if we want to change the serial number (not imei) of a dumped rom , how can we do it? i mean how can i change the serial number of hp rw6815 ?
Does it even store the serial number in the dumped ROM? I thought that was hard-coded into the device??

Model Number can be changed, it is help in nk.exe In the XIP and in the SPL.
The DeviceID is the IMEI, So yes technically (this is in the CID block) but its a damn dodgy area and you can easily get locked up for altering it.
Thanks for the reply. I have no interest in changing the IMEI number. I am hoping there is a way to change the hardware" id. Leaf (www.leaf.co.za) has a free navigation software programe but only for PDA's id'd as HTC. They do not want to support Imate's as they do not have the support contract for Imates.
hi all, since i flashed spl all works ok except when I try and install a work application called good mssaging it says unable to retreive handheld serial number and Rom version....is there a way to electronically insert my serial number?

I've got two H96 Max+ (CPU: RK3328, RAM: 4GB, ROM: 32GB, OS: Android 8.1).
The devices are already rooted.
Unfortunately both devices have the same serial number, so I want to change the serial number (can't use an app on both devices simultaneously because of the serial number)
I try to install Xposed (via APK) but I get following error:

Error 1 occurred
Is there any possibility to change the serial number and/or get Xposed installed?
I couldn't find a way to change the serial number without Xposed.

You should remember your SN, hex-edit deviceinfo.img, replace the SN inside the deviceinfo.img with your SN, save, and flash the file
