Noob questions about my T-Mobile Wing - Wing, P4350 General

Ok, first off, I just want to let EVERYONE know that I'm VERY new to the WM6 platform, having purchased a T-Mobile Wing, just recently. The phone was locked when I got it, but I used a sim-unlock service to unlock it. I've been working on Motorola phones for years now, so I'm not a total stranger to flashing, too. I've already successfully changed my slider tones and added a NES emulator to my Wing(which was all pretty basic, really), but now I'd like to start flashing some ROMS, particularly Touch-IT. My question: By flashing a new ROM to the phone, will it RE-lock the phone?

not trying to be an a**hole but kinda look around or search b4 posting

For a matter a fact, I DID do some searching b4 posting, and didn't run across the post you have so graciously pointed me to until after I had already posted a new thread. Sorry to have inconvenienced you, but I'd rather not mess my phone up, as I'm VERY new to the platform, as stated before.

Newbe also
Hey guy here's a few threads i ran across yesterday that were very helpful. unlike you it was shaky at first during everything but i did it. and cant wait to do more and learn more, and hopefully start writing my own if someone wouldnt mind helping me please....ill donate a few bucks to what ever for the held but here's the info:

I want to install a program, but dont know how to use .cab's
Its really easy.
1. Connect your computer to your device via USB
2. Explore your phones memory, and copy a downloaded .cab from the internet to your phone
3. RUN the .cab from your phone through the File Explorer
4. Whatever setup it is, it should complete, and it will delete the .cab afterwards to save space.
I want to backup my device:
Active Sync will back up your contacts, calendar, emails, notes, files and program data.
In addition, you can use PIMBackup for your Call Logs, Messages, Speed Dials, etc. and either Spb Backup or Sprite Backup for a full system backup (i.e. you won't have to reinstall all your apps as long as you restore to the same ROM you backed up from).
What are the different reset functions?
Soft reset - hit small circular reset button by volume slider(on wing) or bottom of phone (on Herald)
Hard reset - Press and hold both softkeys and press the soft reset button, continue to hold the softkeys til a prompt is brought up asking if you're sure you want to format. Press the call button to comfirm.
Enter bootloader - Press and hold the camera key, then press the soft reset button. Hold the camera button until the bootloader menu shows it. You will see 3 different gradient colors.

I want to install touchflo, but I need more instructions:
Here are my steps I used to install touchflo:
1. Download which version of Touch IT you want. For the Last version made, here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340403
2. Backup any information you wouldn't want to lose. Either backup to memory card or PC; your choice
3. At this point, You need to install the official RUU for your device, if you're already running the official RUU, then you need to hard reset your device. (Press and hold both soft keys and press reset button, continue to hold softkeys til screen displays to hard reset. Press the call button to continue). If you need to install the official RUU, continue to step 3a4Here is a list of uploaded RUUs
3a. Enter bootloader on your phone (Hold camera button and press reset, continue holding camera until a screen with 3 gradient colors shows up
3b. Connect your computer via USB to your ppc (Pocket PC)
3c. Run the RUU .exe from your hard drive, follow its simple onscreen instructions and click check boxes necessary to continue with the installation. This should take a few minutes, and you will more then likely see your screen flash and change things, this is normal, let it work. After a few minutes it will boot up and go into "automatic customization of your device", I continued this (screen alignment, tips, auto setup), and waited for my device to be totally ready for me to use.
4. Connect your device via USB to the PC and wait for activesync. If it automatically pulls up a profile for your phones sync, delete that profile. If it asks again to setup device for syncing items, click cancel. You will still be able to explore your phone and install devices without setting up the sync profile for your phone.
5. Make sure your phone is connected as a guest, if it is not, make sure it is. The method I used to do this was this zip file I ran "guest only" registration entry. (Make sure and run allow partnership registration after completing installation), but it should display as guest after the hard reset.
6. Copy aserg policies.cab to your mobile device
7. Run aserg policies.cab from your device
8. Soft reset (use stylus for button on side of wing, or on bottom of herald)
9. Go into your comm manager on your phone, and disable "phone". Basically enter flight mode so nothing can be sent to your phone during this process.
10. Once booted, its time to give it a shot. Make sure you're still connected as guest, and run !Upgrade_rom.bat from Touch_it folder on your PC
11. This will bring up a command prompt waiting for you to hit a key to begin, press any key
12. During this time it is installing, NEVER touch your phone or play with it in any matter. It may look as though the command prompt has gotten hung up at times, but leave it run until it completes (or fails). your phone will pop up a message saying "unknown status" or the likes, but dont close that window, like I said just leave it alone.
13. If you have no error messages in the command dialogue box then you're ready to hard reset your phone. (press both softkeys, and press reset, continue holding softkeys til you see a dialogue asking if its okay to restore settings, hit the call button to finish it)
14. Your device SHOULD boot normally, go through setup, and you should be golden.
If at any time there is an error during install, but you still let it complete, you might have a chance at it working. Hard reset it after completion (even with errors) just to see if it works. If it wont go past your Tmobile or HTC picture screen on bootup, then you have bricked your device. To UNbrick it, run steps 3a through 3c and reinstall the RUU.
If you get any errors, try and try again. Its proven working on several devices.
How do you enable the cube?
Start > Programs > TouchFlo > TF Settings
Here you can change how it operates, or turn it off.
Here are the ways to activate it

