nes emulator - Touch CDMA General

Has anyone found an nes emulator that works on the vogue? I've tried pocket nes and pocket nester neither work.

I have PocketNES on my Touch... It works fine I just have to reassign buttons every time I reopen the ap.

I use pocketnester with no problems at all.

anywhere really. Pocketnestor automatically searches all directories for roms. I keep them in a folder on my storage card.
that being said, i'm finding this doesn't work that fast on the Vogue. It's near if not impossible to press two command buttons at the same time (say up and A or left and B...or even A+B together), so i find that it limits the games that can be played
i also find that certain games run *reaaall* slow, even if i update threading to realtime.

Anyone have trouble assigning the call button to the controller on the touch?

i followed the link to sourceforge, but which file am i supposed to download and extract onto my HTC touch? i'm still very new to this, any help would be appreciated.

Totally. i've discovered that for that reason, most action and platform games are useless. However, any type of puzzle game doesn't require multiple key touches... also, RPGs are great. I've been playing Final Fantasy 3(english hack) for a week now, and it's made my trips to work AWESOME.

I found that increasing the frame skip and thread priority in options helps with this. problem is,i find that if my thread priority high or real-time , when you're done with your emulator - you'll need to soft reset. It seems to cause some kinda memory loop

Enhanced version of PicoDrive(best Genesis emulator for PPC)

Hi everyone,
This is my first post, so hello. I got my HTC Wizard (T-Mobile MDA branded) earlier this week and have been experimenting with it quite a bit since. One thing I really wanted working, since I'm a huge Sonic fan (and I legitimately own all of the cartridges, don't pirate!) was to get a working Genesis emulator going on the Wizard. I couldn't even get PocketGenesis to load, and MorphGear's genesis support is ludicrously slow on a Wizard, so I was about to give up hope until I found PicoDrive. This free emulator really needs more love, the core is written in ARM assembler and it BLOWS AWAY the alternatives. It only has two downsides: no sound, and no save state support, at least in the version available on the developer's site. I decided to fix these problems.
Now let me emphasize I did NOT write this program. The guy who did is awesome and you can visit his site at www.finalburn.com.
I downloaded the source and enabled the sound he had disabled for the release version. However, it sounds horrible, so I've left it disabled. I _DID_ add proper save states to the emulator, however. (It was a simple modification of the existing code for loading/saving movies) Since this was a feature I thought others would benefit from (and also just to encourage others to try PicoDrive) I thought I would post my modified version to this site. You'll find the Load State and Save State options on the Options menu during play.
An additional tip - by editing the PicoConfig file, which you'll find in your device's root directory, you can remap the key config for the emulator. If there's interest I'd be willing to add a GUI to help you do this in a week or two when I have time. (We're nearing the end of the college semester currently, so I'm pretty busy at the moment)
Let me know what you guys think, and enjoy! The attached file is an ARM exe, just copy it to your device and run.
Hi, where can i get the games to run with this emulator?
I used to love the sonic and mario games but i'm useless with finding the games.
Thanks for any help i get in advance,
Ash
I really can't tell anyone where to get ROMs; I don't want to do anything of questionable legality on this site.
Is there anyway of getting this to work in landscape so that you can use the keyboard??
oh wow i hadnt thought of that, id pay real money for a spectrum and bbc emu working in landscape and using the keyb
@maltloaf: i'll look into that in a few weeks and see what i can do!
as far as landscape orientation for picodrive, that's definitely something that can be done. i'll get back to you guys in about 3 weeks with a new version that'll have the most recent picodrive engine, as well as landscape/portrait orientation (i agree, i vastly prefer to use landscape mode) and keyboard config within the app.

