I updated my rom to the 3.14 for the gps. after that I was stuck in the bootloader screen, downgraded rom to the one from htc website (2.17).
now phone works fine except when I press the power button to turn the display off you should be able to just press it again to turn it back on.Instead my green status light stays lit for like 2 seconds and then starts blinking like normal but the screen never turns on. Must remove battery and phone reboots fine just cant touch the power button same thing keeps happening. Any help or ideas on this?
Have you tried a hard reset?
yes it has me press r to confirm then after it says to reset press spacebar to boot, and still same problem.
i've even tried installing the 2.17 rom update a few times but nothing seems to help, I even thought about calling sprint to see if they could help. I'm currently running the latest rom from htc so i dont think they could say its my fault and them not fix it

Having this exact problem with the 2.17 ROM. It's linked FROM Sprint's site so I'm sure it's an official release.
Let me know if you find out anything and I'll do the same.
I had the same problem. I tried to re-flash to an older hard-spl (I think it was olipro 1.10) and everything seemed to work again.
I'm having this same problem as well...
This is a symptom caused by running the level 1.x unlocker with the level 3.x ROM, or the level 2.x unlocker with the level 2.x ROM.
Flashing the proper bootloader (unlocker) should fix your problem. Level 1.x bootloader with level 2.x ROM and level 2.x bootloader with level 3.x ROM.

As the title says, I have an Elf & when you press the power button (which is meant to turn the screen on and off) it shuts the device off instantly.
I first tried doing a hard reset
Then I tried another rom, to see if it was to do with the OS
& then I tried two other roms.
Ive still got the same problem.
Thinking of taking it back to the place I got it.
Anyone got any thoughts on any solution before I take it back?
Im thinking its a hardware problem that I cant really solve.
which spl are you using? I had a similar prob when i upgraded my rom to 6.1, but aftr using 3.07 spl, problems were gone..
I was using 3.07, but it doesnt matter now.
I took it back to the shop (with all accessories etc) and they replaced it for me. I feel bad about hastling them.
I took them an Elf, but apparently they have given me a Elfin, but on their system, they both just come up as p3450
But it works! thats the main thing.
and its gold and shiny.
Maybe somebody know how to solve this problem without turn elf back to the shop?)

I had exactly this problem before I knew I have an Elfin.
I flashed Elf Roms on my Elfin, that caused the problem.
It boots regularly, but it will do a soft reset every X
minutes. Then I flashed an Elfin Rom and everything
works fine ^^
Maybe I'm wrong, but i think its Elf. It has 64Ram & 128 Flash, or they may not correctly view after flash or i dont understand differences?
It boots regulary every X minutes because it goes to sleepeng mode if device is not using. If this option off, it will not boot by its own, only if i press power button(
Hi all!
My Trinity does not always start up properly. I press the power button and the green light comes on but nothing else shows on the screen and it stops booting. This happens very ramdonly and mostly when it has been switched of for a while. It stops just before showing a screen with red lettering where you can read the ROM version & other stuff. Then I have to soft reset a few times and it will boot up ok.
Most of the time it starts up ok but this is really annoying, can you please help me!!!
Try a hard reset and install a stock/official ROM if the problem persists.
If it is still happenning with an official ROM, might as well send it for repair...

I've got a really annoying problem with my backlight.
First it starts to "shut down" for a while, i thought it whas some kind of protection cause it was under direct sunlight for a while ... but now i flashed the new german rom, (RUU_BlackStone_HTC_GER_1.56.407.2_Radio_52.60.25.3 3_1.12.25.16DE_Ship) but i forgot to flash the right HSPL before so I'd some colour problems ... then I flashed everything in the right order and it works ... but after some minutes the backlight is turned to a minimum ... its on but nearly not visible ... same thing after a hardreset

Have you tried going to settings > Power > and then either Backlight or Advanced and delselect 'turn off backlight'
yes i tried it out but nothing happens ... i read that this problem appears on the diamond and that its a bug in the htc rom after flashing .... could it be the same ?

