Brazilian HTC Newbie wanting help, please... - P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc.

Hiya everybody!
I'm a brazilian man which got the HTC P3301 a.k.a. Artemis two days before now and I was wondering a lot of things....
I used to have a Motorola A1200 a.k.a. MotoMING before buying this one....the motorola community is like a HUGE group, so I started to wonder if our community on HTC development and upgrading is as big as their's....
Also, the device is new in Brazil, but it comes in portuguese and locked to the operator from which you bought the cellphone...is there an easy and free way of freeing ourselves from the carrier we bought it from AND the CID? (I read the CID USPL unlocking thread and I was wanting to try it, tho I dunno where to find ROMs and what kind of ROM is the most up to date)
Right now, that's all....I guess that solves not only mine, but most brazilian people problems....
Thanks everyone!

Hi Dijinn.
I'm Brazilian too. (saudações)
I've had some htc phones and I can tell you that in general thery are very good
and flexible.
The community is great.
I've one HTC 3300 and this is the only model that doesn´t have a free unlock tool.
I've used POF solution to CID unlock and it works great! (although it's a temporary solution)
I've update the rom to Tom B&B 4.3 its fast and stable. Highly recommended!
Try to SIM unlock with your operators or look in ebay (I'll do it).
Regards

Hey there Macs!!! (Falae xD)
SIM unlocking can now be done in Brazil by the own carrier for free...Anatel pwns man!
About the ROM, i'll take a look at it...I'm in research right now....it took a while for someone to answer me....thanks for it, man!
I heard that POF's tool works great...I don't want to end with a fifteen hundred bucks brick in here, so I'll be sure about the ROM I'm gonna use to try to re-flash it only once...
I wonder if we could work on an "Artemis Customization Guide for Newbies", what you guys think?
Thanks a lot!

Brazilian ROM?
Hi Dijinn
I'm brazilian too.
I had bought my P3300 abroud and at now I've been using de original ROM.
You told about the Tom B&B 4.3 rom. When can I get more infomation about that and make the donwload?
Do you now another ROM in Brazilian Portuguese?
Thanks

feral_br
look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=362 for many rom's.
and the new tom_codon B&B 5.01 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364883
I like this one.
I'm using B&B 4.3.
don´t forget to use POF solution to CID unlock, BEFORE flashing any rom.
There is another ROM called mary xxx that has a portuguse version.

Mais um Brazuca na área! Fala rapaz!
Você comprou na Claro?
Se quiser desbloquear dê uma olha no SimUnlocker aqui no fórum.
Rom em português é difícil... eu tenho um Kaiser e o mais perto é a rom lusitana.

Another Brazilian here! Gretings
You bought it at Claro?
If will wanna to unlock it, search for the SimUnlocker
Brazilian Rom is rare... I got a Kaiser and the closest one is Portugal's Portuguese.

Hi all, i´m brasilian too.
Any one culd put the GPS to work. I tried all programs, even the google maps and no one find the GPS.
Fred
BH-MG

what's the ROM and RADIO version?
Try to flash a new radio.

here is the artemis wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Artemis
you will find all kinds of infos there. for a ROM list check "upgrading" section. you'll find original ROMs and modified (cooked) ROMs. these lists are not complete of course, but it's still a good point to start.

Unlocking MDA

Hi all,
I have MDA (XDA) from Austrian T-Mobile with ROM version 3.13.12 GER. I would like to unlock my device but I am not sure if this ROM-upgrade will work with my device. Can somebody give me a help?
There is no reason why it shouldnt work. Make sure you back your existing rom by sd method before proceeding.
You need to get XDA2Unlock, just go into the right forum.
But it's quite easy. I did a unlock real fast. took me a few minutes (it was brand new, so I didn;t need to make backups.)

