings as described, but all mms keep getting rejected by server. I definitely double-checked the addys... anyone else follow these instucs with no joy?

Make sure you always have a subject or it will be rejected.

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried these settings on Android. I can't make it work, and I've made sure to set a subject on the messages. I don't expect much of a response, but I thought I may as well give it a shot.

Because Snap doesn't work right. Never has. When the wife and I first got the HTC S720, a Telus tech tried to get her going on Snap... even pics HE sent to it never showed up. With mine, maybe 30% of pictures sent to me ever arrive at Snap, let alone get forwarded on.
Furthermore, viewing in Snap itself has always been an exercise in futility. The password is about 2,000 characters long; the only way to effectively enter it is cut-and-paste. The only way to get it is to have the server email it to you, and the last time I did that (after I flashed my phone and lost the password), the password *never* arrived. I requested it four times, and never got a response.
And IF you do get a long, the pictures you get there are tiny. My wife ended up returning the S720 and getting a KRZR, so she could do MMS properly... she sent me 1.3MP pictures that only ever showed up as QVGA on the Snap site.

I've tried this with Rogers and Fido phones... the recipient gets a text message from my phone's email address, containing a string with the picture's filename, but not the actual picture.
Frankly, Telus's implentation of this is uttery broken and always has been. I've heard a dozen different "explanations" of why MMS won't work on their phones, and every one of them rings as bull$#!t. The most common one for them to give is simply that "no PDA-type phones support it", which I shoot down immediately with the fact that my Rogers Treo does it just fine.
When my wife's contract is up in another 16 months or so, I know she's planning to jump to Rogers so she can get a Blackberry and still do her picture messaging. Telus will lose a 20-year customer if they don't fix this issue; they will have NO chance of keeping her if they don't get MMS working. My contract will be up a year after that, and I won't be far behind her.
Hate to bother, but where is this "options" to put in the information. How do you get to it from the today screen?
Okay, trying this... but I get a "Not enough memory to complete this operation" message when I try to send even the smallest picture. I'm showing 51MB free RAM and 8.8MB free device storage memory...

Look for a new "SMS" icon in your Programs... launch that, click Menu on the right softkey, then Options... go to Advanced tab.
There must be more info required there... maybe the OP could share his settings for Message Center and Email Center numbers?
HOLY CRAP, IT WORKS!!!!
Well, partly... like the OP, I can send, but not receive (yet). The Palm app doesn't want to run on my Omnia (I get the "out of memory" error), but an older Arcsoft install (PPCGeeksSprintMMS) does.
I followed the time-honored hack for that one to enable the server editing (HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\EnableServerEdit -> change 0 to 1), then plugged the OP's server settings into the config:
MMS -> Menu -> MMS Configuration -> Servers -> tap the server name to edit -> enter full Gateway and Server Address entries listed above, Connect via: The Internet, WAP: WAP 2.0 (Port will change to 80).
Now, Arcsoft, at least this version of it, is pretty clunky and doesn't integrate quite as nicely as the Palm app - the Palm one actually re-retrieved the last couple weeks' worth of incoming SMS messages as well(!!). This one keeps a separate inbox that so far is extraneous.
Update: okay, it worked... like, TWICE. I tried replacing the clunky ancient version of Arcsoft with a newer version and I haven't been able to get it to go since. I've even done a hard-reset and reinstalled it all clean... went through a bout of not being able to remove the WM6_threaded app as well.
If the OP is still reading this... could you maybe post your related registry keys? Thinking there must be some other string that I need, something that's either incorrect or missing... *sigh*
So near, yet so far away...