I want to sync my outlook contacts, but activesync doesnt work!
I have found a workaround for this.
1. set up a windows live account (if you havnt already)
2. at the windows live homepage, import your contacts from outlook to your Live account
3. set up email via your Wing, on step 4 it will allow you to sync with Hotmail and Live
4. contacts should sync
This is a "quick fix" to the real problem not being able to sync. Using this method will store them all on your SIM, and make it Lastname, Firstname (annoying to me)
Changing the HTC home plugin clock colors
select your color:
HTC Home Clock Aqua Glow Thread
HTC Home Clock Eblue Glow Thread
HTC Home Clock Matrix Glow Thread
HTC Home Clock Purple Glow Thread
HTC Home Clock Red Glow Thread
HTC Home Clock Yellow Glow
For me, all I did was copy and paste these files to my windows directory and soft reset. It worked after that! Matrix FTW!
I enjoyed this guide and it helped me solve my problem/questions I had. Is there a place to donate?

So, you were COMPLETELY stock and went straight to TouchFlo? BTW, thank you for the info!

Goodmorning...
yes i was stock, now i have the touchflo 2.3 with 6mb pool and over clocked 250 mhz and a few registry edits. i want to upgrade to the 4.4 version that they have out but not in no rush.....

Ok. Now I'm kind of confused. I've gotten to step 6, but when I unRAR the ASerg Policies, there are 2 files found within: _setup.xml and POLICIES.000. I move those files onto my Wing and them view them via my file explorer, within the phone. They look exactly like that, 2 files, not a .cab. So, I'm not sure WHAT I'm doing wrong here, but I'm doing something. Anyone?

are you sure theyre not a cab?
the .000 files are usually in cbs oh and the _setup.xml too.
you might want to save instead of opening when you download it

The ASerg Policies were in the TouchIT v2.3 folder, RAR'd. When I UnRAR them, all they are is the 2 files. Like I said, I know I'm doing something noobishly wrong, I'm just not sure what it is, LOL!!!

Monday bump!!!

Stop using tyler's kit ... its almost a year old... and outdated, as well as an outdated method of flashing.

HAHAHA!!! Holy noob!!! Soooooooo, Instead of UnRARing the ASerg Policies Archive, I just drug it onto the phone and the .cab worked! LOL! Brilliant. I'm going through the process, right now, to see if I can get TF to install, without bricking my Wing. Thanks for all of the help!!!

So far, so good! TF is up and running!!! For some reason, the cube feature doesn't seem to work, though. Any reason for this?

Anyone have problems using activesync? This is my third ROM install, each ROM being from a different developer... and activesync is still doing the same exact things to every single one.
To put a new ROM on I have to put the original T-mobile ROM back on, where activesync does work, then I repeat the new ROM install process. Still activesync refuses to work.
The grey circle turns green and when I click on activesync... It says connecting but eventually it will come up with the error and I can either press ok or troubleshoot. Basically the short error says no mobile device found.
Any help is appreciated thanks.

File Transfer Tutorial anywhere?