Possibly, but I haven't experienced it and I flash new roms every other day. You said you followed correct procedure i.e. everything in the right order and flashed a new rom. Which HSPL are you using and which rom? i.e. is it HSPL 1.56+ and a 1.56 based rom?
Is your screen darkening after some minutes straight after you have flashed new rom, or after installation of new software?
yea its the HSPL 1.56+ and a 1.56 based rom, some minutes after flashing its gone dark, no software installed. maybe I made a mistake, how can I see what HSPL version ?
I tried to install LUMOS but even this can't handle the problem ...
After installation of any new rom, the backlight turns off after a few seconds/mins. But this is generally down to the power settings as described above. For your screen to still turn off automatically afterwards leads me to believe there is something else turning off backlight. Even when installing rom incorrectly back when I was a noob the screen didn't behave in this mannner. I'll rack my brain and get a cup of coffee and see if my memory comes back

starge problem but i dont think that ur volume button is damaged cause u say that it boots if u wait
it might be some damaged data in ur flash in that part that controls what buttons do

What does your SD card contain? Are there any softwares or programs can cause problem as a conflict wih your device? Maybe you got a problem similar to me.Take your SD card out, install your device back to the original WM6.1, then up the HardSPL_v2(by Cmonex), then you can up the Rom you want.

I actually do not have any SD (microSD) card in it. I have two Touch Vivas and the broken one just does not behave like the working one. If I hold the red + green + power on the working one I get the factory reset screen. On the broken one it does not stop it from going tri-color. I have tried the reset button under the cover a hundred times.
The fact that it sometimes tries to boot into Windows (gos into the smart mobility screen) gives me hope but I am ready to dump the phone.

Try to get back to the old spl, if the same problem presists, then flash stock spl and flash the official rom from htc. I guess, and just i guess ur viva model number is deffer.
Hmm, i have the same problemen with my pharos, and the rom and SPL are the original, never flashed ones. When I hard reset, normal procedure happens, formatting, then winmo 6.0 is reinstalled, you get the screen calibration, customization, then it resets, and I'm back to the threecolor screen.. what should I do?

hmm.. then u should try switching to other official version or custom rom to fix that.

Thank you for your advice, from you say I guess you think the ROM i have now is 'broken' ? I've tried resetting it and reinstalling it several times, after the forth time I had a working phone again, but that was only until I turned it off. When I turn it back on: woosh, three color screen again. Somehow i have the feeling this might be more related to the physical memory being broken than the rom on the memory, or am I mistaken? Wouldn't the phone be unable to work if the Rom was really 'broken' ? I am just guessing here, I am going to try fixing it with a new rom this weekend, I am just trying to figure out if that is going to help or probably not

After freezing my device I tried to open but not opened then I tried to make soft reset again it didnt open then I tried hard reset but the normal menu didnt come instead the menu which is attached appear and telling something serial but not doing hard set now I dont know what I must do Please help

Thats your bootloader.....
to do a hard reset its...
hold down volume up and volume down
tap and release power
keep holding both volume buttons down....
I think whats happening is that your only holding the volume down.
Try taking your battery cover off to get a better press and making sure that up and down are held, then tap the power button.........

What happened to make it freeze crash?
Can you still get to bootloader? (the screen you posted above)
If you can then go to that screen and connect your phone via usb......
wait a few mins and let us know if the word "serial" at the bottom of the screen changes to "usb"........
If it does you should be able to flash a rom via your computer......

nothing only I have re install sprite and rim backups (whic I had before) it started normally and while working freezed I closed and not opened it is staying and wait at (HTC guietly brillant ) stage

My friend, if the phone starts at all you definitely should be able to do HARD RESET.
You are probably not doing well the hard reset. You cannot destroy bootloader with backup programs.
You should :
-hold pressed volume up and volume down buttons
-tap and release power button
-keep holding both volume buttons down for several more seconds until three color screen appears and shortly after that a message will appear on lite blue screen. Then release both volume buttons. Then press volume up button, usually it is necessary to press it once again. System restoring bar will begin to raise up to 100%. After that pres again volume up and system will restart.
By the way your initial rom is 1.66 but on the pictures is 1.48. So you did pictures after you flashed it. Also noted that you have flashed HSPL.
Suggest to download your initial original rom and install it from the memory card. Not sure but may be downgrade of the rom is not possible from 1.66 to 1.44.

I can get the bootloader but it keeps showing "serial" even after connecting it to to the computer.
the "usb" does not come and i cannot update the rom
currently i'm using hyperdroid GBX v11 which is working fine (just one problem that it shows blank screen after a call ends and no display till another call comes) please help

Try, using another USB port or computer.
Reinstall activesync.
Have you tried flashing from SD card?

If you are 100% sure your stock rom is correct. rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.NBH, put it on the root of your SD card, and boot into bootloader, it will flash.
IF YOU ARE UNSURE IF YOUR STOCK IS CORRECT POST HERE FIRST OR YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE,
better to look noob than to brick, there are too many versions of this phone to mess around here.