MetroPCS Carrier cab needed, or help PLEASE

Okay, this might be something someone has a quick simple solutin for or a long tedious solution, either way I need help please
I flashed my phone over to DCD 3.2.6 Base w/Round 4 Reloaded, everything was great until I flashed the carrier cab... there isn't one for MetroPCS so I used what the phone was, Sprint... and now I have no internet =(
Can ANYONE Help?
Bump for help
Here is a Metro carrier cab i made.
Automated Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft CABs for Windows Mobile CDMA Devices.
Motorola Q's DO NOT support Arcsoft so DO NOT install those CABs, you may only use the Carrier CAB..
I have added a new Version 5.2.32.2R1 and added Metros changes to my old (original) CABs.
1: Please delete/overwrite/rename the IOTA folder in device memory/program files (if exists, usually stock ROMs)
2: Please delete the HTC Guardian shortcut or equivalent from device memory/windows/startup folder (if exists, usually stock ROMs) and reboot your device.
3: Install my Security Policy Lifter CAB (you may or may not need this depending on the ROM you use) and reboot your device.
4: Now choose a CAB to install your options and explanations are below. Obviously reboot your device after installation.
The HTC Titan MMS Fix versions I only found needed on a HTC Titan with a Stock ROM. Most custom ROMs including Mine dont have the Default Connection string issue. MMS always works.. So you can user the "Other" versions if using a Titan with a custom ROM or another WM CDMA device. The Metro Carrier CAB is for people that just want to set up their data Connection on Metro PCS *it is not required for my cabs that have WAP in the name* . You dont have to do anything but install. No deleting any registry settings or connections for all of these CABs! They do all the work for you.
For the CABs with WAP or the Carrier CAB all you have to do after reboot is make sure phone is unplugged and open internet explorer. Navigate to a real page like yahoo.com and a prompt will come up. Enter your [email protected] and password is "metropcs" lowercase and no quotes. Blank domain, click save password. Then OK, or Done.
If you are going to try several of them just make sure to uninstall old CAB before new one. Easy.
Also if you are going to use these for another Carrier just remember that each Arcsoft of mine has the MetroPCS SetMdn fix in the start up folder. It woulnt hurt you but may as well get rid of it if not using Metro PCS.
"HTC Titan" MMS Fix including Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft 5.0.70.24 <--Sets up Data Connection and Installs Arcsoft for Metro PCS, uses Titan MMS fix to delete default connection string.
"HTC Titan" MMS Fix including Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft 5.2.32.2R1 <--Sets up Data Connection and Installs Arcsoft for Metro PCS, uses Titan MMS fix to delete default connection string.
"Other" Windows Mobile CDMA devices Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft 5.0.70.24 <--Sets up Data Connection and Installs Arcsoft for Metro PCS.
"Other" Windows Mobile CDMA devices Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft 5.2.32.2R1 <--Sets up Data Connection and Installs Arcsoft for Metro PCS.
Make sure that after installing an Arcsoft CAB that you dont fall victim to the WAP type bug this link will explain what happens and what it is and how to fix it.
Ryan Mogul Metro PCS Carrier CAB <--Just sets up your Metro PCS Data Connection
These CABs totally blow away any others created before. I spent a lot of time on these. A little taste of everything for everyone. Here is the other great thing about these CABs and they are the first of its kind. You do not have to edit your registry first! You do not have to delete any existing Data Connections! My CABs take care of all that work.
For example when I tested my new method out I created a few dummy connections using my phone. I also went into the registry HKLMS arcsoft and added a bunch of bogus keys. I then changed my connection to one of the bogus ones. Top and Bottom networks were bogus. Then I installed my Cricket WAP and Arcsoft 5_0_31_7 (non Titan Fix version my ROMs dont need default connection fix to operate properly). The CAB totally deleted all existing connections with the exception of the ones that are supposed to be there. My work network, secure wap, internet, my isp etc.. And it installed the data connection ready to activate using the browser like normal. Then I checked the Arcsoft keys and the bogus ones were gone. Everything was how its supposed to be.
The point is with all of these CABs you dont have to do anything but install to device memory and sit back let it do all the work. Absolutely great!
If it doesnt install soft reset your device and try again. Do not check messages first just reboot and install.
If it still doesnt install try another CAB, your Stock NOOB ROM is probably affecting your ability to install such CABs.
Your the man Ryan!!!!
Ryan.... you may have saved my bacon, player. I'm about to throw your CAB on and see what happens.

Well, you got me one step closer. I can now send emails via Gmail but still not internet. I check all my setting and I'm fairly sure I've got them set correctly. Any ideas? Whenever I try to hit IE, it dials the #777 connection I set up and it says connecting... then locating.... then... this page can't be opened because the connection has been lost. I updated my PRL (i believe it's 2002). Any ideas?
Thanks again.

Where did you find this ROM? His site is down and I can't find it anywhere?
He just moved his site, R4R Loaded http://www.sskusers.com/Titan.html
I followed those and they all come back broken.
Wow!! I found a copy of R4R.... omfg... it's so sick. I love it. the interface is so dope. I flashed it, hard reset, and ran the metropcs carrier cab... still not net. It must be a setting I'm messing up. I went through and made sure that everything was my number and nothing said sprint on my nam, w.ip. and all that but something tells me that there's something on that profile that should be nulled out. can anybody tell me what should be filled in and what should be empty (or zeroed out) in the settings?
Hey buddy hope this helps you.
Here is what I can suggest for you. The obvious things have to be set up right like PST settings. I would consult with udfxrookie as my CAB got him out of his jam with Metro PCS. Ask him about the PST settings and also you may have to Un-Authenticate and Re-Authenticate as described in my Cricket PST settings thread. Just use the Metro Values instead of the Cricket values. The HDR auth & PPP username and Password part.
This is a PM from udfxrookie

