all sms twice!?

hoi all
i got a problem with ma mdac... if i send a sms, teh receiver alwys gets it twice  -- could u help me fixxin this pls??
thx greetz kiff
Don't close Inbox until you've received the 'message sent' notification, otherwise the message will go through twice for some reason.
That is because he is using a task manager! You have to excempt \Windows\Tmail.exe from your taskmanager closing procedure! In SPB Pocket plus there is a way to do it!
yep thats true, i always close inbox, then after a few secs teh message "message sent" pops up... k i wont close it before received that message thx
yeah im usin Spb Pocket Plus - how am i doin that?
thx
greetz kiff
This only happens (I think) if you use a program like Spb to actually close the program... i.e., just clicking (X) (and minimizing the mail program) doesn't cause this problem... in Spb go to Options>Close Button>Exceptions and add \Windows\tmail.exe
This will cause Spb to minimize (as is the normal function) the mail app, instead of forcibly closing it.
I assume this problem occurs because you send the message, and close the app before it's had time to confirm that the message has been sent, then when you reopen the program, it attempts to complete what it was last doing... resulting in it sending the message a second time.
many thx it worx now
erm - so its a bug of spb??
greetz kiff
Thanks for the tip, i too had the same problem, and a friend grumbling all the time coz he was getting 2 copies of each message

All my text messages are sending twice?

Hi, long time reader, first time poster!
I have an O2 XDA Mini S, and in the last few days, my phone has been sending each message twice, or even three times.
Yesterday I did a hard reset to see if that would cure it and it did, but as I re-installed all my software, it started again!
Just wondering if this is a common problem associated with a certain program.
Also, I just sent a test text to my old phone and my XDA told me it couldn't send the message and put it into drafts, but my old phone received it.
If this isn't much help, I'll let you know what I installed, see if that makes it any clearer!
Thanks
Is it so hard to use search function?
It's a well known problem when U use taskmanager software to close message application _before_ U get "message sent" notification. When U close it during sending process message remains in Outbox and thats the reason that system sends it again a bit later.

I did search but didn't find an answer. I'll have a see if that's fixed it. I remember finding a small cab file that stops the 'message sent' notification, any idea what that could be? In the meantime I'll go search for that cab file

smsengine error - no incoming texts!

Hi there,
Can anyone help me with an odd sms problem?
After installing some programs to try and back up my text messages from my xda exec, which were unsuccessful, I've since uninstalled them and now discovered I'm not recieiving any incoming text messages... only the network voicemail 901 messages ever get through, but whenever a text message comes in I get a dialogue appear saying
"smsengine.exe
The file 'smsengine' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file."
when "ok" is clicked, the dialogue closes, then when the pocket outlook is opened I get a small dialogue box saying
"SendMyMessage
SendMessage failed.
TimeOut!"
Obviously I can't ever see what the message was, it just never gets displayed in Pocket Outlook (presumably due to the error above )
Any Ideas what I can do? is smsengine.exe a standard WM5 program, if so, can somebody find it on their machine, copy and email it to me, and tell me where to save it to?
Or do I need to muck about in the registry?
I can't reset my phone to factory defaults because I have some really, really really important text messages relating to my employment which was why I started this mucking about trying to back up the messages in the first place... so I'm really stuck now, and I'd really appreciate if someone could offer some advice on what the best approach would be.
hi,
I've heard of smsengine.exe afaik its not a standard wm5 file i'd say whatever programs you installed to backup are the cause of your problems.
I'd reinstall the programs and remove 1 at a time to see which is the cause
What programs did you install?
solved - thanks - any other sms backups that might work?
Thanks Deadmetal
Strangely I'd already tried uninstalling, with no luck, but tried reinstalling, then removing, and eventually the problem seems to have fixed itself using this proceedure. very odd!
The program I installed was smsOrganizer by zedsoft
http://www.zedsoft.net/
Which doesnt seem to work on the Exec for some reason, even though it says its WM2005 (which I presume is WM5 - if I'm wrong with this assumption it might explain why it messed it up <grin>)
Can anyone recommend a good (free) tool to backup sms messages under WM5 that I can use?
Thanks for the help
Derek
Ah! smsorganiser! Yeah I thought the software you had been using was that. I've had several problems using it but it does look a decent piece of software if the bugs ever get ironed out!
the problem keeps on!

SMS failures were occurring on the Sprint network(s) last week and the week before. Depends on your location. Don't worry, it's not your phone. It's a network problem.

empty message in htc Sense(resolved)

Hi, I've finaly upgraded to the latest rom from HTC which has Sense rather than flow but I now have 20 or so empty messages that cannot be deleted.
Has any one got a idea how to remove these?
cheers
Dan
Have you done hard reset after upgrade?
yes i have
Try from sms app, from programs, not from sense.
how do you get to the sms app?
if i go to all messages the blank messages dont apear.
edit: infact it's only showing 25 of 77 messages of which 22 are blank (I used pimbackup to restore).
cheers
dan
very confused now.
I did another hardreset and message restore and there now gone though it's still only showing the latest 25 messages but I can live with that
