Any Sprint Users wanting a Touch? - Mogul, XV6800 General

Hey guys, not sure if this is the wrong forum, but I figured I'd post here anyways. I have a Touch by HTC through Sprint, (aka HTC Vogue) and I hate it. Well, nothing's wrong with it, really... I just miss my Mogul. So if anyone has an activated Mogul who wants a Touch and wants a no-hassle, straight across trade, contact me via email or reply to this thread.

I can post pictures if you like, but getting to a camera is pretty difficult, nearest one I can borrow is about 15 miles away, lol. Anyways, prefer someone near the Southwestern Iowa/Eastern Nebraska/Northwestern Missouri area. Very simple swap, just go to a real Sprint retailer and ask em to swap ESNs. Can keep your same number and all, and hard - reset both devices back to factory conditions. Also, that way you can see the device before you swap, so you can tell its quality. Let me know if interested!

Wow -- in the store there is about $100 difference. (The Touch is less expensive).

Not anymore. Sprint even'd out the price of the 2. Check their online site. Same price, after rebates.

Found a Tmobile Wing last night

yes indeed! on the ground... brandddddd new. I mean not a scratch or scuff on it... so lucky.
But I am wondering a few things... first off what to do with it? I already have a Cingular 8525 (Hermes) and I do have Tmobile and live in America.
What is better about the Wing compared to the 8525? I heard there was a processor boost and more internal memory is this correct?
Also, how and where to get it unlocked? I travel to Europe periodically.

One idea. Just bring it to the "Lost and Found Office" - you would be happy if oneother would do it.

They also record the IMEI with each call. Just an FYI. So, if it's reported stolen, it can (in theory) be barred from T-Mo's network.

Nice. Let's hope that you never have the misfortune of losing yours and having someone find it with that attitude.
I work for t-mobile... and they can track to see where an imei is being used, so they will find you, and what they will do is cut your service off if you are using it for too long... im just saying
What ever happened to that phone????? You may be able to find the guy in here:

Man WTF?! The Hermes is way better compared to the Wing. The Wing has half the CPU (200 vs. 400). I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet since it was one of the questions the man asked. Why would you even WANT to keep it?
so what have you decdied to do?
Dude, check "owner info" and return it.
If anyone decided to keep my Wing when they could easily return it to me, I'd pour A-1 sauce down his pants and let my pit bull loose...
FYI...
I have researched the "IMEI tracking" issue at length with both Tmobile and ATT (formerly Crapular) and both sides have told me repeatedly (CR, managers and acct. reps) that they DO NOT blacklist IMEIs.
Also, they DO NOT have agreements with other providers around the world (or each other) to share each operator's blacklisted IMEIs.
I know UK providers share their lists, and Voda providers throughout the world share the Voda list.
When I asked about police involvement, I was told that there needs to be a court order for the IMEI tracking info to be released.
Now, that being said... I agree with all others. You should return it. There is plenty of info in a phone to figure out who it may belong to. Call records, SMS, emails, maybe a doc or two, owner info. Besides, if the person lost the phone they will report it lost, Tmobile will deactivate the SIM and at the subscriber's request activate a new one. If you just were to call that number (which would be found in the phone itself) then you will reach the owner.
Personally I have never lost a phone. Bricked one once but never lost. Quite frankly I would be pissed and angry. Very pissed and angry! And if someone was to return it, I would take them out for a very nice steak dinner. Being the phone nut that I am, money is really no object when it comes to something i've dedicated my spare time to for many years.

Athena (X7501) in Australia.

Hi all,
Just a quick question - does anyone know of any Australian X7501 vendors?
Or should I give up looking here and just track one down on eBay?
Thanks!
DMcG
Yeah it is better to give up.. get on ebay.. or asking a friend to bring u one from oversea..
i think australia will have to some time iwht iphone of even later
Cool, thanks.
The reason was that HTC has not plan of bringing it to Australia/New Zealand.
I had an email asking them exactly this question way back in March/April. They said that Telcos there wanted to charge them an arm and leg for "testing fee", which HTC absolutely refused to pay. That was one of the key reasons for not bringing it in. I don't understand the political and commercial side of these things, so I mine from Singapore. As it turned out, the connection to Telco was totally a non-issue, so I did'nt know what testing and configuration they were talking about.
The only problem is warranty. If anything goes wrong, I'd have to sent it back to Singapore. Touch wood, so far there has been no problem.
Wow, really? That's perverse. "Testing fee".... bloody hell! I wonder if that'll happen with the iPhone?
Thanks for the info! Answered a few questions.