Now after making sure your Metro PCS PST settings are correct. Was the first thing you did when you are done flashing the phone and didnt touch a single thing (settings etc..) did you install MY Metro Carrier CAB and wait a little while then soft reset?
If that was fine then after the soft reset did you make sure your Phone WAS NOT plugged in to the Computer before attempting to access the Internet on the Phone to set up the @metropcs.com and password crap? The Phone needs to be unplugged from PC as when the Phone is plugged in its using your Home PC's internet connection and will not set up right.
After these steps you should be set to jet. Only other thing I can think of is you may NOT have a Data plan with Metro PCS, or may need to have the account refreshed. Let us know how it worked out.
I made a Full Metro PCS Programmer CAB.
Thanks loads for the help. I'm about to try the CAB again.
Wait.... what do you mean by ?go into IE and enter your name and password"? Where do you enter that at? I entered that into my connection info but not my proxy info.
Also... how do you get to the epst area with your ROM? My dialer code (##778#) isn't working now. Did I mess something up?

Make sure your phone is unplugged from Computer for next step. That is open internet explorer on the phone and navigate to a real webpage. yahoo.com etc.. then a prompt will come up telling you what to do, enter your [email protected] , password is metropcs. Make sure to click save password. Then that should be it.
You dont have to enter the proxy or anything... Both of my cabs already do that!! You may have to go into select networks and make the top drop down menu My work network, and Bottom one MetroPCS, you can fiddle around with those until you achieve what you need.
And about going into EPST use the diagnostic shortcut in start bar/programs/diagnostic..
You probably have smart dial on thats why you are having problems. Try ##778 call, ##778# call. If you cant get in with all three suggestions then idk. Reading my threads would of already told you this knowledge as well. I didnt even know you are using MY ROM. Here is what you said a couple posts ago, and R4R is not my ROM

Which version of MY ROM are you using? sprint, verizon, cricket etc... I have a metro pcs ROM. There are links in my ROM threads, there is a heavy version and light. Like the rest of my ROM's
Ryan
just wanted to know if metropcs will know that im using sprint mugol as a phone instead of their phone if i flash my mugol using your rom and carrier cab? I'm thinking of switching over from sprint to metropcs. I want to try their first month free first before I make the switch because I want to know if that will cause any trouble. I like the $45 plan they have. Others who have metropcs if you can give me feedback on this as well that would great too, my sprint is expiring this month on 22nd and ive been itching on switching somewhere else.
Thanks
sprint sucks
I had sprint for several years thru my family's business and was never really impressed with the service. The business closed due to the crappy economy and I ended up having to get a metro. signed up for the unlimited talk/text plan and bought their samsung slider. I like the service and have recently learned that ppc could be flashed over. I now have the sprint mogul fully operational with mms and web and hands down I love it....everyone who sees my phone thinks it is cool as hell. looking to upgrade to touch pro in the near future. If u live in an area that offers metro then go for it. it might b a pain in the ass to get them to put the smartphones esn on their network but just go to one of the smaller stores and offer the worker a few bucks to put the esn in as a razor v3....that what i did.

Yea I agree, if trying to activate a Mogul on almost any CDMA Carrier you might want to lie to them and say your phone is a Motorola V3C, or if that particular Carrier doesnt have a Motorola V3C then find out what phone they carry that has 3G EVDO and tell them you are using that phone. This way their will be no problems obtaining EVDO or in some cases not being able to put the phone on the account.
While I am in here, I have updated the Metro Carrier CAB's because I noticed that a value was set that tells you when a text has been read by the other person. I had thought I didnt include that value but I guess I had a lot to do that day.
The CAB's are updated with Working Dialer Codes, and will get rid of that annoying System Administrator message letting you know your text was received and read. If you do not want to re-download the CAB then navigate to this reg entry and change the Value from 1 to 0.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\SMS
"Delivery Ack" Change value from 1 to 0
Also for those with a Mogul, I have a fully tested WAP/MMS Metro ROM that I cooked (in my ROM threads), you do NOT need a carrier cab or any edits. The ROM is fully programmed for WAP/MMS all you have to do is activate the internet first while phone is unplugged.. Like you have to on any Custom Carrier Cooked ROM..

