Anyone interested in getting sorta stylished outfits for 8525?? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Well, the only concern I had with my Hermes was it is god dam big.
It's tolerable when it's without anything but I just want protect my 8525 from scratches.
I always cover my phone with plastic cover, but it looks so big when it's in my pant's pocket,
as someone once joked that he thought it was my PH.D(pretty huge D) skewed to left(or right),
and I'm an asian, the fact of which makes my figure pretty an irony(I can joke about my race, right??).
In my country, Korea, they cover phone with sorta printed plastic or film sticker,
which enables easy outfit reforms of phones as well as scratch protaction.
As they don't have 8525 in this country, I was looking for expansion drawings for 8525, which I couldn't.
I posted about this issue but no one gives a dam about that or my Eng was sucky.
Anyhow, I finally made it by myself. it's kinda not perfect yet.
I ordered plastic sticky sheet from cellphone reforming shop and I need to cut that sheet(or sh*t) by my self following the expansion drawing, but if they gets enough demand, I can ask for customized factory cut of the expansion drawing so that I(or we) don't have to waste my time for precise cutting.
I don't believe there would be such a huge demand, cuz this forum is for sorta geeks(at least a bit of), not for metropolitan-ambiguous gendered dudes.
So the product of covered phones will be like this::

I will post mine soon if I succeed in making a versatile outfit. I am making it with Paul Smith stripes, and you can also cover your phone with sorta like Gucci or LV or BMW, Jessica alba....and so on.
So if you are interested in getting something like that, post a reply or enter a poll.
Then I am thinking about supplying through ebay.
The cost of the cover would be around 15 bucks including shipping fee.
Customized order(of picture) would be more than that, I gotta ask the shop owner.
So anyone interested??
It's only available for 8525, or other Hermes model which has totally same outfit.
P.S- How do you call that kinda cover in English, if it has name?

New Magician housing ????

I sold my Wizard to get a Universal and funds won't allow it at the moment so going back to a Compact, sold my last a few months back. Just picked up a tatty one cheap....anyone know of a source for new cases if it can be done in the UK ? Ebay link maybe ?
monkeyphonix: do you mind changing the name of this thread to "New Magician housing?" to be a bit more helpful. It's a bit misleading right now.
I haven't heard of anyone selling 3rd party case, but if you search you can find HTC's telephone numbers and might get spares.

I have their website up now with a UK number, looks like they do the work, not sure if they sell spares but will ring them, cheers.
have a look on the board though, I do think a few guys have tried it, so you might be lucky! I still love the Magician, just don't find the wizard attractive enough really. Universal - good for beating a man to death with...
V
hahaha...I like the comment about the Universal......can be used as a weapon in self-defence
O2mini_noob - it's all true!
This is what I have to wear when I put it in my pocket:

That's me in black  (not really!)
I shouldn't be cruel. It's a nice device. I just wish they had put a lanyard hole on it, otherwise it's bound to fall and get mashed up like monkeyphonix's.
V
hahaha....that's a great illustration
There's another option for Magician cases
(1) Buy a silicon skin to protect your device ..black or brown will mask the condition of the exterior.
(2) At skinit.com, buy skins for your Magician and transform a tatty looking handheld into the coolest device in your area
(3) If the screen is scratched, get the "scratch remover" from ebay and DIY the repair of the screen. Then put a screen protector on.
Doing this will increase the resell value of your device when it's time for an upgrade

Strange Unknown PDA apeears on ebay!!!

Posted this in the General forum, but thought you guys may be interested as well.
Just noticed this over at Coolsmartphone.com
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-Mega-Pixel-...38331QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=em300090753602
Appears to be a PDA with a 5MP Camera!!!
Beware though, says it has WM5 on it, however a closer look at the silver model reveals WM2003 and black has WM5.
Not a chance that i'll bid on that.
Any thoughts??
S.K.
It it is even remotely real then it is probably from Japan or Korea or something like that.
Otherwise I would say that it is just a scam. After all, a phone branded as "Pocket PC?" Come on...
Yeah, appearently Chinese OEM manufacturer.....
That PDA is one ugly mothe..........
Thats looks like some Photoshopped SE P910/Samsung love child!
That is a concept from some chinesse ODM from a long time ago circa 2004. I dont think it ever came to market but I remember seeing concept pics of it.
That is definately a Samsung "OK" button.
Googled for it and found something here.
It looks like cheap plastic.

