Ultimate Theft Alert v35!: Free offer - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

Hello All,
This is NiCK Carty from www.PocketPC-Live.com and I was here in xda for a very long time at the Artemis and Kaiser sections serving the community, even released a couple of slim Roms for Artemis (HTC P3300). Now that I have got myself a new HTC Athena (dopod U1000) after being impressed by the processor 624 Mhz Intel, I will enter this section now.
My first impressions on the device, it's damn good, probably better option to those who look for a UMPC.
As a welcome note, I would like to give 7 copies of my software Ultimate Theft Alert v35! (recently optimized for Athena under real VGA 128 dpi). The next 7 replies to this post will be eligible for the free offer. Download the trial version from here and mail me for Product keys.
I would love to hear your suggestions for my software.
Regards,
Carty..

For some reason my download crashes whenever I try to install it. It doesn't even open. I unziped the file and it's not running.

Did you open the unzipped file on a desktop PC? It has to be copied to Pocket PC and executed there!

Thanks Carty for your free gift. Will try it out tonight when I get some free time.
Edit: okay, installed it. It looks really really good. I like it better than WIMP if the monitoring integration can be installed.
I have a few questions.
1) I entered +614XXXXXXXX as my number to call when the phone is stolen, but it does not accept it. Why is this so? What if a SIM card of another country is inserted when we travel?
2) Often the top taskbar disappear. Do you have this problem? I also find that I'm unable to minimise it or switch to other applications when used in conjunction with wktask.
3) How do we make it possible for the problem to survive a hard reset?
4) How about letting the seven of us have the GPS and monitoring integration also? Or at least the monitoring integration. I like your concept of monitoring very much. I have been using WIMP in the past with GPS, but I find the GPS location to be too rough to be useful. I think the monitoring concept gives us much better chance of recovering the phone than WIMP would allow.
Fantastic application! Thanks again.

Replace + with 00. Eg: 00614XXX Try it and let me known. It is the issue with some service providers who dont accept the format of message sent with certain parameters.

The application is made to take the full screen hiding the Start bar. This is only when you're in the Admin panel making some configurations. So for a few minutes, you can sacrifice Start ar ?
Or do you think the application doesnt bring back Start bar even after closing?

Depending on in which country the phone is stolen, the international prefix is different. But + is the universally acceptable prefix to replace all these prefix. That's why I thought it would be the correct way to set up the number.
BTW, I tried testing it. Unfortunately it does not seem to be sending out any SMS alert to the listed mobile phone number when I put in a SIM card which has not been added to the database yet. Are any of the other six users having this problem?
Also, when I tried to set up the customized text, the software abended with an error message saying "An unexpected error has occured in UTAv35.exe. Select Quite and then restart this program, or select Details for more informaiton" . When I select Details, I see the following information:
UTAv35.exe
NullReferenceException
at UTAv35.Form1.Button19_Click()
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick()
at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick()
at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBasel.WnProc()
at System.Windows.Forms.Control._InternalWnProc()
at Microsoft.AGL.Forms.EVL.EnterMainLoop()
at System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run()
at UTAv35.Form1.Main()
I wonder if this (the inability to set up customise text, hence it is blank) is the reason why no alert message was sent?

IIWPO: Theft protection in ROM for Himalaya

(Re-published due to forum structure change)
Based of the IIWPO solution initially meant for Wallaby devices (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=2526), I created a customizable installer for Himalaya:
See the Wiki page on IIWPO
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/IIWPO
Hopefully IIWPO suprises a lot of thiefs!!!!!
This is way too cool! I really love this software. I hope never to have to rely on it but just to know its there will make me sleep better. Thanks.
Wow!
The link doesn't work, but... there is or could you do something like that for the PDA2K?
Thanks!
Chris

Edsub,
I am wondering if the already excellent IIWPO could be further enhanced by a simple but witty add-on. I am imagining the capability to receive a Kill-Signal via SMS. If all attemps to recover the phone fails because the person who holds it has not put in a full & proper owner name + address we still have a phone number right? Therefore we can send an SMS to the phone at will. If IIWPO listens for a specific sms subject line then we could instruct it to disable the phone in some fashion that can be reversed and display a message to this end "tell" the thief to return the phone no questions asked etc. If still no luck then we could send a signal forever killing the phone. Am I watching too many spy movies? ;-)
Hope you like the idea. Sounds fun to me. Regards
I like the idea :twisted: , but since am not a CE developer (and I did not develop IIWPO either, just put the parts that were there together for use on a Himalaya) I have no idea whether or not this is possible.
Maybe any of the real xda-developers see a possibility here :?:

This is possible, and was used on an HP Jornado 928 ...
On this handset, a simple SMS containing a specific codeword or PIN would 'lock' the handset so that it could not be used. Quite useful and as far as I know unique to the HP Jornado 928.
Anyone know any different ?
Cheers
Mark
wow!! this would be great for the PPC! ive tried something like this in my symbian NOKIA 6600! and its very useful!! if you change the sim the phone will automatically send a message to your predefined numbers containing some info on the current location of your phone... and if you send a code to it thru SMS it will lock up and it cant be used unless you flash it or something.. i bet the PPC version is even greater!! cant wait for a full version!

I would like the facility to electrocute the new "owner" through the ear when he makes a call, 50,000 volts would be fine. Or maybe a spring bolt that would activate and shatter his jaw.
Perhaps the local police station...