so you mean they really can't detect what kind of phone it is through ESN? That's what I was worried about because when I log in to sprint it has a picture of what kind of phone I'm currently using so they know. That is interesting and at the same time exciting. Ohh can't wait for my contract to end. I saw a couple of small stores in my area about 4 or 5 think.
Do they allow swapping the phone during the free month so atleast I can be really sure it'll work with my mugol? I called their CS # line and the CS sounds really dull as if she doesn't care and keeps telling me she can't do nothing at all.

that is awesooooommmm a fully set metro rom. this just made it easier and easier for me to switch and save tons of money.
Fixed both metro cabs
I found problems with both of my Metro cabs and they are now fixed. Just make sure to delete any existing connections before installing a cab.
The problem was it not provisioning right and the web prompt never coming up asking you for your information. I got that sorted out so those that tried this and it failed. Try it again.
Cheers

EPST on Hero

Ok, so i need to change some of the settings in EPST. Cant change a good portion of what i can see/view, yet on the Eris, there's a full working EPST and you can basicly edit anything you can see. Is there something im missing or need to do to make the values editable and or has anyone tried to use the Eris EPST on the Hero?
Thanks, in advance..
need password to edit EPST on Hero
When accessing the EPST on the Hero, I get:
1. View Mode
and
2. Edit Mode
View mode has two options:
1. User Name (Active Profile, user Name, SPI MN-HA, SPI MN-AAA, Reverse Tunnel Preferred, Home IP, Primare Home Agent, Second Hoome Agent, DSA Server URL)
and
2. Advanced [ESN(dec), MEID(hex), P_REV, SCM, Slot Mode, Slot Cycle Index, MCC, MNC, MSID, ACCOL, Vocoder, Home Orig, Roam Orig, Home Sys Reg, Foreign SID Reg, Foreign NID Reg, MN HA SPI Set, MN AAA SPI Set, Home SID/NID #1]
Edit Mode has:
A Password Protect!!! Hence the post
Anyone know the password, or how to obtain it?
That's your MSL number. There is a thread that has a step by step on how to get it. I got mine that way but don't remember at all which one is it. Search MSL number and stuff like that and you should find it.
Sprint will give u the msl number. It may be tricky. Like call up and say data isn't working and say u can't make it to a store. Something like that or just try asking for it. They may give u some kinda run around. But they can and will give it to u. I had issues with my diamond and data not working. I called up and they actually had me go into epst and gave me the password and all. I think though they had me look at it first and see if a setting had a 1 or a 0 by it and it had a 0. So then they asked me to go in and edit it and put a 1 on instead. Anyhow it went something like that. Is say to call up and ask or give them a line of **** and ill most likely get it. Good luck

Droid2 Simple Talk and Text flash to cricket

Hey guys,
Trying to do a little contributing, thought I would let everyone know something I found with the Droid2 when trying to flash to cricket, it will help you skip allot of steps in some other tutorials..
With the droid 2 in factory default settings, meaning comepletly reset and not activated on any network yet, get past initial droid set up screen by touching the four corners of the screen, starting upper left and go clockwise..
after you are past that skip over the setup and get to your home screen, open your dialer and dial *22804 and send, this will write a cricket prl and your nam to phone..
talk and regular text will work perfectly.. on my phone it downloaded PRL 32100 on the Droid 2 which is set up in crickets system as the (Sanyo M6000), on my actual cricket android device (Sanyo M6000) it has PRL 42100.. they are both on the 60Z android plan.
why there is a difference, I do not know.. In another thread I read that with the new plan etc.. all you should need is a evdo prl to get internet working on the phone since that plan needs no proxy, so autostart.sh and u2nl is useless, but internet will not work just by doing this simple programming method.
I would love to try and pull off the 42100 prl from the cricket android and write it to the droid2 to see if it solves the inet problem, but I have no software that can do it.. my trial for cdma workshop expired a long time ago, and I dont have the 100$ to pay for a single phone flash..
If anyone knows any other program that will copy and write PRL's on droids, if you do I would be happy to post the new 42100 prl for everyone, as well as any other files from cricket android that would be of interest.
p.s. after you program with *22804 you can start using just the base *228 without a problem.. if you try just the 228 first it will just try to activate on verizon instead of cricket
p.s.s. I really hope this is the correct place to post this and its not breaking rules, I have not seen this easiest way of doing this posted anywhere yet, so I just thought I would try and share
Please tell me that this is not serious?
If you activate the ESN to your account and dial *22804 or *22809 in some markets, it will download the prl file and program the MDN, MIN, and SID.
This is way old stuff and does not work in many markets, as it does not here in Houston, TX.
Thanks for trying to be helpful. I didn't mean to clip yo nuts.
