Weird sound from end call key - Wing, P4350 General

for some reason my end call key on my Wing makes this annoying beep after i press it. I have also noticed that the Call History and delete buttons also make this odd sound. Any ideas as to why? I have tried to listen to all of the sounds that i could find on my Wing, but no luck finding the source of this annoying beep

Is it really that annoying? It just sounds like a beep...

yes it is annoying because it's not supposed to beep at all.
After some searching on my Wing, I have discovered that it's the dpadctl.mid sound that has somehow been mapped to the buttons mentioned in my first post about this issue. How can I unmap this sound from these buttons?
EDIT: I have found the solution for this problem if anyone else is having it.
Disable the "ding" sound when initiating a call and ending a call.
hkey_current_user\controlpanel\soundcategories\incall
change the initvol to 0. do the same for hkey_current_user\controlpanel\soundcategories\incallfeedback
The sound is dpadctl.mid
Disable SMS message sent notification:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
3. Next, click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
4. Name the New Key as "Settings"
5. Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
6. On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
Credit for these: they were found on the TreoCentral forums -- usually from Hobbes

For those of you that are too lazy to edit the registry or don't feel comfortable doing it. Here is the fix in .cab and .reg format to disable the beep.

AWESOME: Vibrate feedback on phone key press

faysel, over at the modaco forum has come up with this awesome cab that lets you get vibrating feedback everytime you press one of the number buttons in the phone. The vibration lasts as long (or as short!) as you press the button.
Great cab, very useful for knowing whether you have indeed pressed the key.
This is great, thank you. I used to use Redial with vibrating effect on my PDA2k (WM2003SE) but this is even better
don't expect a long battery life with that!

Are you kidding me? I mean what kind of a battery effect you think it will have? Its such a small vibe that I don't expect to have ANY noticable effect on battery life. First it vibes only when you dial phone numbers (how many a day? 5? 6? even 20? Its still nothing. Second, receiving a phone call, that is the vibration during it, probably uses more power than this addition will use in 20 calls...
I really disagree...
This is a great little program!
I don't like it because if you tap fast, it wont vibrate. In addition to this, there is a serious problem with the dialer after you uninstall it.
So I had to reinstall it and now i'm stuck with it
My rating : 0 (ZERO)
@Andrew_sh: use the attached cab to get the keytones back, then uncheck from the sounds and notifications settings to get a working silent dialer back.
@Koksie
Thanks for trying but unfortunately it won't fix it.
When I press the button , the tone will sound but if I press it again shortly after, it lags and makes a higher pitched tone.
Sorry to hear it didn't work Andrew, I have no idea how to fix this. I use the vibrate and am happy with it, on my Magician going back with this cab worked fine, I have no idea what is causing this in your Prophet. I hope you can figure it out and correct it, good luck with that.

Try this, it's a saved registry string of the original keys that the .cab modified. Hopefully i'll work for you without messing up anything else.
I had to rename the file vibrate off.reg.exe to ba able to attach it. Just delete the .exe part ie. vibrate off.reg
this is a technical forum
can someone paste here the registry keys which are being modified by this vibrate utility?
thanks
Using a registry editor navigate to the following keys and follow the directions. Do this for each of the listed registy keys
1. Rename Standard DWORD parameter "Sound" to "Sound1"
2. Create new String Parameter "Sound"
3. Assign value *vibrate* to this new parameter.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf#
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf*
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf0
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf3
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf4
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf5
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf6
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf7
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf8
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf9
this mod doesn't work fine for me, I noticed the vibrate a few time but it's not working everytime I tap on the Keypad...
Strange :?
Although the mod works fine, I had big troubles removing it again.
After removing the mod with the supplied cab file any keys pressed in the dialer would lag and emmit a short beep.
i finally succeeded in removing it manually:
First reinstall the vibrate mod again so that the keys vibrated again when pressed.
Then go into the registery keys posted above, deleted the parameter "Sound" and then rename the parameter "Sound1" back to "Sound".
Do this for all Dtmf keys.
Thats all
its true if you tap fast it wont vibrate at all.. very annoying. is there a way to make it vibrate for a set lenght.. much like the dtmf tones used to be.. no matter how long or short i press..
that would be very useful.
regards,
tom

I used this mod until I found out that I couldn't turn off vibrate on incoming calls anymore. I can't be sure that they are related, but the timing was right. The next time I did a ROM upgrade I didn't install it again. I use speed dial with Photo Contacts Pro anyway.