My wife lost her handphone to some dishonest fella who picks it up and perhaps remove the SIM/off the HP.
Perhaps we can have it SMS your selected police station on startup and replay an SMS with your customised message:
"Yeah baby! I've stolen this handphone and there is NOTHING that you bloody incompetent slobs can do about it! <vulgarities applied here>!"
<repeat 100 times>
In my country, we can have different numbers for neighbourhood police post. The SMS will be repeated as a robotic voice message to the LAND phone as well.
I can at least ensure that the message does not go into a generic 911 number. :twisted:

HEY - THIS IS A COMMERCIAL SOFTWARE !!!
YOU SHOULD BUY IT !!!!!
:twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
yes i agree, this is a great program, you should pay for it
Yeah, actually, this is like one of the few programs that make what 3 or 4 programs do. You should really erase the app, and link the website instead.
Talking about the program, the new version has a location Service, giving you the possibility to setup different settings depending on where you are. This is one ***ing cool feature. And I've seen something like that for the Smartphone that acts as a GPS sort of device where it post the cell tower location and shows in a website where more or less are located. Anybody knows if there is such a beast in the PPC?.
Moderators and users, in fear of losing this entire website over a single piece of unauthorized software, please remove the attachment immediately.
I am one of dozens of "beta testers" working with this author to provide the best product possible, and as a developer, I would be very hurt to see my work go unrewarded like this.
*** PLEASE REMOVE THE ATTACHMENT ***
Okay, i removed the attachment. Thank you all for your encouraged acting!
Have a nice day.
Piracy aside - it's an amazing app and i'm buying a copy! Can't believe how much it does - it's SOOOO useful
The funny thing is where does this v1.20 come from since on pocketMax.net website, there's only the v1.13.02 available !
http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm
Updated yesterday!
This program is really cool. I customised the JOEL_BLUE theme to show the operator name and graphical battery and signal levels. It also allows you to assign MP3 files as SMS tones! COOL!
Funny thing isn't it - piracy can end up making sales for you..
phoneAlarm is damn nice.. I was using Pocketzenphone last time but end up using this piece at the moment. Good job.. BeyondtheTech :wink:
been using this app since the first day I had my Magician, cant do without it now. I especially like the automatic (timed) switching of profiles

This is a great piece of software but i still miss some features that Magic Profiles for UIQ had like;
- Creating your own profiles
- Ability to work in relation to the Calendar and automatically switching profiles. This was done by using "Magic Words" like "Meeting", "Flight", etc.

If you have ver 1.2 or higher press the config button, then select the Addon tab. Then there's a button called scroller. Click on that. Select "Rotate every" and set it to 0secs. In the "Items to show" section, select Operator.
Hope this helps

Here's a tip for your blog:
These windows mobile phones don't accept SMS WAP Pushes. What is an SMS Wap Push? It's what service providers send to your phone to give you a link to a ringtone/picture/java game you've asked for. For some reason no one complains about this, but for me it was quite important to find a solution.
To enable WAP Push messages on your WM phone do the following:
Using a registry editor go to HKLM\security\policies\policies and set the key 100D to value 4095.
Can you show me how this works? Give me something I can navigate to and receive something?

its got the bypass certification built in when you select unlock extended_ROM.
Can now edit config.txt to add a cab that auto-install protection software (eye on thief, with my config.ini) to send me wife the thief's phone no.
Hey BongoUser,
Great tool - many thanks.
One suggestion regarding Wifi:
I understand that the TyTN uses WiFi only at a rate of 11Mbit. A modification of the registry entry dot11DesiredTxRate from 0 to 13 will increase the speed to 54MBit/s.
Have not tested yet if this change will then allow operation in 54Mbit range only but I presume that also the slower networks are ok.
Maybe worth adding to the tool.
All the best,
StonyA
Hi BongoUser,
really great job !
Here a suggestion for a future update of your software, which should be fairly easy to implement:
An option to swap the HTTP User Agent in the Registry and afterwards have swap it back again to the TyTN default value.
The HTTP User Agent can be found as a Registry key (don't know it by heart at the moment; can drop you a line if you'd need that information) and allows you mimic your device for webservers checking this value as an other device, e.g. a Nokia phone
Apart from just making fun of this function there is also a practical use in some cases, in fact where a webserver checks the value for either oresenting a different screen resolution or switching to WAP mode (note: some Nokia phones just have a very poor screen resolution or even cannot present real http pages).
In some cases WAP pages are of advantage versus real http webpages because their size is smaller, e.g. when just retrieving pure information.
While there are surely more "sophisticated" (and probably also complex !) ways for upgrading the Hermes Tweaker I think this one would be swiftly implemented.
Regards
ghl10000

Very sorry to be so stupid !!! But I confess that I don't really understand what mean "Extended Rom" ?

What does it mean if I select "Mount Ext Rom" and "Unlock Ext Rom" ?

It means the space where you can find the CAB Files from Orange or O2.
It will be installed after every hardreset.
If you don't know what Ext Rom is, don't unlock it and don't mount it !

There's nothing special about it. From what I can see, it has HTC Home installed, Touchflo, HTC Album in landscape mode, Pocket IE in full screen mode, Tom Tom navigation, Office Mobile, Windows Media Player, HTC Audio Manager, HTC Action, nothing special.
As for the speed, it is a medium speed ROM, I'd give it a 6/10.
Most of these apps you will find on the forum.

Most of these apps you will find on the forum.

I've left this question elsewhere, but just in case anyone knows.. is there a piece of software out there with a tweak to stop SIM contacts appearing as well as phone contacts?

Here you go!
After installation, shut down PPC (hold power button for 4 seconds), then soft reset.
Hey Tnyynt.
Thanks, but I think I found a solution by searching....
Schaps Advanced configuration tool (works w/wm6.1.) It has the SIM option and many more cool options (of which I know how to use maybe two!)