Out of the tens of files I've downloaded, only a few have worked for me as I have limited knowledge on the subject of transfering from PC to Wizard.
Files like this though, I just can't understand how I am supposed to transfer the, onto my Wizard as they don't want to move from the PC folder.
Here is the file I'm trying to transfer - it's actually a very useful Google search bar in the Today theme for Wizards.
Thanks for your help.
The file you're trying to download is a .cab file, right? So all you have to do is sync your phone with a computer, copy the .cab file to your phone (anywhere will do...I like to keep my .cab files on an SD card in the phone, so I have them if I need to reinstall them later).
Once the file is on your phone, just navigate to it with File Explorer (or any alternative), and double-tap the .cab file. Even though it displays as an unknown file type, .cab files are automated installers for windows mobile, and will install all the files needed for the program automatically. .Cab files are deleted automatically when the installation is completed, to help you manage the memory on your phone. You can circumvent this easily by right-clicking the file first, and setting it to "read only" in the options, but I would only do this if you're storing your .cab files on an SD card, like me.
Myrddin,
Thanks for your help on this!
Yup it's a CAB file. But when I download it and extract it, I can't physically move it from the folder it's in on the desktop. I have the Wizard Activesync File Explorer opened up, and I try to drag to file over, but when I drag it outside of the window it turns to a crossed out circle (ie, not allowed).
Scrap all the above in Italics - I tried it again and it went in fine.
Now, when I go into File Explorer and click on the setup file, it just brings me to the same page as it does on the PC. It contains all the characters for the installation, but nothing happens.
The filebar at the top shows file://\My%20Documents\_setup
Am I just being dumb?
Definitely not. The installer should handle this file for you without pause.
Just to satisfy my own curiosity I tried to install the file myself. No problems at all. It did open a licensing agreement during the installation that I had to Ok, but aside from that, nothing unusual about the install.
I suspect that one of several possibilities has occurred:
Your download was corrupted. Try d/l the one below...
Your phone is somehow locked to prevent installations (very unlikely)
Your operating system is hosed (especially likely, if not an "authorized" ROM)
Just to aid with troubleshoot, what is your operating system, IPL/SPL, etc., what is your phone service network?
Thanks.
Here's the info, hope this is what you need...

You are not supposed to extract the cab file. Transfer it without extracting it to your Wizard and run it. It will ask you where to install and it will do the rest.

Nope, still can't. I had tried not extracting it and extracting it.
Now I can't even transfer the file over again. When I click and drag the file icon turns into a black circle with an 'x' through it.
Myrddin, when you downloaded the file did it the icon show a little earth with '<' and '>' either side and 4 lines below it?
Thanks!
Do you have a card reader? Try removing the memory card from the phone, copy the .cab file to your memory card, stick it back in the phone, find the .cab file where you copied it with your file explorer and tab it to install. HTH.

No. Are you using a USB cord and ActiveSync to sync your phone to the computer? If not, this can be a show-stopper. Third party apps usually do well enough at syncing, but to open the pathways that allow for file transfer it is usually necessary to have a USB connection via ActiveSync.
What OS is your computer running? Using Vista will surely cause problems. Windows XP is good and stable with ActiveSync. Using other operating systems is also highly suspect.
Do you have sufficient memory available to install this plug-in? If your phone is full of pictures of your significant other, then there won't be room. Not being able to transfer files to your phone makes me suspicious of this, too. Go to Settings > System > Memory and tell us what you've got free for storage and program.
If you have an unlimited data plan, or if you just REALLY want the plug-in, take your phone to a wifi hotspot and download the cab file directly from this thread to your phone, using its built-in browser. Then just double click the cab file icon. It is not possible to "extract" the files from a phone. You need specialized software to crack those .cab files open, and if this is kicking your butt, you might want to wait before trying something that technical.
One last ah-ha: You are on pay-as-you-go, you have no data plan, so GPRS/EDGE network is no-no for your phone, unless those plans have changed dramatically in recent months.
Arrgghh, this is frustrating!
Thanks for your help and patience guys.
I don't have a card reader, so that's out for now.
Myrddin, yes I'm using the USB cable and Activesync on XP.
I've got about 19MB free on the phone, and the same more or less on the storage card.
I've got GPRS working fine on my Pay As You Go, through help and the correct settings on this forum.
I think the problem may lie in my PC as I can't even take those files out of the folder and transfer them anywhere. When I click on the file, here are the steps I take...
Here I have opened it rather than saved it, but I have tried saving it too, just to the Desktop.