The best ROM for unlocking your MDA I is the english 3.17.03 SER (Special Edition ROM) which has the XDA-Unlock tool built-in.
Then i would recommend a cooked version of the German T-Mobile ROM 4.00.33 with some nice Tools already included...
If you can't find the ROMs, I can help you to find them ;-)

hi 004,
i think you posted a lot of threads like this, well im not a moderaor, so ok lang. hehehe.
with regards to your question, here goes.
I think you just got your unit, its from smart or globe right, from their promo, then if it is, its version O2 1.66 WWE, its the latest release from O2 Asia, although this version is not so good and stable version, you might encounter a lot of hard resets along the way, so use BACKUP, any will do, ACTIVESYNC BACKUP will suffuce.
for now, you need to know that:
1. O2 ASIA 1.60 WWE is the most stable version but lacks some upgrades.
2. O2 ASIA 1.66 WWE is complete but not particularly stable.
3. O2 ASIA 1.72 WWE does not exist YET, 1.72 is available for Imate or T-mobile versions but not for O2 YET.
O2 1.72 WWE is desirable however there is no upgrade yet from O2 (www.myxda.com), if you want, install the 1.72 of either Imate or T-mobile, but IF you will be encountering problems later, SMART or GLOBE will not be able to help you and IT is DIFFICULT to revert back to 1.60 or 1.66 O2 version.
So my advise is, IF you dont like the 1.66 O2 version for any reason at all, TRY the O2 1.60 older but better version, just backup your EXT ROM and bring over some files and installers from the 1.66 version that are missing in the 1.60 version.
IF YOU get tired of the 1.60 version, you can always revert back to the 1.66 version by upgrading.
OR you could wait for the 1.72 version from O2 when available.

factory installed 1.66roms can't revert back to 1.60WWE, i think.
hello boybi,
now pinoys are invading XDA country, before it used to be only smartphone territory, hehehe.
THEORITICALLY, you can revert back to 1.60 from 1.66 or vice versa using LAUNCHROM, flashing the unit to the EARLIEST ROM for the XDA 2.
The dark ages (1.3), hehehe, then flashing it again with the 1.60, that should work. Though i never tried it. Im waiting for the 1.72 should it come.
please join www.pinoywindowsmobile.com for Filipino support.
thanks ü
why don't you flash with imate 1.72rom?
is it safe to change rom versions? no permanent damages (like you cant use your xda anymore)?
Yun nga ang aking kinatatakutan eh, baka mamaya pag upgrade ko PAK wala na sira na XDA II ko. sabi nla kapag ang sira daw ay dahil sa upgrade yung waranty bali wala na. hhhhmmmmmm.....

dont try to be so exclusive in your posts pare, coz we are in an international site and we do need a lot of help from these guys, ive been able to super enhance my XDA 2 with the help of xda-developers.
and try as i much to give back in return.
anyway, file sharing esp yung NOT freeware (meaning BuyWare) is not so good an issue too for posting, if you may, use PM (private messaging), you can see the flags so you will know who are filipinos.
there are a lot of good freeware at pdagold and at freewareppc, but if you need the really cool software, get our fellow pinoys together and maybe we could chip in for the software.
thanks and more power.
my project right now is LOOKING for official O2 ROM 1.72 and WM2003SE.

You could also try these ROMs, same ROMs as the ones I compiled in the other link but with better cameras.

it's good to see fellow countryman
as pug has explained, you could use pug's rom with all of the upgrades (radio and camera being improved). I use it and it's running well on my device. If you're worry with the extended rom version and don't want to miss some programs that might be useful for you such as o2 connect, gprs monitor, etc. you could install them on your own after downloading the cab files from buzz site and other sites alike (pdamobiz). Oh yeah, pak Cornelius, I thought I send you a pm a couple of days ago but I havent received a reply from you. Anyhow, just wanna say that the problem was resolved thanks to someone in this forum (cant remember his name).
enjoy your new rom and many thanks to pug for his work on alpines rom.
hi guys, my neighbour country! hahaha
using bal666 Ext ROM Tools, you can edit your ext rom and add the cab files to your ext rom. special thanks to bal666.
First of all, I'm newbie here,
does anyone having trouble with upgrading the XDA IIi ROM radio so far ?
does the camera quality improved much ? not so noisy picture as the default one ?
is it worth it for the ROM upgrade because I'm afraid that it would erase all of the previously installed ROM for HARD Reset ( cannot HARD RESET to go back to factory setting.)
Salam Damai Sejahtera !!!