Why not??

(if ya look arounf on fleabay hard enough you can spot them,, dummys in a collectors tin ^_^) from the looks of it someone found out the designs and started tinkering to make a real phone
I dont think it is real though lol

i-mate JASJAM on eBay for AU $125

Hey all I just nabbed an i-mate JASJAM (Hermes) on eBay for AU $120 ($5.50 postage) to go along with/replace my Magician, the only defect is a non-functioning earpiece speaker, which I can most likely fix easily.
I've been missing a hardware keyboard for a pretty long time, I was considering modding my Magician to have a slide out QWERTY thumbboard.
I've had my Magician for a year or 2, I love it, bought a pink housing for it and upgraded it to Cotulla's WM6.1 and it's like a new phone It was originally given to me by my ex-girlfriend's mum when she got a new phone. She had never used it for anything but calls and txt, which I was appaled at lol
So did I get a good deal?
You didn't get a bargain, but as long as you can repair that ear piece you got a good price.
I paid $100 +postage 6 months ago for a JasJam via ebay, but I was picky and let about 20 go for a higher price before I finally got one.
This is my 2nd JasJam - first is still mine and had a white screen issue which I've fixed, this 2nd is now my wife's and is in far better condition than my 2.5 year old JasJam.
I love the keyboard and Windows Mobile too, so mine gets used heavily
Cheers + welcome!
G.
Earpiece speaker should not be a problem. Most often it's just the spring contacts not touching the board or a bit of oxidisation on the contacts. Just sometimes the speaker is faulty, in which case there is a motorola one that fits almost perfectly and is easier to find than the original. (pretty cheap too)
As for it being a bargain - well count yourself lucky if it's one that has no alignment and white screen problems, they are awkward if not impossible in some cases to deal with.
Mike
Well at least I didn't get ripped off like I would have been if I got one of the $200+ ones
@mikechannon Should be an easy task, had my Magician apart countless times to try out mods, change housings, tighten the stylus holder etc.
@Ogier I love WinMo too, it's so useful I can't stand using a phone with a closed FW for too long. It just annoys me not having a decent file manager etc.

Re-branded (androidsticker)

Well, I unbranded my atrix using the penny method and have now "re-branded" it with an android sticker. I actually ordered 2 because I wasn't sure of fitment for one. I tried the larger one first and it probably would have fit, had I not been stupid:

I already had it on very well before I realized it overlapped the camera section... So, I removed that and replaced it with this:
It's hard to capture the color accurately in a picture, but the first one seems to be a bit closer to me. I think I liked the first one better, had I not messed it up. I may end up ordering another offset version, but going to wait to see what more protective (sticker type) covers come out for the atrix first. Considering how cheap it was, I don't really care too much that the first one didn't work out or that I might end up taking the second one off soon anyways.
For anyone interested, these stickers, as well as other designs and colors, can be found here: http://www.androidstickers.com/

I might try that if I decide to order another.... kind of a waste of money to keep ordering them, but they're cheap enough that I might as well give it a try and it'll be easier to switch if I find myself dissatisfied with the look. Can always stick the extra on something else if I want.
Woof... I'll stick with the sexy, slim, soft-touch, black plastic of the incipio feather...
I'm probably going to end up going with something different... just waiting till there are more options. Not really interested in a case though. Pretty much waiting for the "skins" type options to come out. They offer basic scratch protection but that's about it, it seems.
Emailed them with an idea and they're looking into it... might have something a bit cooler if it pans out.

Yes, it is unfortunate, but a lot of the manufacturers are using chromed plastic now a days. This is the second one I have seen with an issue of having the chrome come off. Not really too bad considering the number sold, but I know, bad if it happens to you. Get a replacement and happy Thriving.
I saw a post on Toshiba's site where a guy had bought two Toshiba-branded screen protectors for his Thrive. Well he went to remove one and it left the entire screen covered in a sticky, adhesive mess. Seems they can't even get those right either, let alone the dysfunctional device it's supposed to be protecting.
I can't divorce this company fast enough.

Do you actually own a Thrive? All I see you doing is flaming the unit and Toshiba. Im not defending them if they wronged you more power to you... but I feel skeptical. Im just sayin...