Picodrive
Hello. I'm new to both forums and the XDA2. I cannot express how cool this version of picodrive is!
I have to say it took me a while that you have to copy the exe file to the xda then run it.
After that I couldn't figure out how to control it until I accidentally mashed some buttons.
Since then!!!
I love this emu, I love the games and now that it has been fiddled with it's so much better.
Thankyou!
I found a new version of Picodrive 0.047 on this forum and it work's perfectly! Fast, sound, landscape, full screen, remap button ability, and save. About halfway down the page is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...=0&postorder=asc&highlight=picodrive&start=25

Newbie with Verizon XV6800 - Help

I have to admit that I am overwelmed with all of the info regarding the xv6800. I just got mine this past Friday. I have not activated it yet although I did have Verizon transfer my contacts from my Moto E815. I am holding off activating until I learn more about the phone.
The feature that attracted me the most about the phone was the WiFi capabilities. I do not plan on getting the data plan. I do not know how to find out if the phone has Win Mobile 6.1. I would like to have it serve as a GPS.
Some questions:
If I am at Win 6.0 should I upgrade?
Is anyone aware of ant tutorials on using the phone and O/S ?
Is there a way to activate GPS by basically down / uploading a program and clicking on it?
What applications would be best? I plan on surfing, web-mailing, listening to music, working with the office applications.
Is there any "must have" hardware I should get?
Thanks and I appologize it my questions seem very basic but as I said, I am overwhelmed.
Nelson
1 not until you understand what the phone has to offer stick with 6.0
2 not me
3 yes but phone must be unlocked gpstoday and baf gps toggle are the best for me
4 surfing=skyfire music=s2p
5 screen protector
A
didnt it come with an interactive cd with a tutorial? mine did :S
if you are interested in musicand watching video you should definitly get the slunkworks flash bundle and tcpmp media player so you can goto you tube and watch streaming videos the way it should be done on mobile
i have uploaded the files for you if you are interested...install tcpmp first then the flash bundle,,if you need assistance let me know or search for "cab instyallation"
last about your GPS there has been people saying they have gotten it to work through google maps but it requires rom flashing first...but like GeLoPeZ said get to know your stock rom first...maybe youll like it
flaws
the fone does have a few flaws tho...the youchscreen is pointless wen it comes to small icons or scrolling...unless u want to get out your stylus everytime
it can be slow at times but nothing a little registry edit cant help out with a little...
almost everything has to be manually shut off or closed through running programs screen likr data connection etc,,,unless you get a few programs that can stop that hassel
the touch keyboard isnt worth anything its awful...unless, like i said you want to keep getting out your stylus
cant customize text message ringtones with custom ringtones
in all...most all these things can be fixed thgrough rom flashing or free downloadable apps and cabs i give it an 8 out of 10
hope i was helpful

FTouchSL fixes that issue. There's a free version somewhere on this forum, but for a little over 10 bucks (USD), it's worth it to get the commercial (kinetic scrolling!).

You can.... Start > Settings > Sounds and Notifications
From the "Event" menu, select "Messaging: New Text Message" and select the tone you want.
I think the OP was saying that you cant "Assign" a specific "tone" to a user. Just a tone for all incoming texts.
I might be off base......but I don't think so.
this is to enhance your phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2526683 try it

Yes you should. There is really no reason not to. Just remember that flashing the new ROM will delete all of your data, so back it up first.
6.1 is useful for a variety of reasons:
1. You can solve your GPS problem by doing it (see below)
2. It has a task manager built in
3. It has Remote Access built in (so if you need to connect with your work desktop, it's nice to have it....you can go and load RA anyways with 6.0, but it doesn't come with it)
4. Has some better screens for managing connections (IMO).

Why yes there is! Only recently some amazing devs on this forum (skywing) devised an amazingly simple process for activating internal GPS. I just did it last night and it took literally 3 minutes to do and I now have Live Search, Google Maps, Amaze, and two other GPS based apps running on it.
Refer to this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424387
There are a lot of posts in that forum, but the upshot is either do the very simple manual install mentioned in the first post (I did it, I am no expert, took me 3 minutes) or go to near the end and look for the URL of the wiki that has the latest one click cab files to install.
What applications would be best? I plan on surfing, web-mailing, listening to music, working with the office applications.