Then here's how it appears on my PC...
DO NOT OPEN THE CAB FILE.
This has been said to you many times, but you keep insisting on opening it, to no avail.
Think of the .cab file as a .msi file that only works on your phone. Yes, most compression programs will open a .cab, but it's not formatted the way most .cab files are, so opening it yields you nothing serviceable. It is merely an aid to installation, putting all the needed files and registry entries where they need to be, and creating the necessary shortcuts.
If you have the cab file UNOPENED on your desktop, then right click the cab file on your desktop and choose properties, to see if the file has been set to read only, archive, or anything like that. This should not prevent you from opening or copying the file, but nothing else you're saying is happening makes sense to me either, so what the hey. If anything is checked, uncheck it all. Also, if you are not using an administrative user login on your computer, you may want to try logging out as a user, and logging back in as admin. It's unlikely this is the cause of your problem, but as I said before, anything goes right now.
If nothing is checked, do the following. If this doesn't work, I'm afraid you're on your own:
Click the link above to start the download (again)
Click Save. DO NOT CLICK OPEN
Navigate to your desktop
Click OK
On your desktop, click ONCE on the cab file, and press Ctrl+C on your keyboard
Connect your phone via USB and verify that it completes sync (icon stops spinning, no error messages)
Press WIN+E, or click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
In the LEFT column, click My computer to expand it.
Click Mobile Device
Click My Documents
Press Ctrl+V
Disconnect your phone from the computer
On your phone, Click Start > Programs > File Explorer
Navigate to My Documents
Click twice on cab file to start it automatically
Follow instructions and let it load to regular memory (it's better to put today plugins on your memory than on your SD card, which can cause your phone to hang/freeze while loading the today screen)
You're either done, or so lost at this point that I cannot help you remotely
I don't mean to be condescending with this instruction, I just want to make absolutely sure you are doing this the way it should be done. Please report back any problems you have with this instruction. (...and to everyone else, if I missed something glaring, please post it!)
Short of all this, I can only recommend that you try downloading the file directly from your phone's web browser. It's not very big.
Good luck,
Myrddin
Well don't I feel stupid...
Seriously, it was so simple and I just couldn't figure it out!
It's on my Wizard right now, thanks to your time and patience Myrddin!
I now know how to upload CAB files onto my Wizard. Easy, innit?
Now, next is upgrading to WM6 please mate - GO!! Just kiddin'!

I do have a habit of taking people's heads off once in a while (search and see for yourself), but sessions like this one are far more rewarding in the long run than just jumping on someone while they're down.
Sometimes, I just forget I'm in a bad mood before I start typing. ::sigh::

Beginners how to update...

Okay, I've been doing a ton of reading, and finally after having issues updating from Open Touch 3.0 to 4.0, I decided to Hard Spl. Everything worked fine, and is running great, but I thought I'd post some things that might help out some noobs (like me) when they decide to mod their phones.
First off, there are two methods to flashing to new roms.
USPL and Hard SPL
Basically your phone has software to keep from being overwritten. In order to flash, you need to bypass this.
USPL, is a software that will temporarily disable this allowing you to flash then. This is the safest way to flash to different roms. Some roms require a hard spl, so it depends on what you are flashing to. Here is a link that has the USPL link to download and how to use it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377939r
Now, if you want to Hard SPL, you need to know this can brick your phone if not done properly. First, hard spl permanently writes over your phone basically unlocking it. This can be reversed, but there are other threads describing how to do that. You need to make sure your ipl is 4 or higher. If it isn't, you will brick your phone. Check this my holding the camera button down, and press the soft reset button (use the stylus and push it in the small hole on the left side of the phone.) Make sure you hold the camera button down until you get the 3 gradient colored screen. (I think it's red, blue and green). The top will say your ipl number.
First, download this file
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ot8zsn
It will contain 3 files you need to install first in a certain order. Unzip this to your desktop. It will make a folder called hardspl 6.
You need to make sure your phone has an option selected. Go to start\system\usb to pc. Check the box for advanced networking
Next, you want to put your phone in flight mode.
First install canonyang.cab.
(Install by copying that file to your pda through activesync and then just use file explorer to find the file on your pda and double tap that file).
Next install aserpolicy.cab
Finally install disablesecurity.cab.
Then do a soft reset (press the small hole with your stylus on the left side of your phone).
Now, go to the hardspl6 folder on your desktop, and run the romupdateutility.exe file.
It will walk you through the install. At one point, your screen will go white. Leave your phone alone until it reboots itself. Viola! You are hard spliced. Now, you can load whatever rom you wish to.
Hope this helps somebody out there...I was extremely confused at first.
Seems easy enough. I had a Wing, but returned it after I was told I wasn't getting it for the price I was told. There's a big difference in paying $150 for a Wing with a promotional code and paying over $350 or whatever it is. But now I got another one finally and I love it. I've wanted to make it look better since I had the first one, but I always thought it was risky. I didn't wanna risk messing up my phone. Plus I don't know much about it anyway and I never wanted to really bother people and ask. Not that i'm an idiot and I can't understand tutorials others have posted or anything. It's just that the phone is completely new to me and even some words i'm not familiar with. For example, what brick means.. hard spl.. etc. I still do wanna get my wing looking nice though. I definitely wanna get a black/grey theme going.
Bravo!
We commend you for creating this, as it SHOULD decreade the number of noob questions we get.