Not installing on Tytn / Black2.5
"Installation unsuccesfull, Not meant for this device"
Did anybody have more luck? How?
I don't like this
...the vibrate just doesn't trigger some of the time, which means you can't rely on tactile feedback on dialling, which makes it fairly useless. Sorry...
buhahahaha

works fine on my Jamin. Great app

You just want the ringer to RING without any other indication of an incoming call?
or
U dont want an INCOMING CALL ALLTOGETHER?
I gather it is the Former coz In the latter simply turn On <flight mode>
U can also set the device to recieve calls without Ringing by setting it to Pick up after <zero> calls.
Using a handsfree here would be an advantage.
U wont Miss any call.
I just want the ringer to RING without any other indication of an incoming call. Is it possible?

I doubt it... Seems kinda pointless, having the ability to tell you who is calling, but then deliberately turning it of..
yes, but when someone is calling, there is always a delay.
When you hear the first ring, the caller already heard it twice.
Maybe by disabling this, it would speed up the process a bit

That's the network, not the device.
It can't be the network, I never had this problem with my Nokia phones.
I personally think it's a flaw in the dialer application or in WinMobile itself.

Well... The cause may be that, but I doubt showing a caller ID screen will change the times....

I agree with texarcana here, the lights begin to flash on my phone when it rings a good few seconds before the screen get around to displaying the incoming call notification.
This is on WM 6.1, on my new HTC Diamond Touch.
I assume that notifications such as an incoming call or text message are either
A) A windows message sent to a background service awaiting it.
B) An application is executed with parameters describing the event
In either case, i believe it must be possible to redirect the notification in the registry. However, if the notification method is at fault (ie causing slow response, most likely to be true if B above is true.)
I'm going to investigate, I'll post an update of my results.
Im really sorry to bump this really old thread but has anyone solved this?? I would like to disable the incomming call notification too.. cuz I just added a full screen caller ID, but the damn notification pops up and covers the photos of my contacts.. so whats the point of the caller ID if i, not gonna be able to see the pictures
well i know its in Hkey_curent_User\controlpanel\notifications\phone
but im not sure how to disable it...
or even more important (for me) only disable it for a certain #...? thanks! anyonbdy
To Diamond I found. cab which options are unblocking "flash light for." in SOUND & NOTIFICATION it didn't give but nothing. I dug around in the HKLM/Drivers/Builtln/Keylight and Keypad register and I turned off LED generally speaking but I blocked buttons
first you'll need a registry editor, then edit the following key:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Phone
Duration=1
change the 1 to 0
im not sure if this is exactly the fix you were looking for. its intended for stopping he default caller id bubble from blocking fullscreen caller id apps like s2u2.

Didn't work for my samsung i760, what about DispllayOrder? Set it to 0 too? Or what would that do exactly? I'm curious now, it's set to 1 so if all else fails, I could change it back to 1 again... I guess. I'd just like to know first before I go blindly jumping into something.. haha
Sidenote setting it to 0 did work I just had to reset my phone so remember to reset your phone after changing this, I see the curtain try to popup, or at least the frames but nothing after that... Although sometimes it does act buggy and I'll completely miss or be able to answer a call cause my phone will constantly viberate (No pickup on ringtone at all starting) then after the call is missed the viberating will stop but my phone will still be frozen... Thats when the screen is off though..
Okay after a few tests sometimes it does work and sometimes it doesn't work at all and the curtain will still show up... Then again screen off sometimes the phone wont ring at all, I'm setting it back to 1... LoL
I just wish there was a way or a more advanced notification manager, it should be just like being able to disable incoming text messages and disabling sent message notifications..
____
I'd love a fix for this too, as I already have a picture caller id with PocketX Photo Contacts Pro...
But it's annoying as all get out!! To put it politely, I slide to answer then I've got to press the left softkey too! In order to answer a call, if I could just disable the built in windows mobile caller id curtain then it'd be a heck of a lot easier...
Please let's get a scripter on this to start working their way around and tweaking it to be able to be disabled..
Thanks!!
________
As for ring delay which is also a few other posters concern of the phone taking it's own sweet time to decide when to start ringing... This is what I used for my i760, I'm sure someone here could turn this into use for any phone make and model:
Ring Time Limit Fix:
**772 [service code]
six zeros for the code (000000)
Scroll down with the d-pad till you see end of basic nam
hit right d-pad to change "exit" to "more"
hit middle d-pad to select
hit the down d-pad 76 times till it says slot cycle index
Change this to 1 or lower EDIT: By entering the value with the number pad and then you hit the middle d-pad to exit.
This changes the frequency at which the phone talks to the tower and will
start the unit ringing MUCH faster. the lower you go the faster but the more battery it uses. I find 1 gets the phone ringing within 3 seconds but doesn't hinder battery life.
Click to collapse
I've got mine set to 0 though, but then again, I don't get very many calls, plus I have my phone charging a lot. Also I always carry around a spare extended fully charged battery in my holster... Usually my battery lasts a whole day... But with it set to 0 my phone picks up and rings at the end of the first ring on the callers end.

