Navigon and Himalaya - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi, I have a Himalaya and Mobile Navigator 6 with British maps installed. Can anyone tell me if there's anything I need to look out for before I buy a Bluetooth GPS device?
Thanks in advance, Tom.

Hi Boopop!
Well, I use Navigon 6.2 with a DACH-Map and everything works fine! Ok, the startup is a little bit slow, but hey, who cares?
Greetings

Hi swordfish
I intend to use it on my Magician device. It´s already installed on my SD-Card, but when I start the Navigator, it always complains there´s no map.
In which folder do I have to place the map files?
Cheers Lui

GPS Users

Hi Folks
Well, I'm looking at taking the GPS route soon, but I've a few queries about SatNav software.
I'm UK based and will be looking for some software to go on my M3100.
I don't like TomTom. I have tried it in the past and it is not to my liking. Sorry.
I've tried Navigon Mobile Navigator but I don't know if that is compatible with WM5 and I've got Memory Map to try soon enough. However, I'm also interested in what other people have got to suggest?
Thanks all in advance

Wayfinder's demos look pretty nice. Any idea how it compares to Telenav?
http://www.telenav.com
for uk based you try copilot, or navman, destinator, infomap pocket navigator dont bother with aa it runs way to slowly, the same goes for igo it will run fine but you need a tf card which i dont thnk its available on have a look at tomtom again things have changed since v2 and 3 not all for the better have a look at new go the app is the same
what about i-go?

I like igo for it's coverage of some eastern european countries (like Croatia) which I visit, but the others don't cover. I prefer tomtom for interface and features.
Best of all I'd like tomtom with full country coverage.
As it is, I use igo and forgo the speed camera notification.
Navigon works on WM5
Hi,
I am using my copy of Navigon V5.0 on both a T Mobile MDA Vario II (Hermes) and o2 XDA Exec, both running WM5. Works fine and looks lovely in VGa on exec.
Good luck

Thanks Richard There is an upgrade I can, er, download too that I think I'll give it a go.
Just need a bigger than 128mb microSD now But Yaay! This is good!!!
Thanks All

Unable to use gps properly.

Hey guys,
first post on this, what seems to be a great forum.
I recently bought the Jade and overall i'm very pleased with it.
Today I had some time to install gps software. I picked TomTom 7.450 because i like it more than Igo. The program itself is installed well but i just can't get the receiver activated.
I allready used several settings (disabled agps, 'built-in gps' or 'other nmea receiver' in tomtom, also with different baud rates) but it keeps saying i have a bad reception, it's waiting for a useable signal and it doesn't find any satellites.
I already installe the cab file i found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3031549&postcount=5 but that also doesn't seem to help anything.
Would someone be willing to give a step by step guide in how to get this thing fixed?
Secondly, can someone tell me what setting I should use in orde to still see the 'start button' when i'm using TomTom. With my last pda it remained there when TomTom was activated, so I could also use other programs but with the Jade i can't seem to find how to do this.
Sorry if there are some grammatical errors in this post, I'm from Belgium . Thanks in advance!
update:
i managed to get some signal and got a fix, but after about a minute it was lost again and it won't find it again.
Also I installed IgO8 but it won't start on my jade so I guess I'll have to do it with TomTom...
OK, let's try to find where is the problem .
First chceck your registry. Find out what is your settings in this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS
Set GPSMode to 1
Set EnableAGPS to 0
If you already installed that CAB, it should be like this. This is going to make your GPS fix slower but more accurate and reliable (or it seems to do that ).
Second, download and install GPS Tuner from http://www.gpstuner.com/ . This is a great GPS software for offroad navigation which I use when testing GPS recievers.
Do not allow it to set your GPS receiver automatically. Set your GPS in GPS Tuner to COM 4, baud rate 4800 and Type 1. Go to "GPS Panel" and click green button "Start GPS". Do not leave this tab, because you can see how your receiver is getting fix. Be patient, especially if you do not have a good view of sky. The reason why I use this to test GPS is that you can see satelite signal even if you do not have a fix. Not all GPS applications do that.
If GPS Tuner is able to get fix in some time, there is something wrong with your TT settings. If it is not, there is something wrong with your GPS receiver or registry settings.
In the gps panel tab, the following results were given after pressing start gps (after about 2-3mins):
Lateral and longitudinal positions, altitude were correct
PDOP: 3,7 (good)
Fix: 3d fix
Furthermore it found 16 sats from which 7 were active.
So i presume it's not the gps unit itself but the TT settings? Registry settings are ok i think.
Many thanks allready!
Use latest version of TT
Try to install the latest version (v7.9) of TomTom. This one works ok on the Jade and you can also use the latest maps.

Right! And normaly there is no need to change any gps settings...
I just installed the latest TomTom and everything works fine.
Hey,
i got the 7.450 version to work and it's working brilliantly. Thanks for the link to the 7.9 version Jgeerts, but i'm going to stick with the 7.450 version now it's working .
Heb trouwens even even op je link rondgesnuffeld en de flitspalen zullen erg goed van pas komen! Waarvoor dank natuurlijk.

Yes, but version 7.9 gives correct status for the sattelite reception and it also supports the latest v8.15 (and higher) maps. Version 7.450 does not support the v8 maps.
To be very honest. The file you linked me to (http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/8910078/74070269/sharing.html) gives me an ttsystem file after unpacking without an extension (no .cab, no .exe) and i actually don't have a clue how to use it
edit:
ok, got it to work, i installed the TomTom_7.910.9185 QVGA Black. I hope this one's ok?

@ jgeerts -- thanks very much for linking it. Is it the exe file in the 'tomtom pda' folder that I should download? (TomTom Navigator 7.910.9185 qvga black.exe)? Or is it TTN_7.910.9185_Cracked.rar?