Brick means to make your device useless. It's basically where you try to turn your phone on, and nothing happens. (Hence the term brick, because that's all you can use your phone as). This is usually done when you try to hard spl, and it fails. You have to do a lot of reading to make sure you can even hard spl depending on the IPL 4.xxx of your phone. You can find this out by holding the camera button and doing a soft reset (using the stylus and pushing the small hole on the left of the phone) Hold the camera button down till the phone come up in the 3 gradient colors blue, red, and green I think. It will say at the top what IPL number you have. If it's below 4, you can't hard spl or you will brick your phone. Hard spl is basically unlocking your phone so you can install any rom you wish to flash to. It overwrites the software that protects your phone from being written over. That is the dangerous part though. You can use the uspl method, which basically temporarily overwrites your phone, but most roms require the hard spl method. I got some weird errors using the uspl method though.

The rom update utility (not trying to sound sarcastic) updates your rom. The rom, (basically the operating system you are trying to flash to). You have to place the .nbh file (the operating file you download) in the ruu folder and it knows you want to update to that rom. It will tell you what rom you have in that folder when you are flashing though so you know you have the correct rom in it.

[TMOUS][KITCHEN+ROMs][WWE]WM6.5 21892 & 24634 "Just Another T-Mobile HD2 ROMs"

[TMOUS][KITCHEN+ROMs][WWE]WM6.5 21892 & 24634 "Just Another T-Mobile HD2 ROMs"
"Just Another T-Mobile HD2 ROM v1"
Works with T-Mobile USA HD2's but T-Mobile junk removed.
Includes Kitchen
I used osKitchen Zero v1.32Alpha7 and dumped the 2.13 OEM ROM myself so I got exactly what I wanted to start with.
I've created a Bunch of Packages myself, again, to get what I wanted. A few of the packages I've only modified to get them to work the way I want. The Folder Icon's are my work.
I tried to keep it similar to OEM, but changed a few things to make it mine.
I am ill, so I will not always be available to answer questions, but I will do my best. I do this to keep my mind on other things while I deal with my illness, be patient with me if you can. I am doing this in my spare time, so don't expect miracles.
Before Flashing, PLEASE backup your Data, and make sure you have Hard SPL 3 on your Phone.
Use This Tool from 'doloop' to complete a Task 29 on your phone. This will Format the ROM Space and clear any previous ROM code from your phone so you get a Clean Flash and less chance of errors on the new ROM. Simply connect your phone to your PC with the USB. Unzip the attachment and run the Exe file inside. When the Flashing reaches 95%, PRESS and HOLD the Volume Down button until it reboots and enters bootloader mode. Now you are ready to flash this ROM.
I will post the Self Extracting Kitchen, an RUU_Signed_0409.nbh, and an AutoFlash file.
What is AutoFlash you ask? I've taken the RUU file, added the Flashing Program, and Packaged it all up into an Auto Executing Auto Flashing Program, and, it's a smaller download than the RUU alone. Pretty cool huh? Yes, others have already done this, but I'm going to make it a standard practice from now on.
"AutoFlash (tm), Making Flashing Socially Acceptable, One Package at a Time!"
Run the AutoFlash file, or Flash using the Standard Flashing Program included in the Kitchen.

I've flashed it around 30 times now during testing, and so far, it's fine for me.
You should see 'SPL-2.08.HSPL' on the Boot Loader Screen. Also, keep in mind this ROM is for the T-Mobile USA HD2. I am not sure if it runs on the International versions.
If you have that, then you should use the Task29 file in the first post. Remember to hold down the Volume Down button around 95% and keep holding it till the phone reboots into bootloader again. Then flash the ROM.
I have not flashed from the uploaded files yet as I'm still trying to get them all uploaded. MediaFire was having trouble last night, so possibly a file got corrupted? I'll be testing them shortly. Files are now Confirmed Working.
95%? you mean when screen Shows the Big HTC and then percentage below it? then i should use those buttons?

