kind of a dual sim question - P3600 General

I have a new job, and with that comes a new phone (KPN), but: no data traffic! (company policy)
I do own a private number (Tmob) which I can update to a data-plan. And to make use of them, I could use a sim-switch, but then I have to switch each time I want to use internet or make a call. But I don't wanna switch! I want 1 sim for voice and 1 for data at the same time, is this impossible??!
probably
But then: as an alternative I could ask KPN for an data only contract as an addon to the contract of my work sim which will be billed by myself. Does anyone have some experience with this? (calling KPN is not possible during the weekend, and I'm very curios)
thanks!

dual sim
Hello,
I tried a dual sim solution in my trinity, but without success. I bought the latest generation because the older ones can't deal with digital sim's capable of umts. This was a 16th generation dual sim. It worked fine in a verry old nokia but not in my trinity. Tried it in WM5 and WM6 but keeps reporting a sim error.

Dual Sim

I've a question
Is it possible to use 2 sim's in the 2020 and use 1 for permanent gprs access and the other for my regular phone conversations without swapping the sims in any program all the time.
This because my vodafone charches me for every minute i use gprs and T-mobile offers a 10euro package for unlimited gprs time. so if its possible i'll aply for a Tmobile gprs package.
Nobody ?
No.
AFAIK you can only access one sim at a time, with either physical dual sim adaptors or multi-sim copiers.

Invalid or Missing SIM in XDA Exec - transferred from XDA2i

I just transferred my O2 contract SIM from my Alpine (XDA2i) and the Universal (XDA Exec) is showing "Invalid or missing SIM card".
I don't know what the problem is, it shouldn't matter if the phone is locked or not (I think) as they are both from O2.
What can I do?
The old SIM should work I believe but ask customer service to send you a 3G SIM, which you will want anyway.
It seems to have fixed itself.
I do only have a normal GPRS SIM, not a 3G one - does this mean I can't video call until I get a 3G one?
Thanks.
Well if your SIM is not a 3G one, you won't get UTMS for data nor Video which needs it I believe.
Okay, thanks.
I don't think I'll bother getting a 3G SIM for a while, if the phone will still work with GPRS. I'm in no rush to video call, and another SIM will cost me £10

Do I need a 3g usim card for 3g on a m3100?

Hi All
I have just ordered a orange spv m3100 to be used unlocked on t-mobile. I just phoned up t-mobile to ask if i need a new sim to use in a 3g phone, but the woman i spoke to seemed to think that there is no such thing as a 3g sim, is this correct?
Will my old sim from my wizzard work in the m3100 and will i get 3g?
Thanks
you can use a 2g sim in the m3100 but you wouldnt be able to get any 3g services out of it.
best thing to do is just pop your sim into it and it will tell you if you have a 3g signal.
hope this helps
thats what i thought, thanks. i will have to phone up t-mobile again and explain i want a 3g sim.
have you asked to receive the m3100 unlocked or are you having it unlocked after you get it?
as far as i'm aware the m3100 comes locked to orange as standard so you won't be able to use a t-mobile sim...
I've spoke to T-mobile previously about 3g services and they've told me that the chip that I got off them (Bought a MDA vario) would be able to use 3g.
I popped it into my Nokia N70 and it worked a treat.
So, you might not need a different type of Sim card
nice tread i was literally going to ask this exact sme question. i just posted in another thread, asking almost the same thing, only i'm getting a new contract on t-mob and extending my misses contracting then gonna pay for them to both be unlocked and then swap the sims,
hope they send me a 3G sim
Strangely enough, I've ordered a Orange SPV 3100 today and depending on if I like it I'm going to get it unlocked and use my t-mobile chip with it.
Don't fancy paying £20 to get it unlocked to test though, So if anyone can get me a free unlocking solution by tomorrow, that would be appreciated
Even T-Mobile pay as you go sim cards seem to be fine for 3g data - just not enabled for video calling.
My vodafone sim card is a standard one, I haven't changed it in 3 or 4 years and 3g works fine.
thanks for the replys guys, this is all sounding good
I have a mate who had a MDA Vario. He bought an unbranded TyTN and asked me what he had to do to get the internet working.
I said call T and ask for 1) 3g sim 2) connection settings.
He called T and they said he didn't need a 3g sim... I have to say I though they were talking bollocks. So he popped his old sim in and we had a video call - no problems at all.
So you may be ok...
It depends on when you got your device/SIM. If bought over the last year it should be OK, if the SP supports 3G anyway. Older SIMs may need to be replaced.
So...the networks have been shipping USims instead of Sims....interesting. I didn't know that.
Quite useful to know.
thats very interesting, although I have had my sim for some time so not sure if it is a usim. Mine came with my Magician just over a year and a half ago. When I got my wizzard, I just swpped the sim over.
My M3100 should be here today, so I will test it and see what happens.
I dont think there will be a free unlocking tool for a few weeks at least, so Im just going to pay the £20 and get the code.

My voda sim is a sim (not a usim) and is about 3 years old and has worked in every voda 3g phone I've tried it in (v980, 6680, sharp 902, sharp 903, v3x and xda exec).
Gives 1.2mb on hsdpa.
I just had to ask for it to be enabled when voda launched 3g.

sim question?

Is it possible to use two different carriers with one sim at the same time? For instance. using a cingular voice plan and a tmobile data plan at the same time, without having to switch between the two.
There are dual sim adaptors which work on the TyTN, have a look at this thread, you need one of the '10th generation':

[Q] Calls Work with one SIM and not the other

Having a problem with a Telstra HD2 model.
With a Telstra SIM in the phone, I can make and receive calls. When I insert a Vodafone SIM into it, I cannot make or receive calls. Call hangs up straight away.
Device is not network locked as HTC phones are not locked with Telstra. Bars display in task bar.
Tried it with Windows 6.5 (factory default) and Android custom ROM. Currently on custom ROM.
Any thoughts?
I had a similiar problem a few years ago and all i had to do was get a new sim card. I was told i had damaged my sim card some how but i was able to save the contacts, transfer them over to the new sim T-mobile gave me and I have not had another problem since.
If you have access to another phone try and insert both sim cards you have in the other phone. If you have problems in the other phone with the sim card thats not working you can safely say its the sim card thats not working correctly and not a phone issue.
Thanks for the reply Craze.
My SIM's do work as I use my Telstra SIM (that works in the HD2) in my old Nokia and my Vodafone on my Galaxy Nexus Prime.
So on the HD2, my Telstra SIM works where I'm able to receive and make calls and my Vodafone is the opposite.
Could it be the phone? I'm hoping that it is so that I can fix it.
Could it be the network providers? If so, then I'll call them which I've already done but they couldn't give me an answer as to why my Voda SIM does that in the HD2.
