What's a good small app launcher that can mimic the LG Buttons? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I made this theme from Ultimate Launch and rlToday.

Although I know rlToday can make buttons, too, I need a separate launcher to replace the small rows of buttons at the very bottom (WM5 New Menu, Phone, Calendar, and Contact)
I want to place it outside of UL so when I spin the UL cube, this last row of buttons don't move. Any ideas?

You could use any other launcher like iLauncher. But probably it will not support the same icons or layout options as UL. Alternatively (and if you don't mind that the icons DO move when you move the UL cube) you can use "combined Tabs" in UL. This means you turn every tab of the UL cube into a combined tab. In the upper part every combined tab you put what you have on the UL cube tabs now. To the second, lower part of every combined tab you assign your four bottom icons. So when you move the cube the lower part will also move but will show the same links/icons on very side=tab of the cube. I tried this at least for one tab and I'm not sure if it works with same links/icons on more than one tab. At least for links it should. For today plugins it will not, I think.
Play a little bit with the UL settings and you will find out how if works for you.
Cheers,
Derek.

And check out this thread, maybe it can help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371049

I was thinking about that, too. The problem is that if I don't have a lot of icons in one of the cube to fill up the space, the four bottom buttons will move up.
But anyways, I did find Battery Status from that Aurora theme to be pretty useful. I played around with the theme and kinda made it into my own. Now it won't rotate w/ UL

I'm pretty sure you can somehow prevent the buttons from moving up with the UL settings. But anyway, you already made it. I think I will try BS as well.
Cheers,
Derek.

Today launcher that supports big icons ?

Hello everybody !
After numerous attempts to customize my HTC trinity for a thumb-based experience, I finally got onto some applications that really do the job :
- Tene's PocketCM for the contacts
- ArticCat's OTO for the calendar (works well so far, however I hope to see more of it soon)
- Paulya's Vista II dialer replacement
- A_C's S2U for the lock and S2V for the pics viewer
- HTC's PhonePad for the SIP and Mediaplayer for the music player
- SPB's Mobile Shell for the navigation and the menus.
What I'm missing is a launcher that would work as a today plugin, and that would support large icons in PNG format (thus, with alpha transparency). By "big" I mean "larger than the default 32x32 pixels that all launchers support" - 48 or 60 pixels beeing the size I'm after (something large enough for my fat thumbs ). I don't need tab support, since there are only a small number of apps I want to access from the today screen (typically 8-12).
Do you know if anything that'd meet my needs exists for WM5? Even for a small/reasonable fee (means, around 10-15$) ?
Thanks a million in advance !
I think i used claunch to put a really big shortcut (64x64px) on my todayscreen
Greetings, Vi
ThrottleLauncher
Search for the ThrottleLauncher thread here. No Today plugin yet but all indications are that it will be coming. Great launcher, you can size the rows the pictures are in to any size you wish. I am using 56picsels by 56picsels.
pocketage - no size limit
I tried to install PocketAge from the latest CAB I could find on this board, but something must have gone bad... My Trinity is now stuck as reboot
Everytime I soft-reset it, it got stuck then block at the following step :
{

}
Of course, none of the hard or soft buttons work and I can't dismiss this reminder. I tried to remove the corresponding event from outlook but I couldn't manage to sync the device. I noticed I can access the device filesystem. One strange thing, though, makes me thing that the system is not completely frozen : the clock on the reminder changes and shows the correct time.
Any idea how to recover my phone without having to hard-reset it ? Thanks !!!

yeah, claunch is a good one. it's a today plugin and you can use custom icons. not sure if they are png though never tried it. it has way more options than you need but you can configure it how you want....

iStyle... new wad theme like no other...

PREVIEW!!!!
This theme requires WA2 or WA3 and WAD... hop on over to lakeridgesoftware.com if you dont have them... but to give you a run down, I wanted to have something that allowed me to hide the clutter when im not using my phone, pull up ALL of my favorite apps in an organized fashion. Easily set different backgrounds and set themes, as well being as lightweight and efficient as wad will let me be. With WAD2 around the corner, I was going to abandon this project, but decided to finish what I started. Here are a few screenshots, it will be uploaded tonight...
The current theme is a marvel/dc comics for the portrait... and a bleach theme for the landscape. The buttons were designed by torx and akuma, and were resized to fit accordingly... also, there are plenty more buttons so you can change them to your liking very easily... pm me if you have any questions or requests...

this is a preview of what it will look like when you hit the task/office button...
the text will pop up and the icon will invert and lift to let you know that you are on the desired page... if you click the button again, the dock will hide like its displayed... each page will do this
this is a sample of the phone page when its docked...and undocked in landscape... instead of the raised text, the title next to the clock will switch and the icon will raise and invert... app buttons like "favs" can launch the speed dial of the cube in portrait... although as stated before, all buttons are configurable...
well... this is just a preview... let me know that you think
LooKs very nice, it will be nicer if u can make a s2u2 clock and background skin

Any way to set background image for top/bottom bar w/o Wisbar or other apps?