When you are flashing the TASK29 file. When it reaches 95% Completion, hold the Volume Down button until it Reboots into BootLoader Screen. (Red, Green, Blue Screen) When flashing Task29, NOT when flashing the ROM.
After rebooting into BootLoader, it should be ready to flash the ROM.
Has anybody else flashed this yet? Any additonal input so I know if I have a corrupt upload?
EDIT: I'm downloading it now and test flashing it to verify.
EDIT: See post #8 below
No i mean cause i got a big Black Screen and in middle of it says HTC Big Fonts... below it loading crap... 95% and then i press them on that screen till i get 3 color one? hmm think i got it tell me if it works ... doing a raid in World of Warcraft atm
Confirmed Working
I just downloaded the Self Extracting RUU file and flashed it. It worked fine. Keep in mind that the First Boot took 1 1/2 minutes to finish. Be patient...
I just downloaded the AutoFlash file and flashed it. It worked fine.
I just downloaded the Kitchen, and it extracted fine.
All seem to be working fine. Please let me know if you get different results.
you know the first time u use the tool u have a put a link in here? it goes to 95% almost instantly i use Volume down and Red buton.... nothing happens and now i am again stuck on Stick together

When using the Task29 tool, it will go to 95% almost instantly. That is normal. ONLY hold the VOLUME DOWN button at 95% and continue to hold it until the phone reboots into BootLoader. THEN flash the actual ROM.
It sounds like you sucessfully flashed Task29. If you are still on the Stick Together screen, open the back of your phone and hold down the Volume Down Button while pressing the Reset Button. This will put you into BootLoader mode so you can flash the ROM.
When you flash the actual ROM, it will take a few minutes, like other ROMs.
do i have to do that aswell with Autoflesh?
Dantia said:

No. Holding down the Volume Down button is only for the Task29 step. Flashing the ROM is like normally done with other ROMs.
If you want to try the AutoFlash version, just download the files. Connect your phone to your PC via USB. Run the AutoFlash file and follow the directions.

My Install Strategy;
· Run Microsoft My Phone Sync
· Turn off antivirus software in Desktop PC (Stop Avast Anti-Virus)
· Remove SIM and microSDHC Storage Card
· RUN XDA Developers “HD2 Task 29” as an AdministratorTask 29 is not mandatory that's true, but it's a safe way to ensure that you don't have any old files remaining after flashing a new rom.
There is no harm in doing it and the easy way is to use the tool I provided in this post:
Connect your device and flash as you do with an ordinary rom, when completed (100%) press volume down and keep I pressed until the device has restarted showing the coloured boot screen, then you flash the Rom.
· Install your cooked Rom as an AdministratorNOTE 6: Please, Hard-Reset after flash process has completed.· Add SIM and microSDHC Storage Card

What to do?You can download the SSPL_RUU, here. place the SSPL_RUU file into the map where you unzipped your cooked Rom and lounge to start.Q;What is Bootloader?Bootloader mode is handy for checking the HD2's version of Hard SPL as well as the installed ROM and Radio versions,and also for ROM or Radio flashing to the HD2. I sometimes use the Bootloader method to flash ROMs as it saves connecting to Activesync/WMDC because the PC recognises the HD2 as connected via USB. It is also useful for flashing a ROM or Radio version if the battery charge is less than 50%, as it ignores the 50% charge warning that is normally displayed when flashing if the HD2 is low on charge. Never use this method if you have less than a 30% charge as you will be in deep trouble if the HD2 runs out of power while flashing a ROM or Radio version!Q;How to access to Bootloader?To place the HD2 into Bootloader mode, remove the HD2's back cover hold down the volume down key, now press in the red reset button under the back cover to the bottom left of the SIM, release the soft reset button but continue to hold the volume down key in until you are presented with the tri colour bootloader screen. To exit Soft Reset the device.Q;How to remove HSPL?Uninstallation:
Remove HSPL by flashing an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.

Thanks mate; hope also. It would be more easier fore new users to find the most answerer to there question. I know fore people like us it's easy to find everything, but fore new users it's quite complicate. The funny thing of XDA is there is so much on it; but finding it caused some problems
I know I must add lot of questions on it; but with time it will be complete (I hope )

Hey kurt,
one of the questions I see most on the boards is about sense crashing and displaying "unable to launch htc sense" after booting......
I usually refer people to this thread.....
Although there could be many reasons why this occurs I think that thread offers a lot of good advice about fixing that issue without having to hard reset..........