I also have TTN_7.910 9185 QVGA Black.cab and when i trie to install it on my HTC Touch 3G NL i'am getting a errormessage: Installation of TTN_7.910 9185 QVGA Black.cab failed.
This file is okay, i had it installed on my HP iPaq hx2110 with WM5.
Anyone any idea?
TTN7.910 works now, read below how i managed it:
It allready had TTN_7.450.9028 VGA.cab installed on my HTC Touch 3G NL, although the Touch 3G is a QVGA device it worked (some textlines are to big for the screen).
On this thread i found following link: (http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/8...9/sharing.html).
There you can find: TT7_v7.910.9185_vga_via_update_van_7450.9028.rar in the tomtom pda folder.
In this download you wil find TomTom_7.450.9028.cab and 2 versions of TT7_v7.910.9185, black and blue incl. data.chk
After installing TomTom_7.450.9028.cab (or in my case TTN_7.450.9028 VGA.cab) all you have to do is copy the preffered version, black or blue of TomTom Navigator.exe and Data.chk to your device: in the folder (phone or storage memory)\Programmabestanden\Navigator.
Since i have a Dutch device the folder is called Programmabestanden, i don't know how it's called in English.
On my device there is also a folder Program Files, where in my case TT is not installed.
But i think most of you can figure it out yourselfs by know how it works, otherwise your not worthy a PDA.
With TTN 7.450 my HTC could find satellites but it was unable to show me how many it found. GPS receiption was good although. With A-GPS turned OFF.
With TTN 7.910 the problem above is solved, my HTC stil finds satellites and now i can see how many of them there are out there in the sky.
Another nice thing is that now although i installed VGA TT7.450 and replaced it with VGA TT7.910 i can read all text on the screen.
The text is smaller so it fits the screen but still very good readable.
Sincelry,
a big fan of TomTom.
Final solution to this problem !
Disabling AGPS is the cause of the issue we have here.
I've done some testing with AGPS enabled and GPSMode set to 1 and the results are good (quick fix and almost no lag).
Please read my reply on another topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3143383&postcount=17
A cab is attached to it to make the registry changes.
Kind regards.
boring GPS fix lag...
I wonder if all Jade owners are happy w/ their GPS performance..
Despite experiencing many tweaks, it still lags too much..
Any suggestion from the guys are happy w/ it..??

I am quite happy with my GPS performance. However i am using Garmin XT. There is lag, of course but probably by a few ms (a few feet) but it does not make me miss a turn or a junction.

Wrong, 7.450 does support v8.15 maps, but only with keygen v7. don't ask me why, the answer is: because!
7.910 needs keygen v8 for v8.15 maps.

TomTom 7.910

Hi all
Had a search around and couldn't find nothing relevant.
Has anyone managed to get tomtom 7.910 to install on the x1. I have read that it is suppose to run on wm6.1 devices but when im trying to install on my x1 it says device not supported.
I had tomtom 7.450 installed and this worked perfect.
Cheers

is it much better than tomtom 7.450?
Hey
If u can point me to the right place i will be happy to read but i searched for like an hour. i found the post with the cab in it but couldnt find nothing about my problem.
Works perfectly for me too with 8.15 maps. Although I have to admit that I didn't read a single word anywhere as someone was kind enough to install it for me.
I found that Tomtom 7.9.. is better suited for the Xperia X1.
I tried the 7.4 and because of the higher resolution the letters were too small, but in the version everything is optimized so it seems.

SNAP Navigation software help

Just received... my old Tom TOm 5 isn't working, IS working but can't find GPS receiver!
I am using TT 5, the same used with Wings and Excalibur, with external GPS!
Solutions? Have you tested some other navigation software?
Try Sygic McGuider or Garmin Mobile XT. Those should work .
Sygic Mcguider... the only way is to buy an (expensive) SD pre-installed version
Garmin XT, expensive "should work"? I can't buy a "should work"
Sygic doesn't wok!
Installed, looking for fix.... error, program crash
Hi , it seem copilot 7 its compatible too
Route 66, ver 8 works flawless. The fastest fix i've seen on htc phone! Even indoor...

Almost. You can use 95% of the menu's with the trackball and/or keyboard.
Only a few menu's, which usually are only used rarely to configure the device, can't be selected without FakeCursor or SPHelper.
So after setting up TomTom the daily use doesn't require any tools, just the trackball and keyboard!
exactly, what kind of version u use?
The problem i have with my snap is that i cant select another country with keyboard or trackball?
Do you use a specific key for that?
i'm using tomtom software
Confirmed, full version of McGuider 2009 is working, altough trial is not...

Hi,

Couldn't change the country with the Snap.
With my mobiler I changed it.
Now I can use it like tomtom shoul.

For those of you that cant get Navigation software to 'find' your GPS install MSGPSID to set your port.

Sorry for the looong delay, I am using the R66 WM version. The only BUG is the GPS setting installed. I discovered, after installing TOM TOM, that the the TT signal bars aren't displayed, even in full reception.
I foud this is a well known bug related to Route 66 installation
But TT works, even without the signal bars

what is your version of tomtom ?
TomTom-Home
Hey guys,
I got tomtom running, but can't get a connection to tomtom home. I've got not only my maps there (ok - can hack my own maps to get them running), but also ordered the traffic and speedcam services.
Has anyone an idea, how i can get a connection to tomtom-home? The fault can't be an incompatibility to WM 6.5. Had it on my Diamond 2 running. Has HTC built in a barrier for this feature, to help CoPilot?
Tomtom simply answered to my mail - sorry - incompatible... Great. I hope, they would set my account free to a new device, if i get a connection to tt-home.
Excuse me for my bad english - hope u'll get my point ;-)