Touch Dual Manual

Morning all
i know this is an odd question to ask but does anyone have a manual that came with their touch duel they'd be willing to part with?
The reason I ask is, I want to sell mine but i lost the manual when my father decided he wanted to open his new business toy early before just handing it to me, now he cannot find it. I realise its just on the CD and you can download it but it always looks better and gets the best price if its a real copy. i am willing to accept any networks branded manual as they all contain the right material. Oh and of course i am willing to pay for your trouble and loss. Just PM me if anyone is interested.
Thanks all
Dan

Want to switch from Verizon to Sprint, can I take my Titan with me?

Title says it all...
Verizon's rates are getting outrageous. I pay $170+ per month for unlimited everything (calling, messaging, and data) and that does not include all the extras like music, tv, and gps like Sprint does. Sprint has much better rates to offer. They can save me over $50 a month, and that certainly adds up.
What's involved in flashing my XV6800 to work on the Sprint network?
(I apologize if this has already been covered, I searched and didn't find it. Point me to the thread if it has been covered)
-Randy
I'll take a guess and say pray to god your esn can be added to sprint. I mean I never tried to do it, but with the esn I'm pretty sure that's important
I've seen similar questions on the boards here and there. Either sprint to verizon or the other way around. I can't remember. I would start by calling sprint and asking them. If they take the esn, then the rest is easy. You can go to the htc website to download the official rom, or if you prefer a customized rom, follow the directions for the rom of your choice.

It is possible but its very rare... it really takes an act of God to get this done. They claim they can't do it but this really can happen.
their policy is not to do it, but if you talk to the right person, and talk to them the right way, it could happen, honestly i wouldnt hold my breath though
i would say your best bet is to try to find someone trying to take their titan the other way (sprint to verizon) and trade
U wouldn't want to take your VZW phone anyways. The sprint mogul is a little better to work on. GPS is unlocked so you can put your favorite program like Google if you like that.
just get sprint to give it to you for free when you sign up for the simply everything plan. i thought best buy was doing that (maybe still are, you should check). but i sell cell phones and you are likely to convince them to give u one for free, if they wouldnt already.
it's very very unliky eventhought it's technically posssible
Sprint keeps a database of all registed ESN that can be activate on their network and ONLY phones with the SPRINT logo (and hybird Nextels) are in that database.
but doesnt hurt to try..u might get lucky
Wait til sprint gets the Touch Pro in a few months
Then you could justify the upgrade cost because of the monthly savings you will get
I agree with you, I have Verizon and its crazy how much they nickel and dime their customers.

They are the same phone if you use a custom ROM like DCD. I am on VZW and have the GPS working just fine. All it would take is to put the Stock Sprint ROM on my phone and then go back to DCD's custom ROM. But as everyone has said Sprint taking the ESN is the deciding factor.
I gotta figure something out. I love Verizon's service, never had any problems, but I can't take the outrageous bills anymore. I'll be happy to shell out my $100 early termination fee and make that up in 2 billing cycles from Sprint.
Anyone have any connections or direct numbers for Sprint tech support where I can look into checking my ESN number?

Sprint?

Hey guys.. What do you think about this... .I have a HTC Hero from Sprint running on Metropcs network. Of course I can browse but no Google maps, or 3rd party apps work. So Should I Change to Sprint and bring my HERO and use it with them, take in mind I have a discount with them of 15% off, and the 450 min plan with unlimited I think WIll be nice...
What do you think?
PS If my phone is in metropcs? and I take it to Sprint, will they notice? The question is will they be like....We won't touch that phone?
The rep most likely will not notice if you bring the phone in the store. As one of the only reps in my store that care about the technical aspect of the phones, I do take an interest as a curiosity, not a reason to give someone a hard time. Majority of reps would not even know what they would be looking for. They will simply take the back off, scan the phone's ESN number and be done with it. Only issue you might run into is if the phone has been reported lost/stolen. That WILL cause issues. Also, if you did something to changer you ESN, you need to get it switched back to the original so that it matches the sticker on the back. No sticker = no activation so don't try that as a short cut. Good luck!
nice....well do you recommedn Sprint?, and no I did not mess with ESN at all. so the phone should be good to go . Ty
I actually really like sprint, so if you find it economical switching would probably be a good choice. You may also want to do a little searching to see how coverage is in your area. I know here in Hawaii coverage is very good. Actually it's been excellent everywhere I've taken it, LA, upstate NY, Detroit, Wash. DC, Oahu.
Well coverage wise... I live in FL i think everything has good signal down here