I use Skyfire to browse the web. It is comparable to the iphone browser and it works great. It is in beta, but so far I have only encoutnered a few websites that freak out on it (e.g. www.projectgutenberg.org).
For music, I like pocketmusic 5.1, a freeware app from Pocketmind. It only does mp3 files 9the shareware version does all file types) but it has a great touch friendly skin and nicely shuts off the phone but still plays music to save battery power. It works with my bluetooth headphones seemlessly. Only issue is that while active it commandeers your hard buttons, so if you want to use the hard buttons on the phone for other than music control you have to quit the app.
Other nice apps (I won't list them all!):
1. Total Commander in place of File Explorer. Allows you to have two windows open and drag and drop files.
2. Vade Mecum is a plucker reader that I use to read ebooks on my phone.
3. Live Search and Google Maps are an absolute must.
4. I like Icontact (Burt's version) which you can find on these forums. It is a finger friendly contact program that works wonderfully.
5. I dig Youtube player. You don't need it with Skyfire, but I like it for playing files I download off of youtube. It will search youtube and play video directly or download it in .flv format for later playing. Useful to save the clips I watch a lot (Monty Python sketches, Weird Al videos, etc.) on my phone.
Those are the biggies, IMO.

Devin

Some Software Ideas [Jan 1 2010]

Windows mobile needs more quality apps, and since WVGA displays are becoming the trend these days, hopefully there will be less fragmentation because of hardware inconsistencies...
Here are some software ideas that I thought up... if you are a developer and want to borrow them, please go ahead!
(note: I will update this post as I think of more..)
- A simple .cab file that would configure the power button to be used as the shutter button only in the camera application. This way, it is not necessary to touch the screen, only the power button to take pictures.
- Location-based profile changer: would run in the background and use Google Map's 'my location' to automatically change your phone's profile (vibrate, loud ring, silent, etc) according to where you are. If you are at home, your ringer would be turned on... if you are at work your ringer would automatically switch to vibrate. Useful, no?
- Rewards Card scanner/ all purpose 1D barcode organizer. Example: take a picture of a YMCA membership card, save it as 'YMCA' and be able to access it easily in an organized fashion. (I know that there are some apps similar to this already, but none do things well) A HTC Sense/TF3D skin would look best.
- A working Super Nintendo/Game Boy Advance emulator.
- A RSS reader that just pulls info from Google Reader. (Just like SmartRssTouch GR, but with an HTC Sense/TF3D skin)
So these ideas are by no means inventive... but as I said before, I will add to this list in the future, and you can too!
I will add one
I want a simple travel/night clock. Just red letters on a black screen so it does not produce too much light at night, but if I wake up a night I can look and see what time it is. A Klaxxon skin would be the best!
+1 for a 100% full speed SNES and GBA emulator. I know it's possible!

Hell Yeah! a SNES Emulator would even be enough... oh what dreams. A SNES Emulator capable of playing at 100% WITH Sound!
Even Playstation just got released and works pretty good... should'nt SNES be doable too?
Morphgear seems to work quite well.
It's not free though...

Htc HD 2 morphgear exelent but problematic

Hello thread i just installed morphgear into my HTC LEO and WOW!!! what a difference! i have had previosly the htc hd 1 and its a big change, so quick, even the sound is bearable i forget after a while that its not perfect. love it.
One problem though! In the GBA rom Zelda: Minish cap, the game always freezes in the beginning when i enter Minish Woods, no idea why same thing on my htc hd 1 any ideas what could be causing this?? thank you
oh ps: the pokemon games seem to not be able to save:S
the games are incredibly fun now with multitouch, but this stops me, help please!!
maybe ur rom is corrupt? u should download another of the game..
oh, and in the pokemon games.. try using the integrated savefunction of morphgear.. its faster and better ^.^ almost never save my games without it..
yeah, +1 for what the previous guy said, pokemon saves for me if i use morphgear but not the start menu option. I'd forgotten how addictive that crap is!
Sounds like a duff rom, had the same problem with revenge of shinobi for the mega drive (genesis, for those across the water) downloaded a different rom and all is well.
Now my days at work just fly by, makes mincemeat of my battery though!
Thanks for the reply!! Helps alot! with the pokemon games.
But ive downloaded a different rom from a different site, even different sizes MB wise and exactly the same problem?
any more ideas?
Again its specifically a problem with Zelda: Minish Cap, when entering Minish woods at the beginning after princess zelda turns to stone.
love morphgear on my Hd 2 with multitouch but this specific game gives me a problem, its frustrating considering as another member said before its very ¨addicting¨ XD
UPDATE: Fixed the problem, after Princess Zelda turns to stone, don't go directly to Minish Woods, go south like if you were going back home, the road will be blocked and talk to one of the workers, then go to Minish Woods, this way its doesn't freeze, STRANGE!! but works so I'm happy
Hope this helps!!

