Does PIM.VOL resize itself dynamically larger AND smaller? - Mogul, XV6800 General

Hi -
I have some pretty large Outlook Notes and Contacts folders. The pim.vol file on my xv6800 is over 15 MB in size. I can aggressively go in and whack out a lot of entries that I no longer need, using Outlook on my desktop computer.
The question I have is, will that result in a smaller pim.vol file on my 6800? Or does pim.vol only grow in size but never shrink?
Thanks,
Tim

Redirect Email or Contacts to SD card

Anybody seen/have a tweak that will allow you to redirect your email folders over to the Sd card? I have over 2300 contacts and when I download to the phone, I have no Memory left for the phone to function... I have seen a registry tweak to move the my documents folder to the SD card... anyone know if this will work with Contacts/ Email?

Sorry mate but you cannot move contacts and mails on your sd card; they're stored in wm internal databases. You can only choose a folder for email attachments.
However to free up some space you can:
- use PhotoContacts Pro for contacts management (your contacts will still be in wm databases in main memory but, at least, you'll be able to store their photos somewhere else)
- use Qmail for your emails (it's free, let you save mails and attachments in sd-card and is a gazillion times more powerful than wm's default client)
Bye

What actually syncs?

I'd like to know what info actually syncs to the ppc device?
I would like u'll to try this & I need feedback. Check the size of ur outlook contacts by right click on contacts for properties. Then click folder size. Make a note of the same. Do the same for calendar, notes & tasks, etc which u sync with ur phone. Now export all the above as separate pst files. Check the sizes. Now check the size of pim.vol on ur device - ppc's root. This size should be total of folder size bytes or psts.
Does the sync happen as direct contacts or pst file?

Deleting PIM File from the PPC

Sometimes when i have to use SPB Backup it causes my PIM information on the Desktop to "double" its contents (eg. the numer of Contacts, Calender reminders are doubled).
In order to try and resolve this i thought to DELETE the PIM information on my PPC and just do a normal Sync with the Desktop. When i try to delete the pim.vol file on the PPC it wont let me saying "the source or destination file may be in use".
Does someone have any idea how this can be done easily??
Can someone also suggest to me how to delete double identical entries in my Contacts & Calender either on the PPC or Desktop or both??

To Delete PIM, just rename PIM to something else in 'my device'.
Soft reset - now there will be a new PIM created. You can now delete the one you renamed.

That is an interesting question. I searched for a solution for some days ago after I played with PIM-backup. I got tripple entries of all contacts and calender entries in Outlook.
The only solution I found was to delete all extra entries manually on PC :-(
If I remember correctly, there's an option in SKtols that allows you to delete duplicated stuff.

Active Sync question

Hi all
Is there a way of getting AS to synchronize whole folders instead of just individual files?
I know there are folders on the phones internal memory (Personal and Business) that get sync'ed, but i want to sync folders on my laptop to folders on my memory card.
Peace.

Mogul (Sprint): Change notes location?

Is there a way to change the default notes location? The context being that when I use XTND to sync up notes, it syncs up with My Documents on device. When I see the mapping, it maps to the default WM notes location.
What happens is that it clutters the my documents with .pwi files where as I would prefer it to go in a subfolder notes inside My documents on storage card
thanks!