I've no problems with upgrading my IIi with pug's rom (the one with o2 stuffs stripped and camera improvement) - many thanks to Pug! To me, it's worthed because it comes with 1.04 radio upgrade (better signal quality), more bluetooth profiles, and we have more ROM available without the O2 stuffs cluttering our ROM. I don't know whether the picture quality is improving because I seldomly use the camera feature. However, it does feel that the picture quality is improving! My IIi also feels stable almost all the time, the exception of which is when I experiment with some new overclocking softwares.
If you want stuffs like o2 connect etc. and your rom version to be back into 1.11.923 WWE, you can download custom rom files from other sites that provide download for Asian ROM and have them installed directly from the file explorer. I think Clustered has uploaded XDA IIi original Asia ROM somewhere. You do have to reinstall all of the programs in order to get the benefits of upgrading your rom. O yeah, where do you live anyway, pak Albert? I live in Jakarta. Cheers!

so that's the Ultimate ROM Upgrade for the O2 XDA IIi
all in one upgrade for everything Hassle Free.
Thanks PUG, I'll give it a try and I'll report it later, hopefully works best.
Terima kasih.
it works
the newest rom update from pug works...
thanks again

Upgrade SPV M650 to official HTC Rom ?

Hi there,
As a total newbie in the mobile world i was wondering the following:
As the models MDA C3, HTC P3300, SPV M650, etc etc are, lets say, the same underneath the skin, is it possible to put an original HTC rom onto my (CID unlocked) SPV M650.
It's got this annoying Orange Logo on it.
Regards,
Gerwin
if u'r cid unlocked yes
hm.. now that you're asking...
i used the imei unlock. Now it's sim-unlocked, but does that make ik cid-unlocked too?
if U used www.imei-check.co.uk (U recieved YOURIMEI.unl file and used c3unlock.exe-or newest is c3v2unlock.exe) yes u made your PDA CIDunlocked. Is this what U wanted to hear? I hope so.
btw. if u used other unlock company sorry i cannot help U
Ah, great.
This is what i wanted to hear. I've downloaded the latest HTC rom. So now i can get rid of the last Orange-stuff
I used an other unlock-comp (unlockthatmobile, more expensive, but same technique, dont ask why).
second question... is there anyway to 'dump' my current ROM in case i want a fall-back situation?
It's a dutch orange spv m650 rom.
Regards

No, that is not possible. Even if it was, you could not restore your device with this dump ROM.
ah.. in short... dumping a rom (to a pda) is a one-way trip...
there is no 'way back'. installing the new rom is like a way back.
i see... thanx
For all who're interested...
It worked !!!
One new happy artemis user at this scene.

Waldo wants to know how the ROM compares to the original Orange ROM. Most of the time it is that the alternative ROMs are in English, some people feel more at home with an English version. Secondly, alternative ROMs might be newer, and therefore have less bugs. And you won't have that Orange logo anymore. But its your own choice, of course.
p.s. This is an English forum, you have to write everything in English. Just 'regards' is not good enough.
Hi,
Could someone point me where I can downloaded the latest HTC rom for a P3300?
Thanks in advance

Christ! That's my thread but no answer what we want....
Keep trying, i know there'll be a hope for your device. Start to extracted your device ROM.
Why Why Why
Bramb, SPGI, others, we have been down this road before, I tried my best to cook a rom, I was reading and learning alot, So here is what I will do, Once I take the pictures of my Mainbord on my hw6925, that I f**ked up and flashed and made it a hw6915 with NO GSM. I will post the Mainboard here tonight on what is left of the Sable forum. I will dump my entire rom using the wizard kitchen tools, I had no problem dumping my rom, I ran into problems separating the SYS and OEM Folders. Seriousuly we barely have a forum left for Sable, since the 6xx 9xx and whatever have taken over. SPGI is looking into flashing our hw69xx series via JTAG. Damn thats long, As of right now, there is and will not be a WM6 for our devices.
Yes, It's possible
Yes, It's possible to install Win Mobile 6.1 on HP Hw6945, there is as website which is explaining, and explaining in portuguese friend, this month it was released, just search in google. It's is TRUE. I can't post url yet, I've made a tutorial today in english, but I can't post here