This question was be treated in the first post:
01. Go to your Device's \Application Data\HTC\ProgLauncher Folder and delete all the *.bmg files inside. These are icon caches that will be recreated upon next boot.
02. Delete All Old Icons from the Quick Links Menu in Manila.
03. Restart

About Active Sync; I don't have a Idea about that. As fare as I know I didn't saw someone who mention this problem before. But I will tray to investigate about this issue!
But in the meanwhile; open your task manager, probably you will see Active Sync be active, deactivate it!
About Battery Draining; there are multiple reasons about this behavior:
- Radio version?
- Rom?
- Hspl version; in case of wrong combination with Radio and Rom
- More obviously
- Problems on the temporary music catch
- a particular music file who caused problems
- problems on temporary file in commend!

Fore this there is a simple test; remove your SD fore about (let say 3H) and take a look on the battery's behavior. If the problem is solved without using the SD, do a SD format!
-...
like you can sea the answer to one problem can have multiple reasons, without much of information not easy to give you the right answer.
thx for the answer here is my os spec
rom:1.66.479.2 wwe
radio 2.07.51.22_2
i don have a hspl cause im on stock and will try without the sd

Based on Rom and Radio, I only see the direct problem on SD; do the test like mention before, if it's normal, do a format of your SD! (is your SD a class 4th?)
yea its a microsdhc 8gb nokia class4 (it came with my n5800) i also got a 2gb sandisk with the hd2 but its to small for me btw wich class is the sandisk microsd

Do you have any news?
I mean when you extract your SD was the battery consumption normally now?

For those who can't unlock anymore using ChevronWP7, here's why!

I wrote this inside of another thread, but decided to make a new thread because others may not find it or read it. For those who have tried everything, this is the reason why you can't unlock the phone unless you do a full reset:
The majority of the failures to unlock your phone again is because you used a registry script that changed the HD2 to identify it as an HD7 and may have included registry entries that set PortalUrlProd and PortalUrlInt to 127.0.0.1 or a Null value and somehow your phone became relocked. Once it's set this way, no matter what you do to unlock the phone it won't work because the proper server to query is "developerservices.windowsphone.com" is not defined on the phone. ChevronWP7 works by hijacking and spoofing the address of developerservices.windowsphone.com to be your local computer and then responds appropriately over port HTTPS (443) to the phone.
From this post, Microsoft/ChevronWP7 responds with this:
Code:
<DaysLeft>365</DaysLeft>
<AppsAllowed>10</a:AppsAllowed>
If you set it to 127.0.0.1 in the registry this references your phone when it tries to unlock. The phone itself is not running a spoofed HTTPS server so it will never work. Setting it to null means it doesn't no where to go either. If your phone is working in Zune and you hit the end button on the phone, you will notice ChevronWP7 will report that the phone is pin-locked, this means ChevronWP7 knows about the phone, but the "uh oh - Please make sure it's connected using USB, Please start the Zune application" message it generates is kind of ambiguous and is not the actual error we are seeing here.
The original values are these:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg]
"PortalUrlProd"="https://developerservices.windowsphone.com/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010"
PortalUrlInt"="https://developerservices.windowsphone-int.com/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010"
and the corresponding certificate is this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
That's how the phone can trust the HTTPS connection because you imported the certificate.
Now if you change the URL to something else, you will need a corresponding certificate. You can make one with makecert.exe or makessl.exe form the various resource/development toolkits out there on the Microsoft website.
In my example, I'm going to use a site that doesn't exist "developerservices.unlock.me". You should change the PortalUrlProd and PortalUrlInt on the phone as follows:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg]
"PortalUrlProd"="https://developerservices.unlock.me/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010"
"PortalUrlInt"="https:/developerservices.unlock.me/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010"
Now in your hosts. file in \windows\system32\drivers\etc folder, you should set up an entry for developerservices.unlock.me with your computer's own IP address.
Once you do you need to install a new certificate on the phone for whatever host in the URL you made and you will be able to use ChevronWP7 to unlock incase it ever locks you out again.
To simplify the making a self-signed certificate portion, I've created a cert for "developerservices.unlock.me" with the validity date of 1000 days. It's included in this post. Hope this helps you all with maintaining an unlocked Windows Phone 7 and understanding why ChevronWP7 won't unlock anymore.
Please press the THANKS button below if you find this post useful.
Thanks to timmymarsh for writing up instructions on all this. Please visit his [REF] thread: [REF] GUIDES to keeping your HD2 unlocked - 2 methods [updated] for the step-by-step instructions.
ok so how does one change phone registry if ProXml Deploy method wont work because Chevron wont unlock the phone?????????????
The only way is to hard reset the phone and then re-run ChevronWP7.