Getting rid of the annoying busy tone

Hi guys,
After getting a bit pee'd off with the busy tone playing loud over the speaker whenever you try to ring someone who is already on a call, I started looking around in the registry and found the key to disable it:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Sounds/BusyTone
Change the Script entry so that theres nothing in there.
That'll at least stop the annoying noise!

When you say "disable" it and "Change the Script" do you mean take the whole line out - delete it ?
Thanks.
Edit the Script entry so that it doesnt have any text in it - but leave Script there so that it still exists.

Busy CallDrop etc. sounds

Hi there!
I searched how to fix these sounds in the registry but nothing seems to work.
Many registry keys seem to point to "dpadctl.mid" that produces nothing, so I tried to change to Busy.wav (which was present in \Windows\) and to create a Busy.wma file in \Windows\ but no sound is produced.
May anyone tell me what these sounds are supposed to be and how can I make them to work?
This is the list:
BusyTone
CallDrop
CallWaiting
DialingDialingVoIP
DialPadCtlKey
All of them point to dpadctl.mid with different string value... Any idea?
Get rid of it!
I removed the string value, so it didn't work.
As I figured out, in the key "BusyTone" the string must be "apr" because the "p" seems to mean "play" and the "r" "repeat". But... the "a"?!?
Also, it is a little buggy, the volume is very low and the sound starts with a little delay, a choke, and then plays "tuuu tuuu tuuu" as it's supposed to be...
Here again to ask... Help!
News:
I found in MSDN something about ring scripts:
"apw3r" Ring
"p" Ring once
"s2apw3c150r" Increasing ring
"av3w3r" Vibrate
"v3w3apw3r" Vibrate then ring
"a" Silent
But my busy tone, set as "apr" (I supposed that removing "w3" is like removing 3 sec. delay), doesn't work well. The sound is reproduced by the speakers on the side of my Uni, not from the right one!
Waiting for suggestions...
In edit:
Modifying the key "Ending" in \ControlPanel\Sounds\ with script "p" and setting the wav file you wish, you will change the sound of the red phone button...

Turn off beep when call connects

When you dail a number on your phone and you press the call butten it makes a beep. Even when the phone is in silent mode it does that.
Is there a way to turn off this beep?

Dash 3G Call Initiation Beep
I need help...i am using the sk tools lite to edit the registry as suggested, but I cannot navigate to the HKCU/SOundcategories/callstart because it only shows HKCR, HKLM and no results found.
I have tried following the directions here, but need a little more guidance.
I am making calls in the evening and would really like to disable the call initiation beep (1 quick beep). I have no other beeps (such as minute timer) or disconnect tone.
If someone could please reply with specific instructions on how to navigate and disable, I would truly appreciate it. I have also tried a master reset, because I thought that at one point, I had found a way to turn it off (and i wouldn't hear it at all) but that was when i first got the phone a year ago. I can't remember how to turn it off now, I thought it was in one of the settings options, but have been through each one a dozen times, and still cant find it.
Please? anyone? Thank you.
I am using the HTC Snap, and I have the same problem as you. I cannot search HKCU using SKtools
However, using Mobile Registry Editor, I can access the registry on the HTC Snap, and going thru this path:
HK_Current User > Control Panel > Soundcategories >CallStart,
and changing the initVol to 0, I can get rid of the beep
However the change doesn't stick.
It reverts back to the irritating beep whenever I restart the phone or change profile... Anyone can help?!
Help anyone?