Hello, its not to hard here are the steps to install it correctly, again this way positively works for htc hd 2 and htc hd 1.
Step 1: go to the morphgear webpage at http://www.spicypixel.com/web/page/morphgear/Home.aspx. go to the download tab and find the Windows Mobile - Download Version 2.3.0.2 (MorphGear ,Modular game and emulation engine.)
it should come in a .cab just pass it over to your phone, and install it either into the sd card or phone memory.
Ps, if you have an HTC HD 2 they have ported it with bigger buttons and instructions on how to add the multitouch gamepad here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593464 trust me its not that difficult, its really not (Oh and by the way the morphgear engine(program .cab) cames with the snes module already activated)
Step 2: on the morphgear website download any of the modules you'd like GBA, SNES, etc and install that into your phone.
Step 3: Open the program (it should be under games, or programs list) click the image on the right of a joystick you can choose your settings, sound no sound etc.
Step 4: now that you have everything set up find yourself a rom, google search example: GBA ROMS (or any other system) and download it should be a zip file.
Step 5: after you have downloaded place it into your phone, then open morphgear and click the folfer image on the left, find your .zip game and PLAY.
PS: imorphgear is a payed aplication, you can have the snes module free and activated in the link above, but for the other you have to find a code, (private message me if you want a GBA Code).
Also on the link above for the HTC HD 2 scren settings dont change, unless you do it with the registry, not ard either just have to do it, I changed it too full screen works great with game pad.
NOw you have all the games to your hearts desire and on The HTC LEO they are fastttttt.
Good luck!
Great Alex! Will definitely try this now! Thanks for the guide. will keep you updated.
UPDATE!!!:
Many users have been asking how to change the settings on their HTC Leo in Morphgear.
Here are the steps:
1) You need to have a registry editor, I use PHM Registry Editor, which can be found here http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=31. ( you can use others but thats the one thats simplest for me.
2)After instalation, you can go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Morphgear, Then you pick your console and edit whatever you want.
3) For me the best setting for my leo where: Go to the steps above and click any of the consoles, y use mostly GBA so: HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Morphgear, Gameboyadvanced, then you scrool down and to screen size and change the value from 100% to WINDOW SIZE. Thats the best for HTC LEO in my opinion.
4) If you want to use the d-pad WVGA-MT-Dredd67 v0.3 (Exelent by the way since it has multitouch and its very finger friendly) Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=489147 follow the instructions put the files in the right folder.
5) after your done go to the registry editor and again go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Morphgear, Gameboyadvanced(or any console) and go to PADSKIN change the default and Write exactly the name of the pad skin you downloaded in this case WVGA MT Pad v0.3 by Dredd67.
then press ok to change.
Now restart your phone if youd like or just make sure your out of morphgear and then start it up again, the settings should be there.
PS: Once you start the game the D-Pad will show up when you tap the screen.
Good Luck hope this helps.
+ 1 for the great patience and support. Thanks mate.
I'm having the same problem with the pokemon saving in the emulator. I used the state save that Morphgear provides, which works fine, but then I beat Elite Four and the game just exited out. So my only options are either start a new game or keep on playing from where I last saved before Elite Four. It doesn't put me back at my house in the game like it's supposed to. Help anyone? There has GOT to be a way to save in-game!!!