I have already done two hardresets and nothing. Back to Android..........
Works for Me!
Thanks for that, and the description of why it happens.
Whenever my phone re-locks - and it's probably when I forget to put it in Flight Mode when syncing - I've had one hell of a time unlocking it again... hours of trying all the tips on the forum. (but no asking, I can read)
For this one, I mailed the new cert to the phone & installed it, edited the PC HOSTS File and rebooted PC & Phone.
I then left my NIC Enabled, Antivirus Enabled - all as normal, and left the phone NOT in Flight Mode.
I connected up to zune, installed an app from the market and unplugged the phone.
Yes.. it had re-locked.
So I plugged the phone back in, ran Chevron and bang! Unlocked again straight away.
Looking good so far....
After DAYS and tens of failure trails ,I sent the attached file to my E-mail
i installed it and Its unlocked finally.
Thank You
****ing awesome mate. Finally it works. Thank u
I take it this only works if you managed to unlock already and it relocked
And not if you have never unlocked in the first place?
doesn't works for me !!

Once you locked yourself out of your phone by changing the PortalUrlProd and PortalUrlInt, the only thing that can save you is a hard reset. Changing the PortalUrlProd and PortalUrlInt to a different address prevents MS from being able to relock your phone, that's why people were including it in their HD2 to HD7 identification script, but the negative affect is if somehow your phone became locked again it could never be unlocked again, because ChevronWP7 works with only one address "developerservices.windowsphone.com". My method should allow you to continue to unlock using "developerservices.unlock.me" if somehow your phone becomes relocked. By changing the url, it minimizes the chances of your phone becoming locked again, but I suspect there's something in the background in the Zune software that relocks the phone as well.

So after applying the above fix it still re-locks the device if you connect it to Zune and didn't put the phone in flight mode, can anyone confirm?

my phone is unlocked. do i just instal the cert and edit the host file? or is there more to do like edit the phones registy
Thanks Daniel for your help, I believe this will make a lot of people happy.
I have a question though, your method provides the solution for PCs connecing to the internet with static IPs.
Is there a solution for dynamic IPs as well? How should the hosts file be edited in this case?
Thanks again,
antaed

If you used "developerservices.unlock.me" you would have to change it manually in the hosts file if your dynamic IP changed. So if your router has a 24 hour lease for your LAN side it could be 192.168.1.10 one day and then 192.168.1.15 the next. You would have to change it appropriately. Or if you have your internet going straight into your computer via aircard/cable modem or what not you would have to do the same.
ChevronWP7 attempts to do this modification to the hosts. file automatically for the address of "developerservices.windowsphone.com". You can see this when it runs, it changes the host file to your current IP or if you have no connections up it uses localhost: 127.0.0.1.
I did exactly that and it worked brilliantly
Thanks a million, you're a Superhero!
I wish more people dare to try and benefit from your input...
Cheers
antaed
ehm what do I need to do with the rgu and provxml file :S?
Edit: I installed your certificate then deleted the line where ip+ developerservices.windowsphone.com stays and entered ip+developerservices.unlock.me. But after trying to unlock the line comes back?

in the same boat, had windows 7 unlocked and activated fine, hard reset to dual boot, but now I get the uh uh error even with the screen locked
*** edit***
let me clarify, I had the phone unlocked using the original cert and chevron, was working fine. reset phone, in maglr I deleted the windows section of the sd, created a partition, basically went through till my windows part said I had 4gigs of my 8gig card to work with, tried to unlock and nothing, tried installing this cert and changing the host files and still the uh oh error, even with the screen locked, so now it's not communicating at all I think, gonna try hard resetting with the card to unlock again and se if it changes, but I'm thinking the benefits of wp7 are no where near worth all this trouble, it wasn't even all that great when it was working
well, if you have any ideas I'd be happy to hear them
The registry edits are for the phone, not the computer.