Like the title says - is there any way or some small utility to apply background image for top and/or bottom bars? (I know You can't make them simply transparent).
I have tried Wisbar, rlToday etc, they are all either doing too much on the side, consuming way too much memory or just buggy. I've also searched this forum but as the bars have too many names (top bar, taskbar, menu bar, start bar etc.) I've come up with nothing really...
What I would like to achieve is something like this (image from ultimatelaunch.de):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Please help.
i asked that before
it is another tool by the ultimate launch author called skinmobile:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1916467&postcount=28
OK, thanks!!!
I'll look into it later (or tomorrow) as I don't have my device with me atm. But it sure seems what I am looking for considering what I have seen and that it's small
you can also use vijay555's todayToggle to remove either or both of them, and just show the background image.
who really needs the bottom bar anyway, if someone can't remember what the two (big number) launches are, what are they doing playing around with ppcs?
it's a tiny exe (9.5kb) that you can leave in your windows\startup folder.
Then edit the registry to choose the size, the exe basically shrinks the bars to 2pixels but you can choose any size you want
Okay, thanks for the tip!!!
By the way - I've seen screenshots of taskbars with icons representing running applications just like in normal desktop PC. Besides MagicButton and WKTask and maybe Wisbar (not sure), are there any other apps (small) or registry hacks that do this? It seems that all these applications address a multiple changes in the system, I am trying to locate utilities that do just that one little thing - show running application icons on taskbar (next to start button).
i use wktask and set it to do absolutely nothing except show the running tasks.
it does'nt seem to me that it slows down or causes any problems
OK, thanks for the tip! Gone try it that way.
By the way Skinmobile is buggy on my WM6, so that app kind of sucks...
yes its a bit buggy but you can edit the ini file and graphics and try a bit around. i had it running without any problems on wm6.1
Naah, I'll just leave it to that and wait for better apps. The "see-thru" effect isn't worth it, if its buggy. For me at least. The buggyness seems to appear when I click on any of the taskbar icons. Although I didn't do a soft reset after running the prog. Should have I done it? Would it change anything?

Flash Pimp Clock

Loved the original idea from here:

}
Its basicly a different visual clock, to read the hours see the left vertical columns and for the minutes see the right 5-rows columns.
The PDF on the site above explains it better...
To use:
---------
- 5 colors to choose from, just press the bottom bar to change colors.
- If you prefer a 12-hour clock, simply click the left numbers after 13h.
- Exit with enter (keypad) or by pressing the top-right area.
- See the "normal" digital clock and date by pressing anywhere else on the screen.
Notes:
-------
- Needs FLASH 7, if it doesnt exit properly, you dont have it.
- Attached the CAB, already with the WM6.5 icon on install.
- Also added a separated swf file, to see it run on your NOKIA, PC or Throttle Launcher..
Enjoy.
Nice idea
Love it! thanks!
it would be cool if it can be a screensaver.
thanks twolf!
WQVGA issue omnia
just wondering if there's a way to make the excess screen on my omnia to default BLACK- then your app would be awesome
maybe even add function buttons - there's some promising update potential
awesome clock - would it be possible to simulate the look of a recessed L.E.D.?
looks good on my armband at the CLUB!!!
Great...very cool with the color options!
Sorry, the software I use for the EXE only allows VGA/QVGA, he doesnt even allow any extra options for the size or screen color.
Use flash pimp clock
I need a macromediaflash for use it. someone can help me?
found it
Yes, yes my first app for the htc diamond.
it`s fantastic........... I`m cry
Standalone app?
Just wondering... what is the program you are using for these standalone apps? I could probably use the same thing to make my own FlashGadgets play as standalones, which would make them work across a broader series of device platforms. Please check out my thread, and tell me what you think. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630985

ADW Launcher EX Question

I am using ADW Launcher EX on my Desire, however, I wondered if there was a way to place icons on the Homescreen(s), but not have them align to the grid?
I would like to put 3 icons on one line of my homescreen, with equal spacing at either side.
I hope this makes sense? Is there anyway to do this?
Very roughly, I want to go from this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

good morning,
I think you can do this job on two ways.
First you can variegate your desktop columns. For example to 5.
Second way is to install the "simi folder widget". With this app you can adjust the size of your icon. This app can be so useful and looks very nice.
I hope I could help you.

But this would Screw up the top column, there would be a gap in there?

I have simi folder widget installed and have been using it, however, I cannot figure out how to resize the size of the icon (I know how to resize the Icons within the folder, but not the actual Widget Icon).
Thanks for the help

I use adw with 10 columns and rows,
[1] unlock desktop,[ 2]longpress homescreen select widgets.[ 3] select DV (1x1)small [4]configure 1c+1r [5]dv on homepage short press to options.[ 6]select icon now image if you want to change the application looks or just select application icon.scroll to app and select.[7] now select action,press launch app.select the app, if you dont want a label select clear.press ok and you now have the icon on homepage in the look you want but very small [8]longpress on icon and press option edit. [9] You now have 4 arrows and you can drag and enlarge to wherever you want. Hope this helps.
PS play around with the dv size options a well.
I know how you feel, Ive been wanting the ability to go "of the grid" ever since i started using android. (My last win mobile rom allowed me the ability to but any icon anywhere on the screen, including half on one screen half on another, stacking icons and so on.)
However I think for your situation the easiest solution would be to just change to 9 or 7 columns as follows
_#_#_#_#_
__#_#_#__
or
#_#_#_#
_#_#_#_
You can keep your equal spacing and have your icons staggered