aDosBox v0.2beta (with virtual keyboard) just released

Please help us test it out and report bugs/issues. Thanks
Just search "adosbox" in Google, I am not allowed to post external URL here.
Any kinds of help are welcome
Hi, i downloaded this last night for one reason and one reason only (for now anyway) - to play championship manager and i managed to get it start a new game it took over an hour to do it and then simple things like changing pages takes over a min so it esentially unplayable.
Other that great work and i wish i could be of more help but im afraid ive never done any software programming in my life
Wow, this is perfect so far. I just tried cyberdogs on it and it ran amazing. The program is really easy to get running. Is there a way to mount hard keyboards to the controls?
Just tried it. works like a charm.
Yep, works awesome.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I am really enjoying adosbox right now on my Transformer, but lack of 3.1 mouse support has saddened me to the point where I compiled from source myself. I have it working sort of (on the java end), but because the build screen size doesn't match with the actual screen size, I am having issues with the mouse not following perfectly. I would like to get mouse support working better for 3.1 devices (and probably better emulation going for pre 3.1 devices), but I need to edit some of the C files for that. Unfortunately I have not done much native code on Android, so I am running into problems compiling. The ndk-build script seems to fail on me with an error of "missing separator" in the SDL-1.2 make file. Sadly I have never used make so I don't know how to correct it.
Today I saw the build_instructions.txt in jni/application/dosbox/. Are you building through this instead of the ndk (do I need to get gcc ARM cross compiling installed on my linux box)? In either case where does the dosbox-0.74-cfg-pelyaSDL.tar.gz come from?
Any help you could give me in getting the native part to build would be appreciated. Then I can focus on getting some usability stuff working and throw patches your way.
P.S. The feedback page is broken.
Hi. That's great news.
I love dosbox an I appreciate your work.
If you don't mind I will post some issues here.
I've installed adosbox 0.2.5 on my Desire Z.
I've tried to run some apps and games.
Dos Navigaror: Usable.
1. Mouse trackpad emulation works quite well, however it only moves in x,y axis separately. No intermediate directions (I suppose the hardware does not allow it). Any possibilities to solve this?
2. Touch screen mouse movement works quite well - however with delay.
2a. Well, sometimes there is no mouse. I swing on the screen with no effect.
3. It does not respond to screen tap as a left mouse click. Well it works sometimes. I have no control on that.
3a It does not respond to double tap (double click) at all.
4. No possibility to bind/emulate arrow keys. I can't find such function in dosbox menus. ---edit --- I could bind some keys but... see the edit part down there.
5. On PC I've been using config to autostart Dos Navigator with dosbox start. How to do it on Android? I couldn't find .conf file on my device.
System shock: starts but unplayable.
1. I've got a slide show. I've increased the CPU cycle to 1000 even to 2500 with no satisfactory effect.
2. On screen mouse movement works but the cursor jumps into different position when tapping.
3. With no option for binding keys this game is 100% unplayable.
Hocus Pocus: works but no arrow keys.
1. It starts nicely.
2. It reacts on "FN" key - the hero is shooting.
3. However no hardware arrow keys makes the game unplayable. Moving with trackpad sucks so much that the game is unplayable.
Oxyd Magnum: Playable but not exciting.
1. It react on taping the screen.
2. On screen mouse works well but with some ugly delay. This takes out most of the fun.
So the main issues I see are the cpu speed, mouse delay and the hw keys binding.
You are making a great job.
However making dos games being fun on the phone needs good controls workaround. Without that - no fun.
Thank you.
Don't forget we appreciate your work.
-------------edit-----------
Keys binding:
The .dosbox\mapper-0.74.map file (the file for binding keys) can not be found from the phone level. It must be done from a PC level. It's not a big issue but what to hide the file for?
After rebinding left FN, left shift and tab keys Hocus Pocus is quite playable.
It would be nice if you provide us the list of numbers for HW keys on some devices.
I can't bind "menu" as right arrow. And I can't bind search, sym, and the two shortcut keys. They are left useles.
And binding some keys as arrows disables trackpad!
Sound:
No mater what number I set for cycles I can't make the sound to play smoothly.
Any suggestions?
Someone knowns the makefile system for adosbox "libapplication.so"?
Ive been trying for a long time to recompile adosbox for mips, and i still unable to compile that file, not even for arm.
Hello,
I am using aDOSBox to run QBASIC (yes I know there are "better" and "faster" interpreters/compliers, but some have bad issues, see one comment about writting files on X-11 BASIC, others have a max file size) with an external keyboard (so I can see the screen while typing - can you make the virtual keyboard transparent?).
I have found that some keys do not work nor processed correctly in this version (freshly gotten from Google Play), namely the "." when shifted (I get ":" every time, all other punction keys appear to be fine). At first I though this was a KCM problem (had problems with mismapped keys on a Droid X), but while I was briefly able to rooted my tablet (someone please read/question my post/question about the Azpen A701 rooting) I was able to view the generic.kcm and other kcm files (lost root right after this) and those files define the shift period combination correctly. Also I get a ">" when I hit that combination in the 920 Text Editor.
Function keys seem to send to Android key processes (opening/launching other apps) instead of work in the program. Insert, Delete, Home, and End do not seem to be working at all.
